On this day, in 1918, Ptv. Henry Gunther decided it wasn't over until the last shot was fired. Unfortunately, that last shot took his life.The Last man Private Henry Gunther was the last soldier killed in combat during World War I. He died at 10:59 a.m. on November 11, 1918, just one minute before the armistice went into effect at 11:00 a.m., ending the war. Gunther charged a German machine-gun position in the village of Chaumont-devant-Damvillers, France, despite orders to stop and the Germans signaling to him to halt. He was shot in the left temple and died instantly, making him the final Allied combat casualty of the war. Posthumously, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and had his rank restored after being previously demoted. A memorial in France now marks the spot where he fell, and his remains were returned to Baltimore, Maryland for burial.

Many years ago, when I first started a band, I was instructed, by many people in the know, that the most important thing to do when we played shows was to sign people up for our mailing list. I took this very seriously and handstitched and painted a little booklet where people dutifully wrote down their addresses, with a pen on a ribbon attached to it. We made card stock postcards at Kinkos and sent them out before our shows at places like The Sidewalk Café, The C Note, and one time at The Bitter End. What does it really take to zero out a wild horse herd? In this episode, I take you behind the scenes of the Adobe Town roundup, where the BLM captured far more wild horses than they should have, pushing this herd dangerously close to being wiped out. Though their target was met, the process that led to this moment was far from transparent or humane. I spent five days observing the roundup, witnessing heartbreaking moments. While the roundup is now over, the real damage is done. The BLM has not confirmed whether they will conduct a post-roundup count, and with horses being sent to facilities where public access is restricted, the fate of these horses remains uncertain. Singer, songwriter, guitar player currently working towards her next single release. She is one of the busiest performers in this area, having averaged 334 bookings a year over 2021, 2022, and 2023. In the leadup to this interview she had back-to-back weeks of performing six out of seven days. She has performed at notable venues and events from the Hard Rock here in Tampa to The Bitter End in New York City to the House of Blues in Anaheim, California, where she also played at the massive NAMM Show.
