Belfast based Lauren Ann is an alternative, indie artist whose music is packed full of garage rock exuberance and grunge dynamics, brought together with a dreamy pop edge. Having grown up listening to artists such as Nirvana, Pixies and The Cure, Lauren infuses her music with a 90's tinge, delivering a refreshing yet nostalgic sound. Her latest single “Bite” is the second track from her upcoming concept EP. Each song is inspired by one of the deadly sins, with her previous single “Need” symbolising greed and “Bite” focusing on wrath. The songwriter shares, “In a way I've created a character or alter ego who experiences all of the sins in some way. Some of the songs are also about the different types of people I have met in my own life. I feel like everyone has encountered negative feelings of greed, wrath, pride etc. at some point in their life.” Sonically, “Bite” is influenced by the likes of Deftones, The Smashing Pumpkins and Hole. As she chants, “You're addicted to the fear that you create, how could you love so much hate,” Lauren depicts the intense vengeance that comes with wrath. Her raw and powerful vocals are accompanied by clashing percussion, throbbing bassline and a gritty guitar, that further emphasise the destructiveness that is associated with this specific deadly sin. Lauren Ann has already curated a string of notable support slots with artists such as Tom Grennan in Custom House Square, NewDad, Sprints and Twin Atlantic, as well as playing at festivals and showcasing events such as SXSW, Ireland Music Week, Output and Stendhal Festival. 2024 is set to be an explosive year for Lauren Ann, establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with. #Music #Podcast #SocialMedia

Craig Cardiff has been passing around a Book of Truths during his shows and asking his fans to share something truthful in it — a story, a confession, a hope, a secret. The book gives fans a chance to write down something they might be too afraid to say out loud, and it gives Cardiff an opportunity to connect with the people who take time out of their busy schedules to come to a show. Those entries aren’t always easy to read. The stories can be heartbreaking, and they can leave Cardiff wanting to do something, to find the person who wrote in his book and tell them to hold on for tomorrow, that things will be OK. Over the years, Cardiff has found himself writing songs that offer these little bits of hope for people to hold onto, and those songs are now reaching more and more people after he signed to New York-based AntiFragile Music, founded by Tom Sarig, who previously served as a Grammy-winning senior A&R executive at various major labels, in late 2018. Since founding Esther Creative Group, Sarig has worked with some of the most exciting musical artists in contemporary history, including Lou Reed, The Gaslight Anthem, Bryan Ferry, CAKE, the Violent Femmes, Miranda Cosgrove, Twin Atlantic, Blonde Redhead, Bebel Gilberto, and Against Me!, among others. Cardiff’s songs have now been streamed more than 100 million times, and he has been heard on NBC’s award-winning television series This Is Us. This week I am delighted to have the Host of the famous Stayin Inn Quiz, Andy Dunlop which I am sure you will know from Facebook which also featured on the BBC One Show. Andy is a very interesting man. He tells us about his days as a Tour Manager for bands such as Twin Atlantic where they covered 48 of 50 states of the US. While working as a Live events manager he has worked with acts such as Foo Fighters, Spice girls and many more big names. We talk about how Andy pivoted his business and created the hugely popular Stayin Inn during lockdown which has grown arms and legs. The Quiz created such a strong community at a time when people needed it most. They recently helped the Beatson Cancer Charity raise an amazing amount of £30k which is still growing. The episode covers so many topics. I love Andy's Attitude towards life and how overcoming his battle with depression, he now seizes every opportunity that comes his way. Most importantly we discuss Da life and how important his family is to him.

“The way someone like Dave Grohl plays the acoustic guitar… you get a sense of why that song exists.” Gil Norton’s journey from minding the 8-track tape machine in Liverpool to producing global smash-hit albums for Foo Fighters and Counting Crows, not to mention classic records by the likes of Feeder, Throwing Muses, Terrorvision, Jimmy Eat World and Twin Atlantic, has been one of rock production’s stellar success stories. Chris sat down with his friend and colleague to get to the bottom of what makes Gil such a sought-after producer, including his focus on pre-production, commitment to the power of the song, and the experience of making perhaps his most influential album, the Pixies’ Doolittle.
