The prophet Ezekiel was commissioned by God to deliver a dual message of judgment and hope to the exiled people of Judah, calling them to confront their collective and individual sins that led to Babylonian captivity. Through vivid symbolic actions and prophetic declarations, he exposed the spiritual corruption of Jerusalem, affirmed God's holiness, and declared that divine judgment was both inevitable and righteous, aimed at purifying His people and correcting their rebellion. Ezekiel also condemned neighboring nations—including Ammon, Moab, Edom, Philistia, Tyre, Sidon, and Egypt—for their malicious joy in Judah's downfall and their persistent hostility toward God's chosen people, emphasizing that God alone would execute justice and ensure all nations recognize His sovereignty. Yet amid the warnings of doom, Ezekiel proclaimed a future of restoration, promising a new covenant, a renewed heart, a rebuilt temple, and the return of God as king and shepherd to His faithful remnant. Ultimately, his ministry served to dismantle false hopes, restore dependence on God, and prepare the exiles for a future in which God's glory would be fully revealed.

Are We Underestimating Praise?2 Chronicles 20:21-22 "After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”In this chapter of Chronicles, God's people have armies coming to attack them from three different places.  Things were not looking good.  Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel, son of Zechariah, as he stood in the assembly.  He told the king and all the people of Judah that they shouldn't be afraid because this was not their fight. It was God's fight.  He told them to march down against the invading armies, but that they would not have to fight the battle.  This is where the verse picks up.  “After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: 'Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”Jehoshaphat and his army were headed into what seemed like a hopeless battle.  There were three different armies waiting to destroy them and take their land.  You would think they would have the soldiers lead them in this battle.  Even if they trusted God, you would think that just to be on the safe side, you would have the soldiers go first.  However, King Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise Him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out to face the armies.  “As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”Did you catch that last part?  It doesn't say that once they started fighting, the Lord gave them victory.  It doesn't say their enemy was defeated by their mighty hand.  It says that as they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against their enemy, and they were defeated.  They didn't even have to fight a single person.  They didn't have to lift their hands at all in this fight. They just needed to lift up their voices.   Do you have enemies that you need to defeat?  Are you praising God now while you are in the middle of it, or are you waiting until you get out of it?Sometimes we are trying to fight our enemies on our own.  We know we need God, and yet we ask Him for so much that we feel we should try to do this one on our own.  Yet, instead of leading with praise, we lead with anger, frustration, sadness, jealousy, and whatever other emotions we are feeling at the moment.  Can you think of a time when you have charged into a situation with your emotions leading the way?  How did that work out for you?  For me, it never works out.  When I go into a situation on my own without inviting the Lord to come with me, it never works out as I intended it to.  However, when I do think to praise the Lord while I am in the middle of a difficult situation, it always turns out well.  There are times when we think God has abandoned us.  We are praying and it does not seem like He is with us. Maybe we are the ones who have abandoned God.  We may be praying, but are we praying with a hopeful heart?  Are we trusting God will come through for us when we pray?  Are we praising God for all He does for us?  God is working in our lives every single day. Are we praising Him for that?  I talk a lot about gratitude because I think it is so important to go through life being grateful for what we have.  I think when we are grateful for what we have, God blesses us with more.  Being grateful is also a great way to shift our mood if we are feeling sad or having a bad day.  Sometimes, all it takes is a perspective switch, and we can turn our whole day around.  Praise is different from gratitude.  Sometimes, we can be praising God for what we have and what He has done for us, and yet praise is so much more than that.  We can also praise God for who He is.  Sometimes we are in a situation where we may not want to or be able to praise God for the situation. For instance, in this verse God's people were not praising God for the situation they were in.  They were not grateful they had three armies coming after them.  They were praising God for “the splendor of His Holiness.”  They were praising God for who He is.  He is the Fountain of Life.  He is the great “I AM.”  He is the Just One, and He is the King of kings.  He is the Lord of Lords, and He is the Light of the world.  He is the Lord our God.  He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  How often are you praising God for simply being God?  How often are you spending time in prayer thanking and praising God for being everything you need Him to be?  Maybe the next time we are in a hard situation, instead of charging into the situation with our guns blazing, we can lead with our praise.  Instead of leading with our anger, frustration, and sadness, we can lead with our praise.  God is always there for us.  Let's be there for Him.  Let's give God the praise that He so rightly deserves.  The thought just came to me that not everyone knows how to praise God.  There is no specific way.  