Geniet! by UFO History Buff & Author, Charles Lear Recently, footage taken of a video that has been described by documentarian James Fox as the holy grail of UFO videos has been shown online. The original video on VHS had been in the possession of one of the early Area 51 researchers, Chuck Clark, since 1995. Clark was reportedly offered a large sum of money to turn over the video, and he refused, whereupon underhanded means were employed to get what was on it out to the public. This story goes all the way back to the 1990s when the United States was in the midst of its own special brand of paranoid UFOlogy, which emphasized government cover-ups and conspiracy theories fueled by the popularity of The X-Files. Area 51 had become the most famous secret base in the world after Bob Lazar, in silhouette using the name “Dennis,” was interviewed by George Knapp on KLAS in Las Vegas in May 1989. He claimed to have worked on reverse-engineering nine recovered alien space craft at a site he said was called “S-4” located in the southern section of Area 51.The excitement stirred up by Lazar's claim resulted in a flood of UFO tourists descending on the area. Many would stop at the only bar in the nearby small town of Rachel, Nevada, a population that usually numbers around 50 people. According to the “Rachel Timeline” section of A Short History of Rachel, Nevada by Glenn Campbell and Edith Grover, Pat and Joe Travis bought the Rachel Bar and Grill in 1988. They renamed it “The Little A'Le'Inn” and held the first annual UFO conference there in July of 1990. Read more →CONTACT AND SUPPORT

In this episode of the AI at Health series on The Beat Podcast, host Sandy Vance sits down with Venky Ananth, Executive Vice President and Head of Healthcare at Infosys, for a wide-ranging and energizing conversation about what it actually means for AI to transform healthcare at scale. Venky brings a refreshingly honest and structured perspective to a conversation that is often dominated by hype, breaking down why AI is fundamentally different from every other technology wave healthcare has been through, laying out the five areas where Infosys is seeing real traction with payers, providers, and PBMs right now, and sharing the story behind two exciting developments: the acquisition of Optimum Health IT and the Pacesetters podcast and executive leadership community. If you are a healthcare leader trying to figure out where to start or how to think about AI as a whole-enterprise challenge rather than a point solution, this episode is essential listening. In this episode, they talk about: AI is not a point solution; it is a new operating system that will touch every function in every organization Healthcare is broken, fragmented, and frustrating, and AI is the first technology with the potential to fix all three at once Legacy modernization must come before AI adoption because you cannot layer intelligence on top of broken processes AI can now reverse engineer legacy systems that used to depend entirely on tribal knowledge The five pillars of AI transformation are strategy and engineering, legacy modernization, data, process reengineering, and physical AI Training AI on your own private data is the competitive wedge that separates leaders from followers Agents are the new team members, and organizations need to rethink how humans and agents orchestrate workflows together Infosys acquired Optimum Health IT, the number one-ranked Epic implementation partner according to KLAS, to deepen its provider capabilities Epic now covers an estimated 220 to 230 million distinct patients in the US and is growing internationally The Pacesetters podcast and annual executive gathering bring together CIOs, CTOs, academics, and analysts for candid, off-the-record dialogue about the future of healthcare A Little About Venky Ananth: Venky is a technology and transformation executive with deep experience leading a global business unit, scaling high-performance organizations, and delivering large-scale change through AI, cloud, and modern growth operating models. His career has focused on helping enterprises modernize core systems, improve operational efficiency, and unlock new growth through platform innovation and disciplined execution. He founded and scaled Infosys Helix, a cloud-native platform business that continues to shape payer and health platform modernization. In addition, he has led global teams across engineering, delivery, consulting, and product, giving him a broad view of strategy, technology, operations, and organizational scale. He operates at the intersection of technology, business model transformation, and leadership development, with a track record of strengthening enterprise performance and building organizations capable of sustained growth. Beyond his operating role, I host PaceSetters, a CXO leadership platform featuring conversations with leaders from healthcare, academia, private equity, and technology.
