We're on summer break, so this week is a Revisit: a favorite conversation pulled back out of the archive. The idea takes after Dr. Kurosh Dini's concept of the visit, showing up to something with curiosity rather than judgment. In this one, we talk with coach Jane Massengill about the negative self-talk that so many people with ADHD carry, why it can run louder for us, and a simple practice she calls word watching for catching it in the moment. It's a warm, useful conversation about learning to be kinder to yourself. Whether it's your first listen or a return trip, it's worth your time.Links & NotesJaneMassengill.comThe Gremlin-Taming InstituteTaming Your Gremlin: A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting Out of Your Own Way — by Rick Carlson (00:00) - Welcome to The ADHD Podcast! “If you’re not paying attention to core working capital, it’s like waking up one day and all of a sudden you’re in the middle of a shit storm. And you’re like, “How did this happen?!” – RJon Robins, author of Profit First for Lawyers In the final episode of our seven-part Financial Literacy Series, RJon introduces one of the most important concepts for long-term business stability: core working capital. Drawing from both the Profit First for Lawyers audiobook and the 2019 live workshop, he explains why maintaining adequate working capital isn’t about fear. It’s about creating the financial cushion that allows you to grow intentionally instead of constantly reacting to cash flow challenges. Throughout this series, we have talked about understanding your numbers, calculating Total Owner Benefit, determining your normalized salary, implementing Profit First, and strategically getting out of production. Core working capital brings all those lessons together. What Financial Literacy Adds to Your Life Our exploration into what it means to become financially literate as a law firm owner has been about understanding the story your numbers are telling you. This knowledge can help you make better decisions for your business, your family, and your future. Action Steps Review your firm’s monthly operating expenses and determine how much core working capital you currently have available. Meet with your leadership and financial team to discuss your growth goals and whether your current financial cushion supports those plans. Use what you’ve learned throughout this Financial Literacy Series to make intentional, well-informed decisions that strengthen your business for the long term. While financial literacy does not eliminate uncertainty, it does give you the confidence to make informed decisions about your business growth. As RJon has explained throughout the series, the goal isn’t to simply accumulate cash. It is to build a business that gives you more options, greater stability, and the freedom to think beyond today’s challenges. Mentioned Parts 1-6 of the Financial Literacy Series Part 1: You're Not Bad With Numbers Part 2: Understanding the Stages of a Law Firm's Growth Part 3: Calculating Your Total Owner Benefit Part 4: What Is Your Normalized Salary? After seven years in a Texas prison, Tim came home with prison politics, gang ties, and connections that would pull him straight into the meth game. In episode 4 of Tim's series, he breaks down how life behind bars shaped his mindset, how he adjusted after release, and how prison relationships eventually led to cartel-level meth connections. Tim talks about working on death row, surviving the Texas prison system, coming home on parole, and entering a dangerous world of meth trafficking, cartel plugs, stash houses, and small-town drug markets. He also explains how rural Texas became flooded with ice, why meth spread so quickly through small towns, and how one out-of-state connection changed everything. This is a raw look at prison life, cartel influence, the meth pipeline, and the consequences of chasing fast money after prison. Watch until the end for Tim's reflection on how quickly the money, pressure, and paranoia took over. What future are you asking for with your business? What is it you would like to create? This episode of Choice, Change and Action is an excerpt from Simone Milasas' current Business Done Different class where she talks about getting clear on what it is you desire, and looking at the elements you are avoiding that could actually allow your business to grow and expand.  You have to actually take some action and put some work in to build the business. Stop limiting its growth through choices like competition, looking to the past, and making things matter that don't, and start choosing the elements of ease, joy, glory, magic, miracles and chaos. What seeds are you growing that you could be nurturing today? Questions And Tools: "What else can I generate?" "What else is occurring here that I haven't allowed myself to receive?" "If I wasn't competing, what else is available? What else could I be choosing in regards to this?" "What if this didn't matter?" Tools: What is the future you are asking for? What is the future your business is asking for? What else is occurring and what else is showing up that you haven't allowed yourself to receive? What seeds are you growing that you could be nurturing today? What else could you create, what else could you generate that you haven't allowed yourself to choose? Breathe. Stop listening to the noise. Ask a question.   What is the future that you are asking for? What is the future your business is asking for? Everything you've decided that is, everything you've decided what that must look like, what that must feel like, what you must do, will you destroy and uncreate it all times a godzillion? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds. Steven Trevino grew up battling opiate and pill addiction — and when the money ran out he made a desperate decision that changed everything. He tried to rob a bank. Then a civilian. He got caught by state police and then the feds — and ended up spending over three years in Texas state and federal prisons. