In honor of March being Women's History Month, we ask -- What does it mean to be a Warrior Goddess? To our guest today, author and teacher HeatherAsh Amara, that means reclaiming both our power and our compassion as women. We must have both of these qualities. It's a renewal of our commitment, passion, and creativity.   Women today juggle a lot of roles and often put the needs of others ahead of their own. And even then, they often feel like they're not enough. Women can feel like they are not able to speak up and have their voices heard. Although things may have changed on the outside, on the inside we may still feel self-doubt where we don't honor ourselves deeply. We often put ourselves last, especially when we recognize how women tend to be caretakers. HeatherAsh advises us to take time for self-care. It's so important. She suggests setting up “date nights” with ourselves, whether this means going out to a museum, or taking a long bath at home. HeatherAsh talks about the idea of receiving and recommends that we ask for support, so that we are not placing the entire burden on ourselves. HeatherAsh also offers tips as to how to raise a Warrior Goddess daughter. We must be the role models. HeatherAsh also discusses her book, “Warrior Goddess Training.” She'll show you how to release the layers of expectations to finally see yourself for the authentic, perceptive, perfect woman you already are! Info: warriorgoddess.com

Best Of The Aware Show With Jim Selman and Dr. Srini Pillay: Co-Creating in a Polarized World

Is it possible to have two strongly opposing points of view and still get along and work together? And if so, how can two sides, who are both committed to their own views, come to a conclusion? Are you more committed to politics, for example, or are you more committed to your relationships? Today Lisa talks once again with executive coach Jim Selman and psychiatrist Dr. Srini Pillay. Together they invite us to create a new mind, so we can create a new world. Jim Selman is an executive coach and talks about how leadership is a willingness to commit to a possibility before evidence is shown. Jim has worked within the corporate sector in management. He has learned to navigate opposing views and worked with both managers and those in unions. Neither party can be completely satisfied but they can work together. He talks about possibility thinking and its role in leadership. Psychiatrist Dr. Srini Pillay talks about leadership and a willingness to acknowledge possibilities, even before there's evidence. He talks about how the amygdala in the brain processes all emotions. Fear is at the forefront as we need to protect ourselves. Srini further discusses suffering and how it works in the brain. It can feel like we are being attacked, and we want people to understand it. The root of polarization is the difference between living in a state of suffering or living in a state of possibility. How is it possible to get along with others who have completely opposite views? Unless you are willing to acknowledge and respect the legitimacy of the other, then no reconciliation is possible. We automatically assume that the other person is wrong, yet no conclusion can be proven true or false. We must allow others to have judgements without reaction. It is not the truth, nor is it a falsehood. So how do we learn to live together in a way where each person can have their own opinions, yet we allow for respect of one another's views? We don't have to agree, and we can learn to create together. Most polarization gets stuck when people will not allow room for another person's view. Together they talk about consciousness, balance, and non-judgmental thinking. This leads to creative solutions.  There is a way to have a conversation and not get to an agreement but still allow for the possibility of co-creation. If you can do this in a polarized environment, you actually have more power and can create a common future. This interview was part of a series originally taped in August of 2020, and we air this show in honor of Jim Selman who passed away recently. Jim was an executive coach and pioneer in the field of personal and organizational transformation. He is the author of numerous books including “Leadership” and “Living in a Real-Time World: 6 Capabilities to Prepare Us for an Unimaginable Future.” Info: jimselman.com and drsrinipillay.com.

