It's hard to imagine shopping at the local grocery store and encountering a group of spirits in the cracker aisle, yet that was just one step on Beau Maxwell's fascinating journey to recognizing and embracing her abilities as a Medium. Beau's story is heartfelt, she has a healthy sense of humor that makes the book enjoyable. I found myself becoming ever more curious about unseen entities as her adventures unfolded. Beau revealed the pitfalls of doing readings at the county fair, the pain of dealing with jealousy from other professional readers, and her bumpy transition into a new line of work that included ghost-busting stuck souls from haunted houses. What made this autobiography most compelling for me was Beau's quest to fulfill her purpose. She realizes that this mediumship is her purpose and it's not going to be an easy path. There are underlying themes of how she is coming to terms with problematic family relationships…we all have those in some form or another. She also is learning that she doesn't have to share everything that picks up on from the spirits, and she has a few experiences instilled in her a code of ethics about the sharing of information. And who knew there was even a market for ghostbusting haunted houses! Her book made it sound like that was something she does "on the regular!" Beau doesn't suit up and strap on a proton-pack for her form of ghostbusting, but rather, she evokes a form of spiritual protection she calls “GPC,” ground, clear, and protect. Mostly, she busts the vaporlike beings with love or in a tough-love kinda' way.
The Queen's Code is a bit of an anomaly in that it thinly guises teaching within a fictional story. In fact, the plot is driven by two women, Kimberlee and Karen, learning “man lessons” from Kimberlee's grandmother.Remember a book called “The Celestine Prophecy?” The Queen's Code requires a similar willingness on the part of the reader to trudge through some slow scenes and awkward dialogue constructed specifically to deliver its promised nuggets of wisdom. My expectation for this book was not riveting fiction. I was reading to gain information about the masculine perspective, and Armstrong's The Queen's Code did deliver that. I would even say that the insights shared were enhanced by the story context. The supporting cast of characters helped illustrate challenges a reader might face in living out the Queen's Code despite the story feeling a bit contrived. What did I learn? To my surprise, I had been a “frog farmer,” a woman who turns princes into frogs.I could suddenly see how women (including myself) unwittingly emasculate men.I learned specific words and ways of communicating that I could immediately test for myself in my own relationships. And they worked.I came away with an expanded understanding of men's needs, and a willingness to allow myself to be freer in exercising my feminine energy. This book gave me a better understanding of what a partnership looks like and how to speak in a way that strengthens that dynamic. Ahh…all those painful therapy sessions…and then one book suddenly “clicks!”I also loved how Armstrong illustrated that misusing the code could backfire. I respect that her intent is not to spawn man-manipulation seminars, but rather to teach—those who are ready and willing to learn— how to celebrate the aspects of both masculine and feminine energies and how they complement each other. The Queen's Code may or may not be the book that resonates with you at this time. But for me, I'm grateful to demystify the masculine and let go of judging it against the feminine. That's a big relief because it frees me. For that reason, this book gets five stars.
I only recently discovered Neville Goddard, during the pandemic. He has quite a body of work, so I wondered how I could have missed him up until now. In his day, he was considered among the teachers of “New Thought” even though he didn't claim any particular label. His teaching often includes stories from the Bible reinterpreted from the perspective of its content as a metaphor for psychological truths. In this book, chapter one is titled, not what is your imagination, but who is your imagination? Neville's perspective is that imagination is synonymous with Christ Consciousness as well as man himself. He states, “A man can be seen when in imagination he is, for a man must be where his imagination is, for his imagination is himself.” He says,” The mystery hid from the ages…Christ in you, the hope of glory, is your imagination. This is the mystery which I am ever striving to realize more keenly myself and to urge upon others.”Neville's awakened imagination is about matching mental activity to the desired state, and in so doing, activating it, resurrecting it, and giving it life. It's a very interesting view, relying on the notion that creation is already complete. Everything already exists. This thinking has been echoed by many works that came later, like Abraham Hicks's law of attraction that speaks about a “Vortex” that holds the future reality of all the things we'd like to manifest. Neville describes the mansions in the House of God as rooms containing a hall of sculptures that contain infinite plots and dramas that lay dormant. They are activated as Human Imagination enters and fuses with them. (Capital H and I because he is referring to the awakened imagination.) I wonder, is this creating, or is this “remembering?” Or is it choosing from one of many infinite possibilities?
