The Chicago Police Department won't launch recruit classes for at least two months — fueling complaints that Mayor Brandon Johnson is reneging on his promise to exempt public safety agencies from a citywide hiring freeze. And at an emergency Cabinet meeting Tuesday, Chief Operating Officer John Roberson ordered other department heads to identify personnel cuts — beyond reductions already made — and submit proposals by Friday. The goal: $75 million in additional savings in 2025. Each department head will be given a specific budget number to reach in what city officials referred to as an “exercise.” Departments already had been required to cut 3%. But now “they're saying that doesn't go far enough. They need to find another $75 million,” said a source at the meeting where Roberson lowered the boom. The source said the mayor's office expected no support in that effort from unions or City Council members.

William Farwell, all had sex with Sandra Birchmore at varying times and places, despite loving families at home. Matt Farwell has been charged with murder for strangling Sandra to death in her apartment.Robert Devine survived a steep demotion due to a previous, rancid, public marital cheating scandal (not involving Sandra). Devine was demoted from Deputy Chief to Patrol Officer for his behavior. In this episode, Shavaun Scott discusses the ongoing trial of Karen Read. The conversation highlights numerous inconsistencies and questionable actions in the prosecution's case against Read, leading to significant doubt about her guilt. Scott explains that the expectation for law enforcement and prosecutors to present an impeccable case is not being met, especially with the mishandling of key evidence such as the reversed video footage. The discussion explores the possibility of either sloppy police work or a misguided attempt by the police to make the case against Read more compelling, which ironically raises more red flags and doubts. Scott suggests that Read might not have intentionally murdered John O'Keefe but was too intoxicated to remember hitting him accidentally. The conversation also delves into the broader issue of the justice system prioritizing winning over uncovering the truth, leading to distortions and potentially unjust outcomes. Main points from the conversation: The prosecution's case against Karen Read is fraught with inconsistencies and mishandled evidence. The reversed video footage presented by the prosecution undermines their credibility. There is a significant expectation for law enforcement to present a flawless case, which is not being met in this trial. The possibility of either sloppy police work or intentional manipulation of evidence is discussed. Read might not have intentionally killed O'Keefe but was too intoxicated to remember the incident. The justice system often prioritizes winning over discovering the truth, leading to distorted cases. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Dom welcomes in Springfield Township resident Angelina Banks, who spoke out yesterday at a town commissioners meeting against the council's continued legal appeal to remove thin blue line insignia from their vehicles. Banks discusses her disappointment in the town, telling why she chose to speak out, explaining the unconstitutionality and the waste of taxpayer funds in an effort to make a political statement, one that she fears will only further drive good police away from her town.
