TGO Radio is celebrating America by taking the week off, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy our watching season one, episode two of the show Shifting Gears, starring Tim Allen and world renowned tit monster Kat Dennings.
The Third Part in our Brothers Brought Low Trilogy Even when you nail the casting with Chris Hemsworth wearing a red cape and Tom Hiddleston with golden horns on his head... you still need Kat Dennings to save the day and STILL two bumbling podcasters will complain about your flick over a decade later. Which is to say that there is no pleasing anyone with anything and that it could always be worse. Like in the sequel THOR: THE DARK WORLD. But that's for another episode! For now, let's enjoy our little chat on The Original THOR. A classic of good enough! Patreon supporters get access to monthly bonus episodes including previous years of Movie Book Club! In this extremely belated Halloween episode following another unanticipated long hiatus, the randomizer goes all the way back to 2021 to pick the Halloween episode of one of the biggest zeitgeist-capturing megahit series in the illustrious five-year history of Disney+. The first-ever television show produced by Marvel Studios was also a twisted love letter to the history of television itself, filtered through an uncommon love story between an Eastern European witch and an undead British-accented android, in a thoroughly postmodern setting that literalized how escapist entertainment can paradoxically become a mental prison, all wrapped up in a package so weird and yet so accessible that it could only have been made by (and likely would only have been embraced by the masses IF made by) Marvel. Also this episode has a claymation scene where a talking shark sells yogurt products, because why wouldn't it? "Instead of the Mahi-Mahi, can I get just one Mahi, because I'm not that hungry?" We watched "The House Bunny", from 2008, with our friend Justin Allison and we want to pledge Zeta! The early aughts were a time the Playboy brand was definitely having a moment and Anna Faris and the filmmakers really capitalized on the wave Hef and the bunnies were riding. Mall stores were marketing the bunny to children, "The Girls Next Door" were riding high on E! and "The House Bunny" had us cackling. We may take a few detours to remember Holly, Bridget and Kendra, but we promise it's all to serve our conversation of this movie. Anna Faris herself channeled Bridget's look (and some mannerisms) in her portrayel of Shelley, the down on her luck Playmate in search of meaning in her life. Anna sets the comedic bar very high in this one and everyone in this cast is really pulling off the comedy. Early outings from double oscar winner Emma Stone and Kat Dennings really show off their comedic talents and all the Zetas are so much fun to watch. The gang at Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions really pull off a "girl's comedy" without punching down - which is refreshing coming from such a bro-centric group. You can tell they were really just about finding the funny and for us - they found it. "The House Bunny" is utterly quoteable to this day and Anna Faris deserves all of her flowers for this killer performance. This week, I had a high-energy conversation with the wonderful actor Kat Dennings, known for her role in the television show Two Broke Girls (also for: Dollface on Hulu, and the forthcoming film Friendsgiving). She describes an amazing sacrifice her entire family made for her when she was a teenager. Kat also reflects, from the perspective of her own vulnerable personal experience, on the question that listener Valeria (from the beginning of the episode) is working through: “Should you choose your spouse/partner over your family?”

Ok, so we're watching "The House Bunny" this episode and we didn't realize how many people were actually in this movie. Anna Faris, Emma Stone, Colin Hanks, Kat Dennings, Rumer Willis, Kathatine McPhee, and there are more. It's a cute little comedy that has more heart than you would think based on the trailer and promotional material. Plus, Faris always delivers in this type of comedy. We pair it with Dr. G Dry Riesling, which is super light and bright. We were completely shocked. It's great. As a bonus there is a cute little bunny on the label.Metacritic Score: 55/100Movie Sync Notes: We rented "The House Bunny" on Amazon Prime Video. We start "The House Bunny" 4:37 into the pod, and push play on part two 35:07 into the pod.