I love to listen to praise and worship music, which is really any Christian music.  I am also part of a prayer group, and we praise out loud to the Lord, thanking Him for all He has done and all He Is.  I say phrases such as those listed above, things such as, you are the Light of the World, You are the Word made flesh, You are the King of the Kings.  You can also think back to all you have and thank God for that one by one.  You can thank God for everyone He has brought into your life.  Praise is time spent with the Lord when you are either thanking Him for something or you are talking about all the reasons He is awesome!!  I challenge you to find some time in your day-to-day and praise the Lord.  You can do it silently within your own heart, or you can shout it from the rooftops and everything in between.  Whatever you feel comfortable with.  The more you praise the more comfortable it will feel to you.  Also, the more you praise the more you will see God working in your life.  Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode today.  Lord, help us to praise you more.  Put praise for you on our hearts so we long to do it.  Give us a thirst for praising you Lord.  It is so amazing how you defeated Judah's enemy when they started to praise you.  Lord, we have many enemies, and we need you to defeat them.  Help us to praise you first instead of trying to fix it all our selves.  We love you, Lord; you are so powerful.  You give Light to our lamps.  You straighten our crooked path.  You are always by our side, and we are so grateful.  I ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen.Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus.  I look forward to spending time with you on Monday.  Remember, Jesus loves you and so do I!  Have a blessed weekend.Today's Word from the Lord was received in July 2025 by a member of my Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group. THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS BUT GOD'S The Bible gives the account of God speaking to King Jehoshaphat, who was a faithful king – the fourth king of Judah, and he was about to go into battle against the enemy, which was an ungodly alliance (I'm using that term from time to time today) of the armies of Ammon and Moab and Mt.Seir. 2Chronicles 20:17. You will not need to fight in this battle for the battle is not yours, but God's. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Do not be afraid nor be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you.” In that battle of Jehoshaphat's, that army was about to attack Israel to prevent them from entering into their inheritance of the promised Land. Earlier on, Israel were told not to attack these three nations when they first came out of Egypt. However God always steps in at critical times when God's people are ready to come into the fullness of what God has prepared for them from the beginning. The people of Israel were in fear and terror and Jehoshaphat cried out to God ‘O our God, will you not execute judgment on them? For we are powerless against this great horde that is coming against us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” The Bible goes on to say ‘And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush (âra? - to lie in wait and destroy) against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were destroyed.  God set the divided kingdoms of the enemy against one another (ungodly alliances turn against one another). For the men of Ammon and Moab rose against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, and destroyed them first, and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they all helped to destroy one another.' So by the time Israel appeared on the scene ready for battle there were dead bodies everywhere and the fight was all over, and it took Israel three days to gather up all the spoil from the treasuries of the opposing armies.  I believe we are living in a time such as this for the Church as the rebellion of ungodly alliances of darkness against the light of God's people has also begun to reach its peak. In ancient times, and up to the time of Jesus people worshipped a multitude of different gods and therefore could never agree on anything. There were no athiests. Today there are atheists but people have invented their own gods, or their own images or ideologies of what they believe will give them everything they want in life. Over the last decade or more a cultural slogan called DEI or diversity, equity and inclusion has become a rule for social and sometimes educational and political and corporate life. If done in a godly way this slogan has a lot of merit, as diversity is an accepted fact of life, and equity means an appropriate sharing of privilege (it doesn't mean equality), and inclusion means inclusion. Nothing wrong with that. But when done in an ungodly selfish way, individuals or groups of people compete to be more diverse or different than anything ever seen or heard of before and demand to be applauded for their choices it can put a strain on the fragile cultural window of tolerance and confusion and resentment starts happening everywhere. Equity then becomes I/we want to be more equal than most other people and want to enjoy every privilege that other people have without responsibly earning or paying for or deserving.  The ungodly nature of the DEI slogan is because it was based on an unspoken agreement in our culture to reject traditional Western values of Christianity which stood for a creator God with authority over human affairs through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Traditional values such as family order, freedom of speech, and obedience to the Commandments have been despised and rejected. This has caused ungodly alliances to form, and become set against one another, just as with King Jehosophat where God set the divided kingdoms of the enemy against one another (ungodly alliances turn against one another). DEI, diversity, equity, and inclusion then devolves over a short time into division, inequity, and exclusion (DIE). Identity groups compete for priority of privilege and within what looked like a united front of many identity groups fragments into different splinter groups cancelling one other out and leaving more conflict and hostility in society than there was in the first place.  