Long before Aric and I met, I was a fan of his improv troupe, The Mustache Rangers. This Friday (June 7, 2019) at 7:30pm at Strike Theater in Minneapolis, go see the Mustache Rangers perform during the fundraiser for Huge Theater. Aric is also a contributor to another of my favorite improv teams in town, ShowX (Monday nights at Huge Theater). Aric and Levi had me on as a guest to their podcast, Regret Labs, a couple years back: https://noisepicnic.com/our-lovely-podcasts/regretlabs/pitch-perception-podcast ... but we mostly talk about Aric's experience adopting a daughter.
Vince and Elliot McNally head west to Rand's 3rd all-time favorite town. Isle of Doves, CA, was the westernmost point in the union until Alaska and Hawaii were admitted. Rand created one of the first formal nature preserves when he discovered the small island, though he originally believed he had found a sea-route to Japan—despite still being within sight of mainland California. Isle of Doves is only inhabited by a small community of doves and dovekeepers, and the McNallys are lucky enough to sit down with one of them: Seashell Paragon (Aric McKeown).

Elliot and Vince McNally visit Hampshire, NH in this week's show. The town harbors the fugitive bloodline of American monarch King Bosco IV, and still attempts to conceal their pre-Revolution British allegiance. Talking with the travelers is local all-American shopkeep Pip Swellington (Aric McKeown).
Elliot and Vince McNally travel to Nontauk, WI this week. This once-sleepy northern Wisconsin town is now overrun by disgruntled indie musicians buying cabins and hunkering down to record their breakthrough eponymous albums. Chatting with the McNallys is folk musician Twilight Mastodon (Aric McKeown).
“Maybe there’s a way to do something that’s well established, but maybe I’m going to build my own path.” Aric McKeown is an improviser, a podcaster, and a serial creator of interesting internet projects like; Regret Labs, Mustache Rangers, Blank It, NoisePicnic, Better Strangers, Least Dangerous Game, Make Me Watch TV, Your Notness, and Feeding Objects. On the fourth episode of Cold Read season 2, Aric reveals why his voice is so so sexy, Jane explores the world of cartoon weaponry, and Sid gets take out. Also, Gubby plays Jeff as Jeff is replaced by Walker Martin (for this episode, at least). We hope you like Ansel Adams! He makes books that only […] The post S2E4 | Aric McKeown, Jane White, Sidney Oxborough | Cold Read appeared first on NoisePicnic Podcast Network.
In the second episode of the Regret Labs podcast, hosts Aric McKeown and Levi Weinhagen speak with Matt Kuzma about physics. And Back to the Future 3. But mostly about physics. Particles of light, the inverse square law, and what your eyes and ears do with the waves that interact with them are all gone over with a wide tooth comb. The post Physics | Regret Labs: Episode 2 appeared first on NoisePicnic Podcast Network.
This second episode of Buzzedwords features Aric McKeown discussing improv comedy, and Kaeti Hinck discussing online news. Along the way, our host Jeff also gets our experts to discuss the magic of the internet, the appropriate spelling of theater/theatre, their favorite medical dramas, whether socks should match the pant or the shoe, and the qualities, […]

Improvisers Hannah Kuhlmann and Aric McKeown join Joseph for a spooktacular episode of obsessive Ghost Stories. You’ll be terrified, amused, and terri-mused by tales of Dairy Queen Blood Man, City Hall Star Wars Ghost, Drug-Doing Kim, masturbating in the soup … Continue reading →
Aric McKeown, Desiree Fernandez, Kaeti Hinck, John Heimbuch, and Art Allen join Mike for a conversation about home ownership, repairs and the wonders of Home Depot. Listen in for a funny and frank discussion of why it’s horrible to own a home.

