People’s Candidates Challenge Corporate Parties The ruling class will attempt to do what they have always done: derail or push the movement off course from its final destination. But, the will of the people is to have an economy and government that are both finally of, for and by the people, and we will not be deterred.

Anger Boils Over at Denial of Healthcare Healthcare is a life or death matter. We have a right to it. The healthcare crisis gives us an opportunity to fight forward. The entire healthcare system should be publicly owned and healthcare should be free and available to everyone. We can take the first step in that direction by enacting a national single-payer public insurance system: improve Medicare and expand it to cover everyone.

In America health care has become a profit-making $3.2 trillion-a-year business, and you will be allowed to die if you don’t have insurance or money. It’s estimated some 45,000 people die every year in America because they lack health insurance. Health care is a human right, and should be available to everyone who lives in our country. Health care can be a for-profit commodity, or it can be a human right, but it can’t be both.

The national March for Science in Washington will be on Saturday, April 22, the annual Earth Day observance. I have been a working research scientist for almost 50 years. I will join the March for Science in opposition to the current threat to science and scientific theory. The dangers faced by the scientific community are inseparably intertwined with the attack on democracy, justice and economic survival. The billionaire ruling class has made several changes to lessen democracy in Baltimore and increase rule by a new form of police terror.  Fascism is much more than the Neo Nazis. It is the corporate/military takeover of government and the destruction of our democracy. The old police terror found in the back of a police van is decried while a new police terror is implemented with little knowledge or discussion.  This is done with tax dollars and private capitalist grants. This police state is for each of us, whether you protest Freddy Grey’s death, the pollution of the Bay, fracking or poor education, a system to deny your rights is being created.  Now is the time to stop it.

You must recognize the unfairness of a system that allows wealth to accumulate to an unlimited degree and claim to provide equal opportunity for the people. Whirlpool set its sights on turning the city of Benton Harbor into a lakeside resort for the wealthy. Whirlpool and other corporations teamed up and began transitioning the area from an industrial based economy to a tourist, real estate and service-based economy. I am afraid the parents, teachers and school board members have been misled and lied to by Whirlpool. Now we have three schools closing, overcrowded classrooms and there is no telling what kind of education the children will get. The economy and social equality is the essence of democracy and is the antithesis of capitalism. We must confront the Whirlpool Corporation at all cost.

This is no surprise, given the economic, moral, and political crisis. The crisis can’t be solved within an economy controlled by corporations and billionaires. Years of one-party rule by the Democratic Party has left Baltimore in shambles.  Now many people want a new alternative. A lot of new energy and new people are developing around this campaign. “My program  is to shift the power from the corporate interests in city government to the people who are impacted most. It’s about giving power to people who have been neglected for too long.”

The People Demand a Humane Society Electronic production is rapidly eliminating human labor in all sectors of the economy. This is causing a political crisis. US Justice Department Condemns Baltimore Police The Justice Department ordered many cosmetic changes, but BCPD had the last laugh. Under the nose of the US Justice Department, the BCPD operated an illegal spying operation that spied on all the people of Baltimore, including the Mayor and City Council. Dropping the benign mask of “Serve and Protect,” the police stand exposed as the ”watchdogs of private property.” Militarized, divorced from society, striving to become a law unto themselves, their every brutal, illegal act shapes the American fascist police state.

The American people want an end to homelessness The demands of the homeless and the whole of our class for the absolute right to housing and all else we need, not just to survive but to thrive, is in reality a cry for the overturning of the profit-driven system of private ownership, and for a society of sharing controlled by the people. This is the ultimate demand of the struggle for homeless rights, and everyone’s basic rights, and its logical outcome.

Government Must Guarantee Our Basic Needs The question is: “Why does anyone have the “right” to privately own our natural resources?” If the corporations cannot provide for our needs, then we must demand that government will. The demand that government provides health care, housing, education and water and guarantees them for the people is nationalization—or government takeover of the corporations—in the people’s interests. These demands are a bridge to a new society where the abundance produced is distributed to all based on need.

The Elections - How do we end Corporate Rule? Democratic and Republican parties are the twin parties of the corporations. They will tow the corporate line. The significance of this election lies in the unprecedented nature of our times, and that a section of the working class has taken a step toward declaring its political independence of the ruling class parties. The effort to push this independence forward must continue now and after the election. Revolutionaries can advance this process by putting forward the demand that the government guarantee the basic needs of the people.

In this effort to restructure cities, Michigan's Governor Snyder has institute a system of emergency management which eliminates democracy, and guarantee profits for corporations he represents. It was the appointed emergency manager of Flint who switched the city’s water supply to a polluted river water to “save money.” We must demand that the government guarantee food, clothing, housing, healthcare and safe water for all in our country who need it. Water Wars - Detroit Homrich 9 Trial Threat to democracy and jury system in water trial. The United Nations contends that water is a human right (UN Resolution 62/242) Providing water that is poisonous as in Flint Mi, denying water to families and children as in Detroit or jailing leaders, like Rev. Pinkney who fought corporate control of his community in Benton Harbor, these are just a signs of a system in decay. A system based on the private property of the billionaire class who holds political power. The only solution is a cooperative society where the needs of all the people are met.

The public view of police brutality is challenging the way police do their business. Video from phones and Twitter continue to expose police brutality. The rulers still have the power. The public is trapped between capitalism, drug gangsters whose gunfights kill every day, and police brutality. The murder rate, mainly of Black men, has risen to the highest in 40 years.

Police Violence - Baltimore Freddie Gray Died in Police Custody From the Pages - May 2015 BALTIMORE, MD — Freddie Gray died on April 19, after being violently subdued, and then subjected to one of the Baltimore Police Department’s infamous “rough rides.” The Freddie Gray case is different only because many people witnessed and recorded his arrest. You could hear him pleading for medical assistance as he was cuffed and thrown into a police van. Forty-five minutes later he was unconscious with a severed spinal cord. Hispanics and whites are also receiving Baltimore police clubs and bullets. Those who want Justice for Freddie Gray are learning several lessons. We need an organization that will represent us all.

Visitors have left pennies on his grave—Lincoln faces up—for good luck. Dred Scott was a slave who sued for his freedom in 1846. Over the course of a decade his case made its way up from local Missouri courts to the Supreme Court, which ruled that Scott, as a slave, “had no rights which the white man was bound to respect.” The court also moved to expand slavery throughout the nation, catalyzing the American Civil War.

From the Pages: The conditions for class unity are maturing. Automation is economically pushing society toward an irrepressible conflict. Commonly shared poverty and the permanent denial of the necessities of life by the owning class are giving rise to common demands. Whether you are Black and protesting in Ferguson or white, on welfare in Appalachia, the demand is the same for food, housing, health care, etc. None of these demands can be met without a cooperative society where social production is owned publicly and distributed according to need. The next step in that direction is for the new section of workers to become conscious of themselves as members of a class and unite on that basis.
