Today, our Savior is assuring us, "In Me, you may have peace." Peace is our inheritance, it is our privilege, and it is our right as children of God. This episode launches a series about walking in victory where it comes to the activity constantly happening between our ears. The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, so come explore with me what it looks like to be Spirit-focused in our thought life!
Up To Jerusalem - Teaching 12 Scripture: Psalm 91,John 14:15-31, John 15, 1 Peter 4:12-13, Acts 14:22,Matthew 10:22, 2 Timothy 3;12, Matthew 5:10-12. Psalm 91 tells us that our God can be trusted. This psalm has words that Jesus depended on and held onto as He headed Up to Jerusalem. He was able to face the trial, trouble and tribulation that came on the road to the cross. Our story today picks up with Jesus saying, “If you love me, keep my commands.” This is not about earning eternal life, it's about our relationship of love with The One who showed His love for us at the cross. As we love Him we show that in genuine obedience (keep my commands). God's desire is that we mature in faith and that our very lives reflect Him through our speech and behavior and that we model Christ's example. Then Jesus shares that He will send an Advocate to help. This Advocate is the One who speaks truth. A counselor, encourager, comforter who will help us and be with us forever - The Holy Spirit. God's supernatural presence and power in our lives. We are not called to live a life believing that God exists - we are called to live a supernatural life - we are called to live a life utterly dependent on the presence of God the Holy Spirit in our lives. Jesus assures His disciples and us that we are never alone. Jesus says, “I am in my Father, you are in Me, and I am in you.” (This is relationship). Jesus goes on to tell them the Holy Spirit (The Advocate) is coming and will be with us, and then He encourages them not to worry or be afraid. These words are for us today - He will never abandon us - We can trust Him. Jesus tells them He gives them peace - not the kind of peace the world gives, but His peace. Shalom. Shalom describes a relationship with the Living God where everything is done in harmony with His plan and purpose. It is supernatural peace. And we are encouraged to allow it to overwhelm our hearts and souls. As we continue reading Jesus tells us He is the True Vine, and God the Father is the Gardener. Pastor addresses a concern that most Bible translations may have this line inaccurately translated. Most Bibles say the Gardener “cuts off” branches that bear no fruit. However, let's explore how a vineyard gardener actually cares for a vine with branches that are bearing no grapes. What he does is he lifts up the branches from the ground and brings them into the sun, lifting them up and securing them in a way they can produce fruit. Pastor believes this is what Jesus is saying here - that this is not a word of law, but instead a word of comfort. Jesus says “every branch IN ME that is not producing fruit, the Father lifts up so that it can produce fruit. Pastor's argument is this: the Bible translations tell us Jesus says, “the Father cuts off every branch IN ME that bears no fruit .” But then Jesus says if you abide IN ME you will bear much fruit.” Where is continuity in these verses? Let's take a look at the original Greek. The verse says: “He “airō” every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He “koptō” to make it even more fruitful.” The words used in the original Greek are airō and koptō. airō can mean to cut off but the primary meaning of the word is to be lifted up. koptō means to be cut off (pruned). As we learned earlier those who care for grapevines - tell us that a grapevine only produces fruit when it is lifted up from the ground and lifted into the sun. When we are in Jesus and not producing fruit, the Gardener (the Father) lifts us up, airō us up into the “Son” so that we will produce fruit, we are not cut off but lifted up. And when we are producing fruit the Gardener prunes, koptō us so that we will produce even more fruit. When we remain in Jesus - the Vine - we will bear fruit because the Father - Gardener - lifts us up and prunes us so we produce more fruit. Jesus goes on to talk about: ⁃ True joy ⁃ Loving others ⁃ That He calls us “friend” ⁃ Answered prayer ⁃ Persecution These are the things Jesus shared on the night He was betrayed and arrested because He loved His disciples and He loves us and He wants us connected to Him - abiding in Him and prepared for what is to come. When Black Orchid Empire have new music, we all pay attention. They create huge, memorable rock music that combines heavy-hitting savagery with intense