This episode is unlike any other because I go on a deep dive into the mindset of my real life clients. If you want to better understand what your clients are really looking for, how to turn prospects into buyers and how to build real trust and credibility then take a listen to what my actual clients have to say.  Kelly & Glen Patchet, founders of Quarterback Digital, joined me to talk about the importance of marketing while sharing various marketing tactics, why they chose to work with me, AND what it was actually like to work with me and my team! Kelly and Glen Patchet are Co-Founders of Quarterback Digital, a digital marketing agency in downtown Toronto. Serving clients across Canada and the US, they run the marketing efforts for their clients, driving traffic, generating leads and increasing sales for thought leaders and people who sell their expertise. Leading a team of marketing specialists Glen and Kelly are the marketing quarterbacks calling the plays for their clients. Throughout our conversation, Kelly and Glen share the reason that they decided to work with my interior design company instead of anyone else  – it was my process! This really was amazing to hear because it solidified my belief that if you develop a unique process that works for you, follow it and communicate it to your potential ideal clients, it DOES make a difference and creates raving fan clients! Further into our conversation, Kelly, Glen & I chat about the marketing. Marketing is incredibly important for any company, big or small, new or established. The more confident you are in the inner workings (process) of your business, the better suited you are to talk it up and market yourself to your ideal client. They shared some marketing tactics that you can use in a service based business. Lastly, if you stick through to the end, you'll also find out how Kelly & Glen felt when I informed them they had to pay for a consultation with me at the beginning of my process! In this episode, I open up about one of the most challenging experiences in my interior design business: taking on a project that looked ideal on the surface but was packed with red flags I chose to ignore. From clashing personalities and unrealistic expectations to late-night stress and burned-out team members, this project took a toll—financially, emotionally, and mentally. Inside the episode: What early red flags to look for in potential clients Why even a full payment upfront isn't always a green flag How ignoring your gut can cost you more than just money How to use your intake process to filter for your ideal client Why saying “no” is a skill every designer needs to build What green flags to watch for so you love the clients you take on Whether you're an emerging designer or scaling your firm, this episode will help you identify who's truly the right fit for your services—and how to protect your business, your time, and your energy.   Join the Stand Out Designer Bootcamp → rebeccahay.com/bootcamp   Download our Free Resources ➡️ Pre-qualify your clients with my Discovery Call Script ➡️ Stay confident from beginning to end with my Consultation Checklist    ➡️ Looking for a quick infusion of cash? We all want to work with our version of a premium client, but before we do so, we need to establish a premium approach. Working with premium clients demands a premium approach, and in this episode, I'm sharing how to do exactly that!  This episode shares examples of what kind of client this person actually is and what they expect. One spoiler I'll give away is that a premium client doesn't always equate to "premium money". I share a few questions to ask yourself to help you create a good first impression, stand by your boundaries, and include unique personal touches in the entire experience. I dive into some examples of how I learned this lesson the hard way and use some "Rebecca tough love" to encourage you to ensure your clients feel safe, secure, and can relax trusting that you've got their best interests at heart.   Episode resource Sign up for my bootcamp here     Download our Free Resources ➡️ Pre-qualify your clients with my Discovery Call Script ➡️ Stay confident from beginning to end with my Consultation Checklist ➡️ Looking for a quick infusion of cash? In this episode, I'm sharing a tip that will change your life and your business. As an interior designer, you are first and foremost a problem solver! High-level clients want solutions, not a menu of options! The best thing you can do to help clients understand your value is to hone in and define your core offering, a prime service that will be the pillar of your business. This helps to establish your professionalism and that you're not winging it until you find what sticks. Having a core offering, let's you be clear about what service you provide and the problems you solve for your clients! Through the episode, I share a few scenarios of my own and some questions to ask yourself so you can give your clients what they really need, erase all the fluff, and allow you the freedom to be the expert in your business.   Sign up for my bootcamp here    Download our Free Resources ➡️ Pre-qualify your clients with my Discovery Call Script ➡️ Stay confident from beginning to end with my Consultation Checklist    ➡️ Looking for a quick infusion of cash? We all want consistent work, but what happens when that work is consistently lacking? Today I share my own experience being stuck inside a seemingly never ending loop of budget clients, how it happened and how I escaped. These are clients that may be great when you start out, but don't level up budget wise or quality wise as you and your business grow. You need to be sure you are aligned with your true, unique strengths so you can avoid getting stuck, burnt out and uninspired. I leave you with a bit of homework so you can take a beat to really listen, learn and identify the ways to prevent or escape the pitfalls and challenges that come with a budget client loop. Our identities shift and evolve as we age and I've found clinging to the ego can do more harm than good. I've been battling through a major business decision for over a year and have finally been able to come out through to the other side which I share in this episode. I had to listen to my body, say goodbye to the ego, and let go of the perceptions of others to finally reach this place of peace.
