Raunchy lyrics, makeup, sailor hats, and an endless supply of denim are their most consistent themes. Not to mention having made a name for themselves by being featured in various Jackass related shows (Jackass Number 2, Wildboyz, Viva La Bam). However, despite the band's fun aesthetics, we're not fans of their music. California Mom Charged After Toddler Dies in Hot Car During Cosmetic Procedure A 20-year-old California woman is facing serious charges after allegedly leaving her two young sons in a hot car while she underwent a cosmetic procedure — an act that resulted in the death of her 1-year-old son. Maya Hernandez pleaded not guilty on July 1 to one count of manslaughter and two counts of willful cruelty to a child. She remains in custody at the Kern County Jail, with her bail set at over $1 million. According to court documents and police reports, Hernandez brought her sons — a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old Amillio — to a medical spa in Bakersfield on June 29 for a scheduled lip-filler procedure. That morning, she had called the spa to ask if her children could wait inside with her. A staff member reportedly responded, “Sure, if you don't mind them waiting in the waiting room, hun,” according to local outlet KERO. Despite being allowed to bring them in, Hernandez left the boys locked in her 2022 Toyota Corolla hybrid, strapped in their car seats, while outside temperatures reached 101 degrees. Police say the vehicle was left running with the air conditioning on, but the car — designed to automatically shut off after about an hour — turned off during her absence. The procedure itself should have taken 15 to 20 minutes, but staff told police Hernandez was away from the vehicle for about two and a half hours. During that time, she did not check on her children once, according to police. When she returned to her car at approximately 4:30 p.m., she found Amillio unresponsive, foaming at the mouth, and having a seizure. Employees of the spa rushed out to assist and brought the 2-year-old inside to cool him down. Emergency responders arrived at 4:45 p.m. Amillio's body temperature was recorded at 107 degrees, and he was pronounced dead at 5:48 p.m. His older brother was hospitalized and later placed into child protective custody. Police estimate the boys were without air conditioning in the hot car for at least an hour and a half. During her police interview, Hernandez admitted she knew leaving the children in the car was irresponsible. The criminal complaint states she said she thought about it when she exited the car but had no justification for her actions. A GoFundMe page revealed that the boys' father is currently incarcerated, and he learned of his son's death through a jail chaplain, according to KFSN. Hernandez is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on July 14. Harris, 44, completed his sentence for disseminating harmful materials to minors after previously serving 10 years for sexual exploitation of a child. His murder conviction was overturned in 2022 by the Georgia Supreme Court, citing prosecutorial misuse of evidence. While former Cobb DA Flynn Broady declined to retry Harris, current DA Sonya Allen is reviewing the case. The release has reignited emotions surrounding the tragic death of 22-month-old Cooper Harris. STORY 2: Chattahoochee River NRA seeks public comment The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area seeks public input on an environmental assessment for access improvements at the Roswell Gateway and Vickery Creek Unit. Open for comments from July 1-31, the assessment evaluates two proposals: **Preferred Alternative A**, which includes a pedestrian bridge, trail enhancements, and traffic flow improvements, requiring 2.59 acres of parkland for transportation use, and **No Action Alternative B**, which maintains current management. While the projects may impact park resources, mitigation efforts aim to enhance accessibility and connectivity. Comments can be submitted online via the NPS website. STORY 3: Fourth of July Fireworks: What You Need to Know With the Fourth of July approaching, fireworks stores like Phantom Fireworks in Kennesaw and Sky King Fireworks in Smyrna are seeing a surge in customers. Popular items include Phantom’s $260 Phandemonium and Sky King’s $700 Mic Drop finale fireworks. Both stores emphasize safety, offering tips like keeping water nearby, using fireworks in clear areas, and avoiding alcohol. Firework-related injuries have dropped significantly, thanks to better products and education. In Cobb County, fireworks are allowed from 10 a.m. to midnight on July 3-4 but are restricted near sensitive areas like hospitals and fuel stations. Participants, aged 65-91, engaged in heart-healthy events like walking, bocce, basketball, and cardiac trivia. Marietta’s Mary Lynne Thomas won six medals, emphasizing the joy of staying active despite cardiac conditions. The event, hosted by the American College of Sports Medicine and Georgia Heart Institute, celebrated recovery, community, and perseverance. Wellstar’s team participation was supported by a scholarship, showcasing that cardiac rehab is about thriving and rediscovering joy. Christopher Scholtes made headlines last summer when he was charged with murder in the death of his two-year-old daughter, Parker. Scholtes told police in Marana, Arizaon that he left Parker in the car with the A/C running and went in the house. Police said Scholtes played video games and got distracted. He now faces charges of first-degree murder and child abuse and recently took a vacation to Hawaii.
