We celebrate the 40th anniversary of KISS's Asylum album by taking a look at the Bruce Kulick era of KISS.In 1984, after a series of revolving door guitarists came and went, Bruce Kulick became the permanent lead guitarist for the band during their non-makeup era and brought some stability to the veteran band. He also helped bridge the gap between the group's classic sound and the 80s "hair metal" sound that was hip and "rad" at the time.Jeff Hogland (Classic Rock Bottom) and me take a deep dive into the 5 studio albums that Mr. Kulick recorded with KISS: Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot In The Shade, Revenge and Carnival Of Souls. And of course, we get into all the backstage drama and shenanigans that goes along with KISS in the 80s and 90s.Just don't look too closely at the band's Asylum-era stage outfits, because, well...they don't say that Gene Simmons looked like Golden Girl Bea Arthur for nothing!

"The way that people talk about immigrants in the news media affects those internalized stereotypes and, also, real fears that construct or limit somebody's mobility." In this episode, Dr. Mario Alberto Viveros Espinoza-Kulick and Dr. Alex Espinoza-Kulick explore how the news media impacts the content and context of health access and decision-making among Latinx immigrant and Indigenous communities. They remind us that we need more immigration policies that center the health, well being, and dignity of migrant communities. Their research emphasizes the interconnectedness of immigration policy and public health, urging policymakers to evaluate immigration laws based on their impact on the health of communities, especially immigrant and Indigenous peoples. This episode references the article titled "Immigration Policy is Health Policy: News Media Effects on Health Disparities for Latinx Immigrant and Indigenous Groups" by Mario Alberto V. What's the status of this Hank Brown from Auburn, and is he the only QB the Hawks want to bring in? And who will return for a final year in Iowa City that could be huge pieces for next years roster? The Hawks chalk another in the Win column this past weekend with a successful Homecoming game against Northwestern. A slow start saw Brendan Sullivan, the hot topic of the past few weeks, come into the game to replace Cade after a hard hit, and bad interception. Sullivan would finish out a quiet 1st half and return as the starter for the 2nd where Iowa exploded for 4 total TDs in quarter 3 and a runaway victory. Sullivan was effective statistically, but maybe more importantly provided juice for the team. We discuss all of this and why Brendan needs to be the guy permanently this season, as well as the Defense getting back to their standard against the Wildcats, and the special teams coming up with some massive plays as well.If you love the show and want to show support, tell your friends! Hawks could not get it done on Saturday. Close at half time, and then the flood gates busted loose in the 3rd quarter sending the Buckeyes to an ol fashion routing of Iowa in the Shoe. We veer from our normal recap episode format where we outline and recap the major drives/plays from the game. We instead take a broader look at the disparity between these 2 teams and really Iowa and "Top 10 teams" over the last few seasons trying to decipher an answer as to why they haven't been able to compete. We look at the nuance, becauase there is a lot of it, to what role BF had on the previous 2 years, how all time bad the offense was and the hole that dug us that we could come back from, the reality of being in a first year Offense with Lester, the difference in NIL money spent on the 2 rosters in question, and much more.If you love the show and want to show support, tell your friends! Floyd is back in Iowa City! The Hawks came out a bit slow, following the tale of to halves blueprint that they happened to have followed each of the 4 games this season. We discuss why coming out of halftime the boys looked like a completely different team both Offensively and Defensively, which allowed them to seal the deal early in the 4th quarter. Is Kaleb Johnson a legitimate Heisman contender? Has the D fixed their issues? How are we continuing to run the ball without a vertical pass game? We talk GBone's top 25, if certain coverages would better suit Iowa's secondary to protect against some of the big plays that they have allowed, and some beefy five layer action. We sit down to break down the game from Saturday as the Hawks come back from a halftime deficit to beat Troy 38-21. A game that many walked away from with a weird inconclusive feeling. We discuss why this win doesn't 'feel good' even though the stat sheets say differently. We talk about the blunders on the Defensive side of the ball, where we've seen big plays hurt the Hawks in back to back weeks, and a huge mishap on special teams which is usually the area that Iowa dominates in. We break down the Offense and how Kaleb Johnson is currently a Heisman contender, and how Cade actually played well despite a general feeling of lackluster-ness from his position. We talk passing game and how it needs to evolve moving forward, seeing Brendan Sullivan for the first time, and where things need to be heading in to Floyd week.If you love the show and want to show support, tell your friends!