„Neapsaugotiems dvarų mūrams lietus ir šaltis gali būti ne mažiau pavojingas nei rusų raketos ir dronai. Apie tai kalbėta ir Nacionalinėje Martyno Mažvydo bibliotekoje vykusioje diskusijoje „Lietuvos kultūros paveldas: problemos ir iššūkiai“, kurioje išryškėjo ir kitos sistemos silpnosios vietos – ribotos Restauravimo tarybos galios, savivaldybių specialistų trūkumas, galimos manipuliacijos priimant sprendimus. Ką šios problemos reiškia Lietuvos kultūros paveldui ir kokių pokyčių reikia restauravimo sistemoje?„Yra nemažai kuriančių medikų, nes jie nori išlaisvinti savo vidinį vaiką ir vidinį aš, išeiti iš profesijos rėmų“, – sako tauragiškė, vaikų gydytoja Iveta Skurvydienė. Vis dėlto kartu nemažai mokinių matematiką sieja su didelėmis pastangomis, neigiamomis emocijomis ir baime suklysti.Ved. Justė Luščinskytė

Graag wil ik je attenderen op een nieuwe podcast serie die ik maak. In deze nieuwe podcast serie met de titel Geef Kennis Door ga ik met Loes de Smet en Erik Meester over bovenstaande vraag in gesprek aan de hand van de 30 thema's van Wetenswaardig. In elke aflevering staat één thema centraal. This week on That Tech Pod, healthcare cybersecurity gets a reality check. Ed Gaudet, Founder and CEO of Censinet, joins the show to unpack how he found his way into healthcare security and why it became the problem he chose to focus on long term. From there, the conversation moves quickly past surface-level explanations and into where things actually break inside health systems. It's not a lack of tools. It's not a lack of awareness. Ed lays out how leadership gaps, misaligned incentives, and day-to-day operational pressures create the conditions for breaches, even in organizations that believe they're in good shape. He also shares how he would test that assumption and what signals tell you whether a system is truly secure or just hoping it is. The episode digs into the tension between patient care and security, questioning whether it's a real constraint or sometimes a convenient reason to avoid harder decisions. On the AI front, Ed separates what's actually working from what's getting too much credit, and highlights the parts of a breach that technology alone won't fix. It wraps with a candid look at the hard truths the industry tends to avoid and what real accountability would look like if organizations took cybersecurity seriously. Then stick around to the very end for a bonus poem that adds an unexpected close to the conversation.Ed Gaudet is the Founder and CEO of Censinet, a company focused on healthcare cybersecurity and third-party risk management. With more than 25 years of software and technology leadership experience, Ed has held executive roles spanning product, marketing, and sales at companies including Imprivata, Liquid Machines, IONA Technologies, Rational Software, and SQA, Inc. At Imprivata, he served as CMO and later business unit GM, leading the creation of Imprivata Cortext, a cloud-based clinical communications platform recognized as best-in-KLAS. Ed holds multiple patents in mobile authentication, secure content sharing, and distributed data management, and he is a recognized speaker on leadership, healthcare, and regulatory compliance.
The ninth studio album from Swedish musician Robyn, ‘Sexistential' is a return to an earlier form. Unlike the softer sounds of her previous album ‘Honey', her latest release is reminiscent of her 2010 trilogy ‘Body Talk' – Robyn working with the same producer, Klas Åhlund, as she did on that project. In Chris Schulz's opinion, the album is easily the best pop album of the year so far, and he joined Jack Tame to share his full thoughts. As healthcare heads into 2026, the signals are getting harder to ignore. Financial pressure is mounting. Consumer expectations are accelerating. And digital strategies that once felt optional are now core infrastructure. In this episode, hosts Chris Boyer and Reed Smith kick off the new year with a trend-focused conversation unpacking what is actually changing across healthcare, digital strategy, and consumer behavior and what that means for health systems of all shapes and sizes. The discussion spans three critical areas. First, how hospitals, health systems, and academic medical centers are navigating margin pressure, workforce challenges, and increasing scrutiny while being asked to do more with less. Second, how digital and marketing strategies are evolving from campaign-driven efforts into intelligence and experience infrastructure powered by data, AI, and governance. And third, how patient expectations are shifting as consumers bring behaviors learned from retail, banking, and technology into healthcare. Rather than predictions for prediction's sake, this episode focuses on real signals already shaping 2026 and the strategic implications leaders need to understand now. Cloud imaging should feel like a clear next step, yet most teams still can't agree on what “cloud strategy” actually means. In this interview, Monique Rasband, Vice President of Strategy & Research for Imaging and Oncology at KLAS Research, breaks down what she's hearing directly from providers in the new KLAS Enterprise Imaging 2025 Report. We talk about why cloud adoption is speeding up, why some vendors are falling behind, and why the market is seeing one of the most active replacement cycles in years.Rasband discusses the choices CIOs are wrestling with, the pressure remote reading is putting on legacy systems, and the surprising trend of providers who thought they were “behind” but are actually moving faster than expected. What's your cloud imaging experience been like? Are your systems aligned or still speaking different languages?
