When you plant something, you put it in the ground and you wait. Once established it becomes something you can't imaging not being there. Tipton Hurst is like that for Little Rock, AR and Chris Norwood is like that for Tipton Hurst. The two just go together. It is understood that they are one and the same. Chris has accomplished many things in his personal merchandising and floral design career, all along the way he has worked for this family-owned company. He was grafted in and has added an amazing aesthetic to this institution. He has a very relaxed and humble way. You will completely enjoy his seasoned and witty approach to design. You can also relate to the business mindedness he portrays. This cornbread fed country boy has come to town. He has also taken his abilities to several parts of the world. We are sure you will enjoy this southerner's approach to life, work, and design.

It's been a long time coming (sorry about that), but we've finally been able to edit the episode that we recorded over two months ago. In this episode we talk about our new voice mail system (401-ItIsBig), about our Extra Life team, about some of our thrift store finds and flops and we run down some of the games we've played. The Great Big Table Extra Life team page can be found at www.extra-life.org/team/greatbigtable . Please spread the word about what we're doing, join the team, support a team member or start a team of your own with your family, gaming group, co-workers, church, or friendly local gaming store. All that and we harness the Internet to brainstorm ways to find, or create, gamers with whom to play more games. So, saddle up and check out the show. It's not a great plan, but it's our plan and we're sticking to it. Join as we plot to put a meeple in every pot- or at least on every table. We slipped the bonds of our robot masters, so the only opinions represented here are our own. We are however in league with Amazon, so a percentage of every purchase made through our links goes into our onshore accounts (thanks!). Some games have been provided by publishers for review while we picked up others for a buck or two at a thrift store or yard sale. Others are from our own collections or games we played with friends and strangers. Our church also received donated games to its community game collection from Legends Family and Hobby Games. All of which are disclosed as such in the podcast. Give yourself a pat on the back if you've made it this far. You should be proud of yourself for reading all this small print- we are!
Kickstarter has poured more than $2 million dollars of funding into the board game industry in the past year. Normally this would be seen as a tremendous benefit to the market, the industry, and the consumers. But there is a segment of the board game hobby that is taking the position that Kickstarter is bad for the industry.I have invited Chris Norwood, who writes at gamerchris.com, to come on the show and discuss this interesting position. He has written extensively about this position, taking a strong stand against those who would claim harm from Kickstarter. The conversation is interesting and worth listening.Enjoy!