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he opens up about what surviving Texas prisons really looked like — race fights gang threats and being targeted for refusing to fall into prison politics. He rolled with the Paisas and navigated one of the most dangerous environments imaginable. Then came 20 days in segregation after a prison fight — and the spiritual awakening nobody saw coming. He came out of that cell a completely different person. Released in 2020 with nothing — no license no car and strict parole conditions — he built himself back from absolute zero. And he did it by starting a business called I Scoop Poop — your dog's business is his business. _____________________________________________ #BankRobbery #truecrimecommunity #prison _____________________________________________ Connect with Steven Trevino: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/steven.trevino.3572/ Website: https://www.iscooppoopdfw.com/ _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Intro: From Top Salesman to Federal Prison 03:35 How Sales Success Fueled My Addiction 05:55 Hooked on Prescription Pills 09:02 Heroin Addiction & My First Rehab 13:13 Rock Bottom: Losing My Job, Seizures & Crime 16:01 The Botched Robberies That Got Me Arrested 21:22 Facing Federal Charges & Real Prison Time 23:31 Surviving Racial Politics Behind Bars 26:06 Prison Fights & How I Made Peace 32:32 Solitary Confinement & Finding Faith 40:32 Divorce & Reinventing Myself in Prison 49:01 Parole, Transition & the Politics of Getting Out 58:01 Walking Out: Rebuilding Life From Zero 01:03:03 Starting My First Business After Prison 01:11:19 Love, Relationships & Redemption 01:14:47 Scaling the Business & Learning to Win 01:27:01 A Second Federal Case & the Lessons It Taught Me 01:29:29 The Biggest Lessons From It All 01:33:01 Faith, Contentment & Final Thoughts _____________________________________________ To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka Learn more about your ad choices. You've been told to get eight hours of sleep your whole life. Dr. Michael Breus — The Sleep Doctor — says that's not only wrong, it may be making things worse. In this conversation with Dwayne Kerrigan, one of the world's foremost sleep specialists breaks down the science of when to sleep, when to drink caffeine, when to workout, and why most people's sleep problems aren't about how much they sleep — they're about when. In this episode: The four chronotypes — Lion, Bear, Wolf, and Dolphin — and why knowing yours could reduce your total sleep while dramatically improving quality; plus why 55% of the population are Bears, and what that means for your nine-to-five schedule The 90-minute caffeine rule: how adrenaline and cortisol make caffeine useless for the first 90 minutes after waking, and when to stop caffeine entirely to protect your sleep The biology of the 1:00–3:00 AM wake-up: every human on Earth wakes up in this window due to a cortisol spike — and Dr. Breus's four-step protocol for getting back to sleep, including the four-seven-eight breathing technique developed by Dr. Andrew Weil for Navy snipers Why alcohol destroys Stage 3 and 4 deep sleep — the physical restoration stage where the brain's glymphatic system flushes beta amyloid and tau proteins linked to Alzheimer's disease — and the exact wine-with-dinner timing strategy that lets you drink without wrecking your sleep Sleep tracking devices: why none of them are accurate for measuring sleep stages, why rings outperform wristbands, why you should only review your tracker data once a week, and how to use trend analysis rather than nightly numbers Dr. Breus's personal disclosure: he has moderate obstructive sleep apnea and stops breathing 26 times an hour — and why he wants every listener to stop avoiding sleep testing out of fear Discover Your Chronotype - Take The Quiz: https://sleepdoctor.com/pages/dr-breus-podcast-dwayne-kerrigan Episode Highlights: 00:00 - Entrepreneurs Sleep Differently 00:33 - Welcome and Guest Introduction 01:06 - Tony Robbins Connection 03:17 - Meet Dr Michael Breus 05:05 - Middle of Night Awakenings 07:40 - Understanding Chronotypes 11:31 - The Lion Chronotype 12:47 - The Bear Chronotype 13:18 - The Wolf Chronotype 14:23 - The Dolphin Chronotype 18:07 - Bad Sleep Habits 20:39 - Morning Workouts and Cortisol 22:27 - Perfect Time for Sex 25:20 - Understanding Cortisol 26:37 - Why We Wake at 3AM 28:57 - Don't Go Pee 30:52 - Don't Look at the Clock 31:43 - Four Seven Eight Breathing 34:59 - Getting Out of Bed 36:28 - Stay Positive 38:06 - Breathing Technique Recap 38:51 - Breathing Techniques Really Work 42:50 - Alcohol and Sleep Quality 46:47 - Caffeine Timing Guidelines 49:49 - Cannabis and Sleep 51:39 - Understanding Sleep Stages 54:29 - Sleep Cycles Explained 56:11 - Sleep Tracking Devices 01:00:08 - Choosing the Right Tracker 01:04:18 - Heart Rate Variability 01:07:17 - Quality Over Quantity 01:08:46 - Sleep Apnea and Testing 01:12:12 - Finding Your Sleep Need 01:12:36 - Closing Thoughts and Stay Tuned for Part 2 Resources mentioned: Several of Dr. Michael Breus' books – The Power of When, Energize!, The Sleep Doctor's Diet Plan, Good Night, and Sleep, Drink, Breathe Four-seven-eight breathing technique — developed by Dr. Andrew Weil Muse headband — brainwave monitoring headband for sleep and meditation Oura Ring — sleep tracking ring Whoop Strap — activity and sleep tracker Apple Watch — sleep tracking The Happy Ring from Happy Sleep — FDA-approved ring for sleep studies Tony Robbins's book Unleash the Power Within Quotes: “Eight hours is a myth, man. Women are constantly told to trust their bodies… right up until their bodies start telling them something medicine can't immediately explain. In this powerful and deeply validating conversation, Nicole sits down with Amy Kurtz — certified health coach, patient advocate, speaker, and author of But You Look Fine: Trapped in the Hell Between Sick and Well and How to Break Free — to unpack the emotional aftermath of chronic illness, medical