Join our Patreon family for as little as $5 per month to unlock 25+ full-length bonus episodes, ad-free weekly episodes, mp3 downloads of our original songs, exclusive Discord access, and more!  Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that's, “knock, knock, knockin' on heaven's door”. This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out and talk about why the 2025 Apple TV dramedy, Eternity, Should've Been Gay. Eternity asks the genuinely thought-provoking question, ‘what does happiness in the afterlife look like for you', and dares to answer it in the most heteronormative way possible. Leigh and Ellie ended up having vastly differing opinions this time around. Ellie loved the film so much, she watched it more than once, and cried every single time. Leigh was so enraged while watching it for the first and only time on a flight that she strongly considered throwing herself out of the plane while 30,000 feet up in the sky.  For those who are unfamiliar, Eternity centers around Elizabeth Olsen's character, Joan, as she decides between two possible “eternities” in the afterlife– one in the mountains with her first husband, Luke, who died young and waited 70 years for Joan to join him, or one at the beach with Larry, the husband with whom she spent the majority of her life and built a family. Unfortunately for Joan, neither Larry nor Luke seem all that concerned about where she would actually like to spend literal forever. They're set on mountain world and beach world, respectively, and will not budge on these decisions, even though a compromise would've fixed the entire problem. The one saving grace for Joan comes in her longtime best friend Karen, a late-in-life lesbian who plans to spend her afterlife lezzing it up in Paris.  The film presents so many potential paths for Joan to take (the mountains with Luke, the beach with Larry, Luke and Larry giving in to their obvious bisexual curiosities to form a throuple, running off to Paris with Karen, choosing an afterlife herself instead of being forced into someone else's version of a happily ever after…) and then walks her down the most aggressively heterosexual option in a way that truly feels like a hate crime. Honestly, regardless of how much anyone loves their partner, eternity is not 100 years or even 500 years, it's ETERNITY. There is no way everyone doesn't end up becoming swingers eventually anyway.  We know one thing for sure, Eternity Should've Been Gay. A young girl finds herself trapped in her family's lake house while they're renovating and is haunted by a mysterious invader. In the fourth week of Staring into Holes month, we discuss Silent House, a psychological horror movie featuring Elizabeth Olsen in her first starring role. While this movie takes on the style of a continuous shot, it relies on acting and character developing to guide the narrative. Even though Olsen's performance is serviceable, there isn't enough happening in the movie to keep up the investment. The twist of the movie is highly predictable, especially if you've seen psychological horror films in the past, and profound character actions towards the end don't have the proper buildup. We've been critical of this movie in the past and there are too many holes references to count to leave it out of Staring into Holes month. "Eternity" had its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival where it received positive reviews for its clever premise about a woman who must choose between two men with whom to spend eternity in the afterlife co-written and directed by David Freyne along with the trio of heartwarming an heartbreaking performances from Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen, Callum Turner, and hilarious supporting work from John Early, Olga Merediz and Academy Award-winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph. Freyne was kind enough to spend some time talking with Ema Sasic about his experience making the film, while I had the pleasure of speaking with Joy Randolph about her work on the film. Both interviews are available to listen to below. Please be sure to check out the film, which is now playing in theaters from A24. Thank you, and enjoy! The coldest place in the nation today is near Nashville, Tennessee, where temperatures in Gatlinburg hit 3 degrees. Tim explains that technically we’re still in a long-term ice age, but in a warmer “interglacial” phase that began 2.6 million years ago, with the last deep freeze ending about 12,000 years ago. The forecast for Southern California has changed — expect six straight days of rain. Tim reminisces about Disneyland’s Autopia, comparing it to how L.A. streets now look cluttered with trash, asking why people have stopped caring. Mammoth Mountain delays its opening day by one day due to the storm. On a lighter note, Elizabeth Olsen told Seth Meyers she’s a fan of Dodgers reporter David Vassegh. The show wraps with Tim thanking listeners for all the birthday cards and gifts he received. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Join our Patreon to unlock 25+ full-length bonus episodes, ad-free weekly episodes, mp3 downloads of our original songs, exclusive Discord access, and more! Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that is always going to root for Aubrey Plaza (even when she's playing a literal stalker).  This week, Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) hang out and talk about why the 2017 dark comedy Ingrid Goes West Should've Been Gay. We really enjoyed this extremely cringey comedy, but we wish it had gone further with Ingrid and Taylor's relationship. Ingrid's behavior was unhinged, for sure; but it wasn't Saltburn level unhinged.  For those who have not seen the movie, the plot centers around Ingrid (Aubrey Plaza) who moves to LA specifically to stalk the Instagram influencer (Elizabeth Olsen) that she is obsessed with. While we fully understand the point they are trying to make about parasocial relationships and social media, we can't help but root for Ingrid the entire time. She may have gone about everything in a really convoluted way, but Ingrid does love Taylor (unlike Taylor's husband, who seems to hate everything about her). It feels a lot like Killing Eve, where you can't help but root for Villanelle to “get the girl” even as she is killing people left and right.  We know one thing for sure, Ingrid Goes West Should've Been Gay. Give us your own answers to our Q & Gay on Instagram and follow along on Facebook, TikTok, and BlueSky @lezhangoutpod. Email us @lezhangoutpod@gmail.com.