We might think that what is happening today is something new, but it isn't, as we have seen with King Jehoshaphat, and Paul sums up the rebellious attitude of today's culture when he wrote over two thousand years ago in Romans. Romans 1:19-28 (Message Bible) By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what normal eyesight can't see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse. What happened was this: People knew God perfectly well, but when they didn't treat him like God, refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in their lives. They pretended to know it all but were illiterate regarding life. They traded the glory of God who holds the whole world in his hands for cheap statuettes you can buy at any roadside stall. So God said, in effect, “If that's what you want, that's what you get.” It wasn't long before they were living in a pigpen, smeared with filth inside and out. And all this because they traded the true God for a fake god and worshiped the god they made instead of the God who made them—the God we bless, the God who blesses us. Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn't know how to be human either—women didn't know how to be women, men didn't know how to be men. Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men—all lust, no love. And then they paid for it, oh, how they paid for it—emptied of God and love, godless and loveless. Since they didn't bother to acknowledge God, God quit bothering them and let them run loose. And then all hell broke loose: rampant evil, grabbing and grasping, vicious backstabbing. They made life hell on earth with their envy, wanton killing, bickering, and cheating. Look at them: mean-spirited, venomous, fork-tongued God-bashers. Bullies, swaggerers, insufferable windbags! They keep inventing new ways of wrecking lives and they ditch their parents when they get in the way. Stupid, cruel, cold-blooded. And it's not as if they don't know better. They know perfectly well they're spitting in God's face. And they don't care—worse, they hand out prizes to those who do the worst things best! The basis for Christian unity, a Godly Alliance, is found in Ephesians 4:1 walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Paul sums up the Church's confidence in our unity of trust in God's power on our behalf. 1 Corinthians 8:4 we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one. For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; Israel did physical warfare – we do spiritual warfare. We can receive peace from God, knowing that he alone can subdue all things to himself (Philippians 3.x) including the hearts of people, and that he is the creator God who alone can bring order out of chaos, and who speaks light into darkness. And as Paul explains in Ephesians 6:10 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the times of evil, and having done all, to stand. We do not fight against people but against dark spirits called principalities, which are social demographic regions where the culture of states and cities is expressed. We also wrestle against powers that buffet our personal souls. We wrestle against the rulers of the darkness of this age, that means the darkness that is influencing the collective mindsets and ideologies and attitudes of the global atmosphere that exists in this time of worldwide crisis.    Paul writes about our strategic spiritual defensive pieces of armour such as a ‘helmet of salvation' protecting the mind and thoughts, and he talks about a spiritual breastplate over the heart that protects us from fear. The head and the heart are the two most vulnerable parts of the body in warfare, and in spiritual terms the mind is the stronghold to where darkness directs his primary attack. We are directed in the Scriptures to bring our thoughts captive to the present moment that contains the ever-present presence of God with us through the indwelling Holy Spirit who reveals the reality of the power of Jesus to reorder our lives.This is being renewed in the spirit of our minds. We magnify the reality of God's supernatural activity above the unreality of our anxious imaginations about everything that might go wrong.    The other vulnerable area is our heart. That is where either fear or faith can dwell. Darkness fires darts of doubt and fear into this stronghold of our relationship with God, and we are given a shield of faith to protect ourselves from this kind of attack. The very areas that satan seeks to attack you are the areas of your strength as you enter this new season - and because you have paid a price and kept going, God is giving you access to the next step in your destiny - a short climb to the next place of rest and refreshment, where God will bring healing to the wounds the enemy may have inflicted you with. Paul also mentions spiritual weapons, like the sword, which speaks of the word of God.  The people under Jehoshaphat were told to ‘Position yourselves, stand still, and see, and to fear not.' We Position ourselves – Our position is as partners together with God. We are partakers of his Divine nature - Joint Heirs together with Jesus. We do not earn this – it is a gift of God's grace. But we dare not neglect it. We stand still – We come into a place of readiness and alertness in our spirit, not passively but actively - mindful of the now moment of God's ever-present presence with us. We See - That is seeing God at work by faith in the world of the unseen, as opposed to seeing things happen the way Israel did at the ambushing of the enemies in Jehoshaphat's battle. Our outward ‘seing' will come if we have been inwardly ‘seeing' by faith. That lifts us into a present moment assurance of the greatness and goodness of God, and we magnify God's greatness above our own weakness – ‘For The Lord your God is with you'. Amen

