Dog lovers will love this one yet we are now seeing author Akino experiment with the characters. She also explores some social commentary and posing morally difficult questions. It goes without saying, today is a heavy episode about the horrors of fascism and war. Skip synopsis @ 7:23   Email: WeAppreciateManga@Gmail.com   128: Petshop of Horrors vol. 3 By Akino Matsuri Translation by Tomoharu Iwo and James Lucas Jones Lettering by Nunu Ngien     The first story Diamonde, involves D taking a pro-active stance on preventing artificial insemination. However, the story leaves one to wonder if the sperm was even human to begin with.    Second story, Desire, has D confront a little girl named Maggie who abuses her pet dog. D offers her to trade her dog for a younger sister of her choice. In doing so the sister she and her family fosters quickly becomes more popular and loved than Maggie. Consumed by jealousy Maggie then must deal with the horror of abandonment. But not to worry, this one does have a happy ending, bonus points if you are a dog lover.   Third story, Dessert, has a serial killer on the loose, meanwhile D falls in love with a man's cooking. But what D does not realise is that he is next on the menu.   The fourth story which we will unpack a lot today is “Devil, which is about an old woman named Rosemary. Rosemary has dementia but through a chance meeting with D her memories of the second world war are triggered. She mistakes D for his grandfather who gave her a teddy bear which acted as a charm that would protect her. D identifies the teddy which helps to bring her lost memories back. Once again, the teddy saves her life when a bullet from a neo-Nazi almost hits her chest. The episode raises the question on wherever it is the right thing to ask dementia sufferers to remember war.     Context   ·         ·       Are there people really have poodles with their noodles? For the sake of avoiding any semblance of prejudice we won't provide the source to such facts, however desperate times can call for desperate dietary measures. ·       Since “Count D” is a lover of all animals, he does not fit the offensive Asian stereotype of someone who eats dogmeat and is in fact vegetarian.   ·       The chapter ‘Devil' refers to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Although the manga was printed in 1996 the conflict evolved from the late 80's, with the events surrounding the Palestinian declaration of independence and “the first intifada”. There is a more convoluted history, with Israeli independence pre-dating many events but this is historical information that does not serve today's episode.   ·       As of the date of the upload, November 5th 2023, we are dealing with another wave of emotional charged misinformation and propaganda. U.S. President Joe Biden seems to have retracted his statement, or at the very least his words have been used as misinformation regarding the death and circumstances of 40 babies.   ·       People are reposting the attacks that happened a while back in Syria as if they were happening in Gaza today. And we are truly seeing an unprecedented amount of war crimes posted on social media 24/7 in HD. Which are not only taking a toll on our emotional wellbeing but are influencing us to respond in brash ways.     ·       Despite the division between Jewish and Islamic communities surrounding the conflict around Gaza, there is evidence that both parties have more in common than one would think.   ·       In the story we have Rosemary (Born Elizabeth Schneider) who ends up hiding from Nazi forces. If you are interested in the testimony of such people in real-life, please go to the following website:  https://www.het.org.uk/education/outreach-programme/survivor-stories     Fascism (As defined by Merriam-Webster) 1: A political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition   2: a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control   ·       It is important to note that the word “fascist” has become a slur, a fascist is not simply someone who disagrees with you, it is someone who profits from the subjugation and opposition of an individual, believing it to profit their nation. ·       For more information, ‘Stuff You Should Know' podcast made good episode about fascism, and one that is highly recommended for beginners on the subject.       Facebook Instagram Twitter/X Official Website   Email

Check out Riverside.FM - Use promo code Creatorhub Creative Juice - Learn More _ _ _ On this episode of the Creator Hub podcast, Lloyd is joined by Diamonde Williamson - arguably one of the most creative people he knows – to chat about her creative journey, following our intuition, and making space for the solution to appear. Ever since they were young, Diamonde has been creative and a storyteller, whether she was making furniture and taking art classes with her grandparents or creating storylines for her Barbies. For most of her life, she knew she wanted to do something artistic, and currently is a documentarian, producing and directing her films. On August 16, she will be debuting her latest documentary, Best Friends Not Forever, in Atlanta. The film focuses on friendship breakups and how we heal from them, a topic that is deeply personal to Diamonde.  