Excavations at Weathertop (Amon Sûl) have uncovered significant evidence of its role as a Númenórean watchtower and the later decline of Arnor. Artefacts including weapons, pottery, and tools reflect the site's military importance before its destruction by Angmar's forces. Remains of battle and burnt structures provide insight into the final assault on the tower, while later finds suggest sporadic use by travellers and the Dúnedain. This report examines the site's stratigraphy and the material culture uncovered, offering a glimpse into the history and symbolic decline of Weathertop as part of Middle-earth's broader narrative.TLDR: Tilly and Ash excavate the fantastical site of Weathertop as found in Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.Links/BibliographyBintliff, J., ed., 2012. In this episode, we dive into Sauron's return to Mordor after his disastrous beach trip to Númenor, his transformation from deceiver to full-blown terror lord, and the rise of Elendil and his sons in Middle-earth. We break down how Aragorn is connected to Númenor's good side, the founding of Gondor and Arnor, and the Last Alliance's war against Sauron. Also, we mourn the Entwives, question Elven leadership skills, and admire some good old fisticuffs.
Frustrasjon skapte inspirasjon for gründer Arnar Lyche. Chess is one of our oldest games and as with most long-lasting entities, the game has undergone many changes over the years, influenced even by such factors as societal progress and politics. Chess has passed through different societies and cultures and the game has been played and perceived differently in different settings. Today, chess is one of very few board games accorded the status of sport in addition to also being promoted as a hobby that improves players' acuity. Join us for an in-depth discussion as we explore "Akallabíth", the legend of Númenor's fall from JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion. Learn about the rise of Sauron, Pharazôn's assault on Valinor, and the escape of Elendil and Isildur to establish Arnor and Gondor.WATCH THE VIDEO » https://youtu.be/JRqaGOaRkz0 EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS » Kaitlyn of Tea with Tolkien, John R, Jacob Lockham, John H, Scotchy Bobo, Eru27With Morgoth having been finally defeated in the War of Wrath, the Men allied with the Elves of Beleriand are rewarded with an earthly paradise: the Island of Númenor. Yet over the course of a 3300 year history, the Men of Númenor tragically discover that the soul of Man desires things that the natural world cannot provide.QUOTE OF THE WEEKfrom The Waldman Letter (#131)..."The Downfall is partly the result of an inner weakness in Men – consequent, if you will, upon the first Fall, repented but not finally healed. Reward on earth is more dangerous for men than punishment! The Fall is achieved by the cunning of Sauron in exploiting this weakness. Its central theme is (inevitably, I think, in a story of Men) a Ban, or Prohibition."LINKS & MATHOMS:- listen to The Silmarillion for FREE » https://www.audibletrial.com/everon- buy The Silmarillion » https://amzn.to/3FOKAY5- buy The Atlas of Middle-earth » https://amzn.to/3KLOxQa- buy Tolkien's Requiem » https://tolkiensrequiem.com/- buy Tolkien's Overture » https://tolkiensoverture.com/- Timeline of Arda » https://lotr.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline_of_Arda- EXPLORING THE SECOND AGE PLAYLIST » https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqUat2OcwnPAA9xTbKdL0rQ4rKMzplEKt *** RELEASED THREE DAYS EARLY FOR OUR AMAZING PATRONS ***SPECIAL THANKS:- John R- Kaitlyn of Tea with Tolkien- Jacob Lockham- John H- Scotchy Bobo- Eru27- Ms. Anonymous- Andrew T- Redhawk- Shannon S- Brian O- Emilio P- Zeke F- James A- James L- Chris L- Chuck F- Asya V- Ish of the Hammer- Teresa C- David of Pints with Jack- Jonathan D- Eric B- Johanna T- Mike M- Robert H- Paul D- Julia- Werty- Matthew W- JoeBagelMan- Chris K- Jacob S- Richard K- Matt R- Garret P- John W- Eugene DAS WELL AS THOSE CELEBRATING THEIR PATRON ANNIVERSARY IN NOVEMBER OF 2022- Matthew F- Michael L
We all know that Aragorn is Isildur's heir, but there's 38 generations and nearly 3000 years between them. What happened during that time?Elrond said that Aragorn was “descended through many fathers from Isildur Elendil's son . . . He is the Chief of the Dúnedain in the North, and few are now left of that folk”Today we will explore the tales of Aragorn's forefathers, and why the Dunedain have dwindled from the once mighty kingdom of Numenor to a handful of Rangers in the North. And keep a sharp ear out for the appearance of the Hobbits, and King of the Nazgul: the Witchking of Angmar!Support the show with a wafer of lembas: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lotrpodcastOther ways to support this podcast:Buy The Lord of the Rings books on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3FLMPOLBuy The Hobbit on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3hd0vYXBuy The Silmarillion on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3WqgC5zBuy Unfinished Tales on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3FJsp8WBuy The Nature of Middle-earth on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3zJyQFtBuy The Fall of Gondolin on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3T7V76qBuy The Children of Húrin on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3UuTsctBuy Beren and Lúthien on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3sWKA3sBuy The Atlas of Middle-earth on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3E1k7brBuy The Complete Guide to Middle-earth on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3sZQKzVNeed a discount? One of the biggest questions of our age is what we are to make of ourselves in a post-pandemic reality. If we allow it, hardship can unlock a deeply satisfying way of living; however, it requires an ability to live in the tension of survival and progress. When we are no longer reacting, there comes a moment where we commit to transforming our life into something deeper. In this episode, I'll look at Aragorn, son of Arathorn, King of Gondor and Arnor, and share 7 lessons from his life story that can help us complete this transformative quest.
And on the next episode of Who Would Win...One of the most interesting battles we've ever done! Will the Patreon voted in Goliath (Repped by James) be too powerful or will the King of Arnor and Gondor Aragorn (Repped by Ray) be too great a fighter for the Gargoyle to overcome? How will special guest judge Luis Bermudez tally it up when victory is on the line? You can now support us on Patreon at Patreon.com/WhoWouldWinShowCheck out the Who Would Win YouTube Channel!https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvvgEElLPGQG2GXkqMhQ5JwCheck out our brand new Who Would Win Merch Store:WhoWouldWinStore.comFollow us all on Twitter: @WhoWouldWinShow @JamesGavsie @AlmightyRay @LuisBermudezVOMusic; Song: Evan King - End ThisYoutube: https://youtube.com/evankingaudioFree download at: https://www.evankingmusic.com&( “music by Twisterium / freebackgroundtracks.net”)WhoWouldWinShow.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/who-would-win/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Tolkien eventually did write a full account of how Isildur lost the Ring, but it didn't reach the public until Christopher Tolkien published the Unfinished Tales. Here's the story. If you haven't read the Appendices to the Lord of the Rings, but you've seen the movies, you might be wondering how Aragorn can be the descendant of Elendil and Isildur and yet he's seemingly a random wanderer far from Gondor. Wonder no more, because I'm going to explain the history of the other kingdom of the Dunedain: the northern kingdom of Arnor.
