Holy Week is more than a season on the calendar—it's a proclamation of our faith. As Christian families, the way we remember, reflect, and celebrate the events leading to Jesus' resurrection shapes our understanding of the Gospel and deepens our walk with Him. In this special Easter Week episode, co-hosts Rachael and Natalie explore the significance of Holy Week traditions and how they serve as a bold declaration of faith. From Good Friday reflections to Easter morning celebrations, they discuss ways to anchor family traditions in the truth of the resurrection. Drawing from Scripture, they highlight how our girls—just like the women at the empty tomb—are called to be proclaimers of the Good News, courageously sharing Christ's victory over sin and death. Through Biblical encouragement, practical ideas, and insights from American Heritage Girls Founder & Executive Director, Patti Garibay, this conversation will inspire you to embrace Holy Week as an opportunity to strengthen your family's faith. Whether your celebrations include a Passover meal, sunrise worship, or simple moments of gratitude, let this season be a testament to the hope we have in Jesus. Tune in and be encouraged to make this Holy Week a time of deep remembrance, joyful celebration, and bold proclamation of Christ's love and redemption. As Christian dads we have the mission of raising disciples. We often pinpoint that down to making sure our kids know about Jesus but there is a lot more to it than that. We continue our series about talking to our kids about sex and this week we are addressing pornography. It's sad, but the likelihood of our kids being exposed to pornography is incredibly high, with the current average age of exposure being 8. How do we handle this? Should we talk about it? I'm joined by my friend, Hadley Baker, pastor and author of No Longer A Slave, to tackle this topic of pornography as we talk to our children about sexuality. You'll get more than how to deal with the symptoms. We cut to the core of how to create an environment of trust where topics such as pornography can be addressed in a godly way. — Get your copy of the new devotional for dads, Following Our Father: https://shop.ingramspark.com/b/084?params=VA6KP8OJ9Nh6EJM8xkhLDg1exkXKTtM9kswBjBoKxmD Get your free gift, a copy of Cut The Crap (E-book): https://fatheringourfuture.com/2024/08/04/free-download-for-new-dads/ MERCH: https://fatheringourfuture.printify.me/products Become a financial partner with Fathering Our Future and make a direct impact on dads: https://fatheringourfuture.com/support/

Today, we come to the end of our week-long long look at researcher Ellen Galinsky's new book about teenagers, “The Breakthrough Years: A New Scientific Framework for Raising Thriving Teens”. In it, Galinsky lists five things teens wish their parents and other adults knew about them. As Christian parents, we should pay special attention to the fifth message she heard from kids: “We want to learn stuff that's useful.” Galinsky lists these skills as understanding other's perspectives, how to communicate effectively, how to work with others, and how to set goals. While these skills are all good, we need to make sure that the way our kids understand and use these skills is rooted in the Gospel and a commitment to live a faithful life of Christian discipleship. In other words, these skills must not be used to advance the kingdom of me, myself, and I. Rather, these skills should serve the higher goal of bringing glory to God. Parents, nurture your kids in the Christian faith!
As Christian is about to enter a new phase of his life as an empty nester, he sits down with his good friend Amanda Keller to talk about life as a parent and her new show The Role Of A Lifetime.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Researcher Ellen Galinsky has released a brand new book about teenagers. It's called “The Breakthrough Years: A New Scientific Framework for Raising Thriving Teens”, and it includes five things teens wish their parents and other adults knew about them. All this week, we're looking at what Galinsky heard from teenagers. The third message she heard is this: “Don't stereotype us.” Just like us, our teenagers don't want to be pigeon-holed into stereotypes. For example, not all teens are anxious. Not all teens are addicted to their phones. And not all teens are entitled. If we label our kids in these ways we are setting the table for them to live into those stereotypes. As Christian parents, we need to not only recognize the unique ways in which they've been created and gifted by God, but their potential to live into God's glorious and grand design for their lives, rather than some stereotype. Parents, get to know your kids for who they are as unique individuals.

