Dave Rich continues his examination of how Christians should approach the Old Testament law. This teaching tackles one of the most debated questions in biblical ethics: Are believers still bound by the Mosaic law? Rich methodically works through the traditional categories of moral, ceremonial, and civil law, revealing why these divisions—while useful—don't actually appear in Scripture itself. He demonstrates that the Bible presents the law as a unified whole, yet the New Testament clearly teaches that Christians live under a new covenant established at Christ's death. Through careful exposition of passages from Hebrews, Jeremiah, Romans, and the Gospels, Rich shows how the old covenant has been surpassed by something better. He explains the distinction between being legally obligated to Mosaic law versus learning from its wisdom and principles. The message addresses real questions believers face: What about the Sabbath? Food laws? Civil penalties? Rich provides clarity on which Old Testament commands still apply and why, helping Christians navigate Scripture with both freedom and faithfulness to God's unchanging character. Dave Rich tackles one of the most debated questions in Christian theology: How should believers use the Old Testament law for ethical guidance? With clarity and biblical precision, he examines the 613 Mosaic laws and asks which ones still apply to Christians today. Why do we follow some commandments but not others? Are the Ten Commandments still binding? What about dietary restrictions and civil penalties?Rich walks through six major theological approaches to the law, from Marcionism's complete rejection to views that embrace nearly all Old Testament regulations. He examines New Testament passages that seem contradictory—some declaring the law a burden not to be imposed on believers, others affirming its holiness and value. The answer lies in understanding covenant discontinuity while recognizing the law's ongoing revelatory purpose.Christians aren't bound by Mosaic stipulations, but the entire Old Testament remains valuable for ethical wisdom when read through the lens of the New Covenant. This teaching equips believers to handle Scripture accurately, avoid both legalism and lawlessness, and apply timeless biblical principles to modern life. ★ Support this podcast ★

In this episode of Uncommon Sense, I'm calling out a problem no one wants to confront: the normalization of partying, drinking, and casual sex especially among so-called “conservative influencers.”You cannot claim to defend Western Civilization while publicly celebrating the very behaviors that destroyed past civilizations. Conservatism without morality is just aesthetic rebellion. We don't need more clout, cocktails, or compromised values. We need a return to godliness, self-discipline, and moral responsibility because the future generations watching us will inherit whatever standard we tolerate today. If we want to save the West, we have to get serious about being truly Christian again.--https://www.bible.com/

We're called to love the Lord our God with every fiber of our being and we demonstrate that love by obeying His commands found in the Moral Law, the 10 Commandments.
This episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson takes a hard look at the growing contradictions surrounding Erika Kirk and the direction of TPUSA's AmFest (or should I say IsFest). From Charlie Kirk's own recorded warnings about bad cultural role models to TPUSA turning around and platforming those very same celebrities (Nicki Minaj included) whose lifestyles openly contradict Christian teaching, the hypocrisy is no longer ignorable. We're breaking down how moral inconsistency, pop-culture appeasement, and ideological confusion are rotting the conservative movement from the inside out. America First cannot exist without Christianity first—not as a buzzword, not as branding, but as the moral and cultural foundation of who we are. And right now, we are watching our spiritual and national identity slip away in real time. When so-called Christian leaders blur lines, excuse the very behavior they once condemned, and choose influence over truth, they don't just lose credibility, they lose the plot (and they lose the people who trusted them). This episode is a call for honesty, consistency, and real conservative leadership rooted in the Christian values they claim to stand for. Not clout, not platforms, and not sinful worldliness. We don't need people playing leaders. We need actual leadership.—https://www.bible.com/

Today Fr. Anthony covers Chapter Nine, "Cosmic Revolution" of Zachery Porcu's "Journey to Reality" on the problem of suffering and evil. +++ AI Title and Summary: Keeping It Real About the Problem of Pain: Free Will, Moral Law, and the Ministry of Presence Beginning from a memorial service and C.S. Lewis' Problem of Pain, this talk wrestles honestly with Ivan Karamazov's challenge, the suffering of children, and what our visceral reaction to evil reveals about the moral law—the "Tao" or Logos—written into our very being, which cannot be reduced to mere biology or sentiment. From there it explores free will as the costly condition of genuine love, the way Christ transforms suffering into a kind of sacrament, and how practices like fasting and the simple "ministry of presence" allow us to stand with others in their pain as living icons of the God who is with us in every cross and every death.

