In part 2 of our ChristMÁS series, we unpack how to not miss Christmas by stop overstuffing my life, LOOK closely at why Jesus came, and LISTEN to the Good News!
In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl continues the series The King Has Come with a raw and life-giving exploration of the second great gift Jesus brings: peace.Turning to the familiar yet profound scene in Luke 2:8–20, Pastor Karl invites us into the midnight terror of ordinary shepherds—suddenly confronted by the blinding glory of God—and shows how the very first words from heaven that night were not “Merry Christmas,” but “Fear not.” That first Christmas did not begin with sentimental calm; it began with paralyzing, mega-fear. And right there, in the middle of stacked-on-stacked fear, the angel announced good news of great joy: a Savior has been born who is Christ the Lord, the Prince of Peace. With pastoral tenderness and unflinching honesty, Pastor Karl unmasks fear as the mortal enemy of peace—how it magnifies threats, shrinks our view of God, and paints our future in colors darker than God ever intended. Yet the gospel is stronger: peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of a Person. Peace is not something Jesus gives; peace is who Jesus is—and He gives Himself.Through the shepherds' journey from terror to testimony, we're given clear, scriptural paths out of fear and into the unshakable peace of Christ: speaking God's truth over fear's lies, refusing to agree with the spirit of fear, drawing near to Jesus through spiritual disciplines, and taking bold steps of obedience that move us against comfort and toward surrender. This is a word for everyone whose heart has been ruled by anxiety, worst-case scenarios, or the quiet fears that steal joy—especially in this season. A tender yet urgent call to stop trusting the unknown future to our own control and start trusting it to the known God who entered our fear as a baby in a manger.Because the King has come, fear does not get the final word. Peace does. And when the Prince of Peace takes over a life, what spills out is no longer fear—but praise, testimony, and unshakable confidence in the goodness of God.Essential listening for anyone who longs to trade fear for the peace that passes all understanding this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

In Luke Chapter 2 we learn of young shepherds out in the fields that get the birth announcement from the heavenly hosts and quickly go and meet the Christ child while the bustling town of Bethlehem misses him due to their busy-ness.
As we look at John 3:16 we realize in this familiar passage that God gave the world the greatest Christmas gift ever given, all we have to do is believe.

INNKEEPER: HOW EASY IT IS TO MISS CHRISTMASChristmas in a Minor Key – Part 4Springcreek Church | Senior Pastor Keith StewartDecember 24, 2022On Christmas Eve, we wrap up our series on the minor characters in the Christmas story by looking at the innkeeper - a man never even mentioned by name. Bethlehem's inn has become the most infamous of all hotels, not because of what happened there, but because of what might have happened but didn't. You could say, the inn has become a symbol for the human heart. Why is life so much like the inn? Why is there no room in it for Jesus? SERIES: Christmas in a Minor KeyIn truth, Christmas is both joyous, because of what it represents, and dark, because of the reality of the world into which Jesus was born. For people who are struggling, facing loss, or lacking supportive families, Christmas becomes just another reminder of everything they lack. The original Christmas story is a message of hope for all people in all circumstances. Join us this December as we re-discover the real Christmas story in all its gritty, beautiful reality.DISCUSSION QUESTIONS1.) Pastor Keith shared three plausible reasons as to why the innkeeper missed Christmas that still hold true to this day; preoccupation, indifference, and inhospitality. Have you ever been so preoccupied (or indifferent or inhospitable) that you missed out on the significance of what was happening in the moment? Describe that experience. While Pastor Keith focused on issues related to that first-century inn, there are plenty of other reasons why people today miss out on Christmas. Name and explain what other reasons people might be missing out on Christmas. What can we do as believers, without trying to force our values on others, that might help people better understand what this season is all about? 2.) In our overly crowded lives, none of us will ever find room for Christ. We have to make room for Him. This is true about so many of the things that we long to do. We often complain about not having the time to do what we want to do but we will never find the time we have to make time – we have to prioritize it over the other things that are taking too much of our time. When people say they don't have time for their spiritual life, time to go to church, time for connecting to other believers, and time to seek God by engaging in spiritual disciplines, what do you say? Did you ever think the same way? What was the key to breaking out of that mindset? How do we ensure that Christ remains central to our Christmas celebration? 3.) Pastor Keith's final story was about a young man with a learning disability who was asked to play the innkeeper in the community Christmas pageant. His tender heart couldn't bear turning Joseph and Mary away so he flipped the script and offered them his room instead. Some thought he had ruined the play but others were so moved and touched by his tenderness that it helped them see Christmas in a whole new light. Truly, for each and every one of us, we are the innkeeper and each of us decides whether to welcome Jesus in. If you have welcomed Jesus into your life, describe why you did that, where you did it, when, and how. Merry Christmas!https://www.springcreekchurch.org/#realspringcreekchurch #christmasinaminorkey #christmas #innkeeper #noroom #Jesus

Christmastime is always busy. It's full of parties, programs, and presents. If you don't intentionally set your focus on celebrating Jesus' birth, you'll miss what it's all about. There were people who missed His birth when He came, and there are still those who miss it today. So, who are the people who miss Christmas?
How busy are you this holiday season? Between the shopping, parties, hosting, and family photo sessions many of us are busier than ever. Why? Who are we doing all this for? If you're honest, you may realize that the person you are trying to make happy during the holiday season is YOU. It's very easy for selfishness to creep in. As we look at The Grinch, we see that both the people of Whoville, and The Grinch, missed the meaning of Christmas because they were all focused on themselves. God sent His Son to the world to be a Light that exposes our darkness. There is hope this Christmas season for you to be set free from selfishness!
Description: Tis the season for the crazy, busy life that is running toward Christmas Day with more push than we can hardly tolerate with joy! How do we slow down long enough to enjoy the time and keep our focus on the real reason for this season? Today's message focuses on finding a way to not miss Christmas!
