In the latest episode of Doctor Who: Too Hot For TV Dylan is joined by Ross from the podcast General Witchfinders. Together they explore the wild world of the 1977 Doctor Who annual. After that they venture into territory not yet explored by too hot for tv, in that it is both televised and not Doctor Who at all. But as always they answer the burning questions: What is Darth Vader doing in a  video shop?What links tramps and BBV? Why is it a snatch heavy year for Doctor Who? 

In this episode Dylan is joined by Richie from I Hate Doctor Who, together they explore two different eras of spin offs. First up they look at the BBC audio 'Doctor Who and the Pescatons' starring Tom Baker and Elizabeth Sladen. After that they  look at the Big Finish box set 'Old Friends' featuring Christopher Eccleston as the ninth Doctor. And as always they answer the burning questions: Which Doctor Who story is actually an A24 film? What is a Kyrnoid made of weed? Why will Ben Verth kill Richie? 

In final episode of 2023, Dylan is joined by Conrad Westmaas to take a look at the 1977 Doctor Who Weetabix promotion. They also look at the 1996 BBC audio play ‘The Ghosts of N-Space' by Barry Letts and starring Jon Pertwee, Elizabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney. This week It Was a Thing on TV is taking a trip to Saturn in the TARDIS because we're going on a Sci-Fi theme because it's lonely out in space.   First, we continue Pilot Month 2021 with a look at K-9 and Company. Doctor Who has had its fair share of successful spinoffs.  One whose pilot aired but didn't get picked up was K-9 and Company in 1981 at the Beeb.  It looked good and they brought back Elizabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith for it, but something happened...   Then, with the Oscars having passed we look at an award show from years past. 1977 was a big year in science fiction movies, thanks to two little movies called Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  Those films might have been the big winners that night, but The 1978 Science Fiction Film Awards also gave us one of the most memorable performances in history.   Remember to follow us on our socials over @ItWasAThingOnTV and for any show suggestions or feedback send them to itwasathingontv@gmail.com   And I think it's gonna be a long, long time.

April 19, 2020 marks the anniversary of the passing of Elizabeth Sladen who portrayed Sarah Jane Smith in Doctor Who as well as the spin off series The Adventures of Sarah Jane.
