In 2013 on Prins Thomas’ label, Full Pupp, he released his debut album, ‘Be a Man You Ant’, a cosmic disco haven created with analog instruments, similar to Norwegian peers Lindstrøm and Todd Terje. André since moved in a more experimental direction, exploring techno, electro, down-tempo, and ambient. Playing at the likes of Fabric and Panorama Bar, André is also a brilliant DJ, seamlessly blending tracks that are equally as varied as his discography. Usually coloured with elements of Detroit house and neo-Italo, his sound has given rise to hugely sought after mini-albums—such as 2002’s recently re-released Skateboarding Was A Crime (In 1989)—as well as plenty of functional yet emotive 12”s. Next to his own Digitalo Enterprises label, he has worked on the likes of Sex Tags Mania and Full Pupp, has produced with DJ Sotofett and is no stranger to a sense of fun when it comes to DJing. Midway through December last year he played, as he does regularly, at Fettschmelze in Karlsruhe. More than three hours of the set was recorded and is presented here as a fine overview of Skatebard’s broad skills as a selector. From carefree, key-laced disco to cosmic curveballs via sleek and futuristic house, it is a freewheeling mix that manages to glide effortlessly between sounds and scenes.

Magnus International is a Norwegian producer who is at the forefront of the new wave. Full Pupp have long since been doing their own thing, pushing the boundaries of sonics and modern day club music. It was on Prins Thomas' label that he chose to release his debut LP following a stream of singular EP's. His sound dabbles in the warm textures and sits somewhere between the realms of house and disco. This mix is an exploration into his musical inspirations and a showcase of what you might hear him playing in the club at present.

Ever since the epic space disco masterpieces of early Lindstrom, the electronic music world has looked closely at everything coming from the Nordics. We have also looked north, and found one handsome man named Jarle Brathen – a Full Pupp mate of Prins Thomas and Todd Terje – to contribute to our LUVCAST series. Although his productions are clearly cosmic synth influenced, he looks a lot into House when DJing.