All this week, we're looking at what Galinsky heard from teenagers. The second message to parents is this: “Talk with us, not at us.” As our kids develop through the adolescent years, their brains are moving from thinking in black and white terms, to being able to think more abstractly, which means their on the pathway to having fully wired-up adult brains, sometime during their mid-twenties. As parents, we need to avoid the temptation to continue to think for them, as if they are still children. Rather, we need to think with them so that we might then train them to think for themselves. As Christian parents, we want to prepare our kids for a lifetime of thinking in ways that lead them to glorify God in all areas of their lives.
In this enchanting part of The Pilgrim's Progress, we journey alongside Christian as he navigates the path toward Mount Zion. Our narrative unfolds with Christian's encounter with the daunting lions guarding the way, a powerful metaphor for the trials of faith that every pilgrim must face. Guided by the watchful porter, Christian learns that these lions, though fearsome, are chained—representing the obstacles that test our resolve but do not ultimately harm us. As Christian arrives at the palace beautiful built by the Lord of the hill, he is welcomed by the kind-hearted family of the house, including the wise and discerning damsel, Discretion. Their warm hospitality offers him not just physical shelter but spiritual nourishment as they engage in heartfelt discussions about his pilgrimage, past struggles, and the lessons learned along the way. Through Christian's reflections, we explore the themes of redemption, the importance of community, and the relentless pursuit of a better, heavenly place. His poignant recollections of encounters with Evangelist and the Interpreter serve as reminders of God's guiding hand in our lives, even in moments of doubt and despair. Join us as we delve into the rich tapestry of Christian's journey, filled with wisdom, encouragement, and the hope of eternal fellowship. This part is a celebration of the pilgrim's path—a path fraught with challenges yet illuminated by the promise of grace. Minor updating has been done to make this recording more understandable. In this part of the Pilgrim's Progress, we find Christian on the path to salvation, burdened by the weight of his sins, until he reaches the cross where his burden is miraculously lifted. This poignant moment of transformation is marked by the arrival of three shining ones, who bring him peace, new garments, and a sealed scroll to guide him on his journey. As Christian continues his pilgrimage, he encounters various characters embodying the spiritual pitfalls of life. He meets Simple, Sloth, and Presumption, who remain asleep in their chains, refusing the help offered by Christian. He also encounters Formalist and Hypocrisy, who have taken shortcuts on their journey, bypassing the gate of salvation. Through these interactions, Christian learns the importance of entering the path through the proper means and the dangers of straying from the true way. The narrative brings us to the foot of the Hill of Difficulty, where Christian refreshes himself at a spring before ascending the steep path. Unlike the other travelers who choose easier paths leading to danger and destruction, Christian perseveres, understanding that the path to eternal life is often fraught with challenges. Join us as we reflect on the rich symbolism and spiritual insights in this timeless story, exploring themes of redemption, perseverance, and the transformative power of faith. As Christian parents, our deepest desire is to see our children walking in faith, growing in Christ, and living a life rooted in God's truth. But have you ever found yourself trying to manage or manufacture your child's spiritual growth, worried that God's timing might not align with your own? This week on the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, co-hosts Rachael Culpepper and Natalie Ambrose dive into the heart of this common struggle, unpacking the dangers of taking control in an area that belongs solely to God. Rachael and Natalie discuss the temptation to micromanage our children's faith journeys, fueled by fear that God's methods or timing might not meet our expectations. Through relatable parenting anecdotes, Biblical wisdom, and raw honesty, they challenge us to ask tough questions: Do we trust God fully with our child's heart? Are we willing to step back and let the Holy Spirit lead—even if the process is messy or slow? Using scripture such as Proverbs 22:6 and John 15:5, the hosts highlight the liberating truth that real transformation is a work of God, not a formula we can control. They remind us that while our prayers and discipleship matter deeply, it is ultimately God who shapes our children's faith. This revelation not only frees us from the pressure to “get it right” but also offers peace in knowing that His plans are always good, even when they unfold differently than we anticipate. This episode also features an inspiring Raising Godly Girls Minute by American Heritage Girls Founder & Executive Director Patti Garibay, encouraging parents to nurture a reliance on God rather than self-sufficiency in their children. Rachael and Natalie build on this teaching with practical insights into fostering a faith that is authentic, resilient, and rooted in trust. Join us for a heartfelt conversation about surrendering control, trusting God's perfect plan, and walking alongside our children as they navigate their personal journeys of faith. You'll leave feeling encouraged, challenged, and more confident in your role as a Christ-centered parent. Australia has recently enacted some legislation that not only makes good sense, but models steps that should be taken by the rest of the world to protect our kids from harm and to provide for their well-being. What exactly has Australia done? They've passed a new law that bans kids from using social media until they reach the age of sixteen. The new law won't go into effect for another year, but it's rooted in the growing body of evidence, both from research and anecdotally, that the use of social media and technology is harming our kids by undermining their mental health and relationships in ways that cannot go unnoticed or unaddressed. Of course, there are many details yet to be worked out before the ban goes into effect. As Christian parents, laws like these help set borders and boundaries, but ultimately we want to see our kids make these decision on their own as they flow out of heart bent towards the worship of God.