melodic beauty. Their technical, fearlessly complex grooves and gigantic sing-along choruses have already earned them a widespread fanbase. It's not just on record though either, as they are a ferociously tight live band. Having toured Europe and the UK extensively, supporting Skunk Anansie, HED P.E, INME, Cellar Darling and Black Map as well as festival slots at Download, Standon Calling, Tech Fest, Teddy Rocks and Planet Rockstock. Following on from album releases with Long Branch Records and Season of Mist, the band have now sign with a brand-new label and have released the song ‘Angelfire', the first single from their upcoming album. The single release also comes ahead of their highly anticipated Spring UK tour. We spoke to guitarist and vocalist, Paul about the new single. Not just delving into the creative process but finding out more about the band's long-term plans and why it is so exciting. We also talk about how Black Orchid Empire have got to this point in time, the work that goes into creating something, being so ‘hands on', and so much more. Welcome to our Shovavim Humility series. We've been going through the progression of the Galut . We started off that when the Jewish people came into Mitzrayim, Yaakov Avinu was only a Ger, as ut says, לגור שם ,and the brothers came as Gerim . Then, as is quoted in the Hagaddah Shel Pesach, from Ki Tavo, וַיְהִי שָׁם לְגוֹי. / They were a nation, which means שֶׁהָיוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל מְצֻיָּנִים שָׁם. גָּדוֹל עָצוּם כְּמָה They were outstanding, they were gadol . They were great . And it quotes from the pasuk They multiplied and they were strong. They were strong, very, very much. The land was filled with them. But the next pasuk says, וירעו אתנו מצרים And the Egyptians did evil to us." Why? What happened? What caused the change? They went from ' Lagur Sham,' to 'they're doing evil to us ?' The Maharal Diskin explains (based on Midrash Tanhuma Shemot letter six) that it says וַתִּמָּלֵא הָאָרֶץ אֹתָם / the land was full with them , meaning שנתמלאו בתי טרטיאות ובתי קרקסיאות מהם, מיד גזרו עליהם / The theaters and circuses were full of them. They were no longer in their ghetto of Goshen . The land was full of them means they no longer felt like they were immigrants and aliens. And מ יד / immediately, says the midrash, the decree came against them. But what's wrong with going to a theater and a circus? There was probably separate seating, and everything was kosher. And the answer is, it no longer qualifies as Galut. You are no longer humble. You feel you belong everywhere. We went everywhere. We were no longer in Goshen. We spread out all over the place. Rav Shimshon Raphael Hirsch on Shemot 1,12 where it says ויקצו , says the Egyptians were disgusted with them . Why? Because wherever they went, Jews were there. When they went to the theater, there were Jews there, when they went to the circus, there were Jews there. But we don't belong there. It's like the private golf course that used to say, No Jews Allowed, and now they're there and everywhere . And we don't belong everywhere! That is the job of the host nation- to make us feel, Hey we don't belong here. I once heard a beautiful thought from Rav Elya Brudny. He asks, Why is it that if you're at the Bronx Zoo and some nice family is there on a Chol Hamoed trip, and the kids leave the ice cream wrappers on the floor, the people say, " Oh my gosh, look at those unruly people!" And they roll their eyes and snicker. But if some immigrant from another country does the same, they don't say anything. Why are we being held more accountable? He answered with a mashal : When you're in your own house, and you decide to leave your robe and pajamas on the floor in your bedroom, that's okay, It's your bedroom. You can do whatever you want. But if a guest walks in and leaves their shoes in the middle of your living room or whatever it may be, it's a little odd. What are they doing? They're a guest. They don't belong here. And the nimshal is, we don't belong here . The reason we can't do things that other people can do is that we don't belong here. This is Galut . We're only sojourners. And the job of Galut is to remind us to be humbled. The Sefer Aperion , a commentary on Chumash from the author of Kitzur Shulchan Aruch the says on the pasuk וַיִּרְבּוּ וַיַּעַצְמוּ they were strong, בִּמ ְאֹד מְאֹד /they were very powerful. What does it mean In Me'od Me'od And he says that when the Torah says in Devarim 6,5 ובכל מאודך Rashi, based on the Mishna says it means with all your money. So ויעצמו במאד means they became very wealthy . And when you become very wealthy, you now have a lot of capabilities. You're able to travel, you're able to