Welcome to Epi30 of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast! We're back to having a bunch of clips this time around — what I like to think of as "Succotash Prime" — and a couple of other things besides. Caleb Medley Kicking off with a serious note here on the blogside of things, I wanted to do what we could as listeners, podcasters, comedians and friends, to help out Caleb Medley and his family. Just one of the tragic stories to emerge from the Dark Knight Rises massacre on July 20th in Aurora, Colorado, Caleb is a young up-and-coming standup comedian from the Denver area and was at the movie with his wife Katie. He got shot in the eye and is in critical condition as I write this. He has yet to see the face of his new son, born the day following the tragedy. Comedians are already rallying (as well as many others) to raise funds to help cover the cost of what is going to be an expensive recovery. If you'd like to help, you can click here to Support Caleb online OR mail a check to: Support Caleb Medley c/o Canon National Bank 401 East Main Street Florence, CO 81226 During this episode, I play a call that came into our Succotash Hotline from comedian/actor/friend-of-the-show Rick Overton, who asks for your help with much-needed support for Caleb. Here's what's in store for you during Epi 30, clipwise and more! My Crappy Week My Crappy Week is a new daily podcast coming from comedian Orny Adams and his guests, who have been all fellow comedians so far. The shortish episodes (20 minutes or less) make for a fun listen that’s easy to squeeze in during the drive to work or wherever. Doug Loves Movies I’m so glad that Doug Benson gave us the nod to let us feature clips from his show. (We had a bit of a twitter squabble about it early on in Succotash's early days...) It’s a damned funny show, even when things go horribly, horribly wrong. Jeff Garland, TJ Miller and Pete Holmes were the guests and they just can’t stop being…themselves. 4 AM Cab We've got a clip from a new “a dark comedy sketch show" podcast from Britain called 4 AM Cab. Hosts Lee Wilson and Rachel Wheeley have an open-door policy for writers and they invite all comers to send in scripts for consideration. The Selling It’s no secret that I like helping my friends out who decide that Kickstarter.com can help them out. The latest campaign to catch my eye is the one from pals Gabriel Diani and Etta Devine. They produced a horror movie spoof called The Selling, about a real estate agent trying to unload a haunted house. It came out last year and has been making the film festival circuit. Which is great but they’d love to let regular folk see it. I have, and I reviewed it when it debuted and that’s up on Huffington Post. So they want to get the film into some theaters, which means they have to pay to rent those movie houses. During this episode, I caught up with then on Skype to find out more about it. And in case their words aren't enough to sway you to add to their Kickstarter fund, here's a plea from The Selling guest star Barry Bostwick... Where was I? Oh, right…clips! The DHead Factor I was invited to co-host epi44 of The DHead Factor, which is harder than it sounds considering host Jason "Jabs" McNamara is in Canberra, Australia and I'm in San Francisco, USA. Different time zones, different seasons, but we managed to pull off over an hour of podcast shenanigans. You can hear a slice of the magic on Succotash this episode! Dylan Brody’s Neighbor’s Couch Darren Staley’s “Comedy on a cushion” takes place live via Blogcast Radio every week and he's been getting some cool guests, such as Andy Kindler. It's a little embarrassing how gushy DS gets at one point what AK and he get into a chat about Twitter. Not that I wouldn't do the same thing if Kindler started following @SuccotashShow... The Brit And The American The Brit And The American is a couple – Thomas Moore and Alba Lewis – who tag themselves as “the posh Brit and the redneck American”. This new show is a chatty, observational style of commentary about the pair and their travels from their very different perspectives. Cinematic Method I’ve featured the guys from Cinematic Method before and I love what they do. Reviews. But not movie reviews. Movie TRAILER reviews. That’s right. They watch trailers, try to figure out what the movie is about, then guess what the movie’s score on Rotten Tomatoes will be. Inspired. But in between the trailer trashing, they talk about other stuff… The Man Cave Podcast If you like podcasts that feature chats with porn stars, there are a number of them. But The Man Cave podcast also covers sports, comic books, beer…pretty much anything that could count as furnishing in a true man cave. Jeff and Bobby, your hosts, sent along a snippet from their talk with “reformed” porn star Bree Olson, which chats about going legit in Hollywood. (They're not just on iTunes, BTW: They also livestream on Ustream every Thursday night at 9 PM!) Epic Rant Radio Celebrating their one-year-anniversary of podcasting this week, Epic Rant has been on my radar for a while but haven’t had a chance to feature a clip until…well, they sent one in. I'm not a sports guy and so I’m not really sure what they’re talking about here. Guys fighting, maybe? Anyay, check ‘em out all this week and wish ‘em a happy anniversary! Mustache