What does it meant to create a new world? Would you like to escape limited ways of thinking and find your power?  Our guests today are executive coach Jim Selman and psychiatrist Dr. Srini Pillay. Together they invite us to create a new mind, so we can create a new world. Jim Selman talks about futuristic thinking and who we have to be as we navigate a changing world. He is the founder of Executive Coaching and author of many books. Dr. Srini Pillay is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist who works within the corporate, technology, and government sectors. He is also author of several books. Jim and Srini believe this is the greatest possible time to live. Many of the ways we've been taught to live may not stand up to old beliefs. Why are the problems of the world continuing? How can we shift how we relate? We live in a world of uncertainty and there's been a long tradition of “how” to do things, especially in the self-help world. When you ask “How?” it doesn't give you ways to work in the future. We have had pandemics, wars, and a history of conflict. Jim and Srini decided to study the ways in which successful people don't follow a particular formula. We are being asked to shift our mindsets to come up with different results. Jim moved from management and consulting to executive coaching. He continuously asked why it was so possible to come up with answers, but so challenging to implement them. There is a belief that it's hard to change. This led Jim into the idea of transformation in the 1970s, when he worked with Esalen Institute. He determined that managers tried to control the result, yet in the worlds of art and sports, coaches do not try to control the performance. They don't control the behavior of others. This opened the world of coaching to him, so he learned to work with others to offer results without control. This was an alternative to management, especially in the corporate world. Srini teaches that you don't need to follow the herd. We can look inside for the answers. He talks about the definition of leadership and how it involves “becoming yourself.” A lot of people think there's a way they are “supposed” to be. This involves competence, autonomy, and social relatedness, yet in order to have a sense of purpose, we must be and become ourselves. Jim and Srini explain about their idea of “Existential Confidence” as a way for people to transform. Joining philosophy with neuroscience and psychology can help you to access yourself. Successful people are not mimicking others. They are expressing from the self. Who do we need to be to create change? They talk about confidence, commitment, and possibilities. Ordinary confidence is based on our experience. We've either done it or seen examples of it. We accept that the world is changing at an extraordinary rate. Our grounding and realities are breaking down. Common sense is not so common or reliable. We need to reinvent our relationship to what's going on. We don't have maps to get there. This is Existential Confidence. It's a confidence that rises within us, that is absolute self-trust. People may tell us it's impossible, but we know we can undertake what needs to be done. It's the kind of confidence that allows you to enjoy the journey and not constantly question. It's what you need if you are going to create or co-create the future. If it's truly going to be a future that works for most all of us, it's going to require that level of Existential Confidence. It encompasses the wholeness of who we are as human beings. It's our relationship to the future. Jim and Srini deeply discuss that is possible to pivot and create possibilities. You can change your identify from being a follower to being a creative leader. You no longer copy others. You develop your own way. We can create the reality we want to see. We can create the future. This interview was originally taped in August of 2020, and we air this show in honor of Jim Selman who passed away recently. Jim was an executive coach and pioneer in the field of personal and organizational transformation.  Do you believe in UFOs? Is it possible that there are extraterrestrials here on planet Earth? Do unidentified beings walk among us? This is so hard to imagine, but humanity is at a time where we can take a leap in consciousness and understand that this may be a possibility. Our guest today is the esteemed civil rights attorney, Daniel Sheehan. Daniel is Harvard-educated and has worked on high-profile cases such as the Karen Silkwood case and Iran Contra civil case. He is also at the forefront of the unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) Disclosure movement which aims to bring transparency to this phenomenon. He is also the founder of the New Paradigm Institute and the Romero Institute, dedicated to social and environmental justice.   Today Danny talks about the direct link between spirituality and consciousness. When confronted by challenges, we can turn to spirituality. When we see how incredibly vast our universe really is, it's easier to imagine that we are not alone. There are different dimensions and different realities. We have limited understanding, but by opening up to exploration, and especially by learning from indigenous peoples, we can broaden our perspectives. As a civil rights attorney, Daniel has done  a lot of work with the Lakota people. He explains how they believe they come from the Pleiades in their spiritual tradition. This is a specific constellation visible to us.  