Michael C. Shaver and Jack Haxton break down a run of local and national stories, starting with the Department of Homeland Security career expo that was relocated after Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz pressured the Buffalo convention center to cancel it over ICE's involvement. The hosts argue the move cost area residents a shot at federal jobs with pensions, then turn to a proposed Drive Forward initiative that would steer first-time car theft offenders toward job training rather than prosecution, a idea they say rewards the wrong behavior in a region that already ranks near the top of the state for vehicle thefts. From there they cover Canada's renaming of Lake Ontario to Lake America and the reaction to it, Mamdani's reversal on a promised $10,000 bonus for New York City teacher's aides, and Abdul El-Sayed's proposed 7% annual wealth tax in his Michigan Senate run, which Haxton picks apart by pointing out that billionaire net worth sits in shareholdings rather than cash. The conversation closes with a look at how state tax policy shapes where businesses and pro athletes relocate, Joey Chestnut's 241-wing performance at Buffalo's Chicken Wing Fest, and upcoming Financial Guys seminars on tax and estate planning.00:00:00 - Welcome back!00:00:30 - DHS Career Expo Canceled in Buffalo00:04:30 - Drive Forward and Car Theft in WNY00:08:40 - Lake Ontario Becomes Lake America00:12:00 - Mamdani Backs Off Teacher's Aide Bonus00:16:54 - El-Sayed's 7% Wealth Tax Proposal00:21:00 - Tax Policy, Relocation, and Pro Sports00:22:56 - Joey Chestnut at Chicken Wing Fest00:24:00 - Upcoming Seminars and the TFG App

Rizz is preparing for his extremely prestigious duties as a Wing Ding judge, specifically in the traditional buffalo category, which is apparently the kind of responsibility this show has been training him for his entire life. The crew debates proper wing-eating strategy, whether fasting beforehand is genius or idiotic, and naturally gets Joey Chestnut involved in the conversation without Joey Chestnut actually being there to defend himself. Then there's actual rock-star business: Chad Gray of Mudvayne is coming into the studio. That sends everybody down memory lane with LD 50, old Mudvayne tattoos, central Illinois geography and the important question nobody else had the courage to ask: what exactly does “Mudvayne” mean? Welcome to the hard-hitting journalism portion of your favorite funny podcast.September also means Sober September, an idea Rizz immediately rejects because there's a wedding coming up and apparently his liver already accepted the calendar invite. The gang talks declining alcohol consumption, cocktail attire, velvet suits, bolo ties and the possibility of Rafe attending a wedding dressed like a cowboy who recently discovered formalwear. From there, things get considerably less responsible.A conversation about cannabis use turns into stories about modern weed being approximately 4,000 times more powerful than anyone remembers. Lern recalls taking an edible and calling her mom to talk her down. Rizz remembers falling asleep at the helm of a boat. Rafe wonders whether the ecstasy he took in the late '90s has a delayed expiration date. Nobody learns anything. The substance discussion somehow gives way to altitude sickness, canned oxygen and e-bikes capable of sending a teenager to school at highway speeds. With local schools introducing new rules for electric bikes and scooters, the crew reminisces about riding regular bikes to school—the primitive version that required legs, poor planning and occasionally missing first period. And because this is a funny podcast that refuses to behave for more than seven consecutive minutes, we eventually arrive at the day's disturbing collection of public indecency stories. There's an arrest connected to incidents on the Fee Fee Greenway. There's a Steak 'n Shake employee accused of exposing himself while delivering food to a customer's car, leading to entirely too much discussion about what accessories would somehow make that scenario worse. Then comes the truly horrifying revelation that understaffed Dollar Tree locations have allegedly become targets for public indecency incidents.Yes. Dollar Tree.As if retail employees weren't already dealing with enough. The crew dives into reports of understaffing, blind spots, online creep behavior and the increasingly obvious conclusion that some people desperately need hobbies that don't result in police reports. Then Australia enters the chat.Authorities