gaslighting, invisible symptoms, and the complicated grief that comes from losing trust in your own body. Amy shares her experience navigating late-stage Lyme disease, seeing 36 doctors before getting answers, and what she calls “medical trauma brain” — the hypervigilance, anxiety, and identity loss that can remain long after physical symptoms improve. Together, Nicole and Amy explore why so many women feel dismissed in healthcare settings, how chronic illness reshapes relationships and self-trust, and why healing is about far more than just getting a diagnosis. This episode is for every woman who has ever walked out of a doctor's office feeling unheard, minimized, or crazy — and for every person who's ever been told, “But you look fine.” We explore: How chronic illness and invisible symptoms impact identity and self-trust The concept of “medical trauma brain” and illness after the illness Why healing isn't linear — physically or emotionally Practical nervous system regulation tools for anxiety and hypervigilance How to support loved ones dealing with chronic illness or perimenopause The connection between women's health, appearance, and societal expectations Why rebuilding agency over your body is essential to healing This conversation is equal parts rage, relief, validation, and empowerment — the kind that makes you feel less alone and more equipped to trust yourself again. What can you choose to create as a business? In this episode of Choice, Change and Action Simone Milasas talks building a business with choices, questions, contribution, possibilities and chaos. Your business doesn't have to be stressful and you don't have to be overwhelmed. If you have the mindset that you are stressed, overwhelmed or in burnout, you are the one creating that.  There is a different choice available. Let's build a business done different! Questions And Tools: "What awareness did I gain from this?" "What relaxation can I be with my business (project/idea) today?" "Is this relevant?" "What can I be today?" "All of life comes to me with ease and joy and glory." "I'm having this. I'm choosing this. No matter what it takes, no matter what it looks like." "Show me business what you would like to be."   Tools: Business isn't guaranteed to be successful. You've got to be ready to pivot. You can't control a business; you need to navigate it. Stop focusing in on your business and start relaxing. Are you trying to prove your worth rather than know your worth? Sit and just BE with your business What choice can you make today? Where is your energy required? Is your energy required today? Chaos creates. Havoc is a destructive energy. When you are willing to be out of control, you will have chaos. Pull energy into your business. Have so much joy in everything you choose. Engage. Create a flow.  Business is not about being harsh; it's about creating that invitation. Allow your business to show you what else is possible. Get your Bars run. If you are experiencing 'overwhelm' momentarily change what you are doing. What are you making relevant that is not relevant? If you were going to live for the next 100 years/300 years/500 years, what would you choose?  Does it matter what you get done today? Include your body in your business; include your body in everything you choose. You have to ask for it. Don't be invested in the outcome Let the business show you what next. You don't need money, you choose money. What reason and justification are you using to not just start? Don't delay. Start. You've got to be willing to choose it.   Everywhere you haven't allowed yourself to relax with your business, will you destroy and uncreate it all times a godzillion? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds. Everywhere you have decided you must control your business, will you destroy and uncreate it all times a godzillion? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds. Everything that doesn't allow you to perceive, know, be and receive everything that is possible, will you destroy and uncreate it all times a godzillion? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds. How many of you are choosing stress and 'burnout' because that's what everybody else is doing? Everything that is, will you destroy and uncreate it all times a godzillion? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds. The Pre-Shift Podcast is back!Tom Schmidt, co-owner of Salt + Smoke BBQ, talks with host D.J. about shifting from hands-on restaurant work to leading an eight-location, 550+ employee business, a transition he says truly began around the fourth location and felt like a “phantom limb” loss of how he measured success. He explains how delegating to partners and leaders—especially co-owner Haley, a director of operations, and later hospitality, HR, finance, and catering roles—enabled growth while preserving culture and “magic,” in part by creating advancement paths for ambitious managers and chefs.Schmidt describes systematizing communication through agenda-driven meetings and cascading updates to stores, and relying on 7shifts Manager Log Books and Shift Feedback to surface real issues and protect culture. He also discusses saying no to new concepts, using forecasting and KPI-based bonuses tied to food, liquor, and labor costs, and shares the ongoing challenge of producing signature cheddar-and-bacon popovers.Key TakeawaysThe Desk Shift Nobody Talks About: Hear Tom's candid account of what it  feels like to trade the floor for a desk — why operators retreat to what they're good at, and why that instinct can stall your growth. The 4-Location Wall: Discover why the jump from one to four restaurants demands a completely different version of you as a leader.Building a Team That Outgrows You: Learn how Tom and co-owner Haley Riley turned retention risk into a growth strategy by creating new leadership roles that gave a path to their best people.Getting Out of Your Own Head: Find out how they cascade decisions from a Wednesday corporate meeting all the way to weekend front-of-house staff — and why Tom credits structured meetings (despite hating them) with keeping eight locations aligned. The Feedback Loop That Builds Trust: Hear how 7shifts' shift feedback tool gives every one of their 550 employees a direct line to the top — and why Tom refuses to filter what comes back.Telling the Story Through Briskets: Understand how Tom connects labor and food cost numbers to something tangible — like seventeen lost briskets a week — to help managers act on the data in front of them.Resources MentionedSalt + Smoke: https://www.saltandsmokebbq.com/Send us Fan Mail