They believe they have had a lot of encounters with Star People. The Shamans receive messages which they share within their community. We have evidence of tens of thousands of people having these encounters around the world. Now science is studying this phenomenon, and our government is investigating these incidents. Our worldviews depend on whether we view them as a threat, or as spiritual, enlightened beings. We are in a period right now where more people are open to this information. It may help us to answer profound questions – it may be a threat, or it may be an opportunity. We have Free Will and we can explore and determine our own answers. Daniel Sheehan will be speaking at the upcoming Conscious Life Expo at the LAX Hilton on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2pm Pacific. His topic is “The Present State ‘Official U.S. Government Disclosure' of the UFO/E.T. Reality.” He will also have a post-conference on Monday, Feb. 10.  Do you feel patterns are holding you back? Did you know that our unconscious minds are running our lives 95% of the time?  Our past experiences oftentimes keep us in a loop of negativity and suppression. Spiritual healer and psychic medium Dame Sandra Biskind joins us today to talk about the importance of accessing and listening to your inner guidance. Sandra has been a medium since childhood and has dedicated her time to help end suffering. She was Knighted in the Greek Orthodox Order of St John in 2017 for the work she does in the world to help people become happier, healthier, and more abundant.   Sandra talks about how subconscious patterns run our lives and explains how people are reacting to the negative unconscious mind. She discusses the Quantum Neutrality Process, co-created by herself and her husband, Daniel Biskind. She talks about her ability to access past lives with her clients. Many emotions and patterns may be held there. By tapping into this information, she explains how to become neutral and essentially delete the karmic agreements and the way they are manifesting in this lifetime.   It can be very challenging to raise your vibration if you are stuck in these old karmic patterns. If you allow the subconscious to run your life, manifestation will be much more difficult. It's self-sabotage from within.   Sandra shares ways to get rid of these habits so you can manifest much more. It takes work to illuminate these patterns. In her practice, she works with ancient beings who help and guide her in her work. She goes directly  into the unconscious programming. She talks about how the only way to have peace is to have forgiveness. You cannot forgive unless you become neutral. You can love so fully that you become non-judgmental.  Judgements are a very low-frequency vibration.  She talks about forgiving the unforgiveable. It's not about condoning the evil but realizing that unconscious programs are running. She also talks about giving up on blaming and complaining and how freeing that is. When we can stop, not blame, and stay out of victimhood, we can then take radical responsibility. Because of frequency and mindset, it's possible to change. Sandra asks us to look at our feelings and where we are focusing. How do you want to feel? And what focus can help you feel that? Gratitude helps tremendously! Sandra Biskind will be speaking at Conscious Life Expo held at the LAX Hilton in Los Angeles on Feb 7 – 10, 2025. The American healthcare system is dealing with more mental health issues than ever before. What is the root of the uprising in anxiety and mood disorders? Why are more young people, children and teenagers, receiving this diagnosis and what can we do as a society to help understand? Today's guest, Susan Swick, MD, MPH is the Executive Director of Ohana, the integrated program for child and adolescent mental and behavioral health and healing at Montage Health, and the Vice President and Chief Mental Health Officer at Montage Health. She began her career at Rikers Island, studying the mental health needs of the incarcerated, which led her to studying younger patients, specifically the field of child psychiatry and how these children can be helped at an earlier age. How much is environmental and how much is the neurology of the brain? There is a rise in mental health issues in children. Childhood, from a brain perspective, ends closer to age 25. Skills like socialization, communication, and bonding are still forming until approximately this age. We develop skills prior to this age which can affect our mental health for the rest of our lives. But, there's good news and treatment is available! It can be corrected using a type of supportive mental health technique using skill-building so children learn to manage anxiety – it's like a type of mental health “tutoring” so they can manage something new and challenging, even if frightening. It is possible to build skills toward stronger health and mental fitness.  