Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way was our guest on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Friday to talk about their Shoes for Kids initiative. The Kewanee Area United Way is teaming up with several local businesses to make sure local kids have shoes to wear to school. The need is greater than you think with the United Way setting a goal of filling 200 applications for new shoes, more than 200 pairs of shoes are being purchased. The Kewanee Area United Way has committed a substantial funding, pledging to match up to $6000 in donations. The program aims to distribute 200 pairs of shoes initially, with plans for expansion. Donations are welcomed at KAUW.org or by dropping by the United Way office at the Henry County Senior Center.

OSF Saint Luke Medical Center has been raising funds for the Kewanee Area United Way. Samantha Rux and Brenda Streit with OSF Saint Luke Medical Center joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Monday to talk about the various fundraisers that have been run by the different departments at OSF Saint Luke Medical Center and how OSF became part of the workplace fundraising set with the Kewanee Area United Way. The Center for Youth and Family Services is one of the 16 non-profit agencies that benefits from your donation to the Kewanee Area United Way. The Center for Youth and Family Services deals with an array of services including Child Welfare, adoption, Youth Services, Behavioral Health Counseling, and operating the Guardian Angel Residential Home. Sarah Hott is a representative of The Center for Youth and Family Services and she joined Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way on Wake Up Tri-Counties.

Eddie Tolliver from the Kewanee Salvation Army and Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way joined WKEI on Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday to discuss the partnership between the Kewanee Area United Way and the Kewanee Salvation Army. Eddie then talked about what's coming up for the Salvation Army including the start of the Bell ringing season, just around the corner, and other holiday events that will also be fundraisers for the Salvation Army. Then, of course, there is the Toy Drive and the Angel Tree which will be going up very soon at Wal Mart in Kewanee.

The Annual Kewanee Area United Way Campaign is underway and Linda Blair with KAUW joined Wake Up TriCounties to highlight one of the agencies that benefits from your donations to the Kewanee Area United Way. Bill Horrell is with Alternatives for Older Adults and he spoke to WKEI about the senior services offered by Alternatives which can range from connecting people over 60 with needed care and services to more involved help in preventing elder abuse and helping seniors manage their money. Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way joined Wake Up Tri-Counties on Wednesday to drum up support for the kick off of the Kewanee Area United Campaign kick off. An official launch of this year's United Way campaign will take place on October 14th from 5:30 Pm to 7:30 Pm. 16 non-profit agencies are under the United Way fundraising banner this year and you can support those agencies by supporting the United Way Annual Campaign.

Great Dane is making it possible for Regional Media and the Kewanee Area United Way to bring a series of conversations about Mental Health. Regional Media and the Kewanee Area United Way will bring you interviews with representatives of Braveheart Children's Advocacy Center and Freedom House about Mental Health Topics. Seizoen 2 Dik Trom deel 30.  Gerrit de sprekende kauw  van Dik, komt onverwacht op bezoek in de klas en de meester is niet blij.  Opa Rob vertelt heb ik ingedeeld in seizoenen naar het soort verhaal. Zodat je makkelijk onthoudt waar je gebleven bent en daar weer verder kunt gaan.  Mijn kleinkinderen vinden het leuk om naar mijn verhalen te luisteren. Als hobby lees ik deze verhalen voor. Voor het slapen gaan. Spannende of leuke verhalen. Ik raad ze altijd aan om met hun ogen dicht onder de dekens te luisteren. Want als je je ogen dicht hebt kun je er van alles bij verzinnen. De ouders adviseer ik een kleine bleutooth speaker, . Maar je kunt ook gewoon je telefoon naast het kussen leggen. Wil je me meer over het leven van Opa Rob weten, dat staat onder seizoen 1. Ik hoop dat jullie het leuk vinden en geef me wat feedback want ik wil ook best verhalen op verzoek voorlezen.

How have the folks at Abilities Plus weathered the storm of 2020? It's been tough but they've managed to maintain many of the services they provide while innovating new ways to remain connected to and aiding their clients amid the storm of COVID-19. Recently, clients of Abilities Plus received a care package of cleaning supplies, a part of an ongoing effort by the Kewanee Area United Way to make sure those in need get needed supplies. One our People to People program we spoke with Julie Landwehr from Abilities Plus and Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way to talk about this effort and the partnership between Abilities Plus and the Kewanee Area United Way.

The Kewanee Area United Way is launching another Supply Drive for those in need. With the aid of the Kewanee Ministerial Association, the Kewanee Area United Way is gathering supplies that will be handed out in multiple ways. Cleaning supplies have been sent out to local seniors in need via partnership with the Henry County Senior Center. Still more supplies are being gathered with the aid of the Kewanee Salvation Army and a drive through pick up of needed supplies is set to take place early next year. We talked with Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way about the ongoing plans for the supply drive and the need for donations.

Ga je op visite? Vraag de gastvrouw om rond te gaan met de hapjes, in plaats van deze op tafel neer te zetten. Today on People to People we spoke with Trisha Shafer from Freedom House about the help that Freedom House gets from the Kewanee Area United Way and how that help supports their mission to help people affected by Domestic Abuse. We were also joined by Linda Blair from the Kewanee Area United Way who talked about how by supporting the United Way, you are supporting the non-profit community of our area.

The Kewanee Area United Way will hold another emergency supply drive thru on Saturday. Call the Salvation Army on Friday between 10 Am and 2 Pm and let them know you are in need of emergency cleaning or hygiene supplies. If you call you will be assigned a number for your pick up on Saturday. Pick up is at the loading dock behind Hill Church in Kewanee on Saturday between 1 Pm and 2:30 Pm.
