Send us a textA great comeback story always resonates, especially when it involves a band that's caught the attention of prominent music outlets like Revolver Magazine, who dubbed them a “Band You Need to Know.” Meet Gore, a breakthrough four-piece metalcore outfit from Houston, Texas, and their dynamic frontwoman, Haley Roughton. In this episode, Haley opens up about the journey that led to the formation of Gore and the unique chemistry she found with bandmates Alex Reyes and Devin Birchfield —a connection she describes as unparalleled. This synergy laid the foundation for their debut EP, A Bud That Never Blooms, a ferocious and emotionally raw offering that has left listeners craving more. The five-track release is a testament to their dedication, crafted with the support of a production team that ensured every note and lyric carried heartfelt intensity. But it also starts with Haley's unique musical influences, which more than paved the way in the writing process for this record. While many bands take years and multiple albums to define their sound, Gore has achieved this feat in just five songs. Haley reflects on this ascent and hints at what's next for the group as they prepare to tackle 2025 with new music, appearances at major festivals, and even greater ambitions. This conversation with Haley is as much about personal resilience as it is about Gore's rise—a story you'll want to hear taking place both on and off the stage. This week, we're scratching The Itch for DOOMSDAY! The (mostly) Texas-based GORE. is one of the most exciting new bands in the metal world, and we were thrilled to speak with guitarist Alex King and bassist Devin Birchfield about their debut EP, A Bud That Never Blooms, out October 25th on Spinefarm Records. The fellas recount how they connected to frontwoman (and NASA engineer) Haley Roughton, their excitement about what's already next on the horizon, and the "emotional gore" that leads them to suspect that if their music isn't making you cry, they're not doing their job. Plus, of course, some major music nerdery in the Burning Questions section. These guys are going to the moon, so join us for lift off before their EP launches them to stardom. Bloodsuckers forever. Saint Agnes forever. Across the pond we go, and enter the new age of punk music, a passion unmatched from the quartet called Saint Agnes. We are joined by frontwoman Kitty Austen and guitarist Jon Tufnell in today's edition of IUF. Almost a decade into the frey of existence, Kitty and Jon talk about the early days of the band, clocking in over 200 divebar and squat shows across the UK & Europe, before getting picked up by Spinefarm Records. As the recognition grew, so did their touring resume, performing on revered festivals such as Download, Isle Of Wright, and 2000 Trees to name a few. There's a sense of humbleness within their character, but Kitty and Jon are forever grateful to be in this position, and quite possibly, also now in their most important chapter in their lives, personally and musically. The new album, “Bloodsuckers” showcases the best of their talents and abilities, which has them picking up steam with other music outlets at the same time. Dante Bonutto heads up the UK A&R department of Spinefarm Records, home to favourites of this podcast like Rammstein, Crown Lands, Kid Kapichi, Sleep Token, Anti-Flag, Creeper… I could go on. Basically, if a rock band are doing something interesting right now, they're probably signed to Spinefarm. But before he ended up in the big seat of the aforementioned, Dante served his time in music journalism, during the golden age of Kerrang! magazine. Then he founded RAW magazine. His is a life lived loud. He's also my favourite person to talk about Warren Zevon with on email on a Friday afternoon. Plenty to get into then!Watch this episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvOkJBvBLBM&t=21s Twitter - @jamesjammcmahon Substack - https://spoook.substack.com YouTube - www.youtube.com/channel/UC8Vf_1E1Sza2GUyFNn2zFMA Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/jamesmcmahonmusicpod/

I Did It Again", una versión de la cantante pop Britney Spears.

Ahead of their third studio album, Stone Broken chats with Haulix about the secret to successful rock promotion in 2022. Let's face it: The rock marketplace is in a weird place. Never in the history of the genre have there been so many artists with countless unique takes on rock competing for the finite attention of listeners. It is both the best and worst of times because you can never listen to everything worth hearing, but that's not even the worst part. Before worrying about scaling the rock hierarchy, artists must first find a marketing angle that works. Marketing is everything. That has always been the case, but it feels more important than ever in 2022. The demand for consumer attention is endless, and your budget for fighting alongside every IP and musician on Earth is limited. You have to find a path to success that doesn't waste time or break the bank, and you have to do so while also attempting to make the best music of your career. Not that there is any pressure or anything. The amount of great rock music available now vastly outnumbers the finite amount of time listeners have to experience it. The only way forward is through finding your audience and catering to them. It's not an easy feat to accomplish, but one that is well worth the effort. In the latest Fast Five interview, Music Biz host James Shotwell chats with UK rock band Stone Broken about how a constantly shifting marketing strategy has led to long-term success. The band's third studio album, Revelation, arrives on April 15, 2022, through Spinefarm Records. Music Biz is brought to you by Haulix, the music industry's leading promotional distribution platform. It's been ages since I last spoke to Justine Jones, chief throat shredder in Woking's Employed To Serve – which is a bit of an understatement really, ETS might just be the best home grown rock band to tread the boards of British music venues today. Justine is also the label boss at Church Road Records. I reckon it's got to be almost two years since we last conversed, and… well, a lot has happened in those two years. Having a natter is much overdue, the band have got a new record – their fourth, Conquering, is due to be released on September 17th via Spinefarm Records - and so this conversation takes place on a bizarrely hot Autumn Day. Apologies for the low level banging and clanging on this episode. I think Castle Spoook might have awoken a spirit or something – or maybe I just need to do something about the mic I'm currently using. The James McMahon Music Podcast is a Spoook Media production. Spoook is also a record label, a promoter, a shop, a Substack - it's many things. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter. Riding high on the success of his band's debut album, Dead Poet Society's Jack Underkofler talks all things promotion on Inside Music. The music industry at large is trying incredibly hard to ignore the reality of the present day. The world is changing faster than ever, and the methods of promotion that worked as recently as early 2020 are no longer reliable. We live in a new world that demands creative thinking that, frankly, many seem too afraid or too insecure to attempt. But the fact remains that people still want new music, and many are hoping to discover the next song or artist that can change their lives. The musicians and labels willing to try anything to reach those curious listeners are in a position for massive success, and Dead Poet Society is doing everything they can to seize the moment. -!-, Dead Poet Society's Spinefarm Records debut album, hit stores in February 2021. The alt-rock release serves as the culmination of nearly a decade spent writing, recording, touring, and grinding as hard as anyone can to make the band's name known. Its existence is a testament to what happens when people fully commit to their craft, and it's quickly turning heads throughout the rock community while other acts sit on the industry sidelines. In this episode of Inside Music, Dead Poet Society's Jack Underkofler chats with James Shotwell about the journey behind -!-. He recounts how a fan in Mexico gave the band an international stage and how a move from Boston to Los Angeles put the group in a position to reach mainstream success.