Dr. Swick also talks about social media and how children become addicted to being online with a dopamine hit, especially in teenagers. Many compare themselves to others and eating disorders may start here. The reward part of the brain also does not mature until approximately age 26.   Over a distinguished 20-year career as a clinical psychiatrist and educator, Dr. Swick has helped transform how American healthcare systems meet the escalating demand for pediatric and adolescent mental and behavioral healthcare treatment and services. A graduate of Columbia University Medical School, she previously served as Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Newton Wellesley Hospital and as an instructor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.    In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Swick is an advocate for the importance of mental fitness and has developed nationally recognized neuroscience strategies to help young people build and maintain a state of emotional health and positive self-awareness throughout their lives. Today Lisa continues her conversation with mega-bestselling author Dr Wayne Dyer about the power of intention, and how we can learn to create a life we love.    Wayne, a dear friend of The Aware Show, joins us again to share his stories that create healing for all of us. He is one of the most popular best-selling authors and lecturers on spiritually motivational topics, and he will discuss how to look at life's challenges and see the spiritual blessings and answers. Wayne talks about questioning your spirituality, especially when negative circumstances occur. If you feel you have experienced a series of misfortunes, he suggests stopping and reminding yourself that this is a universe of abundance. Ask “what am I doing to attract this?” then aim to bring in a Higher Energy. Stop yourself and put things into perspective. Believe that things will improve.  Wayne reminds us that we become what we think about. He advises us to put a picture on the refrigerator of how you would like to be. Use the “Power of Intention” and stay connected to Source Energy. Know that you are stronger than any addiction. Go to God for assistance. He also reminds us that for every act of evil, there are millions of acts of kindness, all over the world. There are just a few isolated people who are trying to convince us otherwise.   Wayne is an internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development and is affectionately called the “father of motivation” by his fans. He's the author of more than 35 books, has created audio programs and videos, and has appeared on thousands of television and radio shows. Lisa continues the conversation with guest Regan Archibald, Lac, FMP who talks about specific blood tests which do just that. Regan is one of the leading Peptide, Functional Medicine, and Longevity Specialists in the US. His award-winning center, EastWest Health, has performed thousands of comprehensive blood tests which include nearly 100 important markers that allow Regan and his team to understand the root cause of health issues. Regan is an international speaker and is the author of nine books including “The Peptide Blueprint” and “Ageless Future.”  In this segment, Regan talks about blending Western medicine with Eastern. He talks about the ancient art of Chinese medicine and how emperors wanted immortality. They were on a quest for longevity.  Eastern modalities are valid and tested scientifically. It's a more natural way of healing and methods that worked in the past are still powerful today. Regan also talks about infections. How do we get chronic infections in our guts? You need to test to see what type of infection it is in order to heal it. We can get infections from travelling, from parasites, from our pets, even from unsatisfactory conditions in restaurants. If you grew up with a diet where you were exposed to herbicides and pesticides, you probably have an unhealthy gut. Unhealthy genetically modified foods have affected us all. People who live in industrial countries have infections due to toxic exposure.  It attacks our immune systems. Detoxing can also help. It's all based on testing. Mint, parsley, and cilantro are natural ways to help the detoxification process. Exercise is the best way to heal and detox. Movement helps tremendously to release toxins. You can get phenomenal health results by detoxing, and then adding peptides. Regan talks about the dedicated process of taking six months to improve your health. There are no quick fixes. Most people want to change, but it does take courage and commitment. How good would you like to feel? Do you sometimes experience foggy thinking? Have you ever had a concussion or been hit on the head? Last year, Lisa had a major bike accident that caused a concussion and brain inflammation. Do you know that this inflammation can also affect your mood, your thinking, your vision, your gut health, and more? What if there was a test that could determine how much inflammation you have in your body based on markers? Our guest today, researcher Regan Archibald, Lac, FMP,  talks about specific blood tests which do just that. Regan is one of the leading Peptide, Functional Medicine, and Longevity Specialists in the US. His award-winning center, EastWest Health, has performed thousands of comprehensive blood tests which include nearly 100 important markers that allow Regan and his team to understand the root cause of health issues. Regan is an international speaker and is the author of nine books including “The Peptide Blueprint” and “Ageless Future.”  