Join us on a riveting journey as we delve into the classic tale of Christian's encounter with Mr. Worldly Wiseman, a story that echoes through the ages with its profound moral and spiritual lessons. As Christian travels alone, he meets Mr. Worldly Wiseman. Their conversation leads Christian to question his path to the Wicket Gate, where he seeks relief from his burdens. Mr. Worldly Wiseman offers an enticing alternative, steering Christian towards the village of Morality and the house of Mr. Legality. The narrative unfolds with Christian's inner turmoil and the heavy burden he carries, both physically and spiritually. Despite Mr. Worldly Wiseman's persuasive arguments, the journey to Mr. Legality's house proves perilous, leaving Christian in fear and regret. Just as despair sets in, Evangelist reappears, guiding Christian back to the true path and reminding him of the dangers of straying from divine counsel. This part is a rich exploration of the timeless struggle between worldly wisdom and spiritual truth, a reminder of the importance of steadfastness in faith and the perils of seeking shortcuts to salvation. As Christian learns, the path to true deliverance is fraught with challenges, yet it is the only way to find genuine peace and redemption. Men do not need to be told that they have friends and they have enemies, and yet many modern Christians have been so propagandized by eisegesis and so misled by false teachers that they no longer believe that a Christian can have enemies, and yet Scripture clearly states that men will not only have enemies, but that some of those enemies will be in their own households. In this life, you will have friends and you will have enemies, some will be weak and some will be strong, some will abandon you when the tide turns and some will stand with you no matter what may come; being a Christian does not change this. Yes, we are to forgive our personal enemies, but that does not thereby make them anything other than enemies, and to treat the friend and the enemy identically is to be derelict in the duties given us by God. We do service neither to God nor to the Church when we pretend that enemies are not enemies; in fact, it is that very sort of wickedness that drives many men away from the churches in disgust. As Christian men, we must reclaim a proper understanding of friend and enemy and a proper approach to dealing with both — not least of all when the enemies stand up in the churches, as they do all too often today. Pursuing physical health seems to have great benefits. Longer life, more enjoyment of life, compliments from friends who notice . . . But, what if the best way to become more physically healthy is to first become more spiritually, mentally, and emotionally healthy? In fact, what if a lack of spiritual, mental, or emotional health is actually keeping your body stuck in diseases or distress because you've tried to fix the problem from the outside in, instead of from the inside out? On today's podcast episode, Heather Creekmore talks about the importance of caring for our souls: our emotions, our mental health, and our spiritual health. She talks about research that shows how a failure to take care of what's going on inside may keep us fighting our bodies. As Christian women, what should take priority? Heather explores these questions and more in today's new episode. Listen, learn, and be encouraged to get healthy emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically in 2025. So many times, the person we're writing for is a past version of ourselves. We've been through some things and we want to help others who are going through similar situations. But sometimes, the topics we write about involve how others have hurt us, either intentionally or unintentionally. As Christian writers, how do we handle those topics with grace, truth, and forgiveness in a way that