Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks joins The Winston Marshall Show to rip into Trump's China tariffs—and the bipartisan rot at the heart of American politics. He slams the MAGA trade war as clumsy and counterproductive, arguing that broad-brush tariffs will backfire economically and geopolitically. Uygur calls instead for smart, targeted industrial policy—and a higher minimum wage to lift up working Americans. With trademark fire, Cenk torches corporate capture in both parties, hails economic populists like Ro Khanna and Greg Casar, and urges the left to drop the culture wars and focus on kitchen-table issues: wages, drug prices, and inequality. All this—populism left and right, Trump's economic fallout, and the future of honest politics in an era of tribal madness… #trump #tariffs #politics -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------To see more exclusive content and interviews consider subscribing to my substack here: https://www.winstonmarshall.co.uk/-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FOLLOW ME ON SOCIAL MEDIA:Substack: https://www.winstonmarshall.co.uk/X: https://twitter.com/mrwinmarshallInsta: https://www.instagram.com/winstonmarshallLinktree: https://linktr.ee/winstonmarshall----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Chapters0:00 Introduction2:58 The Nature and Effects of Tariffs7:13 Economic Consequences of Tariffs15:05 Globalization and Its Impact on American Workers17:11 Corporate Rule and Its Influence on Politics43:50 Bernie Sanders and the Democratic Party57:46 AOC and the Culture Wars1:00:07 The Role of Corporate Lobbyists in Trade Deals1:02:22 The Impact of Corporate Subsidies1:05:54 Encouraging Independent Thinkers and Honesty1:08:13 Closing Remarks Hosted on Acast. And lo, the Magi came from afar, guided by a heavenly star to worship the Messiah of Mar-a-Lago.
Academics and environmental justice campaigners are demanding that the International Criminal Court (ICC), begin investigating and prosecuting environmental criminals. This demand would most likely include prosecution of Big Petroleum regarding its major role in global climate devastation. In response to these demands, the ICC's chief prosecutor, Karim Khan is developing a policy paper which will guide his office in terms of "accountability, transparency, and predictability" in this work. This move is long overdue. Unfortunately, it is not enough. Peacable protesters and activists are being targeted by the the UK government and prosecuted for offenses so trivial they would even make Dumb Donnie Trump blush. Dare to participate in a "slow march" and face prison time. Corporations are being given the power (not the right--but the POWER)--to attack citizens daring to use their right to peacable protest. This is done under the 'civil injunction' rule. There's so much more in terms of judicial and police abuse--so tune in. We will take a quick look at the decades old disinformation campaign sponsored by big petroleum pushing the lie that global warming is overblown, a hoax, a 'Chicken Little' panic. This is a 'teaser' for the next show. We will also have our Deplorables List and the Jackass of the Week Award. Tune in Sunday--or anytime. Jeanine

From Nov. 11-17, leaders from 20 nations across the Pacific Rim gathered in San Francisco for the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. An activist coalition known as No to APEC greeted the visiting world leaders with a countersummit decrying APEC as a forum to advance the interests of transnational corporations at the expense of workers and the environment. While the Biden administration worked to construct a new free trade regime in the Pacific exclusive of China, known as the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), grassroots organizations in the No to APEC Coalition advanced an alternate vision of international cooperation and development in opposition to the corporate, pro-war agenda pushed by the US and allied governments at APEC. The Real News speaks with Nina Macapinlac of the No to APEC Coalition Steering Committee. Nina Macapinlac is the Secretary General of BAYAN USA (Bagong Alyansang Makabayan). They also serve on the Steering Committee of the US Country Chapter of the International League of Peoples' Struggle (ILPS), an alliance of over 300 organizations around the world fighting imperialism. This week Maui resident, Paul Deslauriers, joins us to update us on how he and his merry band of activists were able to transform their local county government from “corporate rule” to “rule by the people” and how this template for change can be used nationwide. Plus, we parody the corporate sponsorship of baseball games.
Jeremy Lent, the founder of the Liology Institute and author of “The Patterning Instinct: A Cultural History of Humanity's Search for Meaning,” speaks with us about how corporations have become the “ruling force” in our world today, the vast impact of the internet on mankind, and why we need to broaden our thinking about the long-term implications of the coronavirus pandemic.
Part 1 in a discussion on the economy. We are told our form of winner take all capitalism is the only way, but in reality capitalism can take many forms. For instance a co op is owned by the workers and the profit is divided more evenly, and employees have a say in the companies policies and direction. The Elections - How do we end Corporate Rule? Democratic and Republican parties are the twin parties of the corporations. They will tow the corporate line. The significance of this election lies in the unprecedented nature of our times, and that a section of the working class has taken a step toward declaring its political independence of the ruling class parties. The effort to push this independence forward must continue now and after the election. Revolutionaries can advance this process by putting forward the demand that the government guarantee the basic needs of the people.

Former Presidential Candidate David Cobb representing the Green Party speaks about ending Corporate Rule and legalizing Democracy. On January 21, 2010, with it's ruling in Citizens' United v. Federal Election Commission, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are persons, entitled by the U.S. Constitution to buy elections and run our government. Human beings are people; corporations are legal fictions.
