Total THB has always felt like a living piece of your imagination—something that evolved alongside you. Now that you're returning to it after thirty years, what does it mean to finally see it presented as the definitive version you always envisioned?7. In your introduction, you mention artists like Bruegel, Motherwell, and Rodin alongside Kirby, Moebius, and Miyazaki. That's a fascinating cross-section of influences—how do you see Total THB sitting at the intersection of those worlds now?2. In your introduction, you talk about the seed idea—“small things exploding into big things.” How has that core concept shaped your storytelling and visual philosophy across your entire career, and how does it feel to return to it now with decades of experience behind you?8. Total THB is set on a divided Mars, a world of art versus bureaucracy, chaos versus control. Given how global politics and culture have evolved since the '90s, do you see new relevance—or new warnings—in the story's setting and themes?5. The relationship between HR and THB—the sheltered daughter and her enigmatic bodyguard—feels both intimate and mythic. How do you see their dynamic now, and what new layers do you hope readers discover in this remastered edition?6. You've described superheroes before as modern myths — figures that blend pulp with poetry. Having moved between corporate superhero universes and your own creator-owned worlds, what do you think mainstream superhero comics could still learn from the spirit of self-publishing that birthed THB*?*

Mr Ice Cream Man (1996) was chosen by Patreon supporter Helen, and is a perfect example of the kind of deep-cut oddity that makes their way into the Year of the Stitch-Up. Directed by Mack Hail and co-written with Jim Mills, this low-budget horror outing was produced by Jeremy Settles with executive production from Hail, Mills, and Yvette Hoffman. Released straight to video, the film leaned into the 1990s boom of VHS horror, serving up a mix of camp, gore, and uneasy humor. The cast featured Henry Weckesser, Jim Mills, Cindy Reed, and even Hail himself in a supporting role.Shot on location in Las Vegas, Nevada, the film made use of everyday suburban backdrops to heighten its eerie and unsettling vibe. While it never received mainstream attention, Mr Ice Cream Man has since earned a small cult following among collectors and fans of obscure horror. Its scrappy production values and surreal tone give it that unmistakable 90s direct-to-video flavor, making it a quirky gem in the world of independent fright flicks. If you enjoy the show, we have a Patreon, so become a supporter here.Referral links also help out the show if you were going to sign up:NordVPNNordPassTrailer Guy Plot SummaryA quiet neighborhood. A summer heatwave. And one man with a frozen secret…From director Mack Hail comes a twisted slice of 90s VHS horror — where sweet treats turn sour, and the ice cream truck's jingle is the sound of fear. Starring Henry Weckesser, Cindy Reed, and Jim Mills, Mr Ice Cream Man (1996) serves up a chilling tale of small-town terror with a scoop of pure indie grit. This isn't the Ice Cream Man you've heard of. This is something darker. Something stranger. Something you'll never forget…Mr Ice Cream Man — once you hear the music, it's already too late.Fun FactsMr Ice Cream Man (1996) was directed by Mack Hail, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jim Mills. The film was shot on location in Las Vegas, Nevada, giving it a distinct 90s suburban horror feel.Director Mack Hail not only worked behind the camera but also appeared in the film in a supporting role. The cast featured Henry Weckesser, Cindy Reed, and Jim Mills — the latter of whom also co-wrote the film.Mr Ice Cream Man was produced on a very modest budget typical of direct-to-video horror films of the mid-1990s.Executive producers included Hail, Mills, and Yvette Hoffman, who all helped push the project through independent distribution channels. The film was released straight to VHS at the height of the 90s home-video boom, making it a cult collector's item today.Despite being overlooked at release, it has gained a small cult following among fans of obscure horror cinema.Unlike the similarly titled 1995 film Ice Cream Man starring Clint Howard, Mr Ice Cream Man (1996) is a completely separate production with no connection to the earlier movie.Today, Mr Ice Cream Man is celebrated in horror fan circles as an example of DIY filmmaking that captures the gritty, experimental spirit of 1990s indie horror.thevhsstrikesback@gmail.comhttps://linktr.ee/vhsstrikesback
On this episode, we start the spooky season early with a very questionable “horror” movie, Ice Cream Man. We talk about the behinds the scenes, Clint Howard, and the questionable decisions they made making the movie.

We're sticking with the work of Don Coscarelli, and going back to the classic that made his name; “Phantasm”. A film in which Angus Scrimm shows that, despite being older, he can still shoot his balls round corners; we learn how to make some of the most dangerous improvised explosives outside of the Anarchist's Cookbook; and we meet a Jawa with a porn-moustache. Coscarelli's third feature film, made independently over 2 years with a cast and crew of mostly friends and family, would go on to be a staple of the horror section in video shops for the next decade, with its striking poster image (entirely unrelated to anything in the actual film) burned into the minds of a generation. Unlike a lot of its VHS counterparts; “Phantasm” is an utterly unique beast; a horror/sci fi hybrid with surreal set pieces and a mythology that obfuscates the more it reveals; coupled to a domestic coming-of-age story of two orphaned brothers (and their singing Ice Cream Man buddy). It would follow the route of successful 80s horrors in spawning a franchise, but this too would be unlike any others, with (mostly) the same cast returning each time, the story being picked up pretty much from where the last film left off, and lore explorations that again only deepen the mystery. Earl and Taboo on Ultimate Hawkeye one-shot - September 24, 2025 - Indigenous Voices book 1. Ultimate Hawkeye #1 is the first solo one-shot of the new Ultimate line — what excited you most about giving Charli Ramsey their own spotlight outside of Ultimates?2. Taboo, you've mentioned this issue is dedicated to your Indigenous relative Jeffrey Veregge — how did that dedication influence the tone or themes of the story?3. The reveal of an all-new Ultimate Ronin is huge — without spoiling too much, how did you want to reimagine this identity for the Ultimate Universe?4. You've both tackled grounded, character-driven Marvel stories before (Daredevil & Echo, Werewolf by Night). How did those past experiences shape your approach to writing in the heightened, alternate-reality stakes of the Ultimate Universe?5. This book also has a framing story by Deniz Camp and Juan Frigeri — how did you coordinate with them to make sure the one-shot felt both self-contained and part of the bigger Ultimate Endgame build-up?6. The Ultimate line has always been about bold reinvention — what's one thing you think this current era is doing better or differently than the original 2000s run?7. Michael Sta. Maria's art really pops in the preview pages — what kinds of visual cues or storytelling beats did you build into the script knowing his style?