will help our reader but not encourage anger and bitterness? In my conversation with author Kori Morgan, we talk about how she learned to navigate that tension in her new book, “Why I Dyed My Hair Purple and Other Unorthodox Stories”. I think you'll find her gospel-centered approach refreshing and encouraging.Kori Frazier Morgan is an author, disciple, and creative entrepreneur. My fourteen-year-old self had gone to bed at my usual 9pm time. Two hours later, I woke up to use the bathroom. While walking undetected past my parents darkened room, I not only heard my dad whispering, but I heard him whispering my name. It was at that unforgettable moment that I learned that my parents' bedtime routine included intercession on behalf of their three children. I had been blessed with parents whose only stated hope for me was that I would grow up to love, follow, and serve Jesus Christ. As Christian parents, our hope for our children should be the same. The good news is that parents always exercise the greatest influence on the spiritual lives of their children. God has established the home as the primary arena for spiritual nurture. This influence is effectively exercised as we entrust our children to God, which includes certain responsibilities that He has entrusted to us. Listen in all this week as we talk about how to entrust our children to God.
Winning a race requires purpose and discipline. Paul uses this illustration to explain that the Christian life takes hard work, self-denial, and persistent preparation. As Christian, we are running toward our heavenly reward. Prayer, bible study, and worship, along with other spiritual disciplines, equip us to run with vigor and stamina. Don't just sit back and watch and do the bare minimum in your training. Train diligently-your spiritual progress depends upon it. Enjoy! Jennifer P.S. Send us a textHow do we embrace the prophetic while maintaining biblical wisdom and discernment? Today we're tackling the crucial balance between walking in the gifts of the Spirit and ensuring prophetic accountability in the church. As Christian believers who embrace the continuing work of the Holy Spirit, we'll explore: • Biblical frameworks for testing prophecy • Practical guidelines for the local church • Wisdom for conference settings • Building integrity in the national prophetic community • Learning from past mistakes • Creating healthy accountability structures Whether you're a church leader navigating prophetic ministry, someone who operates in the prophetic, or a believer seeking to understand this gift better, this conversation offers practical wisdom for increasing prophetic integrity while honoring the Holy Spirit's work today. Join us as we cast a vision for what healthy prophetic ministry can look like in the future, guided by 1 Thessalonians 5's mandate to “test all things” while not despising prophecy.
As Christian parents, we are called to raise our kids in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We must be doing what we can to lead them into an adulthood that is spiritually, emotionally, relationally, intellectually, AND physically healthy. Their physical health depends greatly on how we teach them to steward their God-given bodies during their childhood and teenage years. One aspect of this that's related to today's youth culture regards caffeine intake. Are you aware, for example, that your local quickmart drink coolers are filled with aggressively marketed caffeine-infused energy drinks that appeal to teens? And, are you aware that ER visits due to eating or drinking too much caffeine have doubled among middle school kids, and almost doubled for our high schoolers between 2017 and 2023? Parents, we need to educate our kids on God-honoring matters of health and on the dangers of caffeine intake, along with setting borders and boundaries for their consumption.