Rangers SPECIAL FEATURE! This is not a clip of The Mustache Rangers - it's a whole show! And a great moment for Succotash. Aric McKeown and Corey Anderson had put out a call for podcasters to send in clips from their shows that they could then use as springboards for the improvised MR episodes. I sent them one of our Henderson's Pants ads. So sit back, relax, and listen to what these guys did with it. Will Durst Back from his short writing sabbatical comes raging moderate, Succotash’s Ambassador to the Middle, it’s Will Durst with his Burst O’ Durst. In his sights this time: Mitt Romney and the Bain of his existence. Whew! That's a lot of podcast for the money. Speaking of which, if you'd like to help us to offset production costs so that we can keep bringing you the finest buffet of podcastery that the internet has to offer, just click the Donate button in the upper right area of our homepage. We'll take whatever you can give and we'll even thank you during an upcoming episode of Succotash for your trouble! Until next time, please remember to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
We're back in Studio P in Sausalito for Epi27, which means the show always sounds better and I certainly feel better when engineer/producer Joe Paulino is pushing the buttons and flipping the switches. PLUS it gives us the chance for another Boozin' With Bill segment, where our loyal booth announcer Bill Haywatt shares a libation with us that he picked up somewhere during his illustrious (some might say spotty) career in radio. Unfortunately, Bill's drink this time – Barbecue Punch – turns out to be a dreadful cautionary tale. I'm reproducing the formula here but be warned: This drink is not for the timid, smart or sane. Hideous beverage aside, it's a fast-paced episode, with a bunch of clips, a dip into the TweetSack, our Burst O' Durst, and a brand new Henderson's Pants spot for their newest line, The Drifter Chino. Musically, I found a fun little ditty called Incompetent's Lament by Paul & Storm, a duo that has cranked out a lot of comedy tunes, much of which is available via their website. They also have their own podcast, Paul and Storm Talk About Some Stuff for Five to Ten Minutes (On Average), so click over and give 'em a listen. Here's what's in the lineup this time: Comedy Bang Bang This is the week that CBB host Scott Aukerman brings his podcast to television. (Starts Friday, June 8, on IFC.) Our cut is from a recent audio version of the show, featuring comedian guests Sara Silverman and Kyle Dunnigan, who spend some time dissecting one of Sarah’s first TV roles – playing a scientist on Star Trek Voyager. The Gentleman’s Club Comic Caleb Bacon runs The Gentleman’s Club: Part comedy, part sports, part strippers and strippers’ parts. In this clip, Caleb’s talking to a “Vegas insider”, Rodric Bradford, about something everyone going to Sin City is looking for – indoor skydiving. How Was Your Week? Julie Klausner with Eddie Pepitone Comedy writer/performer, podcaster, and author Julie Klausner hosts How Was Your Week, which was recently named one of the best comedy podcasts by the New York Times, Rolling Stone & GQ. In the clip we have, she gets into the touchy subject of panic attacks with the Bitter Buddha himself, Eddie Pepitone. Too Heavy To Skydive THTS is a big ol’ roundtable chat show with a great title. Hosts Matt, Alex, Erik, Fred, Neil, and Tim talk about news, sports, pop culture, movies, and…porn. But at least it's tasteful, sharing AND ecological porn. Check out their many segments, contributors and other stuff. Murphy’s Law & The Mercenaries Shane Murphy, Neil Mercener and Geoff Jewel host one of podcasting's “shootin’ the shit” show – a bunch of guys sitting around and talking about whatever’s going on. Nothing wrong with that, and it's nice to see these guys have differences of opinion about some of the subjects they talk about. Mustache Rangers Podcasts don't have to be long to be funny and entertaining. A number of the shows I don't pick clips from could take that lesson from The Mustache Rangers. The improvised episodes are short and clever, as performed by Corey Anderson and Aric McKeown. Local favorites of the Twin Cities, the show was named Best Podcast of 2011 by Mpls St Paul magazine. Note: They have a live version of The Mustache Rangers coming up on June 21st at the Twin Cities Improv Festival. Nobody Likes Onions Patrick Melton with Ryan Stout Comedian and podcast pioneer Patrick Melton has one of the longest running podcasts around. Nobody Likes Onions started back in 2005. For his seventh anniversary, he has comedian Ryan Stout in the studio where, in this clip, Patrick reveals that he used to steal vans and sell waffles out of them. Hey, me too! Sklarbro County As brother Randy & Jason Sklar near Episode 100 of their popular podcast Sklarbro Country, their listeners are clamoring for more than one show a week. Here's their answer: Take the "r" out of Country. Shorter, easier to produce, with more timely, time-sensitive sports stories. We wrap up Epi27 with a Burst O’ Durst, in which our Ambassador to the Middle, political wit Will Durst talks about Mitt Romney’s lack of discernible position on…anything. — Marc Hershon
Didn't do enough digging. So I learned more than I did research. Aric McKeown is a man of many things.
