As a divorced parent — especially in high-conflict situations — it's easy to spiral into guilt when you can't attend every game, recital, or school function. But missing a moment doesn't make you a bad parent. It means you're human. It means you're surviving. In this compassionate and empowering episode, we unpack the most common false beliefs divorced parents tell themselves — and reveal the truth that brings peace, clarity, and perspective. From the fear that your child will think you don't love them, to the pressure of overcompensating for a high-conflict ex, we're dismantling the guilt and reminding you: your worth is not measured by your presence at every event. You'll walk away with:Practical language to use with your child when you can't attend somethingReassurance that your love is built on daily presence, not performanceTools to resist the toxic pressure to prove yourselfA reminder that self-care, work, and survival are not failures — they're part of responsible parentingIf you've ever beat yourself up for not doing “enough,” this episode is here to remind you that you already are.

Each Tuesday, we discuss an older entertainment property, and currently, that's Lost. While we've already had many a hint as to what Kate did, this week's episode breaks it all down for us, entering Kate into the Bad Parent sweepstakes with entries from her mom, dad, and stepfather. On the island, things get weirder in the hatch as Michael gets a message from his son, who's possibly grabbing some unauthorized screen time.Next Tuesday, we'll continue with season 2, episode 10, "The 23rd Psalm." Tomorrow, we're back with our sitcom, A Man on the Inside.
Episode 505 // If you think you've had some bad parenting moments, don't worry. Melissa & Slater will help you feel better with what they've done. Plus we talk about the Grammy's and our take on Beyonce winning best country album.
Hate yourself, not the game.

Hey Strangers, #parents #tiktok TikTok faces new lawsuits filed by 13 U.S. states and the District of Columbia on Tuesday, accusing the popular social media platform of harming and failing to protect young people. The lawsuits filed separately in New York, California, the District of Columbia and 11 other states, expand Chinese-owned TikTok's legal fight with U.S. regulators, and seek new financial penalties against the company. The states accuse TikTok of using intentionally addictive software designed to keep children watching as long and often as possible and misrepresenting its content moderation effectiveness. "TikTok cultivates social media addiction to boost corporate profits," California Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement. "TikTok intentionally targets children because they know kids do not yet have the defenses or capacity to create healthy boundaries around addictive content." TikTok seeks to maximize the amount of time users spend on the app in order to target them with ads, the states say. "Young people are struggling with their mental health because of addictive social media platforms like TikTok," said New York Attorney General Letitia James. ======================================= My other podcast https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKpvBEElSl1dD72Y5gtepkw ************************************************** Something Strange https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRjVc2TZqN4&t=4s ************************************************** article links: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/14/facebook-documents-show-how-toxic-instagram-is-for-teens-wsj.html https://www.reuters.com/legal/tiktok-sued-by-13-states-dc-accused-harming-younger-users-2024-10-08/ ====================================== Today is for push-ups and Programming and I am all done doing push-ups Discord https://discord.gg/MYvNgYYFxq TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@strangestcoder Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@codingwithstrangers Twitch https://www.twitch.tv/CodingWithStrangers Twitter https://twitter.com/strangestcoder merch Support CodingWithStrangers IRL by purchasing some merch.