“Be sure to look them in the eye and say please and thank you.” If you grew up in home like mine, you constantly heard those words from your mother as she was training you to be kind and polite in social situations. I learned that lesson well and hope that we were successful in passing it on to our own kids. New research from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has found that when family members show appreciation and gratitude to each other through saying “thank you”, relationships are strengthened and mental health improves. For married couples, showing gratitude to your partner improves relationship satisfaction and mental health. When a child expresses thanks to a parent, parenting stress is actually reduced. As Christian parents, we want to be sure to teach our kids that all good things come from God, including the gift of salvation. Point them to I Chronicles 16:34: “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
Christmas has become so commercialized that it's easy to lose sight of its true meaning. As Christian parents, it's our responsibility to keep Christ at the center of this season while raising our little ones. If we don't, the world will gladly redefine Christmas as being all about magic, Santa, and presents—playing right into the enemy's agenda to push Christ aside. In this episode, we're sharing 8 practical and Christ-centered ways to celebrate Christmas with young children and teach them the true reason for the season. An illuminating history of religious and political controversy in nineteenth-century Bengal, where Protestant missionary activity spurred a Christian conversion “panic” that indelibly shaped the trajectory of Hindu and Muslim politics. In 1813, the British Crown adopted a policy officially permitting Protestant missionaries to evangelize among the empire's Indian subjects. The ramifications proved enormous and long-lasting. While the number of conversions was small—Christian converts never represented more than 1.5 percent of India's population during the nineteenth century—Bengal's majority faith communities responded in ways that sharply politicized religious identity, leading to the permanent ejection of religious minorities from Indian ideals of nationhood. Mou Banerjee details what happened as Hindus and Muslims grew increasingly suspicious of converts, missionaries, and evangelically minded British authorities. Fearing that converts would subvert resistance to British imperialism, Hindu and Muslim critics used their influence to define the new Christians as a threatening “other” outside the bounds of authentic Indian selfhood. The meaning of conversion was passionately debated in the burgeoning sphere of print media, and individual converts were accused of betrayal and ostracized by their neighbors. Yet, Banerjee argues, the effects of the panic extended far beyond the lives of those who suffered directly. As Christian converts were erased from the Indian political community, that community itself was reconfigured as one consecrated in faith. While India's emerging nationalist narratives would have been impossible in the absence of secular Enlightenment thought, the evolution of cohesive communal identity was also deeply entwined with suspicion toward religious minorities. Recovering the perspectives of Indian Christian converts as well as their detractors, The Disinherited: The Politics of Christian Conversion in Colonial India (Harvard UP, 2025) is an eloquent account of religious marginalization that helps to explain the shape of Indian nationalist politics in today's era of Hindu majoritarianism. Sign-up for my free 20-day devotional, The Word Before Work Foundations, at http://TWBWFoundations.com--Series: Christmas Vocations Part IIIDevotional: 1 of 4And you, my child…will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him. (Luke 1:76)Today we're starting a new series here on The Word Before Work—a third installment of my semi-annual Christmas Vocations series where we explore the jobs of some of the characters of the Christmas narrative and what they can teach us about our own work today. We begin with John the Baptist whose role was to “prepare the way” for Christ as we see in today's passage—an excerpt from Zecharaiah's prayer after John's birth. Right from the get go, John was told he would never be top dog. His purpose in life was to play the proverbial second fiddle to his cousin Jesus. And all throughout the gospels, we see John joyfully embracing his secondary role. Referring to Jesus, John famously said, “He must become greater; I must become less” (John 3:30).John knew his place in God's cosmic drama. The question is do we? Sure we do intellectually. But functionally, I think many of us spend an ungodly amount of energy clamoring to be center stage. As Christian rapper Sho Baraka says, “we find ourselves feeling like extras on the set of life, trying desperately to write a meaningful part for ourselves.”How does this restless search for a “more meaningful part” in God's story show up? It looks like obsessing over “winning” and “being the best” at work, rather than leading and serving others well. Or believing the lie that you must do something extraordinary for your life to matter rather than basing your significance on Christ's extraordinary work of adopting you into God's family. Or fixating on having “more impact for the kingdom” instead of wholeheartedly working on what God has already entrusted to you.If you can relate to what I'm talking about, please hear this: Ironically, it is only once we embrace our role as “extras on the set of life” and Jesus as the star that we can be truly “successful.” Because then success is secure regardless of the part you play. It is based on the fact that God has given you an irrevocable invitation to enjoy and participate in the only eternal production there is. And once you grasp that, you are free. If you struggle embracing your role in the proverbial supporting cast of God's kingdom, consider these three practices.#1: Start every day on your knees in prayer, physically signifying your submission to Christ.#2: Write John 3:30 and post it near your desk (“He must become greater; I must become less.”)#3: Fast from social media for at least a week as these apps subtly (and not so subtly) try to convince us that we, rather than Christ, are the center of the story of life. Now, go fade into the background behind Christ as you work today!