Today, I am taking some time off while I recover from a recent illness and continue to sift through edits for the Season 4 Finale of the podcast. In the meantime, enjoy this bonus episode from my Patreon film review series where I review 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist' with special guest Mia Day. ✨ MORE ABOUT MIA DAY ✨Inspired by the vivid imagery crafted by Benjamin Gibbard and Leonard Cohen, as well as the writers heartbeat of Taylor Swift, Mia Day has claimed a songwriting style that embraces the weight that small moments carry. A record store junkie, over-thinker, [and] Seattle native that grew up under the endless grey sky, Mia's music turns inward with the harsh vulnerability that comes with spending a lot of one's teenage years alone. Her voice is a strong spirit that marries unconventionality with beauty, softness with a demand to be listened to. At the age of 20 years old, she has released a full length album, "Gold," as well as two E.P's known as "Years" and "Lone Rider." Her music has been played on 90.3 KEXP radio, Rainy Dawg Radio, Chapman Radio, 107.3 KBFG, and at 18 was named one of Sub Pop Records "Best of the Pacific Northwest" on Spotify. ✨ KEEP UP TO DATE WITH MIA DAY ✨Web: https://miadaymusic.wixsite.com/mia-dayInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/miadaymusic/Bandcamp: https://miaday.bandcamp.com✨ CONNECT WITH IZZY ✨YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv6SBgiYCpYbx9BOYNefkIgWebsite: https://agrrrlstwosoundcents.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/agrrrlstwosoundcents/Twitter: https://twitter.com/grrrlsoundcents

"I know you probably think I'm a manipulative bitch for sleeping with two guys, but try looking at it this way: the sexual revolution is just like any other revolutionthere's gonna be casualties.”This week we're talking about a forgotten teen film from 2010, misunderstood at the time for its progressive themes and imperfect protagonist. Kat Dennings' Caroline Wexler is the anti-manic pixie dream girl, and a character often regulated to being a "bad influence." We discuss our own "bad girl" moments of high school, in particular, inappropriate relationships with much older partners.--------Become a Patron! www.patreon.com/thisendsatprom---------Find the Show on Twitter & Instagram: @ThisEndsAtPromBJ Colangelo —Twitter & Instagram: @BJColangeloHarmony Colangelo — Twitter & Instagram: @Veloci_trap_tor----------Logo Design: Haley Doodles @HaleyDoodleDoTheme Song: The Sonder Bombs 'Title': https://thesonderbombs.bandcamp.com/
We are back at the movies to discuss the 29th MCU movie Thor Love and Thunder starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale. Join us for our spoiler filled chat all about it. Synopsis for our Thor Love And Thunder Movie Review Directed by: Taika Waititi Story by: Taika Waititi Written by: Taika Waititi with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson In a barren desert Gorr and his daughter struggle to stay alive, but despite their prayers to their god, Rapu, his daughter dies. In Rapu's lush realm, Gorr's plight and grief, and his many years of devotion are dismissed by Rapu, who proceeds to strangle him. But the god-killing Necrosword, who called Gorr to Rapu's realm, offers itself to Gorr, who kills Rapu with it and vows to kill all gods, but all wielders of the Necrosword are cursed with impending death, from the sword's corrupt influence. As Gorr rampages across the galaxy exacting his revenge on Gods, his next target is New Asgard that brings him into the crosshairs of Thor the God of Thunder. Thor arrives in New Asgard just as Gorr attacks using the power of the sword to manipulate shadows and produce monsters. In the heat of battle Thor is surprised to find Dr Jane Foster wielding Mjolnir, after Mjolnir had reforged and bonded itself to a dying Jane Foster due to an enchantment Thor had unknowingly placed on it many years earlier to protect Dr Foster. He teams up with her, Valkyrie, and Korg and fights Gorr from New Asgard, but as he escapes, Gorr kidnaps several Asgardian children and imprisons them in the Shadow Realm. Thor learns where the children are being held after being contacted by Axl, Heimdall's son, and decides to form an army of Gods to rescue them. They travel to Omnipotence City, but Zeus, fearing Gorr, refuses to help and they must escape the City on their own to pursue Gorr. Arriving at the Shadow Realm, the children are missing and Jane Foster deduces that the kidnappings were a trap, as Gorr needs Stormbreaker, in order to enter the realm of Eternity, who can grant his wish to destroy all gods. Ambushed, Gorr overpowers the group, severely injuring Valkyrie and managing to take Thor's axe. At Eternity's altar Thor and Jane Foster must fight to save the children of Asgard and for the survival of Gods. They destroy the Necrosword, freeing Gorr from its influence, and the three are brought into Eternity's realm. But Jane is at death's door weakened from using Mjolnir and with Gorr poised to make his wish, the outcome is uncertain. Thor implores Gorr to revive his daughter instead of destroying the gods, and moved by Thor's tenderness with Jane, he wishes for Eternity to revive his child, which it grants. In the aftermath, Jane Foster's sacrifice is honored in New Asgard, where Valkyrie and Sif begin training the children. Thor adopts Love, Gorr's resurrected daughter, who joins him wielding Mjolnir in his heroics. In a mid-credits scene back in Omnipotence City, a recuperating Zeus sends his son Hercules to kill Thor. In a post-credits scene, Foster arrives at the gates of Valhalla where she is welcomed by Heimdall and thanked for helping his son. 'ER' episode 7, season 12 titled "The human Shield" opens with a man holding a young girl in his arms as he shoots wildly at policemen who (in return) shoot wildly at him. The man and the young girl get shot in the shower of bullets and the paramedics are called. Uncle Jesse from Full House enters dressed as a paramedic. Our favourite doctor Victor Clemente (Johnny Legz) asserts his power in the hospital by holding stern meetings with all of the staff. He loves a stern meeting. He fucks up a little bit and doesn't give a patient enough fluids. this patient dies. This pisses off Practical Magic because he knew that the patient needed more fluids. Practical Magic gets over this fairly quickly because Liar Liar has a breakdown and he makes kisses with her. Shane West is in a lot of trouble because the father of a Kat Dennings finds out he had sex with his daughter and bashes him in a carpark. TW: This episode of 'ER' tackles some seriously heavy stuff including kidnapping, pedophilia and sexual abuse. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