responding to what appeared to be a mangled body stuffed inside a suitcase instead discovered a discarded silicone doll. That launches a conversation about increasingly realistic customizable dolls, AI technology, questionable ethics and one very practical problem nobody puts in the brochure: what exactly are you supposed to do with a roughly 100-pound silicone companion when you're finished with it?Goodwill probably has questions. It's buffalo wings, rock stars, bad weed experiences, e-bike rebellion, bizarre crime stories and technology moving considerably faster than humanity's ability to act normal. So basically: another day at The Rizzuto Show. This funny podcast proudly continues its mission of taking perfectly ordinary news stories and asking all the questions responsible adults had the good judgment not to ask.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

His deep voice and emotional delivery lead to the obvious conclusion that somebody should probably get this man “Ol' Man River” immediately.Keanu's mother, Patricia Taylor, worked as a costume designer for Dolly, including creating the famous black bunny outfit Dolly wore for her 1978 Playboy cover. That outfit eventually made its way into the Reeves household, where teenage Keanu reportedly wore it for Halloween—bunny ears, bustier, fishnets, bow tie, sneakers and all. Somehow, this only strengthens the crew's argument that Keanu Reeves may be next in line for the title of universally beloved celebrity. From there, Crap on Celebrities gets moving with Miley Cyrus seemingly entering her one-name era, discussion surrounding Kelly Osbourne and public speculation about her appearance, and Bad Wolves releasing their metal version of “Jolene.” The crew also gets into the Sphere making The Wizard of Oz even more ridiculous, chart talk, Lionel Richie's health scare following his St. Louis performance, ZZ Top continuing forward, Kelly Clarkson wrapping her talk show, Jamie Pressley's reported hotel drama, and Mel Gibson apologizing after an awkward moment involving a sign-language interpreter. Then Chad Gray joins the show ahead of his 30 Years of Madness stop at Delmar Hall, and the conversation turns into a trip through three decades of heavy music.Chad talks about building a set from roughly 12 albums of material across Mudvayne and HELLYEAH, including deep cuts that force him to keep lyric sheets nearby because apparently even the guy who wrote the songs occasionally needs the musical equivalent of checking his notes. He explains how he's kept his voice intact after decades of screaming and singing, what he learned from vocal coach Melissa Cross, and how his approach has evolved from essentially hitting every note “like a linebacker” to using more technique and finesse. What happens when an Amazon delivery driver sees a cooler of cake pops next to a sign that basically says “treat yourself”? Apparently, you get a social media controversy, an apology, a payment, an angry bakery owner, and millions of people choosing sides over four dollars' worth of dessert. Welcome back to The Rizzuto Show, where today's funny podcast begins with celebrity birthdays and quickly escalates into the Great Cake Pop Incident.First, Rizz runs through another batch of celebrity birthdays, including Zendaya, Gloria Estefan, Billy Blanks, Dr. Phil, Barry Gibb, and Lily Tomlin. Naturally, Billy Blanks gives Rafe the opportunity to explain how knowing Tae Bo has apparently prepared him for street combat. Nothing says “please don't fight me” quite like threatening a man with a dance kick. After dessert-based international diplomacy fails, First Alert 4 morning anchors Claire Kellett and Maurice Drummond join the show to talk about the launch of First Alert 4 on ABC in St. Louis. We compare morning-show schedules and discover that waking up around 2:30 a.m. is apparently a perfectly normal lifestyle choice when you've abandoned all hope of respecting your circadian rhythm.Claire and Maurice talk about balancing early mornings with family life, the changing television business, working alongside people who become family, and what it means to be part of the daily routine for viewers across St. Louis. Maurice looks back on his years covering sports, including Cardinals World Series celebrations, the Blues winning the Stanley Cup, and Mizzou's huge win over Kansas at Arrowhead. FitLife Brands just dropped its Q2 2026 earnings report, showing a massive 65% year-over-year revenue spike to $26.5 million. But behind that