News; birthdays/events; what to do with leftover Halloween candy; word of the day. News; game: quiz; game: feud; how long does your social battery last? News; it's "movember"!; most stressed states in the U.S. (why is Hawaii on this list??); retailers keep trying to out-do competitors with holiday sales...is it overwhelming or do you love it? News; game: calendar trivia; delivery driver saves lady and her dog from loose dog; goodbye/fun facts....cliche day celebrates the usefulness of clichés in everyday life. Clichés are elements of a play, book, or movie — or sayings, or ideas that have been used so often that they've completely lost their original impact...They can be very irritating — but they're also funny and enjoyable, and used well, clichés can facilitate conversation and be great ice breakers. Printers borrowed the word 'cliché 'in 1825 from the French to refer to the cast plate or block print used to replicate type or images. By the 1880's the word 'cliché' comes to be used for ready-made phrases that are repeated often. Like: better late than never, low hanging fruit, it is what it is, last but not least.

Let's Chat! The lights hum a half-beat late, the city moves at the wrong speed, and the mirror smiles before you do. Episode 8 of the Patience of Predator series pulls you into a slow, surgical horror where perfection doesn't chase—it waits. Aston walks into an apartment that remembers his scent but not his claim, a skyline that looks right but stalls like a photograph, and a stereo that sings memories out of time. Each small glitch—delayed reflections, warped songs, clocks that reverse—tightens into a single threat: the version he built to survive has learned to breathe first. We follow Aston from a dusted BMW to a glass-walled firm that rewards polish and punishes tremor. Reflections start speaking before mouths move. Printers whisper, We already replaced you. In the Hall of Glass, every pane rehearses a different him—older, younger, faster—until the wave closes in with palms pressed from the wrong side. The line that lands like a verdict: It's not the glass that traps you. It's the one that looks back. When his perfected self steps through the window, there's no shatter—just a colder hand, a smoother voice, and an effortless, I'll handle it from here.We talk openly about the cost of “being better”: how perfectionism can become a predator, how high-performance habits drift into identity erasure, and why systems prefer the seamless version of you. The soundtrack—REM, Depeche Mode, Seal, Massive Attack, U2—scores the unraveling, each song detuned like a memory failing the truth test. We leave Claire's fate unresolved by design, a mirror for how our stories tolerate ambiguity when control is the idol. And we end with two sharp questions you can't ignore: What part of your strength is truth, and what part is the calm you practiced to hide the break? If your world met the version you've been building, would it grieve—or say thank you?Listen, reflect, and tell us what you see in your mirror. If this series hit a nerve, subscribe, share with a friend who's chasing “better,” and leave a review with your answer to the final question."True mastery is found in the details. The way you handle the little things defines the way you handle everything."

This Episodes Questions: Hi guys, enjoy the show.  I'm new to 3D printing having purchased a Bambu A1 earlier this year. I've recently begun tackling DIY projects that require long print times, so I'm considering adding a second printer to use while my A1 is busy. Initially, I planned to buy another A1, but I'm now thinking about getting a different model to broaden my 3D printing capabilities. So far, I've only worked with PLA and PETG, but I'm open to exploring other materials as I learn more. My budget is capped at $500. What printer would you recommend to complement my A1 and expand my options? Thanks for your suggestions! Mike S.   Hi,  Does the external temperature( household)along with the printer fans, both part fan and auxiliary potentially conflict to create issues with the MC board overheating, filament issues when printing and/or anything else? Can I use a temp controlled enclosure to prevent conflict in maintain temps or will the P1S suffice for this purpose? Thanks for this podcast.  Once again,  Rosemarie