The Weapon of Worship: Learning from Jehoshaphat Thanksgiving Week Message Scripture: 2 Chronicles 20:1-30 Summary Following our seven-week "Suited Up" series on spiritual warfare, this Thanksgiving week message explores one of the most unusual and powerful weapons in spiritual battle: worship. Not just worship on Sunday morning when everything's going well, but worship in the trenches—worship when you're surrounded, outnumbered, and facing impossible odds. The story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20 demonstrates how worship invites God to fight our battles for us. The Story: King Jehoshaphat ruled Judah during a time of relative peace. But one day, messengers came with terrifying news: three armies—Moab, Ammon, and others—were united and marching against Judah. They were outnumbered, outmatched, and out of time. Humanly speaking, the situation was hopeless. But what Jehoshaphat did next is one of the most remarkable displays of faith in Scripture, teaching us how to fight spiritual battles with the weapon of worship. Key Points: 1. When Facing Impossible Battles, Turn to God First Jehoshaphat's first response reveals his character. 2 Chronicles 20:3 says, "And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah." Notice three things: First, he felt fear—the text doesn't hide this. Three armies were bearing down and he was terrified. But fear drove him TO God, not away from God. Second, he sought the Lord with determination and focus—this wasn't casual prayer but desperate, all-in seeking. Third, he called the nation to fast, recognizing this battle was too big for human effort. Jehoshaphat's prayer (2 Chronicles 20:6-12) is a masterclass in praying during impossible circumstances: He starts with WHO GOD IS: "You rule over all kingdoms. In Your hand is power and might." He recalls WHAT GOD HAS DONE: "You drove out the inhabitants. You gave us this land." He acknowledges THEIR HELPLESSNESS: "We have no power. We don't know what to do." He declares THEIR DEPENDENCE: "Our eyes are upon You." This is brilliant praying. Jehoshaphat doesn't deny the threat's reality, doesn't pretend they can handle it, doesn't give God suggestions. He simply reminds himself and the nation of God's character, God's past faithfulness, and their complete dependence on Him. The first step when facing impossible battles: Turn to God first, not as a last resort. 2. God Responds With a Promise and a Strategy After Jehoshaphat prayed, God responded through the prophet Jahaziel: "Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's. Tomorrow go down against them...You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord." God's message had three parts: A promise: "The battle is not yours, but God's"—one of the most important truths about spiritual warfare. When you're facing battles as God's child, you're not fighting alone. The battle ultimately belongs to God. Strange instructions: "You will not need to fight. Position yourselves, stand still"—go to the battlefield but don't fight? Just stand there? This made no sense militarily, but God's strategies rarely make human sense. Repeated reassurance: "Do not fear or be dismayed"—God knows fear is natural, so He repeats the command three times. Before they saw any evidence of victory, they worshiped (2 Chronicles 20:18-19). The armies were still coming. The threat hadn't changed. But they worshiped anyway. That's faith—not waiting until the problem is solved to give thanks, but giving thanks because God has promised to solve it. The next morning, Jehoshaphat did something audacious: "He appointed those who should sing to the Lord...as they went out BEFORE the army" (2 Chronicles 20:21). He sent worshipers to the front lines. Not warriors. Not weapons. Worshipers. The choir went first, armed with nothing but praise, singing about God's mercy while enemy armies bore down. When God makes you a promise, respond with worship—before you see it fulfilled. 3. Worship Invites God to Fight Your Battles Watch what happened when worship went to the front lines: "Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated" (2 Chronicles 20:22-23). When they began to sing and praise, God set ambushes. The three armies that had united against Judah suddenly turned on each other. By the time Judah's army arrived, the enemy was already destroyed. Judah didn't swing a single sword. They just worshiped, and God fought. The principle: Worship invites God's presence, and God's presence defeats the enemy. When you worship, you're declaring several truths: God's supremacy over your circumstances Your dependence on Him Your trust in His character Your confidence in His promises Every one of those declarations is an act of spiritual warfare. The enemy cannot stand in the presence of genuine worship because worship acknowledges the truth about who God is and who the enemy is not. How this works practically: When anxiety attacks, worship shifts focus from the problem to the Problem-Solver When bitterness takes root, worship reminds you of God's goodness and mercy When discouragement overwhelms, worship reorients perspective from temporary circumstances to eternal truth When temptation seems irresistible, worship reminds you that God's presence is more satisfying than sin Worship isn't just singing songs—it's declaring truth about God that drives out lies from the enemy. 