What if you didn't have to prove anything to anyone, and you could choose what it is that you actually desire? In this episode of Choice, Change and Action Simone Milasas talks with Viktor and Amanda Anderson about how they co-create as a family. What they have learnt is to allow others to explore whatever they are aware of, with no point of view about the choices they are choosing. And, to be aware of everyone's projections and expectations, but make your own choices based on what it is that you desire. When you choose from your awareness, there will be a thread of communion throughout - with no right or wrong, just choice. Make choices that make you happy. That's when the magic explodes and you have an enthusiasm for the adventure of living!  Questions And Tools: "What would I actually like to create?" "Is this going to work for me?" "What could I choose?"  Tools: What is it that you truly desire? What if you didn't have to prove anything? What if you could take advantage of whatever you have available? Embrace everyone and everything that is contributing to you; don't make something hard that is actually ease. It's okay to have possibilities available. It's okay to have money. It's okay to be born into a good family. Be grateful. There's a generosity in receiving. Acknowledge that you are actually choosing everything - regardless of what is going on. Have no point of view about what others choose; allow each person to explore whatever they are aware of. Choose what you are aware of, and there will be a thread of communion throughout. There is no right or wrong; just choice, and you get to choose. Have each others back. Make choices that make you happy. Everything you've chosen has gotten you where you are today. Don't judge what you've chosen, just keep choosing. When you choose to create your life, you have that enthusiasm. Keep going, keep choosing. If you are currently holding yourself back, who or what are you holding yourself back for and what is the value of that?  Follow your awareness. You've always had possibilities available. Play with exploring choices. When you have points of views and judge yourself, it's not being kind to yourself. If you are willing to be kind to you, possibilities open up and you're willing to receive in a whole other way. It has to start with you. There is so much more possible than what we've currently chosen. When you choose, then you create it. Make a choice and magic explodes. Everywhere you are choosing unkindness and not receiving so you can create separation rather than the vulnerability of being in communion, will you destroy and uncreate it all times a godzillion? Right and wrong, good and bad, POD and POC, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds.  If you no longer held yourself back, what else could you choose? How many of you are a control freak of magnitude? You tend to control because you misidentified and misapplied that will create a greater result than not controlling. But you actually stop receiving when you control. What if instead you could trust you and trust that the universe has your back? In this episode of Choice, Change and Action Simone Milasas talks about control versus trust. Being a control freak is not  right or wrong, good or bad - it's actually a skill - but are you using it to your advantage or are you stopping receiving by controlling everything?  What if it's about following the energy and choosing? You have infinite choice, but how many of you justify that you don't? Let's choose something different and be out of control. Let's receive more and be more! Questions And Tools: "The universe has my back, what am I going to choose?" "Universe, show me what else is possible." "Universe, show me some miracles today." Tools: Acknowledge how much you love to control. Trust you! Trust that the universe has your back. If you weren't controlling, what could you change? What would happen if you gave up control? Do you really think control will create greater? Pull energy through you and your financial reality. Everywhere you've decided your financial reality is a problem, turn it 180 degrees, over and over. What lightness, magic, and miracles can you let into you and your financial reality? What have you decided trusting the universe is?  Embrace chaos.  Allow the magic and miracles to show up. Ask for beings who are desiring something different to show up. Learn to lie to others but don't lie to yourself Are you controlling because you think you've got it right? Do you think you have to stay the same because that's how everybody else perceives you?   