Torah Daled. shiur 2.w reb joey After reviewing Nekudah Beis — the secret unity of Havayah and Elokim, and the work of elevating Malchus from its exile among the akum — we move into Os Gimmel, where Rabbeinu Nachman gives a very specific eitzah in avodas Hashem: וידוי דברים לפני תלמיד חכם, verbal confession before a Torah scholar. We explore why Malchus is rooted not in Binah but in Chochmah, and why this hidden circuit between Ani and Ayin is the heart of every Torah in Likutey Moharan. Speech is Malchus. When our letters fall into tzirufim ra'im and life feels stuck, congealed, and concealed, dibbur is the elevator back up — not because the Tzaddik needs to hear our chataim, but because the Talmid Chacham receives our words at the level of the aleph-beis, the raw osios, and rearranges them in chochmah. Along the way we touch on: - Why Elokim and akum emerge from tzimtzum, and how dinim are sweetened only at their source - He'emanti ki adaber — speaking your emunah into being - The Baal Shem Tov's derech of tzirufim chadashim, turning nega into oneg - Why the path through Chochmah comes before Kesser, and why Kesser without Chochmah becomes kares - Vidui Devarim as the antidote to shame — Bushah vs. the swampland of identity-level shame - Rav Pinchas Koritzer on why Ashamnu is said in the plural - Trauma, the body, and the unspeakability that vidui breaks open A shiur about coming back to Hashem through your own most uncomfortable words — and discovering that Malchus was always rooted in Chochmah, that you were never as far as you thought. 1. Strategic Importance of the Strait of Hormuz The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most critical maritime choke points in the world. Over 20% of the global oil supply passes through it daily, not including broader commercial shipping. Although often perceived as narrow and easily controlled, the strait is ~21 miles wide at its narrowest, making comprehensive surveillance extremely difficult. Large commercial vessels are confined to two-mile-wide shipping lanes due to depth requirements, making them predictable and vulnerable. 2. Vulnerability of Commercial and Naval Shipping Massive oil tankers and cargo ships: Cannot maneuver quickly or stop. Take miles to change course. Become “sitting ducks” within narrow sea lanes. The remaining waters outside the main lanes provide cover for hostile actors. 3. Iranian Asymmetric Naval Strategy Iran avoids direct, conventional naval confrontation with the U.S., which it previously lost decisively. Instead, it relies on small, fast, low-profile attack boats operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). These boats: Are often smaller than recreational boats. Use multiple engines for high speed. Are armed with heavy machine guns, rockets, and anti-ship missiles. Operate in swarms from multiple directions. 4. Concealment and Tactical Advantage Iranian fast boats: Operate in shallow waters close to shore. Blend in with fishing vessels and heavy commercial traffic. Remain difficult to detect by radar until moments before attack. The Persian Gulf’s dense maritime traffic makes threat identification even harder. 5. Recent Military Developments The U.S. reportedly sank six Iranian fast attack boats attempting to harass vessels. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated: Iran typically deploys 20–40 such boats, but only six were observed in this clash. U.S. naval and air assets (Apache and Seahawk helicopters) are heavily positioned in the area. Iran’s naval capabilities have been significantly degraded. 6. U.S. Position and Policy The U.S. frames its role as defensive, focused on: Protecting commercial shipping. Ensuring freedom of navigation. Hundreds of ships from 87 different countries are currently backed up in the Persian Gulf. The U.S. has offered escorted passage through the strait. 7. Escalation Risks and Political Messaging President Trump issued strong warnings to Iran, threatening overwhelming retaliation if U.S.-flagged or escorted ships are attacked. Iran insists ships must coordinate with Tehran before transiting the strait. Recent incidents include: A South Korean vessel explosion and fire. A Panama-flag cargo ship engine fire. A UAE oil tanker reportedly targeted by an Iranian drone. These events raise questions about: The durability of a fragile ceasefire. Whether strikes could expand to Iranian territory or leadership targets. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. This is the first episode of a special series called The Agentic Patient, which is a series about how real patients are using AI to navigate their health. We go into details, how do patients make AI help them do better, not worse, and what should we all be mindful of along the way? Which tools do they use? Which prompts? What's working, what isn't? It is not just patients on the series, it's also researchers and clinicians. These discussions are intended for informational purposes only, and should not be relied upon as a sole source of medical information or as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. In the first episode, you will hear from Dale Atkinson. Dale was a financial crime investigator before his terminal cancer diagnosis. This is important understanding the research he did on his cancer. The skills required for a compliance officer trained him to read dense regulated documents, which is a transferable skill for medical literature. He is a compelling interview subject and, simultaneously, a survivorship-biased sample of one. Key insights: 1. ChatGPT confuses popularity with authority. 