Det här är berättelsen om bandet som bröt ny mark, men allra mest drömde om att få en stor hit. Hösten 1974, New York. Dokumentären är gjord av Stefan Sundberg våren 2023Producent Joanna KorbutiakExekutiv producent Lars TruedsonSlutmix Fredrik NilssonProgramledare Siri HillMedverkande: Janne Lagerström och Gustav StjernqvistHuvudsakliga källor som använts som underlag för dokumentären är böckerna “Hey Ho Let´s Go: The Story of The Ramones” av Everett True, “Commando: The Autobiography of Johnny Ramone” av Johnny Ramone, “Ramones I Sverige” av Sven Lindström, Janne Lagerström, Petter Lönegård & Kjell Magnusson samt dokumentären “End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones” (2003).Ljudklippen i dokumentären kommer från dokumentären “End of the Century” (2003), Tomorrow Show (1981), The Noise (1989), Modern Rock at the Jersey Shore (1995), Howard Stern Show (1996), Brass Tracks - A Punk Documentary (1977), The Year Of Punk (1978), The London Weekend Show (1976),

Here it is!!! Matt & Scott finally get to the first proper release on Creation. (Quality takes time, right??!) Your hosts debate the merit of the (much-maligned-in-its-time) record that started it all, and then they talk to the man himself, JERRY THACKRAY a.k.a. THE LEGEND! a.k.a. EVERETT TRUE. Best known for his writing in the NME and Melody Maker, as well as for his and books on NIRVANA, WHITE STRIPES, and THE RAMONES, Mr. Thackray is a fascinating and Zelig-like character. And we LOVE his later (post-Creation) EPs (links below), so you'll hear a few clips of those as well. It's a sprawling and wild ride, but trust us, it's worth sticking around for the whole thing. There's music, there's sadness, there's drama, there's brushes with fame. It's got everything, even a live song. On this Jace Everett interview, Jace talks about finding Jesus at a young age, and then “opting out” of religion... dropping out of the music business for 5 years to raise his son and provide for his family... losing his publishing deal, his record deal and going through a miserable divorce - all at once!… Backstory to his new records, favorite song he wrote (NOT what you’re thinking), being a dad, understanding how others hear him (and don’t hear him), forgiveness, France, loads more. SUPER cool and intelligent guy Jace Everett dropped out of Belmont University to become a full-time musician. He then moved to France, had a son, then dropped out of the music business for 5 years. Made a bro country album that flopped - but it did have a song called “Bad Things” on it. In 2008 HBO stumbled upon “Bad Things” and made the song the theme to “True Blood.” Since then, Jace has made 6 full length albums and an EP as an independent artist. He’s toured all over the world, has dozens of sync placements in film, TV & ads... cuts with artists from Nashville, Texas, Canada, Norway, Australia and the UK. He has 2 new records , “Lost in the Flood” created with Norwegian guitarist Amund Maarud, and an Ambient record called YLEM. Both albums are great Support this Show: http://www.everyonelovesguitar.com/support Subscribe https://www.everyonelovesguitar.com/subscribe/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EveryoneLovesGuitar/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/everyonelovesguitar/

Everett True is a freelance music critic and author. Born in England, True was involved with several key British music magazines throughout the 1990s and 2000s, including NME, Melody Maker and Plan B. He moved to Brisbane in 2008 and immediately made a name for himself by deriding popular bands such as Silverchair, The Vines and Savage Garden as “musical abominations” in a memorable article for The Guardian. At the time, these comments caused significant waves among the Australian music writing fraternity. As an arrogant, opinionated young writer myself, it took some time for me to see past True’s brash, abrasive style of writing and view him as a real person with real feelings. Over the years, we became friends and colleagues, supporting each others’ work as freelancers and forming an unlikely bond. Besides his work as a prominent music critic, True is an accomplished author, having written books on Nirvana, Ramones and The White Stripes. More recently, while living in Brisbane, he has been a PhD student at Queensland University of Technology, and when I met him at his home in the western suburb of The Gap in early June he had just submitted his PhD thesis. You’ll hear his children running around and playing nearby, as we talk about how he failed English in high school, the Blondie song that first endeared him to pop music, the origins of his pen names, his tumultuous relationship with alcohol, and the time when he pushed Kurt Cobain in a wheelchair in front of tens of thousands of people at Reading Festival in 1992. Everett True is a former editor of Melody Maker, VOX, Careless Talk Costs Lives and Plan B in the U.K. He has written for more rock publications than most people can name. He is the author of several books on rock music featuring Nirvana, Ramones, The White Stripes and others, and was a key writer covering the rise of Nirvana and the Seattle scene in the early 1990s. Nick Cave described one of his live performances as "more entertaining than Nina Simone," while Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs called him "the coolest man in England." The Gossip's members say he's the most important music critic of their generation. Jerry Thackray, or rather his pen name Everett True, is a name synonymous with quality music journalism and rock’n'roll spirit. The Chelmsford-born music journalist’s life is a stream of experiences with guitar music’s biggest names from Alan McGee to Kurt Cobain. He has written for the NME, Melody Maker and the Guardian. Here, he picks the eight tunes he couldn’t live without when thrust into the lonesome desert and talks me through his early years, the changing face of music journalism, why he was sacked from NME and his relationship with Nirvana.