What are you trying to control in your life that you think will get a greater result than not controlling? Would you like access to our advanced agency training for FREE? https://www.agencymastery360.com/training Are your account managers drowning because you never built the system around them? Are you still the one clients call when something goes sideways, even though you hired someone to handle that? In seven years, today's featured guest and her co-founder built a team of six and developed an account management structure that worked well enough to earn a speaking slot at Elevate. She'll break down the exact touchpoint cadence her agency uses to retain clients and grow accounts, what she looks for when hiring account managers, and what it took to actually get out of the way. She'll also share what makes a co-founder partnership work when so many of them fail. Michelle Keckler is the co-founder of KNC Marketing, a full-service digital marketing agency based in Nashville, Tennessee. She and her co-founder Danielle launched the agency after Danielle was laid off from a company they both worked at. Within two months they had enough clients for Michelle to leave her corporate job. Michelle spoke at Elevate and has been a member of the Agency Mastery Mastermind. Her focus inside the agency is on client relationships, account management structure, and building a team that can own outcomes without founder involvement. In this episode, we'll discuss: How to set your account managers for success What to look for in an account manager Why letting go is not a one-time decision Subscribe Apple | Spotify | iHeart Radio Sponsors and Resources E2M Solutions: Today's episode of the Smart Agency Masterclass is sponsored by E2M Solutions, a web design and development agency that has provided white-label services for the past 10 years to agencies all over the world. Start your investigation now at toggl.com/smartagency and use the code SMARTAGENCY10 at checkout for a 10% off annual plans. The Account Management System That Actually Retains Clients For Michelle, the first step to setting her account manager for success is to hand off ownership of that account to them right away and make that clear to the client. After that, they rely on a structured cadence built around three consistent touchpoints: weekly status updates so clients always know where things stand, monthly meetings to review campaign metrics and look at the next 30, 60, and 90 days, and quarterly business reviews that step above the day-to-day to assess overall direction and impact. What makes the cadence work is not the frequency. It is what happens inside each touchpoint. Michelle is specific about this: the monthly meeting is more than just a metrics review. It is an opportunity to ask the client what has changed in their business, whether they made a key hire, lost a team member, or landed a new account that shifts priorities. Often agencies get so focused on delivering the work that they stop asking questions that would help them serve the client better. That gap is where accounts quietly go sideways before anyone notices. Who to Hire for Account Management (And What to Actually Look For) Account management is one of the hardest roles to hire for because it requires a combination of skills that rarely come packaged together. Michelle is direct about this: you are looking for someone who can sit in a room with a client, speak confidently about the work, handle a difficult pricing conversation, and bring enough business understanding back to the internal team to actually inform strategy. She calls it a unicorn role, and she means it. What she's learned through experience is that marketing background matters less than business acumen and leadership mindset. Several of their best account managers came from strong business backgrounds with no formal marketing experience. They hired for values alignment and problem-solving ability, then trained the rest. The interview process shifted from culture-fit questions toward situational ones: how would you handle a frustrated client, tell me about a hard conversation you navigated. Knowledge can be taught. The instinct to lead a client relationship under pressure cannot. Getting Out of the Way Is a Decision You Have to Make More Than Once Michelle is honest about the fact that letting go of account management was not a one-time decision. It was a pattern she had to interrupt repeatedly. Early on she stayed involved because she knew her first hire personally. As the team grew, the justification changed but the behavior did not. advice from Darby, Agency Mastery's Agency Scale Specialist, to take the floaties off and let her people swim, stuck with her because it named the real problem: the systems were in place, the people were qualified, and she was still hovering. The practical shift that made the difference was removing a bottleneck in the operations structure. Danielle had been handling project management as an additional layer between account managers and the internal team. Moving project management back to the account management team eliminated a handoff, sped up delivery, and forced the account managers to own the full outcome of each client relationship. That structural change did more than any mindset shift could on its own. The role became clearer, the accountability became cleaner, and the team stepped into it. What Makes a Co-Founder Partnership Actually Work Michelle and Danielle are cousins who have built a seven-year agency together, which puts them in a small category. Michelle is candid about why she believes many partnerships fail and why theirs has not. The foundation is shared values and a shared goal for the business. The operating reality is that they have very different personalities, and that difference is a feature, not a bug. Danielle is the fast implementer. Michelle is the one who wants to think it through. One is the gas, one is the brake, and the business has avoided several train wrecks as a result. What she is clear about is that a partnership is not a shortcut. It requires the same kind of honest communication and tolerance for imperfection that any long-term relationship does. There will be stretches where one partner is carrying more than the other. There will be disagreements about pace, direction, and priorities. What matters is that both people want what is best for the business and the team, and can say the hard thing to each other when it needs to be said. Michelle is not selling the partnership model to everyone. She is saying that if you find someone with complementary strengths and the same core values, do not let the fear of conflict talk you out of it. Are you trying to get parenting right? In this episode of Choice, Change and Action Simone Milasas talks with Grace Douglas about choice and parenting. If you're trying to get it right, you stop the creative process. What if you could empower your kids instead? Questions And Tools: "If we do this, what will it create for all of us? In 5 years time? In 10 years time?" Tools: Be present with your kids. Empower them to choose. Educate yourself on parenting and acknowledge your awareness; you are the source. Just because it's going to create more doesn't mean it's going to be easy. Perceive the energy of your choices in the future. 