Warning, this one is really sad.Pulled over for speeding, no criminal past. Five children and a husband at home. Disappeared. Deported. A broken family left behind. You know why you haven't heard about this story? Because it happened under Obama. Imagine if this happened under Trump. Imagine how many Democrats would fly to Mexico to find this woman and exploit her story.2007. Obama: Americans don't want a situation where illegals get a pathway to citizenship and then several hundred thousand more illegals are let in.Hey Barack, Biden let in about 10 million illegals and now your party is saying that they shouldn't be deported. Crazy right?"Open borders? That's a Koch brothers proposal which essentially says there is no United States... It would make everyone in America poorer... Right-wing people would love an open border to bring in all kinds of people to work for $2 to $3 an hour." - Bernie Sanders 2015"Disrupt. Make them uncomfortable" - Don Lemon in MN after he stormed a church to "protest ICE"Border Patrol agent calls out liberal woman for being performative for the camera, woman eventually apologizes.

Back in June, 22-year-old registered nurse Vilma Palacios had just accepted a position at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans when she was arrested by ICE agents. She then spent six months in a detention center, all while family members and immigration advocates called for her release, pointing to her community involvement, lack of a criminal record and commitment to nursing during a time of a nursing shortage. But in late December, she returned to Honduras, a country she had not visited since she left as a child. Palacios joins us to share her story, her experience in detention and why she still has hope.Since May of 2020, WWNO's Rosemary Westwood has been a leading reproductive health care reporter in the U.S. She's broken stories on restricted access to abortion care, rising rates of whooping cough and growing numbers of medications listed as controlled substances. After nearly five years with the station, Rosemary is moving on to a new opportunityShe joins us to reflect on her career and journey with WWNO and WRKF.___Today's episode of Louisiana Considered was hosted by Alana Schreiber. We have Paul Mauro from Fox News on to talk Minneapolis, and Jim Carafano to explain what Trump means by "MIGA."
Today, we’re bringing you the best from the KUOW Newsroom… We’ll start with a story about a local family who self-deported to Guatemala earlier this week. The family of 3 and their cat left on Wednesday after losing their asylum case. Casey Martin has the story. Our other story comes from Bellingham. The city of Bellingham is conducting an internal investigation after evidence was uncovered that a staffer may have rigged a bidding process for a city contract to favor one vendor over another. What is new, though, is that the city employee allegedly used ChatGPT to skew the outcome. At least one expert says it may be the first time AI has been at the center of this kind of scandal. KNKX reporter Nate Sanford talked about it with KUOW’s Kim Malcolm in a recent interview. We can only make Seattle Now because listeners support us. Kamil Philip was born in post-Communist Poland and came to the U.S. with his family on a one-month visa that turned into a lifelong fight for survival. Growing up in a Long Island junkyard, Kamil's version of the American dream spiraled into gun charges, forged documents, and years of run-ins with the law. But his biggest battle wasn't prison—it was deportation. After losing his mother and being targeted by a detective determined to ruin his future, Kamil faced being sent back to the country his family risked everything to leave. Against all odds, a judge let him stay, and he rebuilt his life from scratch. Today, he's a successful business owner who employs ex-cons, mentors young people, and teaches others how to build their own second chance. From selling guns and fake documents to nearly being deported, Kamil's story is a powerful journey of survival, redemption, and what it really takes to overcome the system. #LockedInWithIanBick #TrueCrime #DrugTrafficking #DeportationStory #PrisonStories #Immigration #RedemptionStory #realstories Thank you to RULA & PELIPOST for sponsoring this episode: Rula: Rula patients typically pay $15 per session when using insurance. Orgullosa and her daughter, Estrella, began to rebuild their lives after they were separated in the U.S.-Mexico border under the first Trump administration in 2018. Today's Headlines: Trump, posting from London, declared “Antifa” a terrorist organization—even though it's not an actual organization—while mulling racketeering charges with AG Pam Bondi against unnamed left-wing groups. Meanwhile, watchdogs say Russia's “Operation Overlord” is pumping out fake news, memes, and even Pedro Pascal quotes to stir division after Charlie Kirk's assassination. The Pentagon, for its part, is eyeing machine learning-driven propaganda tools abroad, and even floating a recruitment campaign using Turning Point USA offices “in Kirk's honor.” Speaking of deals, the New York Times dropped a bombshell linking Trump's family cryptofirm World Liberty Financial to a $2B investment from the UAE, followed suspiciously by U.S. approval to send Emiratis advanced AI chips—despite intel concerns they'll land in China. In other news, House Oversight launched an investigation into ABC, Disney, and Sinclair over Jimmy Kimmel's suspension after FCC threats. Sinclair called the punishment “not enough” and demanded Kimmel apologize and cut a check to Turning Point USA. The same committee also summoned the CEOs of Discord, Reddit, Twitch, and Steam to testify on platform radicalization October 8. On the Turning Point front, Charlie Kirk's widow Erika Kirk has been unanimously elected as the org's new CEO. On immigration, a judge ordered Columbia grad Mahmoud Khalil to be deported to Syria or Algeria, citing omissions on his green card application—including past political affiliations—though supporters say it's punishment for his activism against the Gaza war. And to end this crazy week, Limewire (yes, Limewire) bought the Fyre Festival brand on eBay for $245K and says it's planning “real world experiences.” Resources/Articles mentioned in this episode: CNN: Trump says he's designating Antifa as a terrorist organization ABC News: Security analysts flag rise in Russian-created misinformation posts on social media following Kirk shooting The Intercept: Pentagon Document: U.S. Wants to “Suppress Dissenting Arguments” Using AI Propaganda NYT: In Giant Deals, U.A.E.