2. Clinician dismissal produces concealment, which produces real harm. 3. Most advanced-stage cancer patients are using AI in secret. 4. Use AI to narrow the search, not to summarize the answer. Read the papers yourself. 5. Context hallucination is the subtle killer not invented studies, but correctly-cited studies applied to the wrong disease. 6. Concealment is a safety emergency caused by clinician posture, and disclosure is non-negotiable regardless. 7. Custom GPTs with closed corpora are the step up from consumer chat, and require real time investment. 8. A clinical team you can bring AI findings to is a prerequisite, not a nice-to-have. 9. Clinician language and clinician posture shape patient behavior — agency begets partnership begets better care. 10. n=1 is n=1. Dale's outcome is extraordinary; his method is instructive; the two must be reasoned about separately.

The evidentiary picture in Anna Kepner's case is narrow and deeply specific. Ship surveillance reportedly shows no one other than the accused entering or exiting the cabin. Anna's body was allegedly found concealed under a bed, wrapped in a blanket, covered with life jackets. The alleged concealment itself is a significant evidentiary detail — it suggests awareness of what had occurred and a deliberate attempt to delay discovery.Prosecutors have framed this as a crime that emerged without warning. No prior conflict between Anna and her stepbrother. No documented behavioral concerns. A blended family that appeared, by all accounts, to be functioning normally aboard a family vacation. The government's position is that the absence of motive strengthens their case rather than weakening it — because the physical evidence speaks for itself. The defense will have to contend with testimony from the accused's own mother, who confirmed in a separate custody hearing that her son had not taken his insomnia medication for two consecutive nights on the cruise. That medication detail may become central to whatever theory the defense ultimately advances. Meanwhile, three teenagers shared that cabin the night Anna died — including a fourteen-year-old half-sibling whose account has not been publicly disclosed. Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down the weight of the physical evidence, whether a medication argument can reach the charges as filed, and what federal sentencing looks like for a minor convicted as an adult.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? A jail email from Jim Bob Duggar to his son Joseph — obtained through public records — reveals a father who responded to his second child's arrest involving the alleged abuse of a minor with consequence management, not shock. "You have made some terrible decisions," he wrote. Not a denial. Not confusion. Just a carefully worded message from a man who navigated his first son's abuse allegations through church elders and a handpicked law enforcement contact who filed nothing — a strategy that ran out the statute of limitations and ensured his daughters never saw a prosecution. Investigators in Arkansas and Florida now have tools that didn't exist during the Josh era. Subpoena power over digital communications. The ability to interview every adult present during the 2020 family vacation, where the alleged abuse occurred. The capacity to examine whether the family's internal management pattern repeated with Joseph. Arkansas mandates immediate reporting of suspected child abuse by any adult. The statute of limitations on that obligation runs from the date of knowledge — not from the date of the conduct. If evidence places Jim Bob's awareness of Joseph's alleged behavior before the victim's disclosure, the window may not have closed. On the civil side, Arkansas has been expanding remedies for abuse survivors, and the Josh history could become evidence of notice in a negligence case against the patriarch. This monologue traces every legal pathway still open — criminal, civil, and investigative — and examines whether the wall Jim Bob built around this family can survive the pressure of a second case.