do things. And that's when they started feeling overly comfortable. The Meshech Chochma tells us a beautiful, almost prophetic thought, written 10-20 before the Holocaust. In his commentary on Vayikra 26,44, he says, what happens in history is that the Jews go to a new country and after being there a little bit too much time, ישכח מחצבתו ויחשב לאזרח רענן, יעזוב לימודי דתו, ללמדו לשונות לא לו, יליף ממקלקלתא ולא יליף מתקנתא They forget where they came from. And they think of themselves as very comfortable citizens and they start to forget their religion. He was talking about the German Jews at that time, who were extremely cultured, and he said, יחשוב כי ברלין היא ירושלים /they think Berlin is like Jerusalem. And he says, when that happens, אז יבוא רוח סועה וסער, יעקור אותו מגזעו: /A tornado of a wind will come , and uproot them from where they're rooted . This is something that repeats itself. History repeats itself. And this is the history of Galut . As was once said, Those that do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it. It was that way in the Spanish Inquisition. It was that way throughout the generations. Whenever the Jew forgot that he was a stranger, that he was a sojourner, they'd come and remind us that, as we started our class with, Galut is in the eye of the beholder , and the eye of the receiver. We must view ourselves as, I don't belong here, I'm a stranger. I have to keep a low profile and not demand anything because I'm a visitor. But once we start demanding, feeling, What about my rights? What about my xyz… it's a problem. Of course, we live in a democratic country, and we want to have rights, but we have to understand that deep down, this is not where we belong. And as long as we have that understanding, we can go back to a quiet, serene galut like Yitzhak Avinu's Galut . But once we start feeling, Hey, this is mine, the problems start. This is an important lesson in how to receive Galut and how to stay safe in Galut .

Please rate & review The Movies on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever else you listen to the show! --- In ME, MYSELF AND THE VOID, Jack (Jack De Sena) discovers his stand-up comedy routine has a rude punchline: It's not real. Jack is actually passed out on his bathroom floor and the comedian we see is Jack's mind, stuck in his subconscious alongside an imagined version of Jack's best friend, Chris (Chris W. Smith). Said space, which I assume to be the titular void, is just that: darkness, broken only by what looks like a literal Memory Lane, a winding road peppered with spotlights and trinkets from Jack's life, including his Toyota Corolla (It's no Camry, but we'll forgive him.) Now Void Jack and Void Chris have to solve the whodunnit of what happened to K.O.'d Jack, and how to connect mind and body before the void consumes them both. Do they need to possess Jack's body to call for help? What unresolved business with family, friends or ex-girlfriend Mia (Kelly Marie Tran) might Jack have to settle? In the void, all shall be revealed, in a humorous, poignant, well-acted-and-produced manner. And for this budget? Shit, it's impressive. --- Follow The Movies on - Twitter: @TheMovies_Pod Facebook: The Movies Instagram: @themoviespod Letterboxd: The Movies or boxd.it/Ptop (looks weird to me too but hey, typing it into Google works)
The last sixteen years of James Baldwin's life (1971–87) unfolded in a village in the South of France, in a sprawling house nicknamed “Chez Baldwin.” In Me and My House: James Baldwin's Last Decade in France (Duke UP, 2018), Magdalena J. Zaborowska employs Baldwin's home space as a lens through which to expand his biography and explore the politics and poetics of blackness, queerness, and domesticity in his complex and underappreciated later works. Zaborowska shows how the themes of dwelling and black queer male sexuality in The Welcome Table, Just above My Head, and If Beale Street Could Talk directly stem from Chez Baldwin's influence on the writer. The house was partially torn down in 2014. Reconciliation is key to healing relationships, rather than resorting to condemnation. God's love and grace provides a path to healing and restoration, challenging us to extend mercy and seek unity. SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts:Your Daily Prayer: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-prayer/Your Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse/ Full Transcript Below: Welcome to the crosswalk devotional. We're glad to have you listening with us. Today's topic is on how to pursue reconciliation above condemnation. You are going to learn today practical tips and the reason why you should not walk in condemnation. We'll return with