We're here again with another Trve. Cvlt. Pop!, a music podcast. On this week's show Steve and Gaz look at the rest of the albums that they really enjoyed during the month of May and give you full reviews on the latest releases from Kamasi Washington, The Lemon Twigs, Bring Me the Horizon, Crowded House, Vince Staples, Shellac, Iglooghost, Rotting Christ, Buffalo Tom and Friday Pilots Club.Plus we remember a classic late 90's lost trance banger from Rest Assured (with a little help from The Verve) and we look at the mental crap 30 Seconds to Mars are trying to flog to people during their recent London shows. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Chicago band Friday Pilots Club (Caleb and Drew) jumped in the Mazda CX-9 (on loan from the spectacular team at The Autobarn Mazda of Evanston) for conversation and food from Red Hot Ranch (3057 N. Ashland). Discussed this week: The Mazda CX-9 lends itself to an Iron Chef-type scenario. Bands need protein. Friday Pilots Club's winning the national next2rock competition, earning them a record deal with Big Machine Label Group. The band's reaction to being judged by the likes of Chris Jericho and Jonathan Davis. The night of the finals: What went on in their heads? Drew's laptop died like a Viking. The parade that welcomed Friday Pilots Club back to Chicago after their win. Next steps for the band: Album recording with a producer? The bands songs to-date. My favorite song, "Gold and Bones," an exercise in vocal calisthenics. "Bad as Hell": It's a sex song. Swagger is a key ingredient of the band's total package. Caleb's crotch issues on stage. Friday Pilots Club needs more fog on stage.

Kyle and Brandon of Chicago band (and Chicago #next2rock finalist) Midwave join me at Budacki's Drive In (4739 N Damen Ave, Chicago, IL 60625) for hot dogs and conversation. Come to Cubby Bear on August 30 to see Midwave, Like Language, Friday Pilots Club, Take the Reins and the Giving Moon compete in the local #next2rock finals! Discussed in this episode, presented by Boost Mobile: The 2 members of another #next2rock local finalist, Like Language, just got married. Does that put pressure on Midwave? The tyranny of ketchup. WHO'S AARON?? Midwave comes through in the clutch! Last minute booking heroes! Midwave is defiantly uncategorizeable. I don't play songs; I jam them. The benefits of "cold calling" established musicians. Midwave's OKGO connection. Brandon's mom ghosted him on Facebook. The neighborhood near Lawrence and Damen is improving: Dante's Pizza is there now! The importance of local music neutrality. SYNTH BATMAN Ace the Bat-Hound vs. Krypto the Superdog: "No one ever knows Ace!" Classic rock: A midwestern rite of passage. You can buy Zeppelin shirts at Kohl's. PARKER! People in Chicago are completely desensitized. Midwave's metal past.
