Pastor Andy Cass Pastor dives into Colossians 3 and explores the theme of thankfulness, reminding us to "look up and live up" as God's chosen people. Through scripture, stories, and practical applications, we are encouraged to embrace gratitude, even in life's challenges, and to turn back in thanks to move forward. TEXT: Colossians 3:12, Colossians 3:15, Genesis 12:2-3, Genesis 18:18, Genesis 22:17-18, Genesis 26:4, Luke 17:11-17 NOTES: Truth: You are blessed, highly favored, loved, and seen by God. BIG IDEA: Being thankful is more than just a thought; it's about turning back in gratitude so that you can move forward. The 'what' you have in your hands should never replace the 'who' gave it to you. There is power in the practice of thankfulness: See it, say it, share it. It's never too late to say thank you.

What would happen if you dared to forget about all your thoughts and feelings about “HER” and focused on the fact that God remembers you. Because ultimately- in our struggle of “Why Her” – it has less to do with who “she” is and what “she” has- and more to do with- TRUSTING God to be who HE is and do what HE Says HE WILL DO. If I really trust Him, if I really want to build my life on Him, if I really want to find contentment, if I really want to live fully in all that He has purposed for me then- I MUST be more like Jesus and less like HER. Jesus was asked to sum up all of the commandments in the Bible with the single greatest command. His response was: Love God with your whole self. So why does it seem so scandalous to live out the command to love God? Contrary to what you might think, the topic of loving God is one of the most neglected ideas in modern Christianity. BIG IDEA: Being in love with God is better than just believing in God.

The Big Idea: Being a Christian is not a belief system, it is a transformational way of being you.Christianity is an “EXISTENTIAL” thing. We all know about “BORN AGAIN.”John 3:1-8Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish rulingcouncil. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who hascome from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are bornagain.”4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot entera second time into their mother's womb to be born!”5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they areborn of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 Youshould not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.' 8 The wind blows wherever itpleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it iswith everyone born of the Spirit.”1 Corinthians 10:1-23For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were allunder the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. 2 They were all baptized into Moses inthe cloud and in the sea. 3 They all ate the same spiritual food 4 and drank the same spiritualdrink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. 5Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in thewilderness.6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things asthey did. 7 Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down toeat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.” 8 We should not commit sexual immorality, assome of them did—and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died. 9 We should not testChrist, as some of them did—and were killed by snakes. 10 And do not grumble, as some ofthem did—and were killed by the destroying angel.11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, onwhom the culmination of the ages has come. 12 So, if you think you are standing firm, becareful that you don't fall! 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common tomankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. Butwhen you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.14 Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak to sensible people; judge foryourselves what I say. 16 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participationin the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?17 Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.18 Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? 19Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20 No, butthe sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to beparticipants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too;you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. 22 Are we trying toarouse the Lord's jealousy? Are we stronger than he?Galatians 2:20I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live inthe body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Jeff Maness – April 19, 2020 In times of trouble, many people begin to question whether this is the end of the world. In this message, we’re going to see how being ready for the end is much more important than knowing when it will come. Is This The End? Mark 13:32-33 32 “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. 33 And since you don't know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!” Big Idea: Being ready for the end is much more important than knowing when it will come. Big Question: What should we know to be ready for the end? Main Scripture: Matthew 24:1-14 Matthew 24:1-3 1 As Jesus was leaving the Temple grounds, his disciples pointed out to him the various Temple buildings. 2 But he responded, “Do you see all these buildings? I tell you the truth, they will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!” 3 Later, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives. His disciples came to him privately and said, “Tell us, when will all this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?” 1. The problems will increase Matthew 24:4-8 4 Jesus told them, “Don't let anyone mislead you, 5 for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah.' They will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and threats of wars, but don't panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won't follow immediately. 7 Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in many parts of the world. (In Luke 21:11 Jesus is recorded saying, “…and plagues in many lands”) 8 But all this is only the first of the birth pains, with more to come. Hebrews 10:12-13 12 But our High Priest (Jesus) offered himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down in the place of honor at God's right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled and made a footstool under his feet. Matthew 24:9 9 “Then you will be arrested, persecuted, and killed. You will be hated all over the world because you are my followers. 2. Persecution will come Matthew 24:10-13 10 And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. 11 And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. 12 Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 3. Perseverance is required Romans 5:3-5 3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. James 1:2-4 2 Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.

Big Idea: Being the church in your home means being willing to put the needs of other people even above your own rest when you most want it, and even when it’s terribly inconvenient. Sometimes it’s easier to plan to serve at a soup kitchen or go on a mission trip. Our homes are intimate, and where we go to escape the burdens of the world–which, if we aren’t careful, makes them into barricaded environments that allow us to reject the call to serve Christ always, in every place, and in every situation. Serve your family and your guests with the understanding that teaching and modeling the comfort found in redemption allows them the chance to experience God’s comfort for themselves.