Follow The Feeling From starting as an artist storyteller to focusing on the content that highlights black women, Diamonde built a lane for herself by trusting her feelings. She lives by the Marie Forleo quote, “The secret to finding passion is to bring it to everything you do.” Sure this requires lots of trial and error, and not being attached to how long one tries something, but following the feeling is part of the journey. There's no blueprint for entrepreneurs or artists, Diamonde views the path as an experiment of intuition instead. Top 3 Favorite Creatives Trick question! Diamonde finds more interest in business people and their journeys. For example, Kevin Hart is an artist, but he's also turned his art into a big business. The same goes for others like Oprah and Beyonce. And they did it before social media. The Highs and Lows It can be a constant struggle feeling like as a creative, success depends on following certain steps or achieving certain milestones like views, or clicks. Diamonde wrestles with this by going back to her creative intentions. If the goal is to get to a certain number of clicks, the power is outside of oneself, and dependent on others. If the goal is to create something that she would like even if others didn't, she walks away with more healing and enthusiasm to put into the next project. With less attachment to the outcome, we make more room for opportunities made for us on a heart level. Remember that social media is just one form of sharing. Diamonde encourages fellow creatives to spend more time with their feelings, and truly dissect how things affect your creative psyche. Making Money As An Artist Vs. Making Money From Your Art Also known as, making money bringing someone else's vision to life as opposed to your own. While Diamonde doesn't have the answer to that yet, she believes it's a matter of having space and time to figure it out. If a creator is constantly busy, there's no space to think about a plan of action (or have it appear for you). Instead of trying to fill the calendar with things that are going to help get us from A to B, make room to explore unexpected routes. When it comes to this and deciding who to work with or how to make a project happen, Diamonde just takes the first step and sees what happens rather than getting bogged down by the details. Lloyd and Diamonde work through an example of one of Lloyd's goals that currently feel overwhelming, and conclude that all we can do is everything within our control. Once those pieces are in motion, it's time to let go and let God. And even when imposter syndrome sneaks up on you, take a pause and think about all of the things you've done or are doing that you said you would.

I want to open this episode with a quote, “A lot of times people think, someday my path will start. But whatever is happening in this moment is the path. You’re already on it”. This comes from Marianne Williamson and is an excerpt from Oprah’s latest book, “The Path Made Clear”.  I skimmed this book and landed on this quote which I felt was very timely. Everything happening right now is “the path” and I hope you all believe that all the things happening are happening FOR you and not TO you! All of it has to happen in order to get you where you want to go. Today, we get to take a walk down the path and the life of Diamonde Williamson- Chief Video Strategist and Executive Producer at Third + Wonder Productions. Diamonde has spent her entire career  exploring the ways in which she can elevate the narratives of women, specifically women of color and has done a damn good job doing so! She’s worked on some of your favorite shows, with some of your favorite companies, and has been on Youtube since 2013, with a new vibrant show exploring the lives of black women titled, “The World is Ours”. But the truth is you don’t get to celebrate big wins like working for OWN on the hit show Iyanla Fix My Life, or becoming the founder of a major startup “Blossom”, without having some mountains to conquer. And for Diamonde, one of the biggest challenges was ensuring that along the way, she was becoming the courageous woman she knew she was always destined to become.  We get to talk about living life across the country, her therapy journey, the power of manifestation and having a North Star, and Diamonde’s desire to help as many people share their messages through video content, one of the fastest growing communication methods.  I had to talk to Diamonde, especially during this world reset, to find out the drive behind her grind and where she see’s herself over the next decade! She has an incredible masterclass underway to continue to help others with video production and I can’t wait for it! (Yes! I invested in it and myself #supportblackwomen)   Here’s the courageous journey of where Diamonde has been and where she is headed!  Connect with all things Diamonde at therealdiamonde.com Find Diamonde on social! Startup Funding | Learn from Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors and CEOs of Disruptive Companies

