Canon J. John, Easter Sunday, 31 March 2024
Many of our children and teens will ask big questions about God, faith and the church at some point in their childhood. Some of our kids ask 100 questions a day, every day! How should we answer these questions? How can we help our kids seek Jesus through their questions? Here to help us think through how we approach these questions is none other than Canon J.John: an experienced evangelist, minister, speaker, broadcaster and writer of over four decades. In particular, J.John's book ‘That's a Good Question!' helps children think through some of the most common questions about faith. Canon J.John lives near London with his wife Killy, and is a dad and a grandad. In the account of John 11 where Jesus comes before the tomb of Lazarus, Canon J. John illustrates four simple yet powerful responses that is presented to each of us – to remove, respond, release or reveal. Is God asking you to remove the stone that stands between you and Jesus? Is He waiting for your response to His command? Are you still wearing grave clothes that you need to release? And what are you to reveal to others through His work in your life? It's time to wake up your Lazarus!

Bold, confident, yet natural. No, we are not talking about makeup, furniture, or dating advice. We're talking about evangelism. There's seems to be this golden combination of boldness, confidence, yet naturalness, humanity, humility, simplicity, that makes for really effective evangelism, no matter the personality type or tradition a Christian is formed in. This kind of evangelism does not require you to either have a degree in theology or to apply the kind of cringe-worthy strategies you wouldn't want to be on receiving end of. So what makes for confident, bold, but really natural evangelism? The kind that doesn't require that you turn into someone else, but does require that, at least once in a while, you get out of your comfort zone? And what's the difference between an evangelistic vocation and the witness all Christians are called to? We'll hear more about all this today from two experts in the field: Canon J John is a Church of England priest and evangelist with over 40 years' experience. J John runs an organization called Philo Trust, which equips and mentors Christians to be more effective evangelists from where they are. Guiding the conversation is Canon Carrie Boren Headington. Carrie is canon for evangelism for the Diocese of Dallas and founder of the Good News Initiative. She is also consulting evangelist for revivals for the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church and adjunct professor of evangelism at Fuller Seminary. Now sit back, relax, but definitely stay alert. You hear a challenge today. It's a good one. What a great first week we had! This episode we are hoping will be no different! In #2, Joey and Ben meet to discuss one of the biggest questions of their friendship, the best Meal Deal... We also take some time to look at and discuss a video between Canon J. John and Mike Pilavachi where they share some incredible wisdom. We also take a minute to discuss the complexities of placing all our hopes as the church on the next generation (no, it wasn't a Star Trek reference). This episode is slightly different from #1 as it was actually recorded before it and without our wonderful Northern counterpart, Jordan. Initially we set out to test a few things and never release this episode, but we really enjoyed recording it and we felt there was something here worth sharing. New episodes every two weeks and we may even be running a competition with the next one so make sure you keep an eye on our social media platforms: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/anotherchristianpoddy/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/AC_Poddy

Sunday sermons from Church Unlimited.
The delightful and humorous Canon J. John shows us how more often than not we need to look up to see that God is readily there. He says that we all have times of crisis, even if we don't admit it, and the answer is to always look towards God. We must be humble and understand He is the one who has foresight and insight. We need to look around to see how we are dealing with other people to also gain a better perspective of life in God's kingdom.
Evangelism is a word that scares both Christians and Non-Christians. Yet it is a non-negotiable part of what it means to be the Church. This sermon explores the reasons why we need to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who are "harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd". It is part 1 of a 6 part series on Natural Evangelism, based on the book of the same name by Canon J. John. It was preached on Sunday 16 September at the English service of the Church of the Good Shepherd
Guest speaker, Canon J John powerfully (and hilariously) unpacks what it means to be a Christian, and extends a compelling invitation to receive the gift of salvation in his message.
Join us for Resurrection Sunday as we have our special guest speaker Canon J. John speak to us about the magnificence of Jesus' resurrection.