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? When an evicted tenant who left behind thousands of dollars in unpaid rent and damages files a court request to conceal their eviction records, many property owners might just ignore the notice to avoid paying attorney fees. However, this episode reveals a strategic alternative: using the tenant's concealment request as leverage to negotiate a financial settlement. This week in Hidden Killers' Week in Review, the Laken Snelling case gets the examination it demands. The University of Kentucky cheerleader has been indicted on first-degree manslaughter after her newborn son was found dead — wrapped in a towel inside a black trash bag in her closet — hours after she gave birth alone at 4 a.m. on August 27, 2025. The Kentucky Medical Examiner confirmed the baby was born alive. Cause of death: asphyxia by undetermined means. What separates this case from most neonaticide prosecutions is what investigators found on her phone: deleted labor photos, week-by-week pregnancy tracking, and months of documented concealment running alongside a public life that included competing at the April 2025 national cheerleading championship and posting a TikTok listing "be a mom" as a life goal. Tony Brueski walks through the full record — the roommates kept in the dark, the 4 a.m. group chat, the whimper she admitted she heard, and the former White Pine, Tennessee classmates whose accounts form a consistent portrait of who she was before any of this.Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer and behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke then break down where this case is strong and where it's exposed. Coffindaffer examines whether the evidence sustains a first-degree manslaughter charge through trial, what the single word "guessed" is going to mean for the prosecution, and how the roommates' acceptance of "I fainted" factors into the evidentiary picture. Dreeke treats the phone record as a behavioral document — months of active parallel concealment versus simple denial — and what that distinction means for a case built on conscious disregard. Laken Snelling has pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The Laken Snelling case is built on a specific legal threshold — first-degree manslaughter, conscious disregard — and the question of whether the evidence as it currently exists can sustain that charge through trial. That is the central legal question this episode addresses.Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins True Crime Today alongside Robin Dreeke for a precise legal and procedural analysis of the Snelling case — the indictment, the evidence record, and the prosecution's path forward. The grand jury heard all four levels of criminal homicide. They landed on manslaughter. That choice — conscious disregard over negligence — is a meaningful legal finding, and Coffindaffer examines what the prosecution had to show the grand jury to get there, and what they will need to demonstrate at trial to hold it. She works through each major piece of evidence: the phone documentation, the deleted labor photos, the pregnancy tracking, the months of documented concealment, and how each element translates into legal weight under the conscious disregard standard. The single word "guessed" — used by Snelling when hospital staff asked whether her son was alive — is analyzed in specific legal terms. Coffindaffer addresses how hedged language of that nature is used when the medical examiner has already placed "born alive" in the record, and what it means for the prosecution's intent narrative. The roommate element is examined procedurally: whether their 4 a.m. acceptance of "I fainted" and return to bed constitutes something investigators had to formally account for, and whether it surfaces at trial.Dreeke adds the behavioral framework that the prosecution will need to explain to a jury — particularly around why the documented concealment pattern reflects calculated awareness rather than psychological crisis, and why that distinction matters under the law.Up to 31 years. The charge is serious. The evidence is substantial. The legal path is specific. This is the breakdown that case deserves.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Laken Snelling's phone told a story that months of public behavior was built to contradict. Deleted labor photos. Week-by-week pregnancy tracking. A documented record of concealment running alongside nationals competitions, a relationship, and a TikTok listing "be a mom" as a life goal. A grand jury saw all four levels of criminal homicide and landed on first-degree manslaughter — conscious disregard. Now the question is whether that charge holds.Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins Hidden Killers alongside Robin Dreeke to examine the Laken Snelling case from the inside — the evidence, the charge, the gaps, and where the prosecution and defense are each most exposed.Coffindaffer works through the evidentiary record with precision. The phone documentation and what it legally establishes. The word "guessed" — the language Snelling used with hospital staff when asked whether her son was alive — and how prosecutors use hedged language in a case where the medical examiner has already established the child was born alive. The roommates who heard noise for an hour at 4 in the morning, accepted a fainting explanation, and went back to bed — and whether that peripheral behavior ever becomes something the prosecution has to actively account for at trial.Dreeke addresses the behavioral layer: what the sustained parallel concealment documented on that phone reveals, how it differs from denial or dissociation, and where it sits on the behavioral spectrum of neonaticide cases. He also addresses the jury challenge — what it means to ask twelve people to hold a 22-year-old competitive