4. Victory Through Worship Brings Abundant Blessing The story doesn't end with the enemy's defeat. When Judah came to the battlefield, they found the dead bodies of their enemies and "an abundance of valuables...more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil" (2 Chronicles 20:24-25). Three days to collect the plunder. They went to battle empty-handed with only worship, and came home with more wealth than they could carry. They named the battlefield "The Valley of Berachah" (blessing) because that's what it became. They went to battle with worship. They came home with worship. And in between, God gave them victory and abundant blessing. When God fights your battles, the victory is complete and the blessing is abundant. When you fight in your own strength, even if you win, you're exhausted and barely surviving. But when God fights for you, you come out blessed, strengthened, and with more than you had before. The final result: "And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. Then the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around" (2 Chronicles 20:29-30). The Bottom Line: When you face impossible battles, worship is a weapon that invites God to fight for you. Jehoshaphat turned to God first in desperate prayer, believed God's promise before seeing the outcome, sent worship to the front lines, and watched God fight and give abundant blessing. This Thanksgiving, when battles come—and they will—send worship to the front lines. Declare God's character. Praise His faithfulness. Thank Him for past victories. Trust Him for present battles. Watch Him fight for you.

Up next in the list of nations being rebuked by the Lord is the nation of Edom. Edom was on the short list of nations receiving prophetic rebuke along with Ammon, Moab, and Philistia when this section began back in chapter 25. Recall that the nation of Edom stems from Jacob's (aka Israel's) brother Esau, and they have been at odds more or less ever since the womb. Most recently, Edom participated in the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem during the Babylonian invasion. History reveals that in time the Edomites will be defeated by the Maccabees in 126 BC and incorporated into the Jewish state and would cease to exist by the year 6 AD. We continue the account of the sons of Mosiah as missionaries to the Lamanites. After King Lamoni was converted, he and Ammon went to Middoni to free Ammon's brothers from prison. However, they encountered Lamoni's father along the way. Ammon battled "king dad" and convinced him to release his brothers and let his son reign as he wishes.The brothers do more mission work in an ancient city of Jerusalem but get resistance from Amalekites, Amulonites, and Nehorites. Eventually, Aaron, one of the brothers goes to "king dad" in the land of Nephi and sees a conversion similar to what King Lamoni experienced. Monday, 10 November 2025   Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she might ask. Matthew 14:7   “Whence with an oath He assented to give her what if she should ask” (CG).   In the previous verse, it was noted that Herod had a birthday celebration and that Herodias' daughter danced for him, pleasing him. Matthew continues the narrative, saying, “Whence with an oath He assented to give her what if she should ask.”   The word that confirms the oath is homologeó, to assent. It signifies “to voice the same conclusion” (HELPS Word Studies). What is probably intended is affirming a matter by repeating it, a common Hebrew form of speaking, such as, “I vow with a vow to do this thing,” or “Vowing with a vow, he confirmed his word.” In this case, the repetition is seen in the exchange as recorded in lengthier statements in Mark 6 –   “And when Herodias' daughter herself came in and danced, and pleased Herod and those who sat with him, the king said to the girl, ‘Ask me whatever you want, and I will give it to you.' 23 He also swore to her, ‘Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half my kingdom.'”   Herod was enamored with the girl's dancing and wanted to reward her for it publicly, something that would demonstrate his magnanimity to those around him. When assenting to his oath, he binds himself to whatever she asks. It is not a wise way of engaging in gift giving. However, being the king, the one who is offered something with such an oath would not be expected to abuse the request, thus eliciting the disfavor of the king.   Life application: In Scripture, people are seen to make vows that can be taken as rash and unwise. A glaring example of this is found in Judges 11 –   Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh, and passed through Mizpah of Gilead; and from Mizpah of Gilead he advanced toward the people of Ammon. 30 And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord, and said, “If You will indeed deliver the people of Ammon into my hands, 31 then it will be that whatever comes out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the people of Ammon, shall surely be the Lord's, and I will offer it up as a burnt offering.” 32 So Jephthah advanced toward the people of Ammon to fight against them, and the Lord delivered them into his hands. 33 And he defeated them from Aroer as far as Minnith—twenty cities—and to Abel Keramim, with a very great slaughter. Thus the people of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel. 34 When Jephthah came to his house at Mizpah, there was his daughter, coming out to meet him with timbrels and dancing; and she was his only child. Besides her he had neither son nor daughter. 35 And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said, “Alas, my daughter! You have brought me very low! You are among those who trouble me! For I have given my word to the Lord, and I cannot go back on it.”   Jephthah made a vow that, unfortunately, cost him the life of his daughter. He understood that despite the consequences of his vow, it was one made to the Lord, and it had to be fulfilled. The reason for this story being included in Scripture is to make a point about what God is doing in redemptive history concerning salvation and His favor or rejection of a particular people group.   