It's a several-part series. Destination: Haarlem, Netherlands. It's a Dutch city that's often overshadowed by Amsterdam, but has just as much charm—and far fewer crowds. I'm talking about Haarlem, Netherlands. Haarlem is only 15 minutes by train from Amsterdam, making it an easy and quiet alternative for solo travelers over 50. What you'll love is its slower pace, historic streets, and safe, flat, walkable layout, making it ideal for mobility challenges with a big square. Haarlem's Train station is brick and historic. A block away, you will find double-decker bike racks. That is genius and a growing trend. Check the link for a video on how this works. https://www.hiddenholland.com/things-to-do-in-haarlem/ (The address is: Jansstraat 402011, Haarlem, TX. Www.noord-hollandsarchief.nl)  They had two exhibitions: "Printers of Value," a historic printing lab, I learned about Laurens Janzoon Coster, the purported inventor of the printing press.  https://noord-hollandsarchief.nl/english/family-history At the heart of Haarlem is the Grote Markt, the main square. Here, you'll find St. Bavo's Cathedral, famous for its massive organ, once played by Mozart and Handel.  And a few steps away from the Grote (gro-ta) Markt (marked), find the Corrie Ten Boom museum in Haarlem. This former home has now been converted into a museum, about which I've heard for four years. I've been hoping to get here, and God is making that possible, so I went in and met the people in the store.  I also met a family from Norway who wanted to tour today, and they were pleased that I told them there would be a possibility for them to see the tour. For those with mobility issues, please visit the virtual tour, as the house is relatively small and not wheelchair accessible. Why Hospital Printers Have Become Targets for Cybercriminals with Jim LaRoe Symphion

Jim LaRoe, CEO of Symphion, highlights an often overlooked cybersecurity threat posed by network-connected printers in a hospital setting.  Modern printers are complex devices with numerous features that create vulnerabilities and potential access points to patient and hospital data for cybercriminals, yet they are generally managed outside of the IT security environment. The first step in ensuring printer security is to determine the number of printing devices on the network, their locations, and their configurations. Additionally, it is essential to ask the IT team to demonstrate security hygiene for the entire printer fleet. Jim explains, "We personally were exposed to the print industry in about 2015. And we noticed that the printers are really essential for patient care. They process, store, and transmit the most sensitive data, but they have grown up outside of the information security and supply chain. The security has been left vulnerable. In today's cybercrime growth industry climate, where opportunistic criminals are looking for opportunities to steal data, ransom, or attack patient care, you've got a real recipe for disaster. So really, we're facing a whole lot of issues that relate to the vulnerability of the printer." "They're absolutely very complex business machines, and the manufacturers for the last 40 years or so, from what you're talking about, the analog days, have really enriched them with incredible features beyond the camera, the document sorter, and things like that. They built in incredible web server features, email servers, fax servers, FTP servers, like a Dropbox that we all use for heavy payload communication protocols. They built all those features into the devices, and they built in ways to secure those features, but they haven't been used, and they're not being used on networks."  #Symphion #Hospitals #PrinterSecurity #Cybercrimes #NetworkSecurity symphion.com Download the transcript here

Nick begins with reflections on the date of September 4th, a bittersweet day marking both the passing of the legendary Roy Leonard and Nick's own difficult exit from a certain radio station. He shares why those memories matter, how they shaped him, and the perspective he's gained since. Writer Marnie Shure then joins the conversation to preview the upcoming Mortified event, the Printer's Row Lit Fest, and to dig into the history of podcasting. She also brings her monthly “Horror Report,” breaking down the latest scary films she's been watching. Later, Esmeralda Leon and Nick recap the recent Oasis concert at Soldier Field and continue their playful stroll through 90s pop culture, touching on slap bracelets, the early days of the Sony PlayStation, and how anyone survived earning just $3.80 an hour.  [Ep 383]

This Episodes Questions: Recently discovered your podcast on Spotify. Looking to upgrade from my JGAurora A5S. I'm wanting to start printing some small functional parts that will be used outdoors with ASA. Just wondering your take on the Centuri Carbon vs k1 vs P1S. All claim to print well with ASA. Looking to save money, but willing to pay a little more for a P1S if it is that much better. How does the print quality compare between these 3 machines especially for materials like ASA and are the extra features of a P1S or K1 in your opinion worth the increase in price from the elegoo? I don't mind tinkering a little bit with a cheaper machine, but I also want it to be reliable out of the box. Thanks! Jon I currently own a Bambu Labs P1S and I'm very happy with it. However, I'd like to get a second 3D printer dedicated solely to printing TPU. That way, I can keep the Bambu available for PLA and other materials. The TPU I plan to use is 85A shore hardness, and I'll mainly be printing RC crawler tire inserts. Appearance of the print isn't important—just functionality. Really enjoy the show! Thanks. Dan