the devotional after a brief message from our sponsors. Pursue Reconciliation, Not Condemnation written in read by Kelly Balarie for you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. Matthew seven to discipling, a young student, I tried to make truth as plain as possible. I said, judgment is like a boomerang. When you launch it at someone you can expect it to hit them, and then to immediately return and hit you. Judgment always boomerangs back to the one who launched it. A wife speaks mean words to her husband. Before long the husband is saying mean words to her. A critic speaks loudly on social media condemning a church before long comments appear on his post accusing him. A judgmental comment is made about a lady at church. Next week after leaving church, the person that felt judged, now feels judged. Without realizing it, they figure people must be judging me the same way I am judging them. That's what people do after all. Now, the reality of the situation is that judgment might not even be happening towards this person, but it is expected. Why? Because we expect people to treat us the same way we treat them. We assume judgment is happening because we ourselves are judgmental. The feeling of judgment is just as bad as the reality of it. judgment and condemnation are boomerangs that only serve to hit us in the face, for you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged Matthew 7:2. Ouch. Indeed, this truth hurts, but confronting it is less painful than the standard of judgment, we will experience on earth and in heaven. For if Jesus uses the same standard that we have used to judge others, when we meet Him in heaven, there is wisdom in repenting of all the judgment we have inflicted on Earth. Where have you walked in judgment? Have you judged your spouse, your children, your boss yourself? Have you from a point of self righteousness, put other people down in your mind? I know I've done many of these things. Let's take a second and pray. Father, forgive us. We don't even realize sometimes what we're doing. Give us power to walk not with a heart of condemnation, but with a heart of reconciliation, by Your grace. Help us see the good in others. Before we point out the bad. Give us eyes to see hope rather than another person's demise. sound an alarm in us if we are ever to celebrate someone else's misfortune, in Jesus's name, Amen. Intersecting faith and life. My husband I have a saying that comes up when we are arguing. When a finger is pointed and accusing word start flying. We say to the finger pointer. If you spot it, you got it. What does that mean? If my husband says that to me? It means that if I spot a character issue with him, I probably have it in me. How can I know this? I wouldn't be able to recognize it in him. If I wasn't already familiar with it. In Me. We see what we know. It is called projection. What issue that you are quick to see and others may be something that God wants to address with you. How might his word address that issue? How can you change? How might your actions inspire the other person to change to? The crosswalk devotional is a production of life audio and Salem media. My Dearly Beloved Warrior,As the light of dawn breaks through the darkness, bringing with it the promise of a new day, so I speak into the depths of your heart with words of enduring truth and power. Hold closely to your heart the words from Philippians 4:13: "I can do all this through him who gives me strength." This simple yet profound statement is your anthem, a declaration of the divine empowerment available to you as you navigate the trials and triumphs of life. You are My warrior, called and equipped not with worldly strength, which fades, but with My eternal, unfailing power. In Me, you find the strength to overcome obstacles that seem insurmountable, to endure trials that appear unbearable, and to accomplish tasks that seem impossible. It is not by your might, nor by your power, but by My Spirit that you are enabled to stand firm and victorious.Understand, My child, that your strength does not come from your own abilities, your intelligence, or your resources. It comes from Me, your God, who loves you with an everlasting love and who has called you by name. In your moments of weakness, when you feel overwhelmed and insufficient, remember that My power is made perfect in your weakness. It is when you are weak that you are truly strong, for it is then that My power is most clearly seen in your life.I invite you, therefore, to come to Me with open hands and a surrendered heart, ready to receive My strength in place of your weakness. Let go of the illusion of self-sufficiency, for it is a burden too heavy to bear. Instead, embrace