2 hands exercise - place the energy of one choice in one hand and the energy of the other choice in the other hand. Let go and have no point of view. There is no getting it right with parenting. Be a bad parent. Manipulate your kids. Bribes are okay. Make things they don't want to do fun for them eg homework. Support your kids where they are. Let your kids try things and make mistakes. When your kids are choosing something you don't like, be as open as possible whilst letting them know you don't like it. Tools you can say to your kids: "It's your life, you need to choose. I'm here for you." "I don't agree but tell me more about how you came to that point of view." "I'm not buying them for you but if you would like to buy them you can use your money."   As Mentioned In This Episode: El Lugar: https://ellugar.com  Merlin bird identifier app: https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org  Conscious Parenting: Conscious Kids with Gary & Grace Douglas: https://www.accessconsciousness.com/en/class-catalog/access-special-classes/advanced-facilitator/Conscious-Parenting-Conscious-Kids---4-part-online_639109173596153952/details  Useful Links: The Clearing Statement explained Access Consciousness Website Choice, Change & Action Podcast Instagram Follow Simone Milasas Simone's Website Simone's Instagram Simone's Facebook Simone's YouTube Simone's Telegram Simone's Contact Email  Follow Grace Douglas Grace's Website Play with Simone Milasas The Profit Club membership Getting Out of Debt Joyfully Taking Action online video course All Upcoming Classes with Simone Past Class Recordings

This week we're discussing Getting Out of Our Comfort Zone. Most of us have a version of life we have quietly decided is good enough. Not thriving, maybe, but manageable. And when you are doing this alone, manageable starts to feel like a win. The problem is that manageable has a way of becoming permanent if nobody asks the harder question: is this actually where you want to stay? Robert Beeson, Founder and CEO of Solo Parent, and Elizabeth Cole, single parent and co-host, sit down with Amber Fuller, a counselor with a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and single parent herself, to get honest about what the comfort zone actually costs and what it looks like to take one step out of it without blowing up the life you have worked hard to build. Key Insights from This Episode Familiar is not the same as free. What feels like stability may actually be avoidance wearing the clothes of comfort. There is a real difference between the growth zone and the panic zone. One stretches you with purpose; the other pushes you past your limits and burns you out. One small step is not a consolation prize. Starting smaller than you think you need to is exactly how lasting growth happens. How many of you are not willing to take a risk? If you are willing to lose everything, you can have everything. In this episode of Choice, Change and Action Simone Milasas talks about the willingness to take a risk and really enjoy living. When you take a risk, you don't know what the outcome will be but you will always gain awareness. What if there is something else available by what you choose? There is so much more available to us. What if today was the day you were willing to take a risk and choose something different? Enjoy taking a risk. Be more of you. You are a gift. You are a miracle. Start acknowledging it.   Questions And Tools: "What's the worst thing that can happen?" Tools: What are you not willing to lose? Where are you not willing to take a risk? It's not about getting it right, it's about choosing. Choose something greater every single day. what are you saying "Never," to that you could actually have as an adventure? What if you took the risk and found out what else is possible? How many of you think you'll panic in certain situations so you just don't choose it? When you take that risk, you find a strength and start to live in a different way How many of you are not willing to take a risk because you'd have to receive? Are you willing to receive all energies? Be brave enough to ask others for help; you do not have to do it all alone. What else is possible? What else can you ask for? How much can you receive How much fun can you have?  How much ease, joy and glory can you invite into your life? What would you like to choose that you are not choosing because you've decided it's taking a risk and you don't know what the outcome will be? In this episode of The Selling Podcast, we dive into the world of leadership development with Val Ries, executive coach and author of Chief Inspiration Officer at Executive Muse. Val breaks down her core frameworks for building thriving, motivated teams, starting with a quiz that holds up a mirror to your own leadership style. We explore the balance between encouragement and high standards, the psychological needs of employees, and how to bounce back from difficult interactions.Key Episode Highlights:1. The Three Hats of LeadershipVal's assessment categorizes leaders into three main archetypes:The Encouraging Cheerleader (The Cheerleader): Approachable, supportive, and great at boosting morale during tough times. The Intentionally Passive Leader (The Space Giver): Steps back to let employees "swim" (and potentially fail), fostering autonomy and trust. The High Standards Leader (The Challenger): Communicates clear expectations, pushes for excellence, and challenges the team to improve. The Goal: A balance of all three (33% each). Leaders often lean too heavily on one, which