In this one I sit down with Adam Lehman, one half of The Wonder Jam from here in Columbus Ohio, the other half, Allie Lehman, was the very first episode ever released of what you don’t hear, and now, here we are, nearly an entire calendar year later, I’m back to chat with Adam. In a fun conversation that is Adam and I's first time getting to know each other, we chat about what this whacky year has been like for him and his team, how they still managed to launch 3 sister brand's for their company this year, how he does business, how he got his entrepreneur start via running a pig farm, and much more!
In this episode, we mentioned the following:Simi's book, Letting Go of Leo: How I Broke Up with Perfection.Simi's virtual barre membership, UNMEASURED.Our shared health coach and friend, Amy Marzluff. How to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.Allie Lehman's amazing newsletter, A Consideration.Fearing the Black Body: The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia by Sabrina Strings, Ph.D.Untamed by Glennon Doyle.Katie Dalebout's podcast, Let it Out.
The Wonder Jam is a brood of brands that help scrappy, soulful businesses grow: https://withbasis.com/ (Basis) helps retail brands build online experiences, https://withwonderly.com/ (Wonderly) is a branding agency for small businesses that offer “exceedingly special services,” and https://studiojcolumbus.com/ (Studio J) is space for our community’s best photographers and videographers. But what do all of these brands have in common? A common set of values — values that leave no room for BS in relationships or communication — and a team of wonderfully creative people who truly care about their community and the people who they work with. And that team is led by our guests Adam and Allie Lehman, who founded The Wonder Jam in 2013. Today, we dig into the creation of this unique family business, how Adam + Allie’s beautiful relationship has flourished over the last seven years, and their approach to helping businesses transform and grow. SEASON ONE FINALE! We LOVED this episode so much and we could not have picked a better couple to be our final episode for this first season of our podcast! Allie and Adam Lehman are the co-owners of The Wonder Jam, a marketing company here in Columbus, Ohio that specializes in local business. We jammed about everything from business to marriage, and all the goodies in-between. We touch on the topics of codependency, owning a business with a partner/spouse, being kind, planning time apart, and therapy. Allie and Adam tells us who inspires them, but we also discuss the importance of not putting other people on pedestals and how we should see what exactly inspires us about this person and try to incorporate that value or characteristic into our practice, but not try to morph into this person who inspires us. We loved the business advice that at some point you have to stop “doing homework” and actually start putting things out and how it’s easy to just get distracted by just busying yourself the homework. We end the conversation discussing one of the topics from our favorite podcaster, Dax Shepard from The Armchair Expert. Dax often says that he “got all the things” he thought he wanted, but still wasn’t happy. We discuss that you have to decide your own definition of success and you have to do the work on yourself to be happy in yourself or nothing is going fulfill you.We so hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did and we will see you all again in season 2 coming to you January 2020!
