  2. The Death and Life of River Song Series 02: Ace and Tegan   This title was released in March 2025. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 31 May 2025, and on general sale after this date. Ace and Tegan have been plucked from their twenty-first century lives and stranded in 1860. But who is responsible, and why is River Song mixing in nineteenth century society too? Somebody is out to eliminate the three of them, as Ace and Tegan realise that this may not be their first meeting with River. Their lives are entangled, and to escape, somebody must pay the ultimate price... 2.1 Castaways by James Moran Adrift in the past, Ace and Tegan are looking into supposed hauntings on London's new underground railway lines. But how and why are they there? Their memories are not what they were, and they are about to encounter River Song, perhaps not for the first time. One thing is certain - River knows more than she is telling! 2.2 Driftwood by Roland Moore Back in her TARDIS travels, Ace is cut off from the Doctor, on a stricken spaceship with sixty minutes to live. Something has invaded the vessel - something that travels along wires and can control its metal structure. As time runs out, Ace's only hope may be a mysterious woman with a blaster and fantastic hair. 2.3 Dead Rising by Roland Moore With the Doctor and Turlough on ice, Tegan faces interrogation from the Pilot of Vrexel colony. Something is making the colonists drop down dead... Tegan claims she is just in the wrong place at the wrong time. But when River Song arrives and the dead start rising, Tegan's problems get a whole lot worse... 2.4 The End is the Beginning is the End by James Moran River, Ace and Tegan must stop Gregor Ganley from changing their past again, and again... and again. But he's always one step ahead. And River's new friends want to convince her that assassination is not always the best option. But first, they have the matter of imminent certain death to deal with... **Please note: the collector's edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,250 copies**

review This title was released in April 2024. It will be exclusively available to buy from the Big Finish website until 31 May 2024, and on general sale after this date. Mysteries come in all shapes and forms. From a small-scale murder to an alien conspiracy. But when they arise the Doctor, Tegan, Nyssa and Adric are the perfect team to deal with them. The Merfolk Murders by Tim Foley (4 parts) St Andrews, Scotland, 1940. The Merfolk are a university society meeting through the summer to discuss murder mystery stories. Innocent escapism during wartime, they say. Their latest book is The Casebook of Orion Hood - whose hero is all-too-familiar to the Doctor... When a real-life murder occurs soon after their gathering, the Doctor's friends encourage him to investigate. Is one of the Merfolk responsible? Was this crime the result of espionage or envy? The Doctor must embrace his deerstalker once more and solve this wartime mystery - before the killer can strike again! Dream Team by Lizzie Hopley (2 parts) “Welcome to Concordium! The one-stop destination for elite and effective corporate bonding.” A protected wonder of space is being exploited for ‘company away days' but when the Doctor, Tegan, Nyssa and Adric land to challenge the organisers, they fall into a web of perfectly tailored nightmares. As the Doctor confronts one of the most dangerous monsters in existence, one that uses your own mind against you while it feeds, his companions fall deeper into the trap and a nasty truth is revealed - you can die in dreams. This release comes with a bonus audiobook download: Meanwhile, Turlough by Jonathan Blum. **Please note: the Collectors' Edition CDs are strictly limited to a pressing of just 1,500 copies**

1986 saw the release of the first two Companions of Doctor Who novels, original full-length books rather than novelizations of Doctor Who TV serials. There would only be one more after this one. Harry Sullivan's War was written by Ian Marter, who died tragically young, on his own 42nd birthday, just a couple of weeks after the book's release. Jim Sangster rejoins me as the guest for this week's book -- and also wrote this week's theme song! A video for Jim's son is found here. Song written by Jim Sangster and sung by Antony Owen. The first 8 minutes are an audio essay about the 1986 baseball season. If you're not a baseball fan, you will be after hearing this essay (or not). Having wrapped up the "Key to Time" season, Ken & Mike move forward into the Eighties ... or is it still the Seventies? That's right, if there's a UNIT dating controversy going on, they must be covering the Fifth Doctor era and "Mawdryn Undead"! There's a lot to discuss this month, including the introduction of Turlough, the return of the Brigadier, and a genuinely great villain - no, not the dude with the dead bird on his head, but the title character of the story! And, of course, lots of walking up and down hills. Plus, Ken talks a bit about his recent work for the upcoming Doctor Who-themed "Magic: The Gathering" set, so it's a jam-packed episode this month!