This book has been sitting patiently in my Kindle library since 2012, waiting for me to find the motivation to break the habit of being me. “But why would I not want to be me,” my ego wailed in protest. The answer to how to overcome my ego's fearmongering lies within the 297 pages of this eBook, a well-thought-out treatise that spends the bulk of its volume grounding its promise of transformation in science and metaphysics. If you are new to “Dr. Joe,” you should know that he has a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and has post-graduate training in neuroscience and neuroplasticity. He gained notoriety after writing his book, Evolve Your Brain: The Science of Changing Your Mind, and appearing in the 2006 docudrama exploring human consciousness called, What the Bleep: Down the Rabbit Hole. More recently he's published Becoming Supernatural: How Common People Are Doing the Uncommon and is the host of meditation retreats and workshops that continually attract raving fans and followers, many of them who give extraordinary accounts of healing and transformation. Subtitled The Art of Mastering your Intuition and Fearlessly Being Yourself. This is not a book about the typical empath issues of distinguishing your own feels, protecting the self energetically and regaining sovereignty. Rather it is about embracing empathy as bridge to a divine interconnected way of life, the mystic.Sohl suggests that when an empath commits to pursue spiritual growth, the natural path is sustainability and harmony, and this can be expressed through individual healing or as a business consciousness. He says the truly empowered empath is a voice for divine harmony in the body and the earth. This book is as much a workbook as it is a text, it is filled with journaling prompts. Sohl strongly encourages you to not only work through the questions but to take actions that build discipline along this path of spiritual growth. He uses four pillars as the structure to develop intuition: vision, connectivity, receptivity, and creativity. He has an author’s website that supplements the book and includes an intuition quiz or self-diagnosis that is also an appendix in the book. The quiz is supposed to help you identify if you are imbalanced so you can strengthen your pillars accordingly.I learned some things about myself in this book. It gave me the personal aha-moment or two that was satisfying for me. For example, as a child, when your gifts not recognized, nourished, and welcomed…it creates the experience of malnourishment inside. I’d never really associated that term “malnourishment” with my feelings, but it does seem so on point…I could see a big theme in my life was always feeling unsatisfied and trying to prove my talent and seek external validation.Empath to Mystic says...
A manual for living comfortably in the cosmosThis is a channeled book that offers spiritual perspective across a range of topics and questions that lie in the minds of many seekers. These issues range from serious earthly concerns like abortion, suicide, murder, marriage, sexuality to broader themes including God, enlightenment, Christ, love, eternity, and life after death. The answers that Emmanuel gives are written in verse rather than paragraph form, and there is lots of white space in the margins and some tiny sketches thrown in for good measure. This is the first of the Emmanuel’s series of book, published in 1987; there have been several others published since. The themes in this book are very empowering. The subtitle, for living comfortably in the cosmos, could be restated, perhaps, living with more conscious awareness and the accompanying responsibility it brings, OR living with more joy, more freedom, and a greater ability to choose to see light and love. For example,Whenever the feeling comes over youThat you have no choices ...
What drew me to this book, aside from the neon-colored book jacket was my personal quest for “aha-moments” that would evoke clarity about my own calling. I came to this book with that desire, and no knowledge of the author, who is a celebrity medium of sorts. The book is about how to tune into your own ‘Essence,’ recognize subtle energies, signs, symbols, messages from the Divine that might otherwise be missed. After spending some time exploring what Essence is, and how to listen to it to improve daily life, the book moves towards its more serious theme of inspiring you to think about what good you are doing in your life today. It suggests that you take action towards the good that you can do by embracing change, sharing love, and being in a state of gratitude. This is a quiet book, more like a tapestry than a treasure map. The topics are illustrated with many stories from Char’s client readings, interwoven with tales and folklore, and embroidered with quotes from a variety of classic poets, writers, authors, and gurus, past and present. All of these are well-chosen and effective in supporting each premise...