Hello and welcome back to another episode of B Bin Horror! On this week's episode we talk about the 1995 Horror/Comedy, Ice Cream Man! Ice Cream Man was written by Sven Davison and David Dobkin and directed by Norman Apstein. The film stars Clint Howard, Olivia Hussey, David Naughton, Jan-Michael Vincent and David Warner. On this week's episode we talk about the film, two times actually because the first time Dylan forgot to press record. We also try to fill the plot holes with our own theories which one included teleportation amongst other things. If you like what you hear please follow us on Instagram and Facebook @bbinhorror. You can also send us emails at bbinhorror@gmail.com and please don't forget to subscribe to B Bin Horror on whatever podcast platform you listen on! *B Bin Horror theme music - "Uprising" by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio*
As long as there have been poets, they have been writing war elegies. In this episode, Mark and Seamus discuss responses to the American Civil War (Walt Whitman), both world wars (W.B. Yeats, Wilfred Owen, Rudyard Kipling, Keith Douglas) and the conflict in Northern Ireland (Michael Longley) to explore the way these very different poems share an ancient legacy. Spanning 160 years and energised by competing ideas of art and war, these soldiers, carers and civilians are united by a need that Mark and Seamus suggest is at the root of poetry, to memorialise the dead in words. Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay decide to get high on their days off as they talk about the comedy classic, 'Friday.' Andy starts off the hot summer day by recalling the time he used to cop off an ice cream man, and much like Smokey and Big Worm, he got behind in payments. Then the guys dive in on one of the great hang flicks that perfectly captures the eclectic mix of characters you grow up with in your neighborhood. They reminisce about parents that would lock their kids out, households that would have one of something but never the other, and getting high with your friends while you're unemployed. Of course, the movie is helped by an insane comedy cast that included John Witherspoon that advised "nobody go in that bathroom for about 35, 45 minutes," and an undeniable star-making turn from Chris Tucker. Add in a heaping of hilarious eclectic characters, prime Nia Long, and more quotable lines than the '90s could contain, and you have an endurable film that ages finer than Mrs. Parker in jean shorts. This episode is guaranteed to leave you laughing ... and you know this, mannnn.

Lee is back with the second of his three-part look at slasher films from North America produced in the 1990s. As the genre went on to the middle of the decade it still seemed directionless, throwing whatever at the wall and seeing what sticks, and often just trying to do what worked in the 1980s... until a little film called "Scream" appeared on the scene. --Dylan Tells Heather About Chase & And Now Heeeere's Freddy from "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" (1994) --J. "Don't be afraid to fail. I think that when people see us, they see all the success and see where we are at. But we've failed so many times and I think that's what keeps me going.” Master P Ryan Clark, Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor sit down with Hip-Hop legend and entrepreneur Master P, who joins the guys to talk about his rise from the third ward projects of New Orleans to becoming a music mogul to businessman to creating an empire for his family while sharing the power of perseverance and giving back. A conversation filled with so many life lessons, stories and experiences, the guys really get into the ins and outs of what has shaped Master P into the man he is today. Long before he became known as the “Ice Cream Man”, Master P breaks down his early hustles, how he turned a $10,000 loan into a thriving business, why he refused a $1Million music deal from Jimmy Iovine and the lessons in understanding your worth. Being a savvy businessman was a day one trait for Master P who always emphasized ownership, financial literacy and capitalizing on talents to create a career path. Sharing inside perspective into his early relationship with Snoop Dogg, P explains how he gave the blueprint of ownership and power in freedom by helping him with Death Row Records. We all see the success in the journey, but sometimes the heartache along the way is what really defines our path. From losing his brother at a young age to the passing of his daughter a few years ago, Master P gets real about mental health struggles, especially in the black community and why the pain of losing a child never goes away but it does keep him focused on his mission of building awareness, encouraging acceptance and providing resources for those who face similar situations. Speaking with Ryan about the unconditional bond of parenting, Master P is honest about the ups and downs of this relationship with son Romeo and how family dynamics challenge us all to have faith, forgiveness and find ways to overcome adversity. His relationship with God guides his journey as he continues to be passionate is in his purpose. After being cut from the Charlotte Hornets, Master P talks about life-changing events as he pivoted from sports to music and points to the one moment that impacted him deeply. Mentoring today's youth and setting an example for future generations is at the forefront of all P does through his music, business endeavors and community service. Tap into this impactful conversation for a true story of rags to riches, the importance of gratitude and never giving up on the things that drive us to be better humans, parents and examples in culture and society.