Tread Perilously's annual Doctor Who months returns with the 20th Anniversary special, "The Five Doctors." When the Doctor discovers his previous selves are being plucked from time, he sets the TARDIS for Gallifrey. Meanwhile, on the Time Lord homeworld, The First, Second, and Third Doctors are reunited with friends and companions to brave the Death Zone -- a region of the planet host to deadly games and the Tomb of Rassilon, the greatest figure in Time Lord history. Will they discover he was a mad tyrant or will his wisdom aid the Doctors in defeating their true adversary?  Episode writer Terrance Dicks gets compared to Robert Holmes. His references to Doctor Who history throughout the story also get examined. Justin disagrees with pairing the Second Doctor and the Brigadier. He also doubts the show was a phenomenon in 1983. The pair discuss the unending 80s revival and Tegan Jovanka's new look for the special. The unfortunate role for Sarah Jane Smith in the episode, Susan's almost-unacknowledged place in Doctor Who history, and the Welsh countryside also earn some chatter. Erik plants the idea of Tom Hiddleston as a younger First Doctor in Justin's mind. Actor Richard Hurndall, who plays the First Doctor in the special, gets a review all his own. Justin evaluates Turlough and a proposed new "Five Doctors" quickly becomes "The Six-and-a-Half Doctors."

Welcome to the 2023 season of Nature Magic. It is hard to believe we are on episode 68 and have spoken to all those incredible nature advocates. This year we are changing it up a bit, we are focusing on crafts as a medium to connect people to nature. This series was sparked from a new project that is in progress at Burren Nature Sanctuary. We obtained a Leaser grant towards some audio artworks to help interpret the biodiversity of the Burren around the walks. The three sculptures are a 7 foot Ladies Tresses Orchid at the Meadow, a large dragonfly at the Turlough and a stone badger in the karst limestone habitat. Each sculpture will be accommpanyied by a wind up audio feature in five languages. As the new series topic is so visual we are adding a you tube video to each episode so you can immerse yourself in world of the craftspeople and see the process. We are moving from fortnightly to monthly episodes to accommodate the extra work in editing the videos. Our first guest is Davin Butler from Butler Sculputre. Davin is the youngest sibling in the butler family. He started sculpting in his teens and continued to do so part-time throughout college where he studied web development, before realising he wanted to do sculpting full-time. He draws inspiration and techniques from the rest of the family and focuses mostly on nature, the ocean, and people. He likes tribal and mythological art, and tries to blend this into the medium of copper.Davin has also been experimenting with applying different coloured enamels to his sculptures. His work has been displayed in galleries across Ireland, as well as in the 2 Michelin Star restaurant; Aimsir, in Kildare. We have loved Butler sculpture for many years and are delighted to launch our new series with Davin Butler as our guest. Please check out the you tube video on the Burren Nature Sanctuary channel,https://youtu.be/f21tsAmnO8Mas it is a lot of fun to see how Davin is building the large Ladies Tresses and also to take a sneaky look into the workshop and see the other pieces in the exhibition room. And call to see us when we reopen on April 1 and hopefully we will have up to three new sculptures installed!Contact Davin Butler at www.butlersculptures.comContact Mary Bermingham atmary@burrennaturesanctuary.ie Check out Burren Nature Sanctuary at www.burrennaturesanctuary.ie Support the Nature Magic Podcast athttps://www.patreon.com/naturemagic Show website www.naturemagic.ie