explosive headline number lies a much more complicated story of acquisition padding, falling legacy brand sales, and major strategic hurdles. Does FitLife Brands need a "strategic cleanse" to restore true balance? In this comprehensive breakdown, I'll dig deep past the surface-level numbers of the FitLife Brands portfolio. Based on Q2 2026 financial documents and my exclusive notes from the earnings call, I'm analyzing exactly how the company is performing after its massive August 2025 acquisition of Irwin Naturals. I divide the portfolio into Legacy FitLife and Irwin Naturals to uncover the real operational health of the business. While consolidated growth looks stellar on paper due to M&A activity, a sequential quarter-over-quarter growth rate of just 4.8% tells a very different story. Key Topics Covered:Sales Channel Shift: How FitLife has successfully lowered its historic "key customer risk" with retail giant GNC, moving from a digital-first strategy back into heavy wholesale distribution.Legacy FitLife Troubles: Why Legacy FitLife segment revenue plummeted 23% YoY, and how company leadership is using "muddy waters" to obscure individual brand declines.Amazon Algorithm Slump: A look into Mimi's Rock Corporation's low-20s percent YoY decline and FitLife's unexpected partnership with competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut to drive off-Amazon awareness.MusclePharm Misstep: Why attempting to aggressively raise prices on MusclePharm whey protein products backfired, leaving them highly exposed to inflationary commodity cycles without true brand pricing power.Irwin Naturals Silver Lining: Breaking down Irwin's $14.1 million quarter, its rapid 35% sequential expansion into e-commerce, and whether upcoming cost-saving synergies can rescue FitLife's dilutive profit margins. If you are a CPG industry professional, retail investor, or supplement brand builder, this deep dive into functional CPG market dynamics and execution strategy is a must-watch!

This episode is the full breakdown — what periodization actually is, why it doesn't work for tactical populations, and what to do instead. What we get into:Defining the thing first — because not a single person in the online discourse could do it. The NSCA definition: the logical and systematic process of sequencing training interventions to achieve peak performance at appropriate time points. Every version of periodization, whether block, linear, nonlinear, conjugate, or West Side, shares the same five assumptions. The most important one: that biological adaptations follow a predictable course. They don't.Why periodization is a Soviet export — and what that means. Most of the foundational periodization literature is mapping sports science onto communist economic planning. General adaptation syndrome is not a predictive model. It's a descriptive model. Hans Selye never explained what makes something stressful, never told you how much stress causes adaptation, and never specified when the resistance phase begins or ends. Also, his exhaustion phase was death. Not fatigue. Death. The field of stress physiology left him behind decades ago.The Milo and the bull problem — and why progressive overload is almost universally misunderstood. Milo didn't get stronger because the bull got bigger. He was able to lift the bigger bull because he got stronger. The causal arrow runs the other way. What to do instead — navigating versus forecasting. Shorten the prediction window to what the environment actually allows you to control. A week at a time. The low-hanging fruit problem. You've got people debating intricately periodized strength plans for soldiers who are failing a two-mile run where the passing standard is a ten-minute mile pace. Mitch McConnell resurfaces holding the day's newspaper like he's proving to the world he's alive and wasn't kidnapped, which sets the tone for a week where everyone seems to be performing for a camera. The front page of (state-run) newspapers in Iran tout assassinations it has no capacity to carry out. Team USA loses to a country the size of a strip mall while grown men writhe on the grass pretending they've been shot. And Kristi Noem's (former) husband gets caught after nine years and forty five thousand dollars spent on a “bimbofication” fetish, responding to the fallout by texting his mistress a photo of himself in the getup captioned "I've been a really bad boy." Somewhere in the middle of it all, Joey Chestnut eats sixty six hot dogs in ten minutes and barely gets a mention.