To understand what is going on in that passage, you can refer to the Superior Word sermons on Judges 11. As for our words today, a point made by Jesus and which is repeated by both Paul and James is that when we speak, we are to refrain from making vows concerning such matters.   Instead, we are to let our Yes be Yes and our No be No. In other words, when we say we are going to do or not do something, our integrity should be so accepted by others that they know we will perform our word. Additional vows and oaths are unnecessary and will detract from what the Lord expects of us.   This does not mean that we are not to make any oath at all. In society, we must swear oaths in court, on legal documents (with our signature, for example), etc. But when speaking, we should refrain from people thinking there is any necessity to go beyond a simply stated affirmation concerning our intent.   Lord God, help us to be people of integrity where others can trust our words, taking them at face value. Help us to remember that when we speak, You are being evaluated through the performance and accomplishment of what we say. Help us to remember this and follow through, to Your glory. Amen.

Then Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the Ammonites and said, "What do you have against me, that you have come to me to fight against my land?" And the king of the Ammonites answered the messengers of Jephthah, "Because Israel on coming up from Egypt took away my land, from the Arnon to the Jabbok and to the Jordan; now therefore restore it peaceably." Jephthah again sent messengers to the king of the Ammonites and said to him, "Thus says Jephthah: Israel did not take away the land of Moab or the land of the Ammonites, but when they came up from Egypt, Israel went through the wilderness to the Red Sea and came to Kadesh. Israel then sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, 'Please let us pass through your land,' but the king of Edom would not listen. And they sent also to the king of Moab, but he would not consent. So Israel remained at Kadesh. "Then they journeyed through the wilderness and went around the land of Edom and the land of Moab and arrived on the east side of the land of Moab and camped on the other side of the Arnon. But they did not enter the territory of Moab, for the Arnon was the boundary of Moab. Israel then sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, king of Heshbon, and Israel said to him, 'Please let us pass through your land to our country,' but Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his territory, so Sihon gathered all his people together and encamped at Jahaz and fought with Israel. And the Lord, the God of Israel, gave Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they defeated them. So Israel took possession of all the land of the Amorites, who inhabited that country. And they took possession of all the territory of the Amorites from the Arnon to the Jabbok and from the wilderness to the Jordan. So then the Lord, the God of Israel, dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel; and are you to take possession of them? Will you not possess what Chemosh your god gives you to possess? And all that the Lord our God has dispossessed before us, we will possess. Now are you any better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever contend against Israel, or did he ever go to war with them? While Israel lived in Heshbon and its villages, and in Aroer and its villages, and in all the cities that are on the banks of the Arnon, 300 years, why did you not deliver them within that time? But the king of the Ammonites did not listen to the words of Jephthah that he sent to him. — Judges 11:12–28 Instead of rushing to war, Jephthah raises his voice. His first move is diplomacy, which requires some courage and confidence. As he engages with the Ammonite king, he realizes that he is being sold "fake news." Because fake news is not a new phenomenon. And he is using fake news to rally his troops and justify his invasion, but Jephthah calls him out. He recounts the truth about Israel's pilgrimage, God's hand in their victories, and that Israel never stole and parcel of Ammonite land. Jephthah knew the history, even as an illegitimate son, so he didn't need to distort the truth or negotiate out of fear. He stood firm, trusted the facts, and left the outcome up to God: "The LORD, the Judge, decide this day." Godly leaders never rush into battles that they can settle with truth. We live in a time where everyone is quick to argue, fight, and cancel—but wise leaders know when to pause, speak truth clearly, and let God be their defender.. Sometimes we wrongly believe silence means weakness or that diplomacy means compromise. But truth is a weapon. When someone lies about you, when accusations come, when history gets twisted—don't panic. Stand on what God has done. Like Jephthah, rehearse God's past faithfulness, cling to His Word, and let God be the Judge. Maybe you're facing a relational conflict, workplace injustice, or someone twisting your story. Your instinct might be to lash out, prove your point, or fight fire with fire. But remember: truth is stronger than lies, and God is the ultimate Judge. When we stand on his justice, we fight from a place of confidence, not insecurity. ASK THIS: Do I rush to fight back, or do I stand on truth first? How often do I trust God to be the Judge instead of trying to play judge myself? Am I confident enough in God's past faithfulness to trust Him with present conflicts? DO THIS: Before you step into a fight this week—pause. Ask: Can this be handled by truth, not conflict? Then, speak truth with clarity and leave the verdict to God. PRAY THIS: Lord, help me to trust You as the Judge of every situation. Teach me to stand firm in truth, to speak with wisdom, and to fight only the battles You call me to. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Defender."

