You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. You can have a full social calendar and an empty heart. You can be in a relationship and still feel like nobody really knows you.In this final message of the Shuffle series, we explore the loneliness epidemic using Red Hot Chili Peppers' iconic "Under the Bridge" and God's design for connection found in Genesis 2 and 3.We discover that loneliness isn't a flaw - it's a design feature pointing us toward what we were made for: authentic connection. We learn that we were designed not just for any connection, but for deep connection where we're fully known and fully loved. And we see how sin entered the world and made that connection incredibly difficult to find.Through the cross, Jesus defeated isolation and created a family where the lonely finally belong. Whether you're lonely in a crowd, isolated in your own home, or just tired of pretending you're fine, this message offers hope: You weren't made to do life alone, and you don't have to.

Ash Soan is one of the most sought after session drummers in Britain, who has worked with the likes of Adele, Taylor Swift, Seal, Billy Idol, Tate McRae and so many more. Ash's 5th gig was Woodstock '94 with the band, Del Amitri and then went on to support Van Halen (which was my first concert) and Bon Jovi. Recently, Ash has been touring with Snow Patrol and Tori Amos. Ash has also been collaborating with Ariel Posen and are releasing their self-titled album together- available now on Bandcamp. Ash came through my hotel in London to meet up with me on his way to Heathrow to fly out to Abu Dhabi for a show with Snow Patrol. From the lobby of my hotel, in this convo we go in on how Ash achieves his legendary drum tone, how he created his unique studio "The Windmill," and more. I remember Ash for being one of the first to start using high quality audio on Instagram in his VF15 videos and it's inspiring to watch him continue to play and work on his sound. We are On The Go! My guest today is a Gen X legend and someone I've been a little bit obsessed with ever since I saw her star in the definitive (late) 80s movie, Say Anything. Ione Skye. There was a time when It seemed like if there was a hot young actor - John Cusack, River Phoenix, Keanu Reeves - she got to snog them on screen. (I know, shallow, much.) Ione has spent her life in the centre of the Venn diagram of film, music and celebrity. The daughter of 60s superstar Donovan, she famously dated Red Hot Chilli Peppers' Anthony Keidis finding herself both babysitter and breadwinner at just 16. She followed that with an ill-fated marriage to Beastie Boy Ad-Rock (Adam Horowitz). But there is so much more to Ione than all those male name drops. She has starred in some of the most significant movies of their generation. She has worked with the likes of Sofia Coppola, Chloe Sevigny, Lena Dunham and Madonna. She's written children's books, directed short films and is an accomplished painter. Not to mention podcaster. (She hosts the podcast Weirder Together with her partner, Ben Lee.) Oh, and I do just have to say that as a child she only lived next door to the iconic writer Eve Babitz! Anyway It all adds up to one fascinating tumultuous story. One she's addressed extremely candidly in her new memoir, Say Everything. See what she did there? Ione joined me from LA to talk about growing up in the 80s and 90s, being a nepo baby before nepo babies were a thing, having it all, losing it all and getting some of it back, what she's learnt from her Gen Z daughters and finally coming into herself in her 50s. * You can buy all the books mentioned in this podcast at The Shift bookshop on Bookshop.org, including Say Everything by Ione Skye and the book that inspired this podcast, The Shift: how I lost and found myself after 40 - and you can too, by me. * If you enjoyed this episode and you fancy buying me a coffee, pop over to my page on buymeacoffee.com. • And if you'd like to support the work that goes into making this podcast and get a weekly newsletter plus loads more content including exclusive transcripts of the podcast, why not join The Shift community, come and have a look around at www.theshiftwithsambaker.substack.com • The Shift (on life after 40) with Sam Baker is created and hosted by Sam Baker and edited by Juliette Nicholls at Pineapple Production. Today we are joined by one of the biggest pioneers of pirate radio Sue Carpenter. This chat is around the brand new documentary titled 40 Watts From Nowhere that tells the crazy tale of how her and a band of misfit creatives in the 90's illegally tapped into the Los Angeles airwaves and started a station of their own known as KBLT. It was secretly broadcasted from her own apartment and she spent years of hiding from the FCC as they continued to grow in massive popularity to the point they were getting high profile bands such as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers secretly lead to her home because they wanted to be part of the movement. We talk to her about everything from the moment she first flipped the switch and connected to the airwaves, all the way to her thoughts on the current state of independent media. This story is punk rock to the f**kin core and I dedicate this interview to my fellow indy podcasters / content creators out there doing there thing.
The life of Michael Parenti is truly extraordinary, as he witnessed two significant cultural movements that changed the word. Growing up in Malibu, he went to school with the likes of Sean Penn and Charlie Sheen, met a young Madonna before she was an international star, hung out in Bob Dylan's house, and saw live acts like Nirvana and Red Hot Chilli Peppers long before MTV made them famous. As an internet entrepreneur, he became involved with the Bitcoin Foundation and also saw the early days of Ethereum. He attended hundreds of events, spoke with some of the people who are completely unapproachable today, and found himself in the middle of something magical, naive, and revolutionary. In this episode, we talk about the backstage politics that Michael Parenti witnessed and what it was like to believe in the cyhpherpunk dream more than a decade ago. Happy Halloween! On Eavesdroppin' comedy podcast this week, Geordie & Michelle look at Halloween cemetery stories plus the death of River Phoenix - a Halloween Gawn Too Soon… Have you heard of the Magnificent Seven? Not the Western, but London's magnificent seven private cemeteries with hauntings galore! In honour of Halloween, Geordie recounts some cemetery folklore, starting with the story of L. a wealthy publisher from the early 1930s who had a ghostly encounter atKensal Green Cemetery with an old flame… She then investigates the Highgate Vampire, some scary black magic encounters, dark figures, stakes through bodiesand more! Michelle then follows with one of the most hauntingly tragic deaths of the 1990s – River Phoenix. On October 30, 1993, Hollywood actor River Phoenix had come off a day of shooting and was hyped to go Johnny Depp's LA club, The Viper Room, to jam with his mates, including Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. But things didn't work out as planned and instead of playing on stage with friends on Halloween, River ended up dying on the pavement outside the club from a deadly speedball. What happened that night? Who gave him the speedball? RIP River. So pop on your headphones, grab a brown lemonade and join Geordie & Michelle for this week's episode, plus chit-chat about Couples Therapy, Dan the Post, telly recs and more, only on Eavesdroppin' podcast. Gen is back on her We Didn't Start the Fire train... except that this time, someone did indeed start the fire. The Woodstock festival of 1999 was one for the books. Well known artists like Willy Nelson, Kid Rock, Korn, and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers took the stages. But it wasn't their amazing performances that would make this festival go down in history. Instead, what would be remembered was the glimpse the world got into an apololyptic nightmare.
Send us a Text Message.A look back on Woodstock 99 on the 25th anniversary from MJ's perspective who was there in the trenches from the previous day until the end. I talk about smuggling beer and water , the first day that ended with DMX, Korn and Bush, the increasing anger that went until Saturday..Limp Bizkit's set and did they set if off ? Overflowing toilets, sexual assaults , Rage Against The Machine , Metallica ..the last day where Willie Nelson kicked it off and Godsmack crushed it..how a vigil for Columbine went so wrong, the riot and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers helped burn the place to the ground ..followed by a hilarious story that broke the tension after 5 days of Heaven and Hell Follow us at Reality Redemption on Facebook, Instagram, Threads and Tik Tok

