Grab your bible and join us as we continue our study of basic Biblical doctrine. Today we take on the subject of defining sin according to the Scriptures and find that sin is "any transgression or lack of conformity to the Moral Law of God in disposition, thought, actor state of being."

Sin is so costly. It separates us from God. Yet God is mighty to save. Our sins have created a barrier between us and Him, and "the wages of sin is death" the just penalty for our rebellion against our holy God. Sin brings painful consequences upon us and society, but its greatest cost was borne by Christ. On the cross, He endured the punishment that our sins deserved, laying down His life for all His people. As Isaiah declares, "He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed".

That is original sin: the guilt of Adam's first transgression and the inherited corruption of our whole nature. Death spread to all people because all sinned in Adam. How can this be so? An anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. Please pray for myself and one another as we consider these tremendous truths.