your dependence on Me, for it is the source of true strength and freedom. As you face the challenges of today, do so with the confidence that you do not face them alone. I am with you, within you, empowering you to do all things. Whether you are called to climb mountains of difficulty, navigate valleys of uncertainty, or simply walk the path of daily obedience, you can do so with the assurance that My strength is your constant supply.Let this truth fill you with peace and confidence: there is nothing you will face today that you and I cannot handle together. With each step, lean into My strength, for it is limitless and freely given. In every situation, let the words "I can do all this through him who gives me strength" be your battle cry and your prayer. So, rise up, My beloved warrior. Face this day with courage and hope, knowing that with Me, you are more than a conqueror. The victory is already yours, for I am with you, strengthening you, guiding you, and loving you every step of the way. With All My Heart,Your Almighty GodMy Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. My Dear and Valiant Warrior,In the quiet moments before the day unfolds, I draw you into My presence, to remind you of a profound truth that marks your journey. Reflect deeply upon My words in John 15:18-19: "If the world hates you, know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."These words are not spoken to bring fear into your heart but to fortify it with the courage and understanding necessary for the path you walk as My follower. You have been chosen, set apart, not to blend seamlessly into the patterns and pursuits of this world but to stand as a beacon of My light and love. The distinction you carry as My chosen one is both a privilege and a proclamation. It is a privilege because you have been called to bear My name, to embody My values, and to advance My kingdom. It is a proclamation because through your life, the radical nature of My love and the transformative power of My grace are declared to a world in desperate need of hope. The reality of being set apart means that you will, at times, find yourself at odds with the prevailing currents of culture and society. When you feel this tension, remember, it is not a sign that you have lost your way, but rather, it is an affirmation that you are firmly in My grasp, living out the purpose for which I have called you.The world's resistance and rejection, though painful, serve as reminders that your citizenship is in My kingdom, your values are rooted in My truth, and your ultimate allegiance is to Me. This is not your home; you are passing through, leaving marks of My love, seeds of My Gospel, touching lives with My grace. So, when you face opposition, scorn, or misunderstanding because of your faith and your commitment to Me, take heart. It is because you shine My light into the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it. You carry within you the hope of the Gospel, the message of salvation, and the promise of eternal life—a message that is sometimes welcomed with joy and other times met with hostility.Stand firm, My beloved warrior. Let your life be a testament to My unchanging love and My transformative power. Let your words and actions be guided by My Spirit, demonstrating the beauty of a life surrendered to Me. And remember, in every challenge, in every moment of doubt or discouragement, I am with you, empowering you, comforting you, and cheering you on.You are My chosen one, called out of the world to be a vessel of My divine purpose. Embrace this calling with boldness and confidence, for I have equipped you for every good work I have set before you. In Me, you are more than a conqueror, destined to shine brightly in a world that needs the light you carry. With All My Love and Infinite Grace,Your Heavenly FatherMy Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. We continue in the Jubilee series as we look at John 16:32-33 and talk about Jesus and healing. We see that (1) the need for healing should be expected and prepared for. How do we prepare?(A) Cultivate your relationship with Jesus consistently when you are not yet in trouble. "In ME you may have peace."(B) Do not be surprised that trouble comes even if you are surprised by how it comes. "You will have suffering in this world."(C) Do courageous things in preparation for suffering and healing."Be courageous."(D) Live fearlessly understanding that the world is broken but overcome. "I have overcome the world."We also see that we should (2) Pray and take our medicine; and (3) Healing does not equal "moving on" or "getting over it".What happens if healing doesn't come? (2 Corinthians 12:6-10) - Focus on the Healer instead of the healing.