athlete with no criminal record to a standard of conscious disregard when she doesn't match the assumptions most jurors carry into a case like this. The charge is first-degree manslaughter. Up to 31 years. The evidence is compelling in places and complicated in others. Laken Snelling didn't deny the pregnancy. She managed it. Tracked it week by week on her phone. Deleted the labor photos. Competed at nationals. Took what looked like maternity photos with her boyfriend. Posted a TikTok listing "be a mom" as a life goal. And gave birth alone at 4 in the morning without telling a single person. That is not denial. And Robin Dreeke — former Chief of the FBI's Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program — is precisely positioned to explain what it is.Dreeke joins Hidden Killers Live alongside retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer to apply a rigorous behavioral analysis to the Laken Snelling case — a case where the most important evidence isn't what happened at 4 in the morning, but what the months leading up to it reveal about the behavioral architecture of the person who made those choices.Dreeke walks through the behavioral distinction between denial, dissociation, and active parallel construction — and where the documented record in this case places Snelling on that spectrum. He examines what the TikTok evidence means in a behavioral context, how sustained concealment of this kind is maintained psychologically, and what the phone record as a whole communicates about awareness and intent. He also addresses the jury challenge — the specific behavioral and perceptual problem that emerges when a 22-year-old competitive athlete with no record sits at that defense table. Juries build internal models of what a defendant in a case like this is supposed to look like. When the person doesn't match, Dreeke explains what that mismatch costs the prosecution — and how it's addressed.Coffindaffer grounds the analysis in the procedural record: the charge, the evidence threshold, and what the grand jury's specific finding of conscious disregard means as this case moves toward trial.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Twenty-five days of exposure compounding.Former prosecutor Eric Faddis joins us live to break down exactly what the person responsible is facing—and why the decision they make in the next days or weeks will determine the rest of their life.If this was a break-in that ended with a death the perpetrator didn't intend, Arizona law doesn't offer much comfort. Felony murder means intent doesn't matter. A death during a burglary is a murder charge. Full stop. Concealment of the body is a separate crime. So is evidence tampering. So is flight.Faddis explains what surrendering now actually buys versus getting caught later. Walking in with a lawyer and the location of Nancy Guthrie's body is a different conversation than getting pulled in after a DNA hit. One gives the defense something to negotiate with. The other lets prosecutors argue consciousness of guilt to a jury. The problem: whoever hid Nancy also hid the evidence that could support their own defense. If the claim is "I didn't mean to kill her," how do you prove it when there's no body to examine? Both sides are stuck on cause of death—and that's the defendant's fault. We're also covering the civil side. The Guthrie family has resources. Wrongful death doesn't require a conviction. You'll come away with a stronger sense of how to hold emunah and bitachon when there is no feedback, how to stay grounded through doubt without fighting yourself, and how to cultivate a calmer, more hopeful mindset that sees meaning beneath the surface of ordinary events.Join the Conversation! Be part of our growing community—join the Shema Podcast for the Perplexed WhatsApp group to share feedback, discuss episodes, and suggest future topics. On episode 252, welcome Benjamin Saltzman to discuss the gesture of turning away, the shame and grief behind it, how it became a moral topic, turning away in art and Timanthes's lost painting of Agamemnon, Plato's tripartite concept of the soul and turning away as a mark of confusion, rigidity and steadfastness as signs of courage and character, cognitive flexibility and knowing when to turn away, Hannah Arendt and misinterpreting averted gazes as the foundation of totalitarianism, and understanding aversion without its moral trappings. Benjamin A. Saltzman is associate professor of English at the University of Chicago, where he coedits the journal Modern Philology. Saltzman is the author of Bonds of Secrecy: Law, Spirituality, and the Literature of Concealment in Early Medieval England and the coeditor of Thinking of the Medieval: Midcentury Intellectuals and the Middle Ages. The growing outrage over the delayed release of the Epstein files has reached a boiling point, with critics accusing authorities of deliberately stalling transparency in one of the most high-profile sex trafficking cases in modern history. The public was promised the full unsealing of documents that would expose key associates, enablers, and potentially high-profile figures tied to Jeffrey Epstein's criminal enterprise, yet months