    Aunt Jemima: The Fair, Foods, and Branding

    The Columbian Exposition of 1893 is linked to several famous American food brands, including Vienna Beef Hot Dogs and Hershey's Chocolate. But it was also the debut of Aunt Jemima, the famous mascot for the ready-made pancake mix brand. And in the years since, the mascot and the brand have been the topic of controversy.     America Online: Internet Goes Mainstream

    The Bagel Bakers of New York City

    Arthur Ashe: Activism

    Jonas Salk: Discovery

In 1916 alone, polio took the lives of six thousand Americans, and left thousands more paralyzed.