My Precious Child,As you navigate the complexities and challenges of life, let your heart find solace and strength in the words I inspired Paul to write in Ephesians 6:16: "In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." This verse is not just a metaphorical instruction; it's a profound spiritual truth that offers practical, daily application in your journey with Me.In this world, you will face trials, temptations, and attacks that can often feel like flaming arrows aimed at your heart and mind. These may come in the form of doubts, fears, discouragements, or temptations, each seeking to destabilize and weaken your trust in Me. But remember, you are not left defenseless in this spiritual battle. I have equipped you with a powerful weapon – your faith.Your faith, My child, is more than just belief in My existence or an acknowledgment of My sovereignty. It is a deep, abiding trust in My character, My promises, and My love for you. It is a conviction that, regardless of circumstances, I am with you, for you, and in you. Your faith is the assurance of My presence in your life, a tangible reminder of the unseen yet eternal reality. As you take up this shield of faith, understand that it is both protective and offensive. It protects you by guarding your heart and mind against the lies and deceptions of the enemy. It reminds you of who you are in Me – loved, forgiven, redeemed, and empowered. When doubts arise, faith speaks truth. When fear grips, faith brings peace. When temptation beckons, faith provides a way out.But faith is also an offensive weapon. It enables you to move forward in My plans and purposes for your life, to take bold steps in obedience, and to stand firm in the face of opposition. With faith, you can claim victories, break strongholds, and bring My light into the darkest places.I encourage you, beloved, to cultivate this faith daily. Like a shield, it must be lifted and held firmly. Nurture your faith through prayer, through the study of My Word, and through fellowship with other believers. Let each trial be an opportunity to strengthen your faith, as you see My faithfulness and provision in every situation.Remember the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before you – men and women who faced insurmountable odds, yet overcame through their faith. They were not superheroes; they were ordinary people, like you, who chose to trust Me, even when it seemed impossible. They extinguished the flaming arrows of their time, not by their might or power, but by their faith in Me.In moments of weakness or doubt, come to Me. I am your strength and your shield. My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. In Me, you will find the courage, the resilience, and the assurance you need to face every challenge. So, take up the shield of faith, My beloved. Hold it high, let it be your defense and your declaration. Walk boldly in the knowledge that with faith, you are more than a conqueror. You are My child, equipped and empowered to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. With Eternal Love and Unfailing Faithfulness,Your Heavenly Father, God AlmightyMy Reasons To Believe is a publication fueled by its readers' support. In this episode, I begin look at JESUS and the what we receive being "IN HIM" "IN CHRIST" "THROUGH HIM", "THROUGH CHRIST OR HIM", IN WHOM", "BY HIS BLOOD", "IN ME".In the bible: "In him" appears 41 times."In the beloved" 1 time"In Christ" 93 times. In the book of Ephesians 46 timeA total of 135 times. I believe that the Holy Spirit is trying to tell us something and we ought to be paying close attention to every one of them. But the Bible uses many more such language to tell us what we have and received in, through, by, from, of, with, and of course" Himself". Before Covid-19, public health programs constituted only 2.5 percent of all US health spending, with the other 97.5 percent going towards the larger health care system. In fact, the United States spends on average $11,000 per citizen per year on health care, but only $286 per person on public health. It seems that Americans value health care, the medical care of individuals, over public health, the well-being of collections of people. In "Me vs. Us," primary care doctor and public health advocate Michael Stein takes a hard, insightful look at the larger questions behind American health and health care.

"There's 36 In Me, And Only 25 In Him!" - Pastor Craig Field - Sep. 28. 2022 by Promise of Life Church
This Sunday, Pastor Rachel led us in our live services as we continued our new sermon series, Galatians: A People Reconciled. In her message "Part 2: In Me," Pastor Rachel looks at Paul's letter to the Galatians as he shares his testimony and how the Gospel transformed his life from Persecutor to Preacher. Paul's life story reminds us that God is always working in us, and his story serves as an example of the Gospel's power to liberate us from a life of sin and how our own life stories can also free those around us.