Today we're diving into something that can completely transform how you manage your time, your to-do list, and even your walk with God. Honor was once something that was taken deadly seriously in the West. It was not a matter about which one joked. A man would go to great lengths to maintain his honor, and a woman would go to great lengths to defend hers. In our modern culture, honor has been all but forgotten by the bulk of the population — it has become something so foreign, so alien that most men no longer even know what the word means. But honor is necessary to maintain civilization, and so are shame and guilt. Unto the one who conducts himself according to the Moral Law and conforms his behavior to the norms of his civilization we bestow honor, and upon the one who falls short of these standards we heap shame to add to the guilt of his conscience. Together, honor, shame, and guilt form part of the foundation upon which society and civilization rest; without these, no civilization can long endure. As Christian men, we must endeavor to restore these things to our society, before it is too late and we have fallen too far. Romans 13:1 (CSB) A Christian's Duties to the State:“Let everyone submit to the governing authorities, since there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are instituted by God.” We are called to submit to higher authorities, which means, who we choose as leaders matters. The leaders we choose has a great impact on rather people prosper or endure extended hardship. Proverbs 29:2 (CSB) says, “When the righteous flourish, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, people groan.”As we approach the ballot box on Tuesday, November 5th, as citizens of Heaven with a civic duty to vote, we should consider three things:1. We should ask God for discernment. There is no perfect candidate, and many political issues have a lot of layers to them. But we should be asking for discernment before we approach the ballot box. Not every issue is the same. However, some issues have a clear biblical mandate and will have a bigger impact on the trajectory of our culture, economy, and foreign relationships. Thus, you have to decide how to weigh the importance of each issue.Ask God for wisdom. James 1:5 (CSB) “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly and it will be given to him.” In order to discern what is the good and pleasing and perfect will of God, we must renew our minds. (Romans 12:2)2. We should vote based on biblical truth. As Christian, we should vote based on the truth of God's Word and what it says about the issues of today. This is why reading God's Word daily is vital. So, when we study the positions of candidates, we can properly connect the dots on whether their views and positions aligned with our biblical worldview…not what is cultural acceptable.3. We should vote for a collective good. This speaks to the way we are called to love our neighbors. Galatians 5:14 (CSB) says, “For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself.” If we are to love our neighbors, we should vote for people and policies that will promote the communal welfare of the American people. *****In some cases, that might require us to vote against some of your own personal interests or preferences, if it is in the best interests of everyone else. Philippians 2:3-4 (CSB) says, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility, considering others as more important than yourself. Everyone should look, not to his own interest, but rather to the interest of others.” A collective good is desiring that every city, state, and our country is mutually beneficial for everyone. Jeremiah 29:7 (CSB) says, “Pursue the well-being of the city I have deported you to. Pray to the Lord on its behalf, for when it thrives, you will thrive.”Last:We should pray for our leaders, even if the outcome this election is not what we voted for. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 CSB says, “First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessors, and thanksgiving be made for everyone, for the kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life and all godliness and dignity.”slulead.com
Hey, Sister-friend