While Zeezrom and some people repent, the mob and the chief judge bind Alma and Amulek and imprison them. After months of torment, Alma and Amulek miraculously escape to Sidom. There they heal Zeezrom who had a horrible fever. They start a church there.Eventually, the two travel and run into Ammon and the sons of Mosiah who are now missionaries to the Lamanites. We then see an account of how Ammon became a servant of King Lamoni in the land of Ishmael of the Lamanites. As the power of God aids him, King Lamoni thinks Ammon might be the "Great Spirit." This gives Ammon the opportunity to give a history lesson and "gospel" presentation.King Lamoni prays and gets slain in the spirit for two days. After he wakes up, he gets slain in the spirit again, along with the queen, some servants, and Ammon himself. Are We Underestimating Praise?2 Chronicles 20:21-22 "After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”In this chapter of Chronicles, God's people have armies coming to attack them from three different places.  Things were not looking good.  Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah as he stood in the assembly.  He told the king and all the people of Judah that they shouldn't be afraid because they was not their fight, it was God's fight.  He told them to march down against the invading armies, but that they would not have to fight the battle.  This is where the verse picks up.  “After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”Jehoshaphat and his army were headed into what seemed like a hopeless battle.  There were three different armies waiting to destroy them and to take their land.  You would think they would have the soldiers lead them this battle.  Even if they trusted God, you would think just to be on the safe side you would have the soldiers go first.  However, King Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise Him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out to face the armies.  “As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”Did you catch that last part?  It doesn't say once they started fighting the Lord gave them victory.  It doesn't say their enemy was defeated by their mighty hand.  It says as they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against their enemy and they were defeated.  They didn't even have to fight a single person.  They didn't have to lift their hands at all in this fight, they just needed to lift up their voices.   Do you have enemies that you need defeated?  Are you praising God now while you are in the middle of it, or are you waiting until you get out of it?  I have known that praise is important for some time know.  I have even done other episodes on how important it is to praise through the storm, not just after it is over.  However, I didn't know about this story.  I didn't know about God destroying three armies with praise alone.  Sometimes we are trying to fight our enemies on our own.  We know we need God and yet we ask Him for so much we feel we should try to do this one on our own.  Yet, instead of leading with praise we lead with anger, frustration, sadness, jealousy and whatever other emotions we are feeling in the moment.  Can you think of a time when you have charged into a situation with your emotions leading the way?  How did that work out for you?  For me, it never works out.  When I go into a situation on my own, without inviting the Lord to come with me, it never works out as I intended it to.  However, when I do think to praise the Lord while I am in the middle of a difficult situation, it always turns out well.  There are times when we think God has abandoned us.  We are praying and it does not seem like He is with  us. Maybe we are the ones who have abandoned God.  We may be praying, but are we praying with a hopeful heart?  Are we trusting God will come through for us when we pray?  Are we praising God for all He does for us?  God is working in our lives every single day, are we praising Him for that?  I talk a lot about gratitude because I think it is so important to go through life being grateful for what we have.  I think when we are grateful with what we have God blesses us with more.  Being grateful is also a great way to shift our mood if we are feeling sad, or having a bad day.  Sometimes all it takes is a perspective switch and we can turn our whole day around.  Praise is different from gratitude.  Sometimes we can be praising God for what we have and what He has done for us and yet praise is so much more than that.  We can also praise God fro who He is.  Sometimes we are in a situation where we may not want to or be able to praise God for the situation. For instance, in this verse God's people were not praising God for the situation they were in.  They were not grateful they had three armies coming after them.  They were praising God for “the splendor of His Holiness.”  They were praising God for who He is.  He is the the Fountain of Life.  He is the great “I AM.”  He is the Just One and He is the King of kings.  He is the Lord of Lords and He is the Light of the world.  He is the Lord our God.  He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  How often are you praising God for simply being God?  