have passed with no significant updates. Many see this as another example of a two-tiered justice system, where the wealthy and powerful are shielded from scrutiny while the public is left in the dark. The delay has only fueled suspicions that critical information is being withheld to protect influential individuals, further eroding trust in institutions tasked with upholding the law.ocial media platforms, independent journalists, and advocacy groups have amplified calls for accountability, demanding to know why the files remain sealed despite previous commitments to release them. Hashtags like #EpsteinFiles and #ReleaseTheList continue to trend, with mounting frustration directed at both the justice system and mainstream media for their perceived lack of urgency in pursuing the full truth. The secrecy surrounding these documents only deepens concerns that the legal system is working to bury damning evidence rather than expose those complicit in Epstein's trafficking network. This case isn't just tragic — it's claustrophobic. A cabin. A blended family. A teenager found hidden under a bed. And every adult involved spiraling in a different direction while the FBI tries to reconstruct what happened in those critical early moments. Tonight on Hidden Killers, retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke joins me to break down one of the most complex psychological environments we've seen in a long time: the death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner on board a cruise ship returning to Miami. We start with the concealment. Not found in a hallway. Not found collapsed. Hidden. Wrapped. Placed under a bed. Robin explains what concealment commonly signals in juveniles and why — contrary to popular belief — it doesn't automatically equate to malicious intent. Panic can look like guilt. Shock can look like deception. Fear can fuel catastrophic decisions. Then there's the 16-year-old stepsibling — the one now labeled a suspect — and his reported claim that he “doesn't remember what happened” and was an “emotional wreck.” Robin walks us through the behavioral possibilities behind that statement: trauma, dissociation, avoidance, overwhelm, or genuine blackout under stress. Next, we dismantle the family chaos that erupted online: the biological mother melting down on TikTok, the grandmother calling it murder, the father staying silent, relatives sniping at each other publicly. Robin explains how investigators sift through emotional noise, identify authentic behavior patterns, and avoid being pulled into the whirlpool of family dysfunction. Finally, we look at what matters next: timeline consistency, nonverbal cues from the juvenile, whether stories shift, and what the autopsy reveals about intent, panic, or something in between. This is a conversation about behavior, not blame — and it may be the clearest breakdown of this case you'll hear anywhere. #HiddenKillers #AnnaKepner #TrueCrimeAnalysis #RobinDreeke #BehavioralScience #FBIProfiler #CruiseCase #FamilyDynamics #CrimeInvestigation #JuvenileBehavior Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner is not just another tragic case — it's a collision of panic, secrecy, and a blended family imploding in real time. Found hidden under a bed on a cruise ship, wrapped and concealed, Anna's final moments are surrounded by unanswered questions and emotionally charged reactions from nearly every member of her family. Tonight on Hidden Killers, I sit down with retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke to cut through the noise and focus on the behavioral reality inside that small cabin. Because cases like this aren't just about evidence — they're about human choices under pressure. We look at the concealment: Why was Anna hidden? What does that typically signal in juvenile behavior? Where is the line between immaturity-driven panic and intentional wrongdoing? We examine the claim from the grandmother that the 16-year-old “doesn't remember what happened.” Is that trauma? Dissociation? Avoidance? Or something investigators hear when the truth is too overwhelming to say out loud? We explore what happens when adults make catastrophic decisions — like placing teenagers with known tension in the same sleeping quarters — and how that shapes what happens next. And then there's the public chaos: the stepmother pleading the Fifth, the biological mother spiraling on social media, relatives accusing each other, all while a teen girl is gone. Robin breaks down how investigators filter useful behavior from emotional theater and why public performance can sometimes be a clue in itself. This is the interview that strips away the speculation and digs into the actual human behavior behind the headlines. If you want clarity instead of noise, depth instead of rumor — you're in the right place. #HiddenKillers #AnnaKepnerCase #CruiseShipInvestigation #RobinDreeke #BehaviorAnalysis #TrueCrimeBreakdown #CrimePsychology #FBIExpert #JuvenileInvestigation #FamilyChaos Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? EMDR: A 21st-Century Approach to Trauma – AI and Plagiarism in Counselling Training In Episode 356 of the Counselling Tutor Podcast, your