Even if you have never experienced head trauma, you may have had a health crisis at some point. The crisis can sometimes cause chronic illness. Regan became obsessed with studying peptides in the body after more than six concussions. He grew up on a ranch in Idaho where he rode dirt bikes, skateboards, mountain bikes, snowboards, and participated in other dangerous activities. After numerous concussions, his entire personality changed. He was no longer interested in school and studying, he found himself with a different group of friends, he was even dressing differently. He always had ADD, but found it was getting much worse. About a year later, he attended a conference where he heard a lecture about stem cells. Emergency Room doctors talked about using medication, but another doctor talked about a method of healing the brain by using a specific nasal spray. Regan became the first researcher and first person outside of a clinical trial to use this method for internasal stem cells. After his treatment, he slept very deeply and woke up able to quiet his mind for the first time. It was such a profound experience, he started researching ways to progress this method. Through studying stem cells, he learned about peptides that could help with regeneration, boosting the immune system, building muscles, and so much more.   Scientists have identified about 7,000 different peptides in the body, but they become somewhat dormant as we age. We lose the ability to receive the signal. The receptors change and genes get turned off, but it's now possible to turn them back on! If you've been exposed to harmful chemicals, had an accident, been under stress, or even had an infection, peptides can be very beneficial to healing. Toxins stay in the fat of our bodies and brains and peptides can help with releasing harmful elements.  Regan has developed specialized blood tests that can determine which peptides can be the most beneficial. Most people have chronic inflammation. This usually shows up in the gut first. The Vagus Nerve gets disrupted, and disease migrates into the digestive system. When inflammation cannot get flushed out of the brain, certain signals begin to disfunction. Sleep is the best detoxification for our brains. It's very important to recover from concussions for optimal brain health. The brain immediately tries to cope and therefore adapts. It turns off and on certain cells. There is so much research on aging and how the brain begins to shrink, but this does not have to be the case.  Regan's team can run specific lab tests and spend time explaining the details and results with you individually. If you are interested in learning more, or participating in a blood test as well as meeting with a consultant, pls visit https://agelessfuture.com/lisa/ You will be asked to fill out a form, then you can meet with a specialist.  What is “channeling”? Who are these beings and where are they from? Today's guest is Darryl Anka, who channels an extraterrestrial entity called Bashar, which is an Arabic word that means “messenger.” After experiencing two UFO sightings in broad daylight in Los Angeles, Darryl began to research this subject and became familiar with an array of metaphysical topics, including channeling. During today's interview Darryl explains how he became a channel and what that really means. He and Lisa have a deep conversation in which Darryl talks about raising your frequency, the misconception of linear time, and how if everything is happening simultaneously, then Bashar could be a future version of Darryl himself.   Darryl also discusses conspiracy theories and how to get clear within yourself and discern to make empowering choices, rather than a decision to fill an emptiness.  He explains how we can only experience that which we are the frequency of and how we can vibrate toward solutions. This is perhaps a more advanced version of physics. When you apply these principles and techniques, you can experience dramatic and positive results. They further talk about detachment and how we really, truly do not know the best, highest outcome, but we must make positive decisions and strive for the freedom to make empowering choices.    Darryl has channeled Bashar's information internationally for nearly 40 years, providing powerful methods by which people can change their lives in positive ways.  Bashar's information has been published in more than 20 books in the U.S. and Japan and hundreds of CDs and DVDs have been distributed worldwide through Bashar Communications.     In addition to his channeling career, Darryl also has more than 30 years of experience in miniature effects, storyboards, sets, and designs on three "Star Trek" films, "Iron Man," and "Pirates of the Caribbean," among many others.     