can create imbalances in team dynamic and productivity.2. Leading When Your Job Is on the LineVal addresses the immense pressure young or new leaders face to produce numbers. The constant worry about job security often causes leaders to show up as terse, irritable, or micromaging, which stifles the team. The Fix:Refinement and Mindset: Leaders must first "inspire themselves." If you don't hit goals, what are you making that mean about you ("I'm not good enough")?Self-Reflection: Identify the core emotion you are leading from (fear, worry) and reframe it. A calmer, more confident leader brings out the best in others.3. Getting Out of "The Cave""The Cave" is Val's metaphor for getting stuck in a negative, defensive, or unproductive mental state following a trigger (like a lost sale or harsh criticism). The C.A.V.E. Acronym:Criticism (external/internal)AssumptionsVictim Mindset ("I'm not good enough")Enclosed Patterns (behavioral retreats: shutting down, second-guessing) The Takeaway: It's not if you get into the cave, but how long you stay. The book provides specific exercises to identify when you are in the cave and how to get out quickly.4. What Employees "Crave" From YouVal explains that employees rarely just want to be "left alone." They crave a psychological foundation to thrive. The C.R.A.V.E. Acronym:Connection & CommunityReliability (a boss they can count on)Appreciation (feeling recognized for their work and value)Value (meaningful work, understanding the "why")Effective Communication (proactive and respectful)

In this episode, John shares his journey from feeling completely helpless as a broker to discovering the power of true consulting. We discuss the critical differences between a "broker" and a "consultant," how he uncovered that an employer was secretly paying 45% of their entire $10 million pharmacy spend in rebates, and how taking a fully-insured client directly to Reference-Based Pricing (RBP) cut their $1,000/month employee-only premium completely in half. John also breaks down the emerging power of pharmacogenomics, why 2026 is poised to be an even more brutal renewal year, and why you must replace your traditional broker with a true consultant. If you are an employer tired of throwing away money on fully-insured premiums, or a broker wanting to make the jump to self-funding, this conversation is the push you need.Thank you to our 2026 sponsors!ParetoHealth: ParetoHealth empowers midsize employers with a long-term solution to reduce volatility and lower overall health benefits costs. Financial Advice Built Around What Matters to You with Sharon Epps

What if the most important factor in choosing a financial advisor isn't performance alone, but alignment? Many people assume the primary role of a financial advisor is to maximize returns. While wise investing certainly matters, new research suggests something deeper may be at work. When financial advice aligns with your values, it doesn't just affect your portfolio—it can reshape how you think about money altogether. That was the focus of today's conversation with Sharon Epps, president of Kingdom Advisors, who shared insights from a new study conducted in partnership with Pinkston Research. What the Research Sought to Discover The study set out to compare the experiences of clients working with values-aligned advisors—specifically Certified Kingdom Advisors® (CKAs)—with those of clients using more traditional advisory relationships. The goal was simple: determine whether shared values actually change the financial planning experience. The findings were compelling. When values line up, the advisor-client relationship becomes more than a transaction. It becomes a trusted partnership. Shared Values Build Trust Faster One of the clearest takeaways from the research was the role that trust plays in how beliefs and priorities are shared. Seventy percent of CKA clients said shared values were the most important factor when choosing an advisor. By contrast, 64% of the general public said investment returns mattered most. That difference is significant. When clients feel understood—not just managed—they often experience what Sharon described as a “trust dividend.” Communication deepens. Confidence grows. Relationships become stronger and more enduring. Does Values Alignment Mean Sacrificing Performance? That's a fair question—and an important one. The answer, according to Epps, is no. Values-based investing has been widely studied, and many strategies have demonstrated competitive long-term performance. The key remains the same as with any sound financial plan: discipline, diversification, and wise decision-making. In other words, it's not a choice between faith and performance. You can pursue both. A More Complete Financial Conversation So what actually feels different when meeting with a Certified Kingdom Advisor®? Sharon explained that the conversation extends beyond numbers on a page. CKAs often ask about: Life goals Family relationships Personal calling Hopes for the future Generosity priorities The research reflected that difference: 87% of CKA clients said they discussed hopes and dreams with their advisor, compared to 47% of general clients. 85% discussed family relationships, compared with 32% of those with general advisors. 88% said their advisor also addressed technical areas such as taxes and debt, compared with 59% of general advisors. That means values-centered planning doesn't replace technical excellence—it expands it. It becomes whole-life planning. From Ownership to Stewardship Perhaps the most meaningful shift happens internally. As people begin viewing money through a biblical lens, they often move from an ownership mindset to a stewardship mindset—the belief that everything we have ultimately belongs to God and has been entrusted to us for His purposes. The study found that 63% of CKA clients reported being motivated by a desire to be faithful stewards. That inward shift often leads to outward action. Nearly half of those clients said they had significantly increased their giving, compared with just 23% of general clients. