MISSING THE BULLSEYE: With the recent release of the Disney+/Marvel Studios show, Hawkeye, many saw similarities with the classic Hawkeye run by creators Matt Fraction and David Aja. It was soon revealed that, despite being a spiritual adaptation of the Fraction/Aja run, there was no compensation for those creators aside from mentions in the "Special Thanks" in the closing credits of the show. I've been watching that Hawkeye TV show too. It is, regrettably for Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye continuing to exist at all, pretty good. Hailee Steinfeld is incredible. Vera Fermiga is incredible. The Fraction/Aja run of comics is one of the few that I've actually read (pay David Aja dammit), and they are good. But none of this changes that Hawkeye should have died in Endgame. I also remember in Infinity War, Clint practicing a bow with his daughter, and people at the time thought that was a hint that his daughter could be the Kate Bishop Hawkeye, just maybe with a different name. But I guess that was just him playing bow and arrow with his kid. Anyway. This time, Corey (@Modandrocker) and Bamboo (@ANN_Bamboo) join me to talk about the 26th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chloé Zhao's Eternals! When I we first covered the first few issues of Hawkeye a while back we mentioned that we might come back to it. I didn't finish it right away, but eventually I did, and I came across a three issue arc that I dubbed "The Grills Trilogy", or "Grillogy", and I felt we had to cover it. We ended up needing to cover a few additional issues to really capture the essence of an unsung hero of this series, Grills. We recorded this the week before the Hawkeye Disney + show came out, (Spoilers for episode 2 coming in the next sentence) but when it turned out the guy that ended up with the Ronin costume at the LARP event was Grills, I got really sad. If you haven't read issue 9 of the Fraction Hawkeye run that we cover in this episode, you'll see why I was sad soon enough.