What happens when the founder of Mint.com takes on one of healthcare's most broken experiences—patient communication? In this episode of Bright Spots in Healthcare, Eric Glazer sits down with Aaron Patzer, Founder and CEO of Vital, to explore how simplicity, clarity, and human-centered design can drive real impact in healthcare. Drawing from his journey building Mint, Aaron shares why most healthcare technology misses the mark, how better communication improves outcomes and ROI, and what leaders must do to design experiences people actually use. The conversation goes deep on: Why simplifying complexity—not adding more tech—is the real innovation How better patient communication drives measurable ROI for hospitals What healthcare leaders can learn from consumer tech about trust, adoption, and engagement The leadership principles Aaron relies on when innovating inside highly regulated, slow-moving systems If you're a healthcare leader navigating digital transformation, AI investment decisions, or experience strategy, this episode offers clear thinking, hard-earned lessons, and proof that when you make it easier for people to understand what's happening, everything works better. Summary: The healthcare industry is resilient, and even in times of financial pressure and policy uncertainty, new opportunities for growth and innovation emerge. In this episode, Dan Czech, VP of Insights at KLAS Research, shares findings from a survey of 169 healthcare delivery organizations (HDOs) on how they are adapting to federal policy shifts and the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Many HDOs report they have yet to recover to pre-COVID margins, with narrow margins, staffing shortages, and rising costs compounded by the uncertainty of rapidly changing regulations. Lacking clear direction, organizations are acting now with multiple contingency strategies, workforce adjustments, and careful protection of patient-facing roles. Despite financial strain, IT and AI remain top investment priorities to offset workforce reductions and reduce clinician burnout, though many remain stuck in pilot programs. Dan notes that providers are reevaluating payer contracts, rural systems are leaning on federal programs, and the industry's resilience points to long-term progress. Tune in and learn how organizations are adapting to change and preparing for the future! Resources: Connect with and follow Dan Czech on LinkedIn. Healthcare technology has long promised efficiency, but for many clinicians, the reality has been different: burnout, frustration, and time stolen from patient care. In this episode of Faces of Digital Health, Tjasa Zajc spoke with Coray Tate, VP of Clinical Research at KLAS Research, about what the data actually reveals about burnout, electronic health records (EHRs), and the role of new technologies like ambient speech and AI. Key takeaways: Culture matters more than technology choice. The Arch Collaborative found that execution and organizational support around EHRs matter more than the specific vendor. Burnout isn't primarily caused by EHRs. Instead, clinicians report that feeling unheard and disconnected from leadership drives dissatisfaction. The Middle East stands out. Collaboration-focused cultures there show significantly lower burnout rates than the U.S. or Europe. Ambient speech is delivering results. Across ~25 health systems, burnout rates dropped by 12% after adopting ambient documentation tools. AI will redefine expectations. We are at the cusp of moving from “taskmaster” EHRs to supportive assistants that reduce cognitive load and help clinicians reclaim personal time. The future of healthcare technology isn't just about smarter systems — it's about listening, collaborating, and ensuring that innovations help clinicians live better lives inside and outside the hospital. www.facesofdigitalhealth.com Newsletter: https://fodh.substack.com/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZAhDhrNZu0
How To Navigate The Big Federal Budget Cuts On this episode host Adam Turinas and his guests Dan Czech, VP of Insights at KLAS, and his colleague Mark Ewrich, Chief Strategy Officer at Health Launchpad, discuss a “Must-Read” study, “Navigating the Uncertainty of Federal Policy 2025.” Hear about how healthcare organizations are navigating through shifting federal policies without clear direction. The study reveals that 90% of organizations feel they lack the clarity needed to act decisively, and 85% have developed multiple contingency plans to respond to policy changes. Okay, to review from Part 1 of this conversation, and if you didn't listen to it because you think you know how this whole skyrocketing healthcare costs thing works, let me tell you, I myself had a few revelations. So, go back and listen. For a full transcript of this episode, click here. If you enjoy this podcast, be sure to subscribe to the free weekly newsletter to be a member of the Relentless Tribe. But to be fair, if you didn't already, sure, fine. Listen to Part 2 here first and then do it backwards. It probably won't make that much difference, except you'll need to contend with me totally ruining the Part 1 suspense because here's the negative flywheel, starting with the axle. Employers and other plan sponsors have been convinced to buy discounts, including discounts or discounts by their other aliases: rebates and probably shared savings, too, I would throw in this category. This is the grease that keeps the flywheel spinning. What's the “why” there? It's a genius idea if you think about it. And if you're not fully understanding what I'm about to say, go back, for sure, and listen to Part 1 of this episode because this is a very fundamental concept that has come up over and over and over again on this podcast. Cora Opsahl (EP452) talked about it. Claire Brockbank (EP453); Eric Bricker, MD (EP472); Chris Crawford (EP465) for just four shows off the top of my head in the past, you know, eight months or so. Here's the concept: If you buy discounts, your costs will go up. Am I saying this theoretically? No, I'm not. Look at the last 20 years. Have costs gone up way higher than inflation? Yes, they have. What are we doing? We're buying discounts. So, it's hard to argue. Renewals every