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). Our financial decisions don't just reveal our priorities—they also shape them. Choosing an Advisor Who Shares Your Values A financial advisor does more than help manage assets. The right advisor can help you make wise decisions that reflect your deepest convictions. Performance matters. Expertise matters. But alignment matters too. Because when your values and financial guidance move in the same direction, money becomes more than a tool for accumulation—it becomes a means of faithful stewardship. I own my home and car outright, but can't qualify for a HELOC. How can I realistically get out of debt? Our bank says we should keep our HELOC open after the mortgage is paid off to help prevent fraud. Is that wise or unnecessary? My 36-year-old daughter wants to know how much she should keep in an emergency fund—$1,000 or three to nine months of expenses? My wife and I want to make funeral arrangements now. Is a pre-need insurance plan through a funeral home better than setting money aside ourselves? And does our trust naming our son as executor cover this? I bought a home in 2003, rented it for years, moved back in, and sold it this year. Will I owe capital gains tax on the profit? Where are you not allowing your business to change and pivot so that something different can show up? What limitations are you choosing by asking for change and then resisting it?  In this episode of Choice, Change and Action Cassy Summers asks Simone Milasas some questions about building a business done different. There is a much bigger choice available for all of us when we are willing to listen to the whispers, follow the energy, and open ourselves up to receiving; especially in business! Where are you not acknowledging that by your choices, you are impacting the entirety of the world? You being you changes the world! but you have to be able to pivot and choose different.  You've got this! Questions And Tools: "Is it mine?" "What request of the universe and demand of myself can I be that will allow more ease, joy and glory?" "What limitations am I choosing" "What will this create?"  "What am I aware of?" "Where is my energy required today?" "Is it for now? Is it for later? Or has it changed?"  Tools: Just because it's business, doesn't mean it has to be serious. What have you made so meaningful and significant about business that's not true? What lies are you telling yourself daily? What if in business you were always in question, not looking for a result, and it was always about following the energy? No choice is right and no choice is wrong. Come out of judgement of change. Open up to your awareness. Don't do it for the money but be aware of the money. Profit is not just the money you have left over when you pay the bills. What profitability do you and your body receive from your choices? When working for someone else, treat it like your business; you'll receive more from it. Are you really willing to find out what else is possible? Constantly look at, what does your business desire, what do you desire? If you did business done different, what would you choose? Where are you not allowing your business to change and pivot so that something different can show up?  How much energy can you pull into your business today? If you stopped forcing everything you are currently forcing, what change could you create? What question could you ask? Who could you talk to? Stop being peoply and start being an infinite being. Stop judging yourself. Make the demand to choose something different What do you know? What can you be with this? Let go of control and allow the universe to show you something different. Choose one thing today that would allow something different to show up. Don't judge yourself when you go into doubt or judge.   What limitations are you choosing with your body? Everything that is, times a godzillion, will you destroy and uncreate it? Right and wrong, good and bad, POC and POD, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds. Everywhere you are trying to create a business from a timeline and what's right and wrong and what matters and what's relevant, will you destroy and uncreate it? All you are doing is creating solidity and not allowing anything more to show up. Right and wrong, good and bad, POC and POD, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds. Destroy and uncreate everywhere you are forcing your body and not listening to it. Right and wrong, good and bad, POC and POD, all 100, shorts, boys, POVADs, creations, bases and beyonds. What would happen if you were out of control, out of definition, out of form, structure and significance, out of linearities, concentricities and limitations with your business, ideas, projects, relationships, everything? What if the key to better sex wasn't about technique — it was about learning to feel your own body again? Taryn Toomey, founder of The Class, joined me live at Eudaimonia to break down how 13 years of somatic movement quietly rewired her relationship with pleasure, sound, and receiving — and why the two aren't as different as you'd think. From faking orgasms in her 20s to purring her way through her "delicious" 40s, Taryn gets raw about her two-year stretch of only receiving oral sex, falling deeply in love after divorce, and what it really means to let someone in — body and soul. Don't forget to watch the full video podcast on YouTube! In this episode, you'll learn:  • Why the sounds you make in a workout and the sounds you make in bed come from the exact same place — and how unlocking one unlocks the other • How Taryn's two-year "oral sex only" era taught her more about receiving, boundaries, and her own body than any relationship ever did • The one breathwork tool that works both in The Class and during sex to get out of your head and back into your body — instantly And if you want to dive deeper into Taryn's work after listening, we've got a little gift for you.