A Beginner’s Guide to Card Meanings, Spreads and Intuitive Exercises.Stefanie Caponi has delivered an excellent guide to the Tarot in this book. It is extremely well organized and friendly for the beginner, and that’s me! The size and layout of the book was very effective for presenting images of the cards in color. Each section begins with a view of all the cards in that category, that is very helpful! The highlights of the individual cards meaning is in a colored column beneath the card’s image, and the explanations are broken into General Reading, Love/Romance, Career/Money, Personal/Spiritual and Reversed. In addition, there is a quick reference guide in the back for each and every card with its page index, name, thumbnail and upright and reversed meanings. What more could you want in terms of making this guide easy to use?One of the exercises Caponi offered was to “interview” your deck. So, I took her up on that and pulled a card to answer the first suggested inquiry, “What is the work we are to do together?” I further focused that in on my desire for Susie Thewes Reviews. I am using the Light Seers Tarot, a wonderfully illustrated deck by Chris Anne. I pulled the Queen of Wands, and immediately felt the power of her. Flipping to the chart in the back of the book, I saw this card related to creativity, ambition, and in its inverse, the feeling of being unworthy with blocked ambition. This card summed up my “Drawer of Unrealized Dreams” story that I had been telling myself for decades. Caponi’s description of the card:Feminine energy of intuitive creativity an emotional intelligence combined with passion and heart-centered action are held within the Queen of Wands. There is even more to like about this guide...
This book opens your awareness to the threefold path: conscious living, mindful consumption, and collective impact, by immersing you in a way of thinking understood and shared by Native Americans over many, many generations. The Think Indigenous model anchors virtues, the elements, the seasons, and spiritual practices around the Seven Sacred Directions in the Hoop of Life. Good Feather teaches readers to connect with the Divine using stories drawn from his heritage, spiritual practices, and gentle encouragement. I enjoyed learning about The Way of the Buffalo, how Sacred Hoops are formed, and intend to adopt the practice of a Spirit Plate. Spirit plates are an invitation for ancestors to join you at the table; you serve them a forkful of each dish and bit of drink as a way of letting their spirits know they are still with you.Good Feather says, “All of our embarrassing little imperfections don’t seem so imperfect when we have a powerful sense of self-respect. Having the courage and self-respect to simply be who we are is the best way we can show up and contribute to the world.” This kind of message, for me, never gets old. Good Feather illuminates the need for healing through accepting responsibility. One example is how he suggests that without rites of passage, modern men suffer disconnection from their masculinity. Taking responsibility for providing, nurturing, and protecting are indigenous principles that connect man to himself, his village, and Mother Earth. This connection to these responsibilities—and yes, including nurturing— instills virility, vitality, and keeps the inner light of man alive...
Alchemy, by Paul SeligThis book was written from a series of channeled lectures delivered by Paul Selig. Paul is a very experienced channel who has a number of books spanning two decades of communication with and through his guides. You may ask, “Who are his guides? Answered, “We are who you become when you truly know who you truly are.”This book asked me, who about who would I be if I were not the definition that I hold of myself? That is the point where the “alchemy” begins, with a willingness to re-know, re-conceive, re-articulate and to reclaim the divinity that lies within. The book uses music as reference point, speaking of octaves of vibration. As you say yes to the who and what you truly are, “I am a Divine Self, I am in form as the Divine Self,” you go into an agreement at a higher octave that can summon forth the inherent Divine by nature of being. The guides talk about life in terms of octaves that equate to levels if you will. Octaves are vibratory, and tie into the concept of us as vibrational beings in a body, perhaps for now. Then later as we evolve to higher octaves that physical body transforms into a light body and finally into pure consciousness. Throughout the book, you’ll hear refrains, often repeated in a series of threes:I have come I have come I have come.I am known I am known I am known.I am knowing myself as beyond what I thought possible.I am knowing myself as beyond what I thought possible.I am knowing myself as beyond what I thought possible. The theme of claiming ourselves as Divine echoes throughout the delivery of many familiar spiritual concepts. For example: “I am Word through my body. Word I am Word. I am Word through my vibration. Word I am Word. I am Word through knowing of myself as Word.” When you claim these words, you align to them. But the guides specify that this differs from the ego thinking that “I am God.” They say, “You do not become the Christ. The Christ becomes you.” There is an acknowledgment of the ego…The True Self knows, the small self thinks. I envision it as the ego stepping aside or falling away to allow the truth of who we are to expand fully, to come fully alive within us. Another concept these guides use is the idea of “an Upper Room.” This is a place that when we agree to resonate with it, we step into this higher octave of awareness that exists beyond our current physical identity. They explain, “This is not the only lifetime you live in this moment.”...
