TV Smith joins Nate to discuss the 50th anniversary of The Adverts, an Australian tour backed by The Hard-Ons, and a career full of great songs and terrible label luck. Topics Include: TV Smith is touring Australia in April with The Hard-Ons. The tour celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Adverts. The Hard-Ons are already learning the surprisingly complex Adverts songs. TV finds it odd but joyful to still be performing. He got back into vinyl to quality-check his own releases. Bowie, Roxy Music, and reggae were key early influences for TV. The Sex Pistols made TV believe he could actually do this. The Roxy Club punk scene started with just 30 people. Brian James of The Damned personally recommended The Adverts to Stiff. They recorded One Chord Wonders in a single afternoon at Pathway. Stiff misspelled the title and controversially centred Gaye Advert on the cover. Gary Gilmore's Eyes was TV's satirical response to exploitative media coverage. The BBC was deeply reluctant to air Gary Gilmore's Eyes on TV. Anchor Records collapsed mid-momentum, leaving The Adverts suddenly without a label. Crossing the Red Sea was recorded at Abbey Road with John Leckie. Gary Gilmore's Eyes was left off the album deliberately — vinyl runtime constraints. RCA signed them against their own A&R team's wishes — chaos followed. Cast of Thousands suffered a botched mix, a terrible cover, label indifference. Channel 5 was finally properly remastered after the producer found a safety tape. TV is bringing vinyl to the merch table — especially the Handwriting LP. Road Trip After Hours w/ WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long and Host Mac Davis
Road Dogg is out of WWE, and that one headline opens up a much bigger conversation about power, trust, and whether WWE creative is keeping up with the fans who watch every week. I'm joined by WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long to talk about what Brian James meant backstage, why he's always been respected as a straight shooter, and what it says when a veteran mind decides it's time to step away. From there we get into the push and pull of modern sports entertainment. We talk Chelsea Green, the “old guard” mindset, and the ongoing debate about who should be writing wrestling storylines. Does a lead writer need in-ring experience, or can someone learn the business well enough from the outside to book great TV? Teddy gives a grounded perspective from decades in the locker room, where the difference between fantasy and believable wrestling psychology is obvious fast. Then we hit a topic every WrestleMania traveler is arguing about right now: WWE World pricing. We break down the shocking entry fee and the photo op numbers that have fans doing double takes, and we ask the real question, are average fans getting priced out of the very culture they built? We wrap with mailbag questions and classic road stories, including who was toughest to work with and why certain match styles made talent nervous.Subscribe for more honest wrestling talk, share this with a friend who's fed up with modern pricing, and leave us a review telling us your limit: what's the most you'd ever pay for a photo or autograph?Send us Fan Mail

I always love when tracks show up just hours before the show, and that’s what happened with this all-covers episode. As I’ve said many times before, I have a folder on my laptop where I toss in new cover tunes whenever I come across them. When the folder is full, that’s when it’s time for a show. That’s exactly what happened, this time around. With this week’s release of the new album by The Damned where they remake tracks that the recently deceased Brian James loved, I saw the following post on Instagram: “Fret Rattles are excited to announce the release of our third full-length studio LP, titled “As the World Falls Apart.” It features thirteen tracks and comes in at the furious pace of 36 minutes. The LP was recorded in 2024 and 2025 at Flowers Studio (Minneapolis, MN) and Ecstattic Studio (St. Paul, MN) by our long-time producer Ali Jaafar.” A tracklist accompanied the post that indicated the new album was going to include two cover tunes, so I immediately sent a DM to requst their inclusion in tonight’s broadcast. They agreed, and in the early afternoon I received an email that included their explosive cover of “What […]

Brian James Daly, somatic healer, men's team leader, and addiction coach, shares his Process journey and his following journey of embodiment. Embodiment is where it's at for Brian. He calls it the ground game because it took him deep into himself to see those parts of himself that he'd been carrying hidden for so long. And once seen, they can be integrated and somatically expressed. Brian shares that where he came from, "everything looked really good on the outside." Often, it is hard to comprehend that people from a good-looking life can have traumatic experiences. When he arrived at the Process, he realized he felt out of place because others in his class had seemingly experienced greater trauma. Brian's teacher helped him see that he did, too, but that Brian was never able to acknowledge and own it. When Brian was young, he kept everything inside but wore a mask that told the world he was okay. His escape was going into creative realms through writing and creating his own reality. During and after Brian's Process, he followed the ground game that brought him back into his body. This journey of embodiment helped him reconnect with parts of himself he had lost and learn to express those parts in a creative way. Now, after years of full-time transformation work, he can express his true nature in the world without needing to escape. He's being who he truly is, doing what comes from that embodiment, to have what his Spiritual Self has designed. This mirrors the Be-Do-Have practice he learned at his Process. Listen in as Brian shares many powerful experiences of his journey. We hope you enjoy this inspiring conversation with Brian and Sadie. More about Brian James Daly: Brian James Daly is a guide and leader devoted to helping people break free from limiting patterns and beliefs to find authenticity, purpose, and freedom. After two decades in the entertainment industry as a successful entrepreneur and award-winning creative and seven years in a think tank focused on systemic transformation in education and health, Brian felt called to bring his lifelong journey in wellness and spirituality to others ready to live lives beyond their dreams. Brian is a trained somatic healer, men's team leader, addiction coach, retreat facilitator, writer, and speaker. With a grounded and spiritual presence, Brian creates safe spaces for deep healing and personal awakening. He says every engagement is unique, and that you should reach out if you'd like to learn more. Discover more about Brian at brianjamesdaly.com and follow him on Instagram. This week we're discussing every album by The Damned from 1977 to 1986. Pioneers of punk (and goth to a degree), The Damned are a band more talented and even more insane than most others. They defined the chaos of first generation punk in the late 70s, yet still managed to put out some of the most legendary albums of the era. Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Rat Scabies, and Brian James, before his departure, left a legacy filled with speed, booze, and countless memorable riffs.