In this episode of Kaleb's Corner, a segment of the Dad Tired podcast, Kaleb Allen hosts part three of the six-week series titled Finding Jesus in the Wilderness of Your Soul. In this episode, Kaleb dives into the theme of how Jesus' wilderness experience offers a roadmap for navigating the trials and challenges we face today. As Christian dads, learning to lead ourselves and our families well through tough seasons is essential, and Kaleb offers insights, encouragement, and practical steps to do just that. Episode Highlights: Wilderness: The Crossroads of Growth or StagnationKaleb kicks off by explaining how wilderness seasons can either shape us into stronger followers of Christ or leave us crippled by fear and frustration. He shares personal reflections on how wilderness moments challenge our faith and force us to choose between pressing forward or retreating in discouragement.Time Stamp: 00:14 - 02:40 Engaging God in the Midst of Spiritual FogKaleb encourages listeners not to "check out" during difficult times but to press deeper into God. He discusses the importance of wrestling with our emotions, praying, journaling, and talking to trusted friends, using these wilderness seasons as opportunities for spiritual growth and soul-searching.Time Stamp: 02:40 - 05:02 Jesus in the Wilderness: An Example of EnduranceKaleb unpacks Jesus' experience of being led by the Spirit into the wilderness, showing how He modeled endurance through prayer, fasting, and resisting temptation. Jesus' journey reminds us that even when we feel spiritually dry, God's purpose is at work in us.Time Stamp: 05:02 - 07:27 Three Temptations: Relevance, Spectacle, and PowerKaleb walks listeners through the three temptations Jesus faced in the wilderness, drawing on insights from theologians like Augustine and Henry Nowen: Relevance: The temptation to turn stones into bread, fulfilling immediate needs but missing the deeper spiritual purpose. Spectacle: The temptation to throw Himself from the temple and be admired for a grand display of power. Power: The temptation to bow down and gain authority over all the kingdoms of the world.Time Stamp: 07:27 - 16:57 Resisting the Temptation of RelevanceKaleb explores how the temptation to prove our worth to others can creep in during wilderness seasons. He offers practical advice on resisting the need to be "relevant" in the eyes of the world and instead finding our value in God's love and truth.Time Stamp: 16:57 - 19:18 Choosing to Be Faithful Instead of SpectacularKaleb emphasizes that true success in the wilderness isn't found in being extraordinary but in being faithful. He challenges listeners to reject the cultural pressure to "prove" themselves through grand gestures and instead focus on daily faithfulness to God's calling.Time Stamp: 19:18 - 24:02 Embracing Humility: The Temptation to PowerKaleb addresses the temptation to seek control or power as a way to validate ourselves. He explains that true fulfillment comes not from climbing the ladder of success but from walking in humility and surrender to God's will.Time Stamp: 24:02 - 28:49 The Wilderness as a Place of GrowthKaleb concludes by reframing the wilderness as a place of training, where God shapes our character and strengthens our faith. He encourages dads to embrace these challenging seasons as opportunities to become more like Jesus and lead their families well through faith and perseverance.Time Stamp: 28:49 - 31:10 Connect with Kaleb Allen: Website: Dad Tired Instagram: @t.kaleb.allen Podcast: Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and all major platforms. Resources Mentioned: The Armor of God (Ephesians 6) The Life of Jesus in the Wilderness (Matthew 4) Writings by Henry Nowen and Augustine In this powerful solo episode, Kaleb Allen challenges dads to embrace the wilderness seasons of life as opportunities for growth, perseverance, and deepening their relationship with Christ.
Dr. Tyler Groves is the current Head of School at Valor Christian Academy in Alpharetta, Georgia. With a background in Christian education, Tyler has brought his expertise in integrating faith-based learning into the school's academic programs. Tyler has also co-authored "Growing with One Another: A Christian Approach to Social and Emotional Learning," which combines contemporary educational research with a Christian perspective to address the growing need for social and emotional learning (SEL) in schools. It serves as a resource for educators seeking to integrate faith-based principles into SEL programs, equipping students with the skills needed to navigate relationships and mental well-being effectively. I'm thrilled to have Tyler on the show with me today to discuss Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and how it can help students develop essential life skills. Leslie continues her Most Asked Questions series with Part One of a two-part message on gaining a genuine love for studying God's Word. As Christian women it's easy to see Bible study as a chore or obligation, without really understanding the significance or beauty of immersing in God's Word regularly. We often take an academic approach to Bible study, which causes it to feel tedious and dry. In this episode, Leslie unpacks three critical principles for shifting our mindset toward God'd Word, and helps us discover the joy and privilege of exploring Scripture from a relational - rather than a dutiful - motivation. For more resources from Leslie, visit www.setapart.org.
