A battle of the sexes ensues. One Battle After Another loosely adapts Vineland, a novel by Thomas Pynchon. It follows Bob Ferguson, a bomb expert drawn into the terrorist group the French 75. Amid the group's revolutionary chaos, Bob fathers a daughter named Willa with the fiery tempered and uncontrollable Perfidia Beverly Hills. Perfidia also has a complicated relationship with the mannered and single-minded Colonel Steven Lockjaw. She is soon caught during a botched bank robbery, and Lockjaw strikes a deal with her, leading her to name names. Years later, after most of his French 75 cohorts have been hunted down by Lockjaw, Bob is still on the run in Northern California with Willa. Paul Greengrass' The Lost Bus stars Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera as a bus driver and teacher, respectively, who have to navigate a deadly Californian wildfire while stuck on a school bus with a group of terrified children, very little water, and fire and flames closing in on all sides. Based on a true story (the 2018 Camp Fire is one of the deadliest wildfires in US history), it's Greengrass at his intense best, conjuring a cinematic experience that's among the best depictions of the intensity of fire, heat and flames ever put on film. And in this interview special, Chris Hewitt sits down with Greengrass (on Zoom), and McConaughey and Ferrera (in person) to talk about the experience of making it. The film is out now on AppleTV+ and, while this isn't a spoiler special, reference is made throughout to key moments from the movie, so it might be best for you to have watched it beforehand. Respectable. That may be the best thing one can say about the new Dwayne Johnson movie "The Smashing Machine." In this art house sports drama from writer-director Benny Safdie, The Rock plays troubled mixed martial arts fighter Mark Kerr who battles drugs and insecurity as well as his opponents in the ring. Emily Blunt is his impatient, moderately supportive girlfriend. The performances of real-life MMA fighters Ryan Bader, Bas Rutten and former heavyweight champion boxer Oleksander Usyk bring additional authenticity. The stars are fine, but in an attempt to avoid cliches, the movie also avoids dramatic momentum. This low-key, matter-of-fact approach prevents "The Smashing Machine" from scoring a knockout. A true story from California's devastating 2018 Camp Fire is the basis of the Apple TV+ thriller, "The Lost Bus." Matthew McConaughey stars as a troubled school bus driver who attempts to navigate the overwhelming blaze and save the lives of two dozen kids and a teacher, played by America Ferrera. Director Paul Greengrass, best known for the Jason Bourne films, knows how to build tension. With “The Lost Bus,” he's created a realistic and involving nail-biter. In the tongue-in-cheek Amazon Prime crime thriller "Play Dirty," Mark Wahlberg plays Parker, the gifted professional thief from Richard Stark's novel series. What may have worked on the page seems overblown and ludicrous on screen under the direction of action filmmaker Shane Black. After a racetrack heist goes bad, Parker recruits a band of thieves to steal some priceless antiquities and exact revenge on the woman who ruined his previous caper. A good cast is wasted in a bloody, noisy, profane and utterly preposterous crime opus.

Anthony played the role of the outrageous maid/butler Jacob in the stage musical "La Cage Aux Folles".  As an acting teacher, Anthony has taught at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Actors Centre Australia, Screenwise and the Q Theatre in Sydney, Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Melbourne's 16th Street Studios, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), as well as in Los Angeles at TVI Studios, in Brisbane at the Australian Acting Academy, on the Gold Coast at The Warehouse Workshop Screen Acting Studio and in Byron Bay at the Actors Room.  Anthony's thousands of acting students over his 30 year teaching and coaching career include Magda Szubanski, Delta Goodrem, Angus McLaren (Packed to the Rafters), Aaron Glenane (Snowpiercer), Shareena Clanton (Wentworth), Natalie Mendoza (Moulin Rouge) and Stef Dawson (The Hunger Games). Anthony is the most senior Certified Teacher of the Ivana Chubbuck Technique in Australia. Ivana Chubbuck is the world renowned coach of Oscar winners Halle Berry, Charlize Theron and Jared Leto, and Oscar nominated actors Brad Pitt, Jake Gyllenhaal, Catherine Keener, Djimon Hounsou, Kate Hudson, America Ferrera, Elisabeth Shue, Terrence Howard and Sylvester Stallone. Ivana personally trained Anthony over a period of 14 years in Los Angeles and in Australia. Anthony has also worked extensively with master teacher Larry Moss, who is the coach of Leonardo di Caprio, Hilary Swank, Tobey Maguire, Helen Hunt and Austin Butler. The 96th Oscars ceremony is a new opportunity for Latinos and Latin Americans in the moviemaking business to be recognized for excellence in cinema. America Ferrera has earned her first Oscar nomination and Colman Domingo has become the first Afro-Latino nominated for best actor. And yet, representation of Latinos on the big screen has remained stagnant. But there are several Latinos and Latin Americans nominated who you may not have heard anything about yet.