This is a lovely expressive book that feels almost like an art journal. Author Nicole C. Ayers leaves no body part in the cold, from her thyroid to the rough patches of her heels. The art is energetic and has a child-like quality that transported me to that place of innocent acceptance and delight--the place I'd truly like to stay with this amazing life vessel that I have so often disrespected, ignored, abused and taken for granted. I would happily gift this book to young lady as an antidote for the body pressure she will inevitably face, whether internal or external, as her physique shapeshifts through life.Being transparent with you, I came to this work via its artist Mica Gadhai. We met in Target, where she was working and helping me find a notebook. We easily got to chatting about writing and art. Mica’s in-person energy was as magical as the paintings she created for the book. Her work is like the comforting, colorful quilt that you’d love to wrap yourself up in while enjoying the Chai Tea Latte that is the voice of Ayers. Together their intended message results in a book that is truly a feel-good ‘happiness snack...’
I listened to this on audible books and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. While you won’t find me grappling in a pit with the local village wrestling champion in Africa, nor would I insist on remaining naked if I’m ever arrested while playing the bongos in my birthday suit, however…my mom did sell the oil of Mink back in the day! I bonded with Matthew throughout this book in ways that helped me see parts of myself differently, through his lens of bumper-stickers philosophies, wet-dream inspiration from the Universe, and greenlights. Not only was the book inspiring, but McConaughey painted scenes with lyrical prose. There was a cadence and rhythm that at times felt like he was the music in a feature film. I loved his description of New Orleans, his story of his dad reviving the bird, as well as the moments when he steps back and philosophizes about his life. The voice acting is what you would expect from a talented award-winning actor and helped me see and love the many colorful characters that have peppered his journey.I came away with a great appreciation for the author as a storyteller. He carried me through a range of experiences and feelings and landed me on the edge of new precipice to reflect upon my own journey. Get this one as an audiobook, the narration amps up the enjoyment! After I gave Greenlights the Susie Thewes Reviews green light, I read some other reviews just for fun. I like reading the opposite reviews to get some perspective. I was curious...
The Convoluted Universe Book Two is a hefty tome. I purchased it on Audible Books; listening to it at regular speed is a 23-hour 26-minute investment of time. (BTW, the entire series is comprised of five volumes)! Might be just the perfect thing if you were traveling around the world. Indeed, the listen will leave you feeling like you have traversed galaxies and dimensions. You will encounter many worlds and expand your ideas of intelligent life along way, including ancient beings such as the cat people, an Aborigine, and mystics living in caves as well as energy beings and other alien/human-ish life forms teleporting to Earth from the future.Cannon gathered this content when interviewing subjects whom she regressed to past lives through her Quantum Healing Hypnosis techniques. Cannon then recorded and transcribed her questions and the reply from the past life person or being that spoke through her hypnotized subject. One interesting thing about Delores Cannon is that as she travelled around the world to speak and investigate, her fans would reach out to share their own personal encounters with UFOs, ETs and the unexplained and invite her to visit. Cannon went to the UK, Egypt, former Soviet Countries, remote areas of Australia and New Zealand, and parts of Asia, where she would gather evidence and attempt to put pieces together from the many stories and experiences shared by her fans and the individuals who participated in her Quantum Healing Hypnosis. The Convoluted Universe is a rich vein for sci-fi and fantasy writers, TV and movie producers and those who wish to voyage into faraway worlds with them. If you are hiking in the forest listening to Convoluted Universe, you may soon find yourself looking around for secret portals or a crack in stone that will magically open to an underground civilization...
Destiny of Souls is a fascinating look into conversations between Dr. Newton, who is a past life regressionist specializing in spiritual hypnotherapy, and his clients. This book follows his ground-breaking first volume, Journey of Souls, that explores essentially the same question, “What do souls do between lives?” If you are curious, as was I, the dearly departed aren’t exactly resting in peace. The format for this book is a large part Q & A, with “Dr. N” asking probing questions of his subjects while they are under hypnosis. It’s not unlike the work of Delores Cannon, except that Cannon drops her subjects into a past life from a cloud and Dr. N. usually begins his interviews in the moments that the subject is departing the planet and moving into the other planes.I purchased the Kindle version of this book, but I found myself yearning for a physical copy, so that I could more easily flip around and revisit some of the ideas. Once I started to dip into Destiny of Souls, I found it hard to put down. It was so fascinating to think about stepping into this “next world” of being in spirit and how that is a school for our continued learning and development, as well as a time for processing experiences and lessons from the past life. I learned that each person has an assigned guide or guides to help them through the lifetime. The guide is more like a personal guru than a guardian angel. Newton says they are “personal teachers, beings who have incarnated in physical form long before graduating to the level of guides.” Having a spiritual guru beneath an ascended master but wiser than me, is an exciting idea. But there’s more if we go further up the wisdom hierarchy...