Over the past few years, Darryl has shifted his film career to writing, directing, and producing and has created three feature films, including a documentary called “First Contact” about how he became a channel for Bashar. Sept 11, 2024, marks the 23rd anniversary of one of America's darkest days. To shed light and understanding about the collective grief and trauma so many faced, we are joined by spiritual teacher and best-selling author Guy Finley. Guy is the Founder of Life of Learning Foundation and the best-selling author of “Letting Go,” “The Secret of Letting Go,” and more than 25 other books. His books have sold millions of copies in multiple languages worldwide. Today he talks about how to look at tragedy and specifically addresses 9/11 and the pain that ensued. He shares how 9/11 changed us and also taught us resilience. He asks us to ask ourselves have we learned the lesson in that pain, both as a nation and as a collection of individuals? And if we have not, then did that event unite us in a new understanding? Or did it divide us further?  Whether a national tragedy or a personal situation, how can we learn the lesson of pain? When we come upon a tragedy, it may also divide us further. Guy deeply examines the nature of “blame” and how it is so difficult for us not to blame. Typically, the first reaction to tragedy is to point the finger. After 9/11, our freedoms were affected literally overnight.  Who is to blame? If tragedy doesn't change us, it becomes vague. What did this situation reveal to us about ourselves? What freedoms have we taken for granted? Prior to 9/11, security was much different at the airports.  How can we use these unwanted moments? Do we go into panic? Guy says there is no psychological fear without negative imagination. So commonly, the pain makes us place blame. When we can recognize it, we can realize it serves no purpose to blame. We can liberate ourselves from a mind with a negative imagination.  We can liberate our minds from the past. We can realize that each moment is new.  There is a way to train ourselves to process the negativity. This is a different level of consciousness. The solution to the suffering is to realize that the pain has no idea what to do. We cannot buy into the negativity and continue to place blame. We must change as individuals before we can see change in our world.  Guy asks us to consider, “What is your relationship with the Divine?” In the moment when there's a problem or pain, when we resist it, we are resisting our reaction to it. It seems to threaten us. When we resist, we feel attacked. It's a misunderstanding of the event. So, how do you illuminate the event to come to a new conclusion?   Silence can help. If anxiety is guiding you, then fear and negativity are the rulers at that moment. Anger, fear, and worry all lead us toward negativity. What we give our attention to is what we are in relationship with. This guides our experience.   If we are afraid, there's something that believes the fear is real. According to Guy, “The fear is real but the ‘Why' is a ‘Lie.'” Our lower brain creates a response of tension. Guy offers prayers to allow the Divine to let us know the truth. He also teaches free classes online twice a week. Info: GuyFinley.org  and GuyFinley.org/online for free classes.

After six months, the medical community declared her cancer-free. Her diet and affirmations were so important, but most importantly Louise says she learned to forgive. After a very challenging childhood filled with abuse, she knew she was carrying resentment and knew she needed to release it. She looked into the childhoods of her parents and realized they both came from very difficult places and passed along what they learned. This was the key to forgiving them both. Amelia discusses how she developed her gift and how you too might be able to develop the ability to communicate with your animal friends, whether they be winged, finned, scaled, or furred. Amelia also discusses how animals are being exploited in different areas of the world and how hunters are spending exorbitant amounts of money for trophy animals in Africa. She has various animal charity events where she's raising awareness of these practices and also teaching people how to understand what animals are thinking and feeling. She explains that you can learn to use your body as an instrument. This is a meditative process involving silencing your mind, so there's no negativity, no inner dialogue. This prepares you to be able to sit in silence with another animal. Be in awe of the animal's grace. Be in gratitude. Then you can be in communication. She discusses how our animals can take on our problems and diseases. There is one enormous field, and we are all connected. When something gets out of balance, our cells are not communicating. This can reflect in our animals as well. The concept of harmony and communication between all living things can happen in this field of higher vibration. Amelia also discusses what animals worldwide think about humans.   Amelia has been listed in The 100 Top Psychics in America. A full-time animal communicator, she is sought by veterinarians, animal rescue organizations, and animal lovers all over the world.  Amelia is the author of numerous books including “Aurora's Secret” and “Straight From the Horse's Mouth: How to Talk to Animals and Get Answers.” Amelia's true passion is assisting animal rescue organizations in Africa who create safe havens for relocated tigers, lions, White Lions, elephants, cheetah, Great White Sharks, penguins, baboons, and even bats and snakes. Info: www.ameliakinkade.com.