Here are all the membership benefits, join now!Show notesThis week our headline topic is a "concussion sensor" being trialled by some teams at the Tour de France, and why it is a welcome innovation, but one that, for now, invites potentially dangerous false hope. We also take a spin through the rest of the week in sport, covering football, cycling, tennis and track and field. Oh, and hotdogs.(00:00:20) The World Cup nears its finale, and Spain utterly outplayed France to reach the final, making fools of our predictions after Gareth handed France to Ross. We get into why the France-Spain dynamic flipped so completely, the scarcity of penalty shootouts this tournament, the mooted expansion to 64 teams, hydration-break ad money paying for the broadcast rights, the ref cam, and the goal-line technology row over the England-Norway "wire" incident.(00:16:18) Following our David Bailey podcast, we ask whether the peloton is simply scared of Tadej Pogačar, whose dominance at the Tour has riders like Ben Healy and Florian Lipowitz shaking their heads in bewilderment. We also unpack why "marginal gains" and sports science only ever matter as a point of difference, borrowing points-of-parity and points-of-difference thinking from marketing.(00:24:16) Our headline piece. A "concussion" sensor sitting behind the helmet's BOA dial is being trialled by some teams the Tour, and we explain why the name is a dangerous misnomer. A helmet-mounted device measures helmet acceleration, not the brain, may be triggered off by cobbles, and can never be diagnostic. We explain that it could be used as a triage tool, not a diagnostic one that replaces road-side assessments. Drawing on rugby's mouthguard data, hundreds of thousands of head-acceleration events with poor sensitivity and predictive value, and the case of Torstein Traen, who passed a roadside check yet was later diagnosed with concussion, Ross explains that this is a genuine safety opportunity, but only if cycling gets the framing and the use of it right.(00:40:06) A wrap of the Wimbledon finals, with remarkable mental resilience from the new women's champion Linda Noskova, and Jannik Sinner's dominant serve. We look at Sinner's serve speed and placement, and how Zverev manages type 1 diabetes on court.(00:45:53) A rush of track action from the Monaco Diamond League, including Emmanuel Wanyonyi's 1000m world record and a brave but doomed attempt at the 3000m WR by Birke Haylom, who paid for what ended up being a pacing error by coming last. We also look ahead to the London Diamond League, headlined by Josh Kerr's much-hyped mile world record attempt, the women's 800m with Hodgkinson and Bol, and a stacked men's 800m.(00:57:50) Does South African rugby have a doping problem? A new positive for junior Springbok prop Kai Pratt, SAIDS rejecting the "witch hunt" framing, and Ross digs into the numbers: testing down more than six-fold in a decade, South Africa accounting for one in five rugby doping cases worldwide, and an anti-doping body whose budget has flatlined. We argue why "sour grapes" is no defence, and why the answer is to test more, not deflect.(01:04:57) And Finally, Joey Chestnut wins another July 4th hot dog title, with the Kobayashi method as competitive eating's "super shoes", and an Ironman in Swansea sends us down the rabbit hole of how organisers conjure those economic-impact and "media value" figures, plus the leader who rode straight into a stationary ambulance. From there, the conversation turns into a debate over some of the greatest athletes and dynasties in sports history. The crew compares Tiger Woods' unbelievable peak to legends like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James while asking what truly makes an athlete the greatest of all time. If you thought the U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities and leadership put an end to Iranian aggression, you need to see what's unfolding at Ayatollah Khamenei's funeral. This changes what you think you know about these fragile peace talks and whether the real threat has passed. After the recent 109-day war, Iran is staging a massive days-long state funeral for the late supreme leader whose nuclear quest helped spark the conflict. Hundreds of thousands are filling the streets of Tehran, waving flags and openly chanting “Death to America” and “Revenge! Revenge!” while officials and mourners vow retribution against the United States and Israel. The regime is turning the event into a propaganda spectacle to rally its base and keep the revolutionary hatred alive, even with Khamenei gone. This matters to regular Americans because it proves the ideology driving Iran's terror proxies and threats to the Strait of Hormuz didn't die with one man. President Trump pointed out the irony of pausing talks for the mourning period right around America's July 4th, but the images from Tehran show exactly why common sense says we can't afford to drop our guard. The Iranians are not signaling genuine peace — they're regrouping. Pat also covered: Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce tie the knot at MSG. Joey Chestnut dominates and WINS again. Angel Studios' “Young Washington” BEATS “Supergirl” at the box office. Zohran Mamdani lectures Americans on 4th of July. Folarin Balogun suspension lifted after President Trump makes a call. Do you think these funeral chants and revenge vows mean Iran will never change its ways toward America? What's your honest reaction to Trump giving Iran breathing room for the funeral while peace negotiations are still fragile — does it show strength or unnecessary restraint?