In today's “Nugget Day,” Fr. Mike reviews the significant takeaways that the Catechism teaches us about the moral law. Fr. Mike highlights that God has written the moral law in the depths of every human heart. Today's In Brief section also reminds us that the moral law is a “fatherly instruction by God,” rooted in love and oriented towards our joy, freedom, and flourishing. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1975-1986. Pastor Nathan reads the Scripture passage which warns us to not be deceived. God's Truth is: 1 – sinners go to hell, 2 – sexual sin is sin, 3 – He can wash, sanctify and justify you. So: do not be deceived. Listen in to a message on God's truth about sex.
Together, we begin the section on moral law, starting with natural moral law. Fr. Mike begins by emphasizing that we need both the law that guides us and God's grace that sustains us in order to live out our call to beatitude. He also unpacks how natural moral law is written in the soul of each and every man to help him discern between good and evil. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1949-1960. Send us a textThe Moral LawThe Law of Nature can be a consideration for rules and behaviors of humankind. Being animals, we take our place in the world, but are different than the creatures with which we share our planet. There is something greater which humans seem to have that separates us from the behavior of animal kind. We all ascribe to some degree of consciousness, one that embraces goodness and rejects badness. Though simply choosing to be a good person comes with some degree of difficulty when stressed or overwhelmed. What prevents people from stealing? What about murdering and taking someone else's things? Doesn't Darwin describe the natural progression of power through consolidation and adaptation? In considering that there is a set of rules with which we are subject, though perhaps not always follow, that governs our behavior and thinking into our collective morality. Our suggestion is that the creator of this code is not mankind itself, who quickly abandons all rules to elevate the self. The giver of morality is God, the creator of all things. =====Searching for answers to life's questions? Need help finding a church? Drop us a line. Reformed Brotherhood | Sound Doctrine, Systematic Theology, and Brotherly Love
In this engaging episode of The Reformed Brotherhood, Jesse Schwamb and Tony Arsenal dive into the rich theological and practical significance of the Sabbath in Reformed theology. They begin by discussing the dual aspects of the Sabbath as a creation ordinance and a ceremonial practice, explaining how it is both a moral obligation for all humanity and a type that pointed forward to Christ's redemptive work. The hosts emphasize that the Sabbath is a blessing, not a burden, designed for rest, worship, and spiritual renewal. The conversation explores how the Sabbath transitions from the seventh day in the Old Testament to the first day, the Lord's Day, in the New Testament. This shift highlights its fulfillment in Christ's resurrection, which establishes a new rhythm of worship and rest for Christians. The hosts also tackle the complex issue of Sabbath observance in persecuted regions, addressing how believers might navigate the challenges of gathering for worship in secrecy or under threat. Throughout the episode, Jesse and Tony reflect on why the Sabbath remains vital in the Christian life. They emphasize that while Christ is our ultimate rest, the weekly observance of the Lord's Day continues to foster spiritual growth, communal worship, and reliance on God's provision. The discussion is punctuated with practical insights, theological clarity, and a pastoral heart for the global church. Key Points: The Sabbath as a Creation Ordinance: The Sabbath was established at creation as a perpetual moral obligation for all humanity, commemorating God's work in creation and providing a rhythm of rest and worship. The Sabbath's Fulfillment in Christ: As a ceremonial law, the Sabbath pointed forward to Christ's redemptive work, which fulfills the deeper rest and reconciliation it symbolizes. The Transition to the Lord's Day: Following Christ's resurrection, the Sabbath shifted to the first day of the week, reflecting the new creation in Christ and the church's ongoing commitment to gather and worship. Sabbath Observance in Persecuted Regions: The hosts thoughtfully consider how Christians in areas of persecution might navigate the challenges of gathering for worship, emphasizing the importance of wisdom, humility, and reliance on God's providence. The Sabbath as a Blessing, Not a Burden: The weekly observance of the Lord's Day is an opportunity for spiritual renewal, worship, and rest, reminding believers to trust in God's provision and fully rest in Christ. Questions for Reflection: Why is the Sabbath considered a moral obligation for all humanity, and how does it reflect God's character? How does the shift from the seventh day to the first day (the Lord's Day) enhance our understanding of Christ's work in redemption? In what ways can Christians balance rest and worship on the Sabbath to experience its full blessing? How should Christians in persecuted regions approach Sabbath observance while navigating safety concerns? What practical steps can you take to make the Sabbath a meaningful day of rest and worship in your life?