hosts Rory Lees-Oakes and Ken Kelly take us through this week's three topics: Firstly, in ‘Ethical, Sustainable Practice', they explore the sensitive topic of lying in therapy, examining why clients may lie or conceal information through a trauma-informed perspective and how therapists can respond with compassion. Then in ‘Practice Matters', Rory speaks with Andrew Kidd about EMDR therapy - what it is, how it works, and why it's considered a cutting-edge 21st-century therapeutic intervention. And finally, in ‘Student Services', Rory and Ken discuss the rising concern of AI and plagiarism in counselling training, including guidance for ethical use and how assessment may evolve. Lying in Therapy [starts at 03:11 mins] In this section, Rory and Ken examine lying in therapy, unpacking the nuances behind client dishonesty and offering guidance on how therapists can navigate concealment with empathy. Key points discussed include: Lying in therapy is common and often rooted in past trauma or a need to protect the self. Concealment may serve as a survival mechanism shaped by earlier life experiences. Incongruence between a client's words and behaviours can be gently explored without judgement. Strong therapeutic relationships and non-judgemental approaches create safety for honesty to emerge. Therapists are often not adept at detecting lies - emphasis should be placed on understanding behaviour rather than catching deception. Dishonesty can signal areas of deep pain; responding with curiosity rather than confrontation is key. EMDR: A 21st-Century Approach to Trauma [starts at 23:40 mins] In this week's ‘Practice Matters', Rory speaks with Andrew Kidd, BACP senior accredited counsellor and EMDR Europe accredited practitioner, about EMDR as a powerful method for trauma reprocessing. Key points from this conversation include: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) originated in 1987 and integrates neurobiological and relational approaches. It is not a talk therapy but an experiential, highly structured method using bilateral stimulation (e.g. eye movements). The eight-phase protocol includes history taking, preparation, activation, desensitisation, installation, body scan, closure, and re-evaluation. EMDR enables clients to process traumatic memories without needing to disclose every detail to the therapist. Training is intensive and requires therapists to already be accredited and trauma-informed. Andrew will be offering an EMDR overview lecture inside the Counsellor CPD Library soon. EMDR Association UK AI and Plagiarism in Counselling Training [starts at 52:34 mins] In this section, Rory and Ken discuss the impact of AI tools like ChatGPT on assignment writing and how to ethically and responsibly integrate technology into counselling education. Key points include: Assignments must be students' own work - AI-generated content must be clearly acknowledged and referenced. AI can be used as a planning or brainstorming tool, not as a substitute for personal reflection or lived experience. Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) guidance outlines AI use as malpractice if not transparently declared. Reflective and experiential elements of counselling training cannot be replicated by AI. Tutors are encouraged to explore diverse assessment methods beyond written essays to evaluate learning authentically. Academic correspondent Sarah Henry shares how relational, discussion-based, and observational assessment can complement or replace traditional formats. Summary: This insightful conversation on the Trainers Bullpen delves into the most recent critical research on knife attacks, particularly focusing on the dynamics of close-range concealed knife assaults and their implications for law enforcement training. Dr. Michael Kantor discusses the study he and colleagues conducted - 'Close Quarter Concealed Knife Attacks: How Much Time Do You Have? which was published in Police journal: Theory, Practice and Principles in 2025. This important study examines the speed and effectiveness of knife attacks, the importance of understanding attack distances, and the types of knife attack biomechanics and their effect on lethality. The findings highlight the need for law enforcement to adapt their training to better prepare for the rapid nature of these threats, emphasizing the significance of concealment, the close distance, and the speed of response.Takeaways:• The average attack time for concealed knife attacks from 8 feet is about 1.4 seconds. The fastest person in the study completed the attack in 1 second.• Males are significantly faster than females in executing knife attacks.• The thrust attack is the fastest and most lethal method of knife assault.• Concealment of the knife changes the dynamics of the attack significantly.• Training should simulate real-world scenarios to prepare officers effectively.• The 21-foot rule may not fully represent the dynamics of knife attacks.• Understanding the time it takes to respond is crucial for law enforcement training.• Knife attacks can occur within five to six feet, often within the first step.• The act of concealment is a critical factor in the timing of knife attacks.