Are you on the verge of making changes in your life but feel like something is holding you back?  Are you ready for something new but aren't quite sure where to start?  Today's guest is author Nancy Levin who discusses her new book “Jump and Your Life Will Appear.”  Nancy will help you understand how to negotiate the fears, set the boundaries, and give you the information on how to gracefully land on your feet after taking your leap. Do you sometimes seek external approval? Nancy explains that it starts by looking within first. She realized that she wanted people to think she was living a perfect life. She believed that that was more important than living a happy life. She shares the intimate story of her younger brother passing away and how that affected her. She sought external validation and recognized she was a people-pleaser. She realized that we draw to us people who reflect us. We disown qualities of ourselves and project them on others. This is part of our shadow. Often the people closest to us activate us the most. We will keep being tested by being triggered. We can ask ourselves, “What are you unwilling to change?” She talks about 10 steps to making a major change. Our bodies know the truth. She invites us to ask ourselves, “What are you hiding?” It comes down to making choices.  We can set boundaries. She explains how we can find our voice and become empowered. She invites us to take inventory before we make a change. We are where we are today because of all the choices we made previously. In the present moment, every choice matters. We can ask, “Will this move me forward?” or “Am I sabotaging myself?” You can make one different choice at a time. It's a step-by-step process. We must be honest with ourselves and set boundaries. She suggests that we block time off in our day for ourselves. Whether we go on a hike or a run or simply spend it in quiet time, it helps to make that commitment to ourselves. Nancy explains that suffering comes from our unwillingness to accept things as they are. If we are present and can fully choose, we can make different choices. Nancy is the bestselling author of “Jump … And Your Life Will Appear” and “Writing For My Life.” She is a Certified Integrative Coach through The Ford Institute For Transformational Training. For more than a decade, she worked as the Event Director at Hay House, Inc. producing events and conferences focusing on self-empowerment, health, and spirituality, while weaving in her own story and poems to connect with audiences around the world.  Info: www.nancylevin.com.

Do you feel you may have past traumas that are not resolved? Do you sometimes feel emotions that surface out of the blue? Today's guest is master energy healer and shaman Deborah King who was a successful attorney in her 20s when a diagnosis of cancer sent her on a search for truth that radically changed her life. Unwilling to undergo invasive surgery, she turned to alternative medicine and had an amazing remission at the hands of a healer. Leaving the corporate arena for the mysterious world of healers, sages, and shamans, Deborah mastered ancient and modern healing systems, ultimately developing a powerful healing technique of her own. She talks about recognizing and addressing the shadows which can lurk inside all of us.  Could these inner issues be the source of disease? Deborah decided to try alternative therapies before immediately going into surgery. She was getting in touch with herself as she wasn't processing emotions. She was meditating and journalling almost constantly. She worked with many different modalities including acupuncture and therapy to assist in her healing. She then decided to go to Nepal and climb Mount Everest. Prior to her illness, she was a serious downhill skier and racer. She went looking for a spiritual experience. Deborah came upon a monastery and spent a few weeks working with the abbot there. She learned to be “in the now” and live in the present moment. She decided to leave behind her law career to study healing modalities. Through this process, she became skilled at seeing into the soul, and the shadow, to determine what's holding you back. It's usually an unconscious pattern. Deborah teaches her students to be very present. She suggests jotting down your thoughts and feelings. We usually split off from our shadow at a young age. We pretend it's not there. The key is to recognize and acknowledge. Awareness is the key to it all. You can work on it one step at a time. Meditation is extremely helpful. She also talks about preventing psychic attacks. Be very careful with what you are taking in, whether violent images or news on television. The darkness can bring us down. It's unnecessary. She asks us to consider how we are spending our time. Her latest book, “Entangled In Darkness: Seeking the Light,” explores the purpose of the age-old battle between light and dark that is being waged within you. We can all be an uplifting part of the world by bringing in the light. Every person is a light bearer. Our job is to stay inspired and shine our light! Info: DeborahKingCenter.com