How often are you spending time in prayer thanking and praising God for being everything you need Him to be?  Maybe the next time we are in a hard situation, instead of charging into the situation with our guns blazing, maybe we can lead with our praise.  Instead of leading with our anger, frustration, sadness, we can lead with our praise.  God is always there for us.  Let's be there for Him.  Let's give God the praise that He so rightly deserves.  The thought just came to me that not everyone knows how to praise God.  There is not specific way.  I love to listen to praise and worship music, which is really any Christian music.  I am also part of a prayer group and we praise outloud to the Lord thanking Him for all He has done and all he Is.  I say phrases such as those listed above, things such as, you are the Light of the World, You are the Word made flesh, You are the King of the Kings.  You can also think back to all you have and thank God for that one by one.  You can thank God for everyone He has brought into your life.  Praise is time spent with the Lord when you are either thanking Him for something or you are talking about all the reasons He is awesome!!  I challenge you to find some time in your day today and praise the Lord.  You can do it silently within your own heart, or you can shout if from the roof tops, and everything in between.  Whatever you feel comfortable with.  The more you praise the  more comfortable it will feel to you.  Also, the more you praise the more you will see God working in your life.  Dear Heavenly Father I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode today.  Lord, help us to praise you more.  Put praise for you on our hearts so we long to do it.  Give us a thirst for praising you Lord.  It is so amazing how you defeated Judah's enemy when they started to praise you.  Lord, we have many enemies and we need you to defeat them.  Help us to praise you first instead of trying to fix it all our selves.  We love you Lord, you are so powerful.  You give Light to our lamps.  You straighten our crooked path.  You are always by our side and we am so grateful.  I ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, AmenThank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus.  I look forward to spending time with you on Monday.  Remember, Jesus loves you and so do I!  Have a blessed weekend. www.findingtruenorthcoaching.comCLICK HERE TO DONATECLICK HERE to sign up for Mentoring CLICK HERE to sign up for Daily "Word from the Lord" emailsCLICK HERE to sign up for my newsletter & receive a free audio training about inviting Jesus into your daily lifeCLICK HERE to buy my book Total Trust in God's Safe Embrace

“O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.” (2 Chronicles 20:12 NLT) Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, was in trouble. The armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir had joined forces to attack their common enemy, Judah. Military strategy, no matter how brilliant or daring, would not be able to overcome the size differential of the fighting forces. The armies that were descending on Judah had the potential to annihilate. King Jehoshaphat recognized that this was no time for false bravado. All he could do was pray and trust in God’s mercy and strength. In 2 Chronicles 20, we find him standing with his men, along with their families and children, praying, “O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help” (verse 12 NLT). God’s answer came through Jahaziel, one of the men standing with the king. “This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s” (verse 15 NLT). I love that scene. Humanly speaking, it is a picture of weakness. King Jehoshaphat was saying, in effect, “Lord, here we are. We have the kids. We have an army coming toward us. What am I going to do here? Our eyes are on You.” That is a good thing to pray. God answered Jehoshaphat’s prayer, intervened, and rescued the people of Judah. In the New Testament, we read of a time when there was a storm at sea, and the disciples were calling out to God for help. Jesus finally showed up, walking toward them on the water. He had arrived during the fourth watch of the night, which is the last part of the night, right before the sun begins to rise. Technically, it’s the morning, but it still feels like it’s night. This means the disciples had been toiling at sea for hours, trying to get through that storm, and Jesus came along at the last possible moment. The point is that He did come to them. And He will do the same for you and me. He always will—when the time is right. We need to just trust Him. God’s reckoning of time is much more accurate than ours is. He is eternal. He can see past, present, and future with perfect clarity. He knows the ripple effect of every action. He also knows how to bring good from any situation. He is the perfect Consultant—One who wants only the best for us and knows when and how that best can be achieved. Remember this: He loves us with an everlasting love. That love is not fickle. That love doesn’t change. That love is persistent. That love is consistent. We are loved by God. Reflection question: When have you experienced God’s amazing timing?
