In this overdue episode, your hosts Parker and Brandon dive right back into the Fate Accelerated TTRPG system by focusing their conversation from the point of view of the Game Master, or GM, who runs the session and table. Similar to a Dungeon Master for D&D, the Game Master for Fate is slightly different for a different system. Parker and Brandon talk about those slight differences (and similarities) with D&D, discuss how well Christian did as a GM for the players in our recent one-shot (Spoilers for A Mysterious Christmas Carol one-shot adventure), and... how dad jokes make hilarious mediums for Vicious Mockery?? In Part 2 of this special Holiday adventure with Improv Tabletop's Christian Randall and Ned Wilcock, our hero's Sam, Deggy, and Whatsly found a woman who seemed to recognize them as the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future while observing the funeral of their murdered haunt. However, no one has been able to see them before as they travel through the timestream searching for clues. What does this mean? Is she involved somehow? If so, how and why? The answers come as a shock to our new Christmas ghosts as they finally confront the perpetrators... Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Nat 1 Nerds! In this special Holiday adventure using the Fate Accelerated TTRPG system, Christian of the 'Improve Tabletop' podcast takes the reigns (pun intended) of Gamemaster as Parker, Brandon, and the usual Gamemaster of 'Improve Tabletop' Ned become the new ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come... except their first haunting has become a murder! It's as though someone knew these ghosts were coming beforehand... Will our reluctant ghosts Sam the psychic, Deggy the mailman, and Whatsly the accountant be able to solve the murder? Special guests Emily and Sierra from Rosemary PG Studios join your host Parker in geeking out over their favorite D&D 5e supplement books! Why? Because there are A LOT of additional books that can be used to help better understand and enhance your table-top experience, and it can get overwhelming. Out of the 32 offical publications for 5th edition by Wizards of the Coast, we recommend 5 out of the 32 (besides the essential Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manual) and one 3rd party publication. We also discuss some more tips and advise for Dungeon Masters, and favorite D&D characters further. Rosemary PG Studios is a YouTube channel dedicated to providing clean fantasy entertainment, and short D&D 5e explanation videos for those who are new or need a refresher. In this final episode exploring Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition, your hosts Parker and Brandon give their final thoughts on the classic system that introduced them (and so many others) into the world of table-top role-playing games. Though they admit their biased grade in the system's favor (such as how well the combat mechanics and rules work), they still have their criticism; notably the games lack of role-play support mechanically speaking. They also give further insight into being a good Dungeon Master, and some talk on how to run a campaign with different types of players at the table. Overall, they recommend Dungeons and Dragons 5e and look forward to the new edition in the next couple years.

While still understandable, we recommend listening to our 2023 D&D Holiday-themed actual-play "Tis the Season For No Magic" for a better auditory D&D experience.] Your hosts Parker and Brandon continue their very first session-long adventure (one-shot) on the podcast using the Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition system with guests Afton and Aubrey. As their characters engage in some ghost busting, questions remain: where are they? Will they survive this horror ride through the mist that destroyed a kingdom? Who, or what, awaits them in the final train car? At the end, each player shares something they learned (or re-learned) about their characters, the mechanics of D&D 5e, or podcasting in general. Their character's, Tarren the Sorcerer, Aethera the Warlock, and Tazle the Cleric, all meet at tavern on the borders of a destroyed kingdom shrouded in mist. What lays beyond the mist? Will they survive what lies beyond? Will they board a long forgotten train in? As they play, Parker and Brandon do their best to explain some aspects of race, class, and even some spells. Continuing our exploration of Dungeons and Dragons 5e, hosts Parker and Brandon discuss what it takes to run a D&D campaign as the Dungeon Master/Game Master (or DM) for the first time. What materials do you need? How do you begin a D&D campaign? What are some things to keep in mind? What's the importance of a Session 0, and how does it set the foundation of a good TTRPG experience for everyone at the table? How do you run social encounter's? There is a lot of work and reward in becoming a Dungeon Master. Being veteran DM's themselves, Parker and Brandon talk about what materials they found useful when they first started, favorite settings like Eberron and Spelljammer, character mini's, the importance of a DM screen, how to run combat, and more in this episode. In this second episode on Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, hosts Brandon and Parker discuss the process and considerations in creating your first character. They discuss Race, Class, Background, and how to implement those traits onto your character sheet by building an original character (step by step) voted on by listeners while recording. Not only will you have a better understanding on how to build a character and how to acquire your stats, but also discover why Parker and Brandon's character apparently skipped leg day at the gym...