Is it time to redefine the meaning of what it means to be Christian? Traditional religious institutions may be apathetic, or even corrupt, as we've seen in the Catholic priest scandals. Yet, it is possible to feel inspired and start new, according to our guest today, internationally acclaimed theologian Matthew Fox. Matthew was a member of the Dominican Order for 34 years, but then expelled for being a feminist theologian, which went against the traditional teachings. He then started his own institutions for Creative Spirituality. Today Matthew talks about how more and more people have strayed away from traditional religion. Many parents have given up on religion, so how do you teach children about morals and spirit? Matthew discusses how we can emphasize the spirituality aspect more through contemplation and action. Younger people are interested in social reform. He talks about the importance of Christian mystics ranging from Hildegard von Bingen to Meister Eckhart to Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. To recreate religion, we need to consider mysticism. Modern spiritual leaders such as Thích Nhat Hanh and the Dalai Lama are teaching about spirit. Matthew suggests considering various wisdom and studying different ranges of religions. He invites us to ask questions such as how we are related to these great beings like Jesus, Mother Mary, Buddha, or Mohammad. He discusses the intense need for connection that was formerly found though religious communities. Raves are a new way to celebrate rituals. The original purpose was to worship, so he developed the “Cosmic Mass” – a dance celebration ritual without drugs. He talks about how creativity is extremely important. We can look at the planets and stars and ask how we are connected. How can we live in awe? Matthew holds a doctorate in the History and Theology of Spirituality from the Institut Catholique de Paris. He founded the Institute in Culture and Creation Spirituality. Matthew continues to be an activist for gender justice and eco-justice. He is the author of 37 books and today he talks about his book “The Pope's War.” Info: MatthewFox.org

Does it seem like we are seeing more and more anger and rage lately? Do you or someone you know have issues with anger or managing emotions? Whether through road rage, yelling, political divide, or even outward violence, people seem more upset than ever. What's underneath it all? According to today's guest, Ian Brennan, anger masks fear, frustration, and sadness. As an author and expert in conflict resolution, today he discusses ways to help cool anger.  He has been involved with the Betty Ford Center as well as other addiction treatment places and also talks about how drug use and alcohol can compound the rage. Ian describes how some people are willing to injure themselves and others, or even willing to die, because of their unresolved anger. They may feel threatened. They may also be in denial. Many angry people deny that they are mad at all. Anger can cover up any type of fear. One way to begin to resolve the situation is to ask people how they feel. The more specific they can be, the better. An angry person tends to be more controlling, or even a perfectionist, as they want assurances. Those expectations can lead to tremendous disappointments. They may light up quickly. Surrender is a way to help – it's an acceptance of where things are. Frequent and brief conversations about emotions can help also to avoid outbreaks of rage. You can start by asking “What” questions, rather than “Why.” Begin by asking the angry person, “What happened?” then lead into “What do you feel?” When you intervene, these questions interrupt patterns. This can lead to constructive conversation and communication. It may help them to feel empowered and less controlled so they can offer information. You can also ask questions starting with “How,” such as “How can I help?” By using needs-based communication people can begin to feel heard. This can then lead to more solution-oriented conversations and help to diffuse the anger. Ian has taught classes on anger management for several decades and has brought his patented high-energy, lightning-speed delivery presentations to more than 100,000 people across the USA.  During his many years on staff in locked emergency-psychiatric facilities in Oakland, CA (the job rated as the most dangerous in CA for assault), his teachings spread by word-of-mouth until he was soon regarded as an expert on the topics of anger management, conflict resolution, solution-oriented communication, and violence prevention. In 2011 he published his first book, “Anger Antidotes: How Not to Lose Your S#&!.” Info: https://violenceprevention.us