In this episode of Christ the Center, Camden Bucey and Carlton Wynne are joined by Rev. Stephen Spinnenweber, author of Loving the Law: The Law of God in the Life of the Believer, to explore the enduring significance of God's moral law in the Christian life. They discuss the book's development, its theological foundations, and its practical applications for pastors, congregants, and Christian parents. The conversation clarifies the Reformed understanding of the threefold use of the law and addresses common misconceptions surrounding legalism and antinomianism. Stephen offers a pastoral and theologically rich vision for delighting in the law as a gracious guide for believers—one rooted in God's character and purpose for humanity. The trio also touches on civil use of the law, the Sabbath, and the broader cultural and political implications of God's moral order. This episode is a refreshing call to recover a joyful obedience to God's commandments—not as a means of earning salvation, but as the grateful response of those saved by grace and empowered by the Spirit. Send us a textThe boundaries of God's law and its application to believers spark a vibrant, thought-provoking discussion in this episode. What exactly was Christ's righteousness, and where did it come from? We dive deep into understanding how Christ's perfect obedience to God's law brings reconciliation with the Father - and how this righteousness is imputed to all who believe, regardless of heritage.A fascinating tension emerges as we explore whether the Ten Commandments were exclusively for the Jewish people or universally applicable. Through examining key passages including Hebrews 8, Romans 2, and Galatians 3, we unravel the relationship between the old covenant with Israel and the new covenant in Christ. The conversation illuminates how God writes His moral law on believers' hearts while freeing us from the ceremonial and Levitical priesthood laws.Particularly compelling is our exploration of conscience as a universal moral compass. As one participant notes, "They have the work of the law written in their hearts... their consciences all the while either accusing them or excusing them." This natural knowledge of right and wrong exists across cultural boundaries, pointing to God's imprint on human hearts even before direct revelation. The discussion builds toward understanding that while the old covenant was specifically with Israel, the new covenant extends God's promise to people from every nation through faith in Christ. "If you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise."Join us for this intellectually stimulating conversation where respectful disagreement leads to spiritual growth. As one participant beautifully summarizes: "This is what church should look like - being able to talk through these things and get to the truth together." Listen, then search the Scriptures for yourself, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth.Support the show
Send us a textWhat happens when a human being stands in the direct presence of God? Moses emerged from his 40-day encounter on Mount Sinai with a face so radiant that the Israelites were afraid to approach him. The solution? A veil that concealed this divine afterglow. But this simple piece of cloth carries profound spiritual significance that resonates throughout Scripture and into our lives today. In this thought-provoking discussion, we dig beneath the surface of Exodus 34 to uncover what the Holy Spirit wants us to learn from Moses' veiled face. We explore why Moses fasted for 40 days and 40 nights without food or water, examining how this pattern of "40" appears at pivotal moments throughout Scripture—from Noah's flood to Jesus' wilderness temptation—marking seasons of spiritual transition and new beginnings. The conversation takes a fascinating turn as we consider Paul's interpretation in 2 Corinthians 3, where he reveals that Moses' veil concealed not just glory, but the temporary, fading nature of that glory. This becomes a powerful metaphor for how many approach Scripture today—with a "veil" over their hearts that only Christ can remove. We draw connections to other biblical moments like the Mount of Transfiguration and the tearing of the temple veil at Jesus' crucifixion, revealing a divine thread woven through God's redemptive story.Beyond just theological exploration, this episode challenges us to ask: Are we approaching God's Word as mere history, or are we allowing it to transform us? Are we still living behind veils of our own making, or have we embraced the liberty that comes when "the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom"? Join us as we discover how we can experience God's glory with unveiled faces, being transformed into His image "from glory to glory."Support the show