single year will just keep going up the longer that we buy discounts. We talk about this, Jonathan Baran and I, in Part 1, how carriers have created a really very self-serving buying framework where employers are trained to buy discounts. Discounts are the axle, and the buying of discounts becomes the top of our flywheel. And then some so inclined hospital system executives, there are certainly executives standing 10,000 feet from any bedside, so they really have zero idea how care or patients or even clinicians are impacted. But if plan sponsors buy discounts, those at health systems who are so inclined now have no real incentive to rein in prices or focus on appropriate care even. And if you are so inclined, if you're very margin focused as a healthcare executive, you know, first things first, go gut primary care. That is step one in every playbook, and we definitely talk about that in Part 1 of this episode. And also, again, in about 10 episodes from earlier this year. Another thing that you're gonna wanna do if your prime imperative is margin at a healthcare system is maximize the revenue off of every transaction. So, hey … hello, EHR systems. So now you have health system prices creeping up and up, unfettered, you know, just exacerbated by consolidation and a bunch of other different things. But you've got healthcare prices creeping up, you have volume the same or higher because we're not preventing chronic disease like you would with advanced primary care, for example. And now we're back at the “Oh wow, let me sell you another discount. And renewal is only 9% or whatever.” Thus, the flywheel spins. Alright, so let's turn this wheel around, shall we? Flip it 180. What's the fix? This is what Jonathan Baran talks about in the episode that follows, but he says, Hey, how about this? Instead of putting “get bigger discounts” in the middle of the flywheel, why don't we put “buy better member health”? That's a good start. Buy a health plan that delivers better member health at an affordable price. Buy the care, not buy a discount off of a price we can't see for net price we can't see. Is it insurance? I don't know. Right? Like, just buy the healthcare. Cutting to the chase, Jonathan Baran advocates for a paradigm shift where employers invest in primary care, adopt better benefit designs, more aligned to cost and quality so that members are incented toward better cost and quality, employee navigation services to guide employees to make more informed healthcare decisions. So again, by changing the focus from buying discounts to buying actual healthcare, Jonathan says, we can reverse the negative cycle and improve overall health outcomes. As I've said multiple times already, my guest today is Jonathan Baran. He has been, for a long time, a healthcare entrepreneur. Today he is co-founder and CEO of Self Fund Health in Wisconsin, committed to challenging the expensive healthcare system in Wisconsin. I just spent three hours watching Hunter Biden, and I have a lot of thoughts. The interview, done by Andrew Callahan for Channel 5, is something like a confessional crossed with a stand-up set crossed with a Twitter thread that never ends. It's raw, it's chaotic, and weirdly, it's compelling. If you're a politics junkie, a media analyst, or just curious about the human side of scandal, there's a lot to pick apart.First off, the man is online. Not just vaguely aware of what's being said about him — he's terminally online. He knows the jokes, the subtext, the usernames. I'm convinced he has burner accounts. He's tracking how people talk about him in real time, and it bleeds through every answer. He's got a list — Tapper, the Pod Save crew, Alex Jones, Stephen Miller, and on and on. He names names, and he torches them. It's Seth Rollins with a flamethrower. But what's interesting is how seriously he talks about addiction, sobriety, and crack — yes, crack specifically. He draws lines between drugs, dives into the stigma, and explains how being labeled a “crack addict” shaped public perception of him. These are by far the most honest and lucid parts of the interview. And they reveal someone who's done the work of recovery — while still slipping into the old reflexes of deflection when the political heat turns up.He has this quote about “an evil symbiosis between money and power” — and I couldn't help but think, does he hear himself? He's talking about systems he's literally a product of. And yet, he stays focused on everyone else's money. When he brings someone up, it's almost always first by how rich they are. Soros, Tapper, Bannon — doesn't matter who it is, the cash comes first. There's this constant undercurrent of scorekeeping. He also confirms, in his way, that the laptop is real — then turns around and champions the “hallmarks of Russian disinfo” letter like it was gospel. The tension never resolves. He owns up to some things, skirts others, and delivers just enough contradiction to keep everyone debating. Even when he talks about Burisma, he says the quiet part out loud: “I had connections.” That's the trick, the real reason he was on that board. And he knows it.What stuck with me, though, was his resentment. Not anger — that's expected — but a deep, lingering bitterness toward the people he feels used him, abandoned him, or dismissed him. It gives the whole interview a kind of edge that goes beyond politics. When he talks about the media, about Democrats who've distanced themselves, or even about his father, there's a tension. Like he's still waiting for someone to publicly say they screwed him over. He wants vindication as much as he wants attention. And that's where it lands. This wasn't an attempt to reset the narrative — it was a live demo of the very chaos people accuse him of embodying. He wants to be understood, but not too clearly. He wants to admit things, but only on his terms. He wants to lash out, but still come off sympathetic. It's maddening, self-aware, and oddly human. If anything, the interview shows us who Hunter Biden is — and exactly why nobody in the Democratic Party knows what to do with him.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:01:09 - Epstein00:05:56 - Hunter Biden00:32:18 - Update00:33:34 - NC Senate Race00:36:40 - Wisconsin Gov.
