Speed Dealer Moms are John Frusciante, probably best known as the guitar player from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Aaron Funk, aka Venetian Snares, a producer who defies your 4/4 time signatures in the name of brilliantly experimental electronic sounds. In what was their first ever joint interview, I spoke to John and Aaron about listening to music differently, 16-hour jams, friendship in music, actual speed dealer moms, jungle, Bangface and so much more. I think this interview is really a bit special so I do hope you enjoy it. PS The excellent new Speed Dealer Moms single, Birth Control Pill, is out Friday May 10.

Today we are joined by the wonderful, the amazing, DJ Keyliac. We discuss the magic and maladies of Bangface. Including but not limited to the incredible music, but also incredible injustice experienced by many of the artists (skip to 1hr to hear about injustice) Once again, a very intellectual chat had by all with suitable heaters drizzled throughout.

In the second and final part of ROAR: The ‘90s Rave Podcast’s interview with MARK ARCHER, the ALTERN 8, BIZARRE INC and NEXUS 21 producer talks candidly about the highs and lows of his long career in the music business, including becoming a Top of the Pops star, the painful split from production partner Chris Peat, getting hitched onstage at BangFace, and his financial struggles over the years that have seen him lose his home on more than one occasion.  Plus the man behind the famous dust mask also addresses apparent beef with The Prodigy and scratches his head at how he’s somehow *NOT* managed to become minted during the Covid-19 PPE goldrush! And in the next few days we will bring you an exclusive ROAR '92/93 breakbeat hardcore mix put together by the man himself - keep your peepers peeled for that one! Then join us next week for one of the most amazing and unlikely success stories you’ll ever hear from the ‘90s rave scene in our DJ Footloose episode, from Badbody to Barrister, before we drop the much-anticipated MC Magika interview where he tackles (among other things) race and racism in the rave scene, working with Carl Cox, and Gary Jaques’ version of his departure from Vibealite. ------- ** DONATE ** Help us fund future episodes by donating to our crowdfunder: www.gofundme.com/f/the90sravepodcast ------ #jungle #jungletechno #breakbeat #drumandbass #dnb #oldschoolhardcore #oldschool #rave #90smusic #raving #music #techno #happyhardcore #hardcorebreakbeat #housemusic #breakbeat #breakbeathardcore #the90s #1990s #90s #the1990s #acidhouse #hardcoretechno #hardtrance #dj #producer #covid #altern8 #ppe #theprodigy #topofthepops #carlcox

In the 60th edition of the Rhythm podcast, meet Ricky Force with an exclusive guest mix! Based in Dublin, Ireland, Ricky Force started out on his musical path with the Bassbin crew, playing on legendary pirate radio station Power FM in the late '90s. Taking his cue from the golden era of Jungle and early Drum n Bass, Ricky spent years honing his skills, first on the decks, and then as a producer, but throughout, he stayed true to his passion for chopped-up rolling rhythms, and for the deepest of subs. Moving to London in the early 2000's, Ricky lived with old friend Fracture, sharing a house previously occupied by Alix Perez and Rockwell. There, surrounded by a new generation of talent, Ricky focused on his production, taking the opportunity to learn and grow as a producer. Since then, he has gone from strength to strength, crafting his music into what is now a very distinctive style - a sound for which he is gaining increasing recognition worldwide. Starting off with releases on DSCi4 and 36 Hertz, Ricky has by now notched up more than 20 vinyl releases for original old skool Jungle labels like AKO Recordings, Flex Records, Skeleton Recordings, and the mighty Reinforced - alongside their spiritual descendants at labels like Criterion and Repertoire. Meanwhile Ricky also continues to issue quality jams on his own label Pressin' Hard Records, which has made these limited edition cuts 'buy-on-sight' for connoisseurs of that original Jungle sound. And with support from such luminaries as Randall, Ray Keith, Scar, DJ Stretch, Mark Pritchard and Om Unit, you know that Ricky's tunes are guaranteed quality. Behind the decks, Ricky's love of the music is evident in the care he takes to craft and deliver a set. Time and again, he's ripped the roof off parties across Europe and the USA: from Boomtown to Bangface, and from Rupture in London to Respect in L.A. Most recently, he rinsed it out at the Skeleton Vs. Repertoire night in London. A Ricky Force set always delivers a sweet mix of brand new cuts with timeless classics, bolstered by a few choice esoteric selections guaranteed to make even those who know their tunes scratch their heads. But this is no old skool trainspotting exercise - a Ricky Force set is all about the dance, and Ricky never fails to bring the energy. www.pressinhardrecords.com http://soundcloud.com/rickyforce

‘ON THE RAVE with Addie and Gav’ presents #HardcoreHistories   Expect everything from amen breaks to zebracore!  In each show we ask our guests to pick 11 songs from 10 different stages of their musical history - meaning they can play a 'WILD CARD' pick 2 tracks to represent one category and just one single tune for each of the remaining categories...  In this episode, #2 and our second show, we discuss the tracks selected by co-host Gav Hi-Viz (@gavhiviz) Gav, or M.C. Hi-Viz, is a Jungle / D’n’B MC who has been gigging in Newcastle for around 15 years. Mouth-piece on the mic and a proud geordie, Gav has spat for a whole host of the UK’s top names when they have visited the Toon, including Remarc, Bizzy B and Mark Archer (Altern-8), as well as smashing Bangface with co-host Addie UEP… = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = A NOTE ABOUT FAIR USE; 'ON THE RAVE with Addie and Gav' was designed and conceived as an educational podcast. Our goal is to share the musical background of our guests and hopefully educate, as well as encouraging people listen to and discover new music and make comments and start debate about the music choices made by our guest.