Roshawnna:                  Hi, I'm Dr. Roshawnna Novellus, host of Startup Funding and producer of the EnrichHer Initiative. I am so excited to be highlighting so many fabulous entrepreneurs from the city of Atlanta. Today we have Diamonde from Blossom. Diamonde:                  Hello. No I'm excited, I really am excited. I like talking. Roshawnna:                  Tell us more about Blossom and all of the awesome work you're doing here in Atlanta. Diamonde:                  So Blossom is a digital television destination for women of color by women of color and it simply came from the fact that I was working in television production myself for actual networks and I would pitch my own ideas and I was rejected so many times. Granted I have no problem with rejection but God was like, "Girl just do it yourself if this is what you really want to do." I've just always been passionate about creating an opportunity for women of color to tell their story and have equal opportunity to do the work that others get to do. Roshawnna:                  Right I know that you and I met awhile ago when you were working on some projects and you had some ebbs and flows then. Diamonde:                  Oh my god, the challenges. Roshawnna:                  Can you tell me more about the challenges of breaking in to this industry? Diamonde:                  Well so as a producer in television you know I have a cameraman that gets paid good money to do his work so the quality is already awesome but when you become an independent creator you have to have more money and the quality may not be the same so that's something that I'm learning. How to leverage my resources or where to put my money so that we can create quality content because at the end of the day we're competing with the Netflix, Hulu and all the other digital television destinations. Having money to create or really figuring out how to use our resources to create at high levels has been the challenge but we're definitely overcoming it and we're getting it done. Roshawnna:                  I know that recently you've had a lot of great accolades mentioned in the newspaper, the events, what is the most exciting thing that's going on right now with Blossom. Diamonde:                  So exciting. Honestly it's creating the content. We have so many great ideas and a few good productions that are happening over the next eight weeks so it's really just getting those done. Also we're traveling. We're going to go meet other content creators outside of Atlanta just that we can elevate the work of our content creators on our platform now. If we just remain in the one space, our content creators can't really be seen so we're going to be traveling. Roshawnna:                  Awesome. Diamonde:                  Yes I'm excited. Roshawnna:                  So what does success look like for Blossom? Diamonde:                  Honestly it's having tons of content like if I want to put a numeric value on it, 500 pieces of content that are created by women of color. I just can't even imagine what that's going to look like if we have feature films, web series, talk shows, I mean this mass amount of content that was all created by women of color, I think you really start to give them a voice at that point. Roshawnna:                  Now I heard that there are a lot of content creators that exist right now but they have no platform to distribute their work. Diamonde:                  This is true. Roshawnna:                  So is all of the work going to be original? Diamonde:                  It's going to be both. Roshawnna:                  Okay. Diamonde:                  So we at Blossom create original content but then we also have filmmakers or talk show hosts or anyone that has content themselves. They may have a web series and they can put it on our platform. Roshawnna:                  Okay. Atlanta is a big hug for entertainment so how are you connected with the whole entertainment buzz? Diamonde:                  Yes well naturally this is why I got started in television production. I have those relationships and I've kind of been in the space but now I'm getting more connected with the Indy scene, which I love and enjoy because these creators are creating at high levels frequently. They're very passionate about it. Roshawnna:                  Mm-hmm (affirmative)- Diamonde:                  I'm connected in that space, I love it, it's good. Roshawnna:                  So how are you helping shape the scene in Atlanta? Diamonde:                  I mean it's different providing a platform for these Indy filmmakers. A lot of them strive right to get on ABC or to get on NBC or to have their film in a theater. Well we want to provide them with that opportunity and ultimately we have goals of creating true economic value in Atlanta, that takes money but we're going to get that. Roshawnna:                  Right. Diamonde:                  We definitely want to be and have a home here in Atlanta. Roshawnna:                  Okay so what can our viewers do right now to support Blossom and make sure you have the capital that you need to be successful? Diamonde:                  That's easy. Go to www.watchblossom.com. Get a free trial, subscribe, come in and let us know what you think. We just launched a month ago but we are in the process of onboarding lots of content. Like I said the goal is 500 pieces and hopefully within the year, that's our goal, it's gonna happen. Roshawnna:                  Well Diamonde I'm so happy that not only you're doing this but you believe in yourself so much to go out there and take this leap forward to bring this much needed content to the marketplace. I wish you the best of luck. Diamonde:                  Thank you so much. Thank you, I'm so excited. Roshawnna:                  Thank you so much for being a guest on Startup Funding. Diamonde:                  No problem. Roshawnna:                  Startup Funding partnering with the EnrichHer initiative to showcase the best women led enterprises from the city of Atlanta.
