Drainage Before Detox: Why Your Cleanse Made You Feel Worse - Episode 331

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! You've been sold the three-day cleanse, the celery juice, the tea with a coupon code. And you've probably also heard a doctor say detox is nonsense because your body already does it on its own. Both are missing the same thing: drainage. In this episode I break down — in plain language — what detoxification actually is, what drainage is, and why one has to come before the other. I walk you through the machinery: the liver, the kidneys, the bowel, the skin, the lungs, and the lymph — the system with no pump, which moves only when you do.Then I get into what changes in midlife. Liver capacity drops. Glutathione declines. Kidney filtration slows decade by decade. Motility slows, and low estrogen and low thyroid make it worse. Estrogen influences how your gallbladder empties and how thick your bile gets, which is why gallbladder issues climb for women at exactly this stage. Menopause isn't only hot flashes and broken sleep. It's a drainage story.I also cover:- Liver phase one and phase two — and the reason phase one can make you feel worse before phase two catches up- The emunctories — your organs of elimination — and the order you have to open them- Biotherapeutic drainage and UNDA: the early-1900s European lineage behind Nebel, Discry and Reuter, and how a plant tincture paired with a homeopathic metal actually targets a specific organ- MTHFR, methylation as a phase two pathway, and my own genetics — held without the internet's drama- Where drainage costs nothing, and the free daily practices I'd start with- My own experience with cysts under the arm, and how I read it- Why emotional stagnation is a terrain too, and what it means to drain the soulNothing here is medical advice. I'm giving you breadcrumbs — take them to a qualified practitioner, one trained specifically in drainage. If this one lands, share it with one person and hit follow. It genuinely helps the show get found.Support the showInstagram:  https://www.instagram.com/sandyknutrition/Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/sandyknutritionTikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@sandyknutritionYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIh48ov-SgbSUXsVeLL2qAgRumble:  https://rumble.com/c/c-5461001Linkedin:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/sandyknutrition/Substack:  https://sandykruse.substack.com/Podcast Website:  https://sandykruse.ca

What if the biggest obstacle to great patient care wasn't a clinical problem at all — but a zip code? At Your Health, patients on opposite ends of the same zip code could mean an hour of unnecessary drive time, surprise visits, and the slow erosion of trust every time a provider couldn't say exactly when they'd arrive. In this episode, Jamie sits down with Whitney Dillard, ACT Executive Director, and Alexis Reuter, Executive Director of Training, to unpack how a homegrown scheduling tool changed everything. Both came to healthcare from unexpected places — Whitney challenged her CNA boards without schooling; Alexis started at a spa front desk — and that outsider's clarity shows in how they rethought the entire scheduling experience. In this conversation, you'll hear: Why scheduling by zip code was quietly sabotaging both providers and patients The "aha moment" when a tool went from nice-to-have to non-negotiable How real care managers were brought in to "break the tool" and shape what it became Why predictable scheduling rebuilds trust in a patient's most sensitive space — their home How proactive, geolocated visits make preventative care actually work in rural Georgia and South Carolina Press play to hear how the right tool — and the right team — turned scheduling into a competitive advantage for patient trust. www.YourHealth.Org

The US Government wants to be the ones who control AI regulation In a new policy document, the White House lays out seven key objectives for the singular US approach to AI. In summary, the framework places significant responsibility on parents for issues like child safety and lays out relatively soft, nonbinding expectations for platform accountability. They say centralizing the policy will remove "unnecessary barriers to innovation" and allow AI policy to reflect national security and foreign policy. Like we've seen with social media platforms, the framework also tries to prevent any state laws that make the AI developers responsible for their users' actions. When it comes to copyright, the framework leans on 'fair use'. Amazon might get back in the phone game Reuter's is reporting a project known internally as “Transformer” is looking to create a phone.

This month we are delighted to be in conversation with Thomas Reuter, a Professor at the Asia Institute of The University of Melbourne. His research focuses on transformative social change, food systems, and transitions to sustainability in Asia and beyond. He is on the board of the World Academy (WAAS) and serves as the Chair of the Existential Threats and Risks to All InfoHub (EXTRA). In this conversation we learned about Thomas' academic development and how he got interested in extractivism as a concept. Thomas has worked extensively in Indonesia, especially looking at the food systems and the devastating effects of plantation agriculture. Thomas gives us some insight into the enduring colonial legacy in modern extractivist ventures. We started the conversation learning about the changes in Indonesia over the past several decades, from the dominance of subsistence agriculture to “modern” monocultural agriculture. The knock-on effects from this “development” extend to land use, health, labor relations, and the rise of cash economies, among many others. We discussed the role of consumption and our societal values and their environmental impact. Join us for this wide-ranging and insightful conversation!! We remained electrically on the rails, ever closer to the show's mission, if there is one.

Quotes from the episode:   "Better isn't a goal, it's a direction." "HVAC can feel like a house of mirrors for homeowners, and the cure is transparency plus measured results." "We're not trying to find the perfect contractor. We're trying to find the contractor who keeps learning and won't get complacent." In this episode of the Building HVAC Science Podcast, Eric Kaiser flips the script and brings Bill Spohn on as a guest alongside Kevin Hart from Better HVAC and Darren Reuter and Huff Hoffmaster from Rewiring America. The group lays out a shared problem: homeowners face a significant information disadvantage when buying HVAC, often making a five-figure decision with no easy way to verify quality beyond marketing, promises, or price. That gap leads to mistrust, inconsistent outcomes, and too many "box swaps" that miss sizing, duct performance, commissioning, and homeowner education. Better HVAC exists to tip the odds back toward the homeowner by connecting people to contractors and individuals who commit to doing measured, commissioned work, and by aggregating trusted educational resources in one place. Rewiring America adds the consumer education and electrification planning layer, plus a push to scale adoption responsibly, with real contractor standards behind it. The partnership ties those strengths together: instead of building separate directories, they align on a shared pledge and a badging approach that helps homeowners and peers filter for contractors who are trained, insured, licensed, and willing to follow best practices, especially for heat pumps and whole-home electrification journeys that also include weatherization and energy auditing.   Rewiring America's website: https://www.rewiringamerica.org/ BetterHVAC website:https://betterhvac.org/ BetterHVAC Pledge: https://betterhvac.org/pledge   Huff's LinkedIn :https://www.linkedin.com/in/thomas-huff-hoffmaster-ii-766b3a36/ Kevin's LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevinrhart/ Darren's LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/darrenreuter98/ Bill's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/billspohn/   Corbett's list: https://homediagnosis.tv/hvac-installers     This episode was recorded in January 2026