Send us a textWhat exactly constitutes God's covenant with His people? Was it limited to the Ten Commandments written on stone tablets, or did it encompass all 613 Levitical laws? This fundamental theological question shapes how we understand our relationship with divine law today. Our panel of Bible scholars dives deep into Exodus, examining the precise language that "these were the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments." This wording suggests a meaningful distinction between the Decalogue and the broader Levitical system that followed. The discussion reveals a compelling framework: the Ten Commandments represent God's universal moral law—principles that transcend time and culture—while the Levitical laws functioned as Israel's civil and ecclesiastical code. One participant brilliantly compares this to modern constitutional principles versus specific legislative rules that govern daily life. When Jesus entered the scene, He perfectly fulfilled the moral law while challenging misinterpretations of Levitical practices—not rejecting divine law but exposing centuries of human misunderstanding. His redemptive work frees believers from the curse of the law while empowering us to honor God's unchanging moral principles. For believers today, this conversation matters deeply. We still honor the Ten Commandments not as a path to salvation but because they reflect God's character and what is "good and just and righteous and holy." Meanwhile, the specific Levitical practices were fulfilled in Christ and no longer bind us in the same way.Join us for this thought-provoking exploration of covenant, law, and grace—and discover how understanding these distinctions can transform your faith journey. In this enlightening episode of Father and Joe, hosts Father Boniface and Joe Rockey delve into the profound concept of the "Perfection of Love" and its implications in our daily lives. Building on previous discussions about drawing closer to Mary and Jesus, this episode explores the multifaceted nature of charity and how it manifests differently in each individual's life. Father Boniface clarifies the church's technical use of the term "charity," derived from the Latin "Caritas," which transcends mere acts of giving to embody the perfection of love. The conversation navigates through the complexities of human relationships, emphasizing that no two relationships are the same due to the infinite ways we can interact with one another. Father Boniface highlights Pope Benedict's teachings on how various forms of love—self-emptying service, love of country, family, friendship, and romantic love—find their ultimate fulfillment in Christ. This episode challenges listeners to reflect on their motivations and actions, urging them to strive for a genuine concern for all, as exemplified by Christ's love. The hosts discuss practical scenarios, such as prioritizing family responsibilities over immediate acts of charity, and how these decisions reflect our interior motivations. They encourage listeners to be honest with themselves about their motivations and to seek growth in virtue by expanding their hearts and interior freedom. The episode underscores that growing in virtue is a gradual process, requiring honesty, prayer, and a willingness to step outside of comfort zones.Listeners are invited to contemplate their own lives and consider how they can move towards the perfection of love, not as a one-time achievement but as a continuous journey. Father Boniface and Joe Rockey provide actionable insights and encourage a mindset of openness and growth, fostering a deeper union with God and others.Perfection of Love, Charity, Virtue, Spiritual Growth, Father Boniface, Joe Rockey, Podcast, Faith, Relationships, Self-Reflection, Motivation, Pope Benedict, Caritas, Holiness, Love, Spiritual Direction, Daily Life, Free Will, Jesus, Mary, Jubilee of Hope, Self-Emptying Service, Love of Country, Love of Family, Love of Friendship, Romantic Love, Christ, Interior Freedom, Virtue Development, Moral Law, Galatians, Spiritual Journey, Prayer, Comfort Zones, Self-Improvement, Compassion, Empathy, Spirituality, Faith Journey, Christian Living, Personal Growth, Community, Service, Love in Action#PerfectionOfLove, #Charity, #Virtue, #SpiritualGrowth, #FatherBoniface, #JoeRockey, #Podcast, #Faith, #Relationships, #SelfReflection, #Motivation, #PopeBenedict, #Caritas, #Holiness, #Love, #SpiritualDirection, #DailyLife, #FreeWill, #Jesus, #Mary, #JubileeOfHope, #SelfEmptyingService, #LoveOfCountry, #LoveOfFamily, #LoveOfFriendship, #RomanticLove, #Christ, #InteriorFreedom, #VirtueDevelopment, #MoralLaw, #Galatians, #SpiritualJourney, #Prayer, #ComfortZones, #SelfImprovement, #Compassion, #Empathy, #Spirituality, #FaithJourney, #ChristianLiving, #PersonalGrowth, #Community, #Service, #LoveInAction
