Ask yourself, "am I blending my faith with the world?" In other words, are you allowing yourself to blend or bend your faith to allow things in that are not righteous and of God? It has brought the question "why God?" And honestly, I can't really answer that for you. But, I can tell you what I have learned...and that is this world is temporary. And it's time we start blaming evil and darkness for the evil and darkness in the world. God has a plan. We may not understand it. It sometimes is an unimaginably painful plan. But, this world is temporary and it is not our forever home. And friendly reminder, evil might look like it wins here on earth, but they absolutely lose in the very end!

Hey friends! I am feeling better and back with another episode for you! On today's episode, we are going to dive into what mercy means. And my goal today is to help you grow your perspective on mercy and grace. How God's mercy is big enough to cover any size of sin, not just yours. I see it so many times where "Christians" live thinking their sin isn't as bad or wicked as someone else's sin to the point where it can make unbelievers feel that God's mercy isn't big enough for their sin. That someone they are too far gone and have done too many bad things to be saved. But that is totally not true! So I want to dive into mercy today, and help us remember that God's mercy isn't just for a select few with "minor sins", but it's for ALL who call on the name of Jesus.

Today, we are in Mark 14, when Jesus goes to the garden of Gethsemane. This is where He is full of sorrow and deep distress, to the point of crying tears of blood. What could have caused Jesus to feel such deep sorrow? Perhaps you are feeling deep sorrow, too. This episode of a reminder of two things: 1) Jesus went through every joy and pain and sorrow that you will go through in life. He was fully God but, also, fully human. He felt joy and pain. And this passage is a reminder of that. Our lives won't be pain free because Jesus' life wasn't pain free. 2) We put a lot of focus on the temporary. But I want to remind you that this world and this body is temporary. The pain and sorrow you are going through, even if it feels like it has lasted an eternity, is, in fact, temporary. It will eventually end. And, as believers, we need to remember that our pain here is valid, but we have a promise of something so much more beautiful that this world: heaven!! And that is having an eternal perspective.    Resources www.valreynolds.com Connect with me info@valreynolds.com Follow me @val_reynolds

Does this mean we can't supplement with sermons, podcasts, or seek the advice of someone who is more mature in their faith? Absolutely not! Why hasn't God answered your prayer like He has for other people?? How come you feel like your prayers have gone unanswered and life is a struggle, and yet another person's life looks picture perfect and full of blessing and easy street?Well...the answer might not be what you think? *hint* It's less about fairness and more about generosity. Support the showWork with me // www.valreynolds.comConnect with me // @val_reynoldsCollab with me // info@valreynolds.com

Personal Convictions vs. Biblical Principals: What's The Difference and What Should We Do If Someone Disagrees With Our Convictions?

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 10, 2022 36:32

Hey friends! Today we are in Romans 14, a passage where Paul tackles the issue of what he calls "disputable matters". These disputable matters are essentials matters that are not black and white in the Bible and leave room for personal conviction from Holy Spirit for us to use discernment to determine what is best for us and our families. Now, personal convictions are not just "my truths" or "my opinion". Personal convictions still must not contradict God's will and design. But they are also not clear, black and white Biblical principals either such as the resurrection, certain things being clear sin, etc. And we must be careful with making sure we are not confusing our personal convictions as Biblical principals for all to follow. There are many areas where Christians can agree to disagree. In the end, we must remember we are all on Team Jesus and we shouldn't let these disputable matters divide us as a church. Support the show

I didn't feel like I was a teacher of the word. I felt like there were so many others more qualified to do this than me. But, I wanted to be obedient to what God told me to do. So I did it anyway. Here we are. Almost 3 years later, 1.5 million downloads later...you would think I would be over the fear of feeling unqualified. And you would be wrong.  Recently, I received a message in my inbox of someone asking me why only 3 years of really getting serious about studying my Bible made me qualified to teach. And this message really made me question myself all over again. And I thought about it long a hard and here is what I realized. It's not the amount of years you've been a Christian that makes you qualified to share God's Good News. It's God's grace that He gives freely once you declare Jesus as your Lord and Savior that qualifies you! God qualifies you! And I want to bring encouragement to anyone who is struggling with feeling like "who am I to share about Jesus?" You are a qualified, beloved daughter of the King, sis. How the servant owes a huge debt and how the master shows huge grace and compassion to forgive the debt. But then the servant goes and is unforgiving of a friend's debt to him. -- This parable is an example of our huge debt we cannot pay back to God due to our sins. And yet His mercy is just lavished on us and our slates are wiped clean through Jesus Christ. And yet we don't hesitate to hold a grudge against another who has hurt us. Yes, the hurt was real. Yes, they don't have to be in your life. Didn't think of that one. But seriously, read past that sentence in the passage and Paul painted a clear picture on the action steps we should be taking to overcome and silence our anxiety. How do we have peace even while anxious? Let's chat about it and dissect this passage down! Our bad habits can be so common place, even to the point where we just think "that's how we are" or "that is just who I am!" But is it really? Is it really how God created you? Perhaps there are some bad habits you have been in agreement with for far too long and they are holding you back from really transforming and maturing in your faith. Hey friends! On today's episode we THROWBACK to when the podcast was called The Beautifully Enough Podcast. We cover this word offense. It's so easy to be offended in today's world. There is always someone disagreeing with us, telling us that we are wrong, trying to start a comment war. Social media doesn't help this issue, does it? And yet, what does the Bible say about taking offense? I find too often, that we are ok with just living offended. Everything offends us and we feel it necessary to constantly try to convince others they are wrong. But in your attempt to correct, are you sinning in other areas like pride, arrogance, unkindness, lacking compassion? Hey friends! Today is THROWBACK THURSDAY!  And you are listening to an episode I did back when the podcast was originally titled "The Beautifully Enough Podcast". The original title of this episode was "being faithful in the little things". And what I meant by that was: we know to bring our big things to God, right? We know to bring our "mountains" and  "goliaths" to God. But what about the small stuff? Do you ever feel like the small stuff is too small for God to handle? Like you should be strong enough to handle the small stuff on your own, right? But see, God is not that kind of god. He is a God that wants ALL of you. ALL of your struggles: big and small! So be faithful to give Him even the smallest of struggles. He is happy to help guide you through those, too. It would remind me of the things in my life that I knew I was doing that brought God sorrow and was against His word...and yet I was still choosing to do them anyway.  So that is what we are going to talk about today: what is our lives are we still allowing that we believe are ok, but deep down we know they go against His word. Hey friends! In today's episode we will be in Matthew 12:1-14 where the Pharisees try to trap Jesus and His disciples by calling them out for "working" on the Sabbath. Jesus gives them a response of "I desire mercy not sacrifice." So...what does that mean? It means that Jesus desires your heart over the rules you followed. The Pharisees are a prime example of people who, outwardly, followed the "rules" and did what wad right. And yet in their hearts, they sinned. They judged unrighteously. They were prideful. They were self-seeking.  And they totally missed the greatness and power right in front of them that was Jesus Christ! Jesus wants your heart. And when He genuinely has it from you, you naturally will do works and produce good fruit. But it all comes from a relationship with Jesus. What is your faith more like: a relationship?
