I'm excited to introduce this week's guest, Ben Reuter. He's an expert in movement, and he helps people to treat it as a lifestyle, rather than just one more thing to tick off your to-do list. Ben is an excellent guest with loads of great stories, and I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did. Movement is a big part of my life, but I'm not sure if I ever really thought about it until I had this conversation with Ben. Movement (whether it's walking, running, or kickboxing) is a huge part of my mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It's not just exercise. It takes me places, teaches me things. It's made my life a better experience. About Ben Reuter Ben Reuter, Ph.D. is an exercise physiologist teaching at a regional university. He is active as a practitioner, lifetime mover, and athlete who has delved into the world of podcasting with @_mov2liv and @fitlabpgh. Ben believes movement should be treated as a lifestyle...not just an activity because movement is part of what makes life complete. The idea for the Moving2Live podcast came from his interest in listening to long-form movement-related podcasts that were directed either towards professionals or the general public. The human body is built to move in all kinds of different ways, through many planes. Modern training, however, ignores all but front-to-back and sometimes side-to-side movement. For maximum resilience, and to thrive anywhere, add natural movements that train all planes. These are the fundamentals that help you transfer your fitness work into everyday life. Meet our guest Ben Reuter is a natural movement specialist with certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). Ben has interests in injury prevention/performance enhancement for endurance athletes and uses movement to enhance quality of life. After extensive travels throughout the country, Ben realized movement is a lifestyle, not just an activity because movement is part of what makes like complete.