Artist, musician, academic, and member of legacy American experimental band ONO Conor Tomaka joins the show once more, but with a specific purpose this time around. John Frusciante is already a God-level figure in the oeuvre of Safety Propaganda, but this time we are going back to the virtuoso guitarist of the Chili Peppers and experimental solo artist's infamous and masterful first two albums: Niandra Lades and Usually just a T-Shirt and Smile from the Streets you Hold. Both of these albums were recorded on a 4-track tape recorded in the early '90s when Frusciante was closing in on death due to intensely high and daily usages of heroin and crack cocaine. Video documents of the artist at his home show the once handsome and vivacious punk rock LA kid as a death shadow of his former self: cheeks sank all the way into his jaw, teeth falling out, ghastly white and pallid, anything resembling muscle tone vanished. He was disintegrated, and these albums are gorgeous-avant pop ballads disintegrating into the abyss. Niandra was partly recorded in Frusciante's bedroom at the mansion where he and the Chi-Peps recoded Blood Sugar Sex Magick at night time, and the second more ambient and abstract side was recorded after he'd left the band and plunged into addiction. Smile was recorded during similar sessions, he says, and includes vocals by the ghost of the late movie star and brother to the current greatest American actor Joaquin – River Phoenix. While both albums are masterpieces in differing ways, channeling Frusciante's enthusiasm for Beefheart, Zappa, Syd Barrett, and other weirdo troubadours, it is only Niandra that is still reissued and available for purchase. Frusciante has let Smile fall into obscurity – perhaps it is just too painful for him to listen to. Hail Frusciante. PATREON LINK OST (All songs by Frusciante) "The Big Takeover" "Smile is a Rifle" "Your Pussy is Glued to a Building on Fire" "Blood on my Neck from Success" "Height Down" (featuring River Phoenix) "The Ni**er Song" "The Poppy Man" LINKS: Follow Conor on Instagram Buy John Frusciante's Niandra Infamous John Frusciante Heroin doc John Frusciante live at All Tomorrows Parties, 2005
In 1991, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers retreated to a mansion with Rick Rubin at the controls and forever changed the direction of their funky spaceship. Suddenly, actual singing, meaningful lyrics and (whisper it) ballads were on the table. Some fans felt cheated: what were their funky heroes playing at? But it mattered little, because the rest of the world finally jumped on board. Is it a classic? Is it too long? Is it funky enough, or too funky? Join us as we unravel the heady stew that is Blood Sugar Sex Magic. Support the showTwitter - https://twitter.com/mccartneyinWebsite - https://mccartneyingoal.com/

Rubin logró relanzar a muchos grandes artistas en sus momentos más bajos, y descubrió a otras grandes promesas.