I was so excited to discover Brian Scott on YouTube about a year ago. He had this podcast going, The Reality Revolution Podcast, where he reads spiritual books, mostly classic material, and he also does these amazing meditations. This book opens with his story, how he got sucked into reality transurfing during an invasion of his home. This was fascinating to me; I had never heard of reality transurfing or quantum jumping before Brian. Brian is a voracious reader, and you can feel his love of knowledge as he narrates the material he chooses to present. He is just the kind of narrator that I love, he sprinkles in some history about the book and its author and his thoughts about connection to other works, while holding room for the skeptical mind. Due to his being extremely well-read, he is a deep well of knowledge, but he holds this pure eagerness and enthusiasm that invites and welcomes newcomers and explorers. This book is just like that. The first chapter of The Reality Revolution is Quantum Mechanics. To set the stage for ideas including reality transurfing and quantum jumping, this is a necessary step to be sure readers are on board. He knits together the brilliance of so many Masters and authors whose work he shares on the podcast, and in doing so offers many chords that might resonate with readers. In addition, he lays out “just enough” of the science—it delivers me right up to the line where my mind goes, “Okay this is as far as you can take me, Brian. That’s as science-y as this right-brain gets.”Brian talks about reality hacks, including his own AURA technique of activating and actualizing alternate realities. He speaks about breaking through the mental constructs that we have created around our selves and our lives based on our memories of the past that we keep bringing forward each day...
This book is a translation and interpretation of an esoteric teaching, said to have originated with Hermes Trismegistus who is thought to have transformed himself into an ancient Egyptian god with this knowledge. The name “Trismegistus” means “thrice great,” so Hermes wasn’t just awesome, he was awesome cubed. This Kabalion is part of a trilogy of works known as the “Hermetic Writings” and the only one of the three that was not written down in the earlier times, but rather passed down in secrecy to Initiates “when the student was ready.” In 1912 the Kybalion was first published by three anonymous Initiates, so that caused some controversy. Are you seeing the power of a triune playing into things here…Mr. Thrice Great, a trilogy of work and three anonymous Initiates…Holy trinity Batman! So what does the Kabalion contain? The secrets it reveals are seven laws of the Universe. These laws are not so much commandments as they are information about how the Universe functions. How things work, and if you become conscious of this knowledge, you can then choose to flow more harmoniously with the Devine Source of Intelligence that is not only behind it all but is IT. Barnes uses capital I, capital T, like say, a corporate IT infrastructure. But IT is also Source or God.Barnes intent with his book was to translate an obscure and challenging text into something that the modern, everyday person could read and understand. He is very successful with that, in my opinion. In fact, the temptation might be to quickly consume the book in one or two sittings. But what I love about The Kybalion 101, Barnes version, is that it is eloquently written, lyrical, like poetry...
I bought Angel Prayers and Angel Numbers after seeing an interview with Kyle Gray on YouTube. This is an immensely likeable young Scottish man who seems to live his daily life talking to angels. Despite that books about Angels are among the top selling spiritual book categories, I never took the time to learn about them. I knew that people would pray and invoke specific named angels, but I didn’t know that there is an angel hierarchy and angels with specific assigned duties! When the books arrived, I decided to begin by asking for the information that I needed to be shown, and randomly opening the book. I landed on page 44. “If we’re looking beyond the present for the answer, we are not in a state of love, but fear.”Wow. Kyle goes on to say, “What we have to do is feel healed now, to know that healing has already taken place and to give our power to this moment, the holy instant.”The holy instant is so very “A Course in Miracles” which is THE book that first transformed my life when I was in my early thirties. Kyle then goes on to share a personal story of a skateboard injury, and he does so with all the spiritual humor that I could imagine....
Automatic writing is a superpower. If you are a professional writer or someone who journals this book can help you up-level your creative game by connecting you to the voice of wisdom—perhaps your own personal Awe—that lies within. The A-W-E or AWE in the title stands for Automatic Writing Experience …that acronym works, right? Brilliant! When I first caught a glimpse of this book on Michael Sandler’s YouTube, I wondered, “How could a person write an entire book around something that was as natural to me as breathing?” If you are a writer, isn’t there always a little voice in your head? The answer